Husband and I enjoyed staying here! Quiet and secluded, so little to no cell service. If youre not worried about that, a great place to camp. We went to the pond and saw a gator and also had a run-in with the wild hog sow with her babies. She was a little too curious, so we had to scare her off using the car alarm. She kept her distance after that. An armadillo wandered around our site and didnt give a hoot about us. Great bath/laundry facilities if you need them.
Great newly developed state park! The facilities with bathrooms and laundry rooms were super clean and well maintained. We rented a spot without a tent pad but were able to make it work regardless. Definitely heard all kinds of wildlife at night and about 95% sure we heard a bear our first night there 😱! The nature center was closed, so that was a bummer, but definitely enjoyed the trails and camping experience. Im hoping that they create a few more boardwalk trails but would definitely recommend a visit, just remember bug spray!
Palmetto island state park is just located on the Vermillion river, this place offer a small state park with outh Louisiana outdoor experience. This place has great outdoor activities including biking, boating, canoeing, fishing, golf, swimming, camping site, RV site camping and so on. You can arrange different level of gathering and events in this place. Just a relaxing place with great service and amenities
This is awesome place to bring the family. Has splash pad for kids playground, pavilions, a meeting/ party rooms, comfort stations that have washer and dryers, restrooms, and showers. They also have 4 different camping Options: campers with all hookups, tents, cabins, and a primitive camping area. They have canoeing, you can rent golf carts, and a food truck 90 percent of the time. They also have great nature trails, and a few ponds you can fish in. Also have a boat launch to go into the Vermilion River . Awesome place to bring family or just just chill and enjoy the scenery. Me and all my family love this place . We hold family reunions almost every year.
I absolutely LOVE Palmetto! It so peaceful along the trails and camping is so much fun. Tents and RVs welcome. I love the lake and even caught sockolet and alligator sightings are always exciting. The wildlife and beautiful scenery make for great photos or sketching. The splash pad is also great for hot summer days and cool water fun, but bring sunscreen! 10/10 and 5/5 stars HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Love the woodsyness of the entire place. The 50 year old hostess was a knockout er too.
First off, the roads in the park are awful. Bad potholes! Secondly, there is no rinse station for feet or body anywhere i can find! But there is awesome opportunities for fishing. Also they only have canoe rentals no kayaking.
Very nice State Park with its namesake growing everywhere. The park is very clean and well maintained. Be sure to check out the lake that you can find by following a narrow passageway through the woods. Its located just inside the park to your left.
I attended a baby shower in the conference room. Accomodations were very nice. Theres a kitchen, restrooms and a large area for whatever event youre planning.
Nice place! Been here 2x. 1st time was great. 2nd time, I’m glad the family liked it. The visitors can be inconsiderate. Noise pollution from music being too loud that includes racial slurs and vulgarity. I considered it a family place. May come back, May not.
Love to camp here. More privacy than other campgrounds
Great paddling trails and very pleasant, large and semi-secluded campsites. Excellent splash pad for the kiddos. Laundry facilities here, which is unusual for state parks. Great convocation shelters and many of them. A great place for family reunions. Only reason for 4 stars is that there are no sewer hookups at campsites, but this is typical of state parks.
Great place to get away without having to leave. Close enough for spur of the moment decisions to get out the house without breaking the bank. Clean facilities and great amenities this place rocks.
Best to call in advance. Nice place to camp. Need other restroom on ends
The park is well maintained, clean bath houses, excellent water park. A nice quiet place to visit and spend a few nights.
Very clean! Cabin was neat and had everything we needed. Exceeded my expectations. Family and pet friendly this is a place I will definitely frequent!
Very beautiful park has a Waterpark and waterways to fish, canoe etc.
We booked this park on our trip to the Southwest. What a find! large level campsites with electric and water, clean warm shower and restroom facilities and free laundry. The cabins looked to be modern and well appointed. Free WIFI throughout the campground and two bars of Verizon service. I expect the mosquitos could be bad in the warmer seasons, January no problems.
This is a great park for everyone in the family. From the splash pad to the nature trails and the canoeing on the pond. Its a great place to visit for the day or stay the weekend camping or staying in one of the cabins. It might have been my first time to the park today but we will defiantly go back, it was very nice.
We love this place. If you get a chance go check it out
Great time with the family. Everyone had a great time!
I like it at the Palmetto Island but I didnt like how bad the Wi-Fi/internet was and I didnt like how they didnt tell us that Monday was inspection day but I LOVED the cabin but the spiders was a big no no for mee
Had a cookout weather was fair spidex werent really around had gished smoothlygreat area to have adventures
Full hookups, fishing, splash pad. Great staff if you need anything. Tesla friendly. Park and sleep while you recharge
Kids had a great time. Super clean place.
Loved this state park. Very clean and well maintained. Large sites
Always enjoy our camping trips to this wonderful state park. Relatively quiet and fun to be surprised by an occasional raccoon or wild pigs! You may even get to hear and/or see a black bear. The campgrounds are kept clean and they usually try to have holiday activities going on.
I dont know if anything changed; but my parents and I were volunteering as camphosts and were disappointed. From our experience, the equipment we used didnt work and there were other issues. It wasnt what we expected it to be. Several campsites had lots of leaves covering the tent area and it took us all day to fix it. To be honest, that was the campground we werent pleased with. Hopefully, its better now; but (to me) it was awful (this was in 2018.) Never before had we gone through what we did there. Also, there were potholes during that time too. I could list more; but thats some of what our experience was.
