If I could give zero stars, I would. We shouldve known something was shady about James Jim Cole, when he asked for a 50% deposit up front for our cabinet job, then went directly to the bank to cash our check within the hour. Our initial 2 to 4 week job, has now turned into over 2 months without completion, and only some dropped off half-built cabinet boxes and doors taking up space in our garage. He also would only send his step-son over to do his work, who clearly had no professional training or experience and did not even know how to re-install our existing cabinet faces properly - which some are still not level, 1 is loose, and our lazy-Susan cabinet door simply fell off. Luckily I had saved all the screws he removed because when he showed up for the initial re-install, he did not even have all the necessary screws with him. Poor kid - then he did not even know how to apply window stripping and we had to pull it all off. He finally opened up to me about how he has to keep taking all the heat for Jims flakiness. Jim never finished the job he started for us, and never showed up after promising he would come day after day. When Jim Cole would no-show, he would not even give us a courtesy phone call or even text, after either my wife our I would schedule him in to our calendar, and we both work full time and have 2 kids. We are both reasonable people, and all it would take is any kind of communication to us, about not being able to make it by. I did not want to have to write this poor review on Coles Custom Cabinets, but Jim has left me no choice. I feel the need to warn others about his deceitfulness. He used to do good work years ago, but something has changed. We hope he is okay because it seems like his entire business is imploding.

Coles Custom Cabinets has given new meaning to the term poor customer service. After starting a project promised to be completed in five weeks, four months have now passed. Unreturned phone calls, messages, and emails, as well as lame excuses have been the norm. They have been unreliable, disrespectful, arrogant and dishonest. If there was any way to rate this outfit with less than one star, I would have done so.Hopefully, people looking for a custom cabinet maker in the San Diego area will not make the same mistake I did.