Great. Wish I could have stayed longer.
I am from abbeville but I live in Fayetteville NC I came in may for my cousins wedding and this visit was not for such a happier time my brother was electrocuted but after being in and out of the hospital all week we decided to come and explore the beauty this place has to take breath from this moment of waiting for our miracle tomorrow we will definitely be back to actually enjoy the beauty this place has
Great place to go for the weekend. They have cabins by the river if you dont own a camper. The kids love the playgrounds and the splash pad.
This is a gorgeous place to go trying to find out a cabin price on a Saturday night
Very Gorgeous Place, for Peace and Quiet.
It was great I will be going back 5 star rating
Here for a couple nights in our camper. So far so good, spacious site, clean restrooms. Generally quite and peaceful, except for the occasional four wheeler. Imagine there are more on the weekends. There shows a strong wifi signal, but it really is next to useless, which is fine with me. With ATT there is a real strong signal and it works great. Overall a great experience here and we would probably return and recommend.
Very nice park! Huge splash pad for the kids. Nice amenities, clean, and lots to explore
I prefer to camp in a tent and they have spots for tents but the spots for the campers are not bad
Love it here AMAZING time
Great family to make new friends, visit old ones, and hang out with family
Huge live oaks are the dominant canopy tree, combined with palmettos as a ground cover. Theres a canoe trail and several hiking trails. You can also launch a boat in onto the Vermilion Bayou. This is a good winter camp site, as the mosquitos are not as pesky.
Very clean and quiet. Great for kids. Relaxing!!!
Always a pleasure?. ❤❤
Im happy to be able to see the wildlife here. Bring your family for a day or come camping for a few days.
They were too expensive for a tent our bill was $29
What a great place to camp!
Very nice park,But they need to reblacktop the road. The potholes are everywhere.would be a five star if roads where fixed
Very nice park! Will be back.
It was super, duper fun. It was my first time there. The only reason it wasnt a five star was because a down graded Luke Combs came and yelled at us even though there was no sign telling us not to ride our bikes down the ramp.
Very lush private friendly CG.
Latoya and Kharter enjoying the splash pad.
It was a fun and clean park water area my kids love it.
5 star rv park, great free wifi. Free laundry. Reasonable rates. We rode our bikes for miles.
Great place for camping and fishing and relaxing cabins and had a wedding there
Beautiful place. Cabins looked nice.
Great facility, private level campsites, friendly people. Great kayak and canoe areas. Lots of wildlife and reasonably priced.
Lots of nice trails for biking and hiking!
Small gator in the pond is a plus. Big RV destination but primitive tent sites are 100 yard walk and mellow
My husband and I held our wedding ceremony and reception at the park. My husband and I and our family rented the cabins for the occasion. The staff was friendly and accommodating. It was fabulous. The scenery, the atmosphere, and overall experience was absolutely wonderful. If you want a great place to take your family, host a wedding, party, etc I absolutely recommend this park!
We loved staying at this beautiful park! Campsites are spacious. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. Free washing machines! Dont count on good wifi. Loved riding bikes on park roads. Trails we tried were too wet for hiking.
Best state park camping ever. Free laundry a huge plus, showers and bathrooms clean. We enjoyed renting a canoe, jogging on the grounds, and just relaxing. So peaceful during the week. Busy on the weekend, but they allowed us to scoot over to a different site on the quieter side.
Really nice and reasonably priced. Family friendly great place to see nature. Been many times and will continue to frequent.
The park is really nice, but the roads around the campsites are terrible. Potholes all over. The roads are turning back to grave again..
First time there. Had a great time st splash pad and fishing. Will go AGAIN
Love it! Peaceful, beautiful!! Went fishing caught some sac a lait!! Will be back
Nice and clean
Love the versatility, especially when it comes to fishing!
Would have been five stars if half of the splash pad worked. Other than that it was a great place to visit!
3 of us spent 2 nights in a cabin there. Rustic, but very comfortable. AC/heat, fireplace. 2 bedrooms, 1 large bathroom with great water pressure and lots of hot water. On the woods!
We love this park. $3 per person to get in. They have a splash pad for children to play on amd the csmping is also nice.
Great camp ground. 5 star
Great place to go camping...Tents and RVs alike. Or of your here for just the day...there are plenty of private places to fish as well as places were people congregate for picnics. You can be alone with your party or amongst other picnickers depending on your preference. You can find a place to lay a blanket and read a book... The splash pad is a water wonder world for the little ones and there are safe and short trails close by for the slightly older ones who cant sit still. Wildlife is abundant for those who like to animal watch. Something for everyone to be sure! Bring your bug spray!!! P.S. Cell phone signal is strong so no need to worry about missing any calls!!
It is a very fun, nice, and safe place especially for the kids. I like that is wide open, close to the parking lot and the restrooms what are very well taken care of. In additional to the picnic area and start of the updated and upgraded walking natural trails, that are right there. Of course, please be aware of the alligators and the spiders especially in the late summer.
Love weekend camping here!
Enjoyed the scenery!
A beautiful park. Great birding spot. Cant wait to come back and camp.
A state park in my backyard. Very peaceful place to visit & camp! Every time I visit I see rabbits, deer just walking around.
