BEWARE OF FRAUD!Rented a 26 truck from this location with movers for 6 hours on June 5th. Movers never showed up (I know that is not uhuals fault and it is a 3rd party). Upon returning the truck, the representative checked it in and confirmed there was no issue with the rental. Three days later, we received an email from Uhaul asking for an online review and given a copy of the receipt/contract (granted we did not review all 4 attachments).Months later, we were contacted by an insurance adjuster asking us how we were going to PAY FOR THE DAMAGES! We told them we did not damage the truck. He said to take it up with uhual.The contract holder (an elderly man suffering from long term effects from COVID requiring O2) was left standing in front of Aaron Kays (manager) office for over an hour before Kay would talk with him. Kay confirmed the truck was checked in with no damage by the representative. But later the representative found a scratch on the outside of the truck. They NEVER notified the customer! Just filed a claim and said that we would need to take it up with the claims agent!Upon review, the incident claims that damage occurred on June 8th. The truck was returned on June 5th! SCAM, FRAUD!!!DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS LOCATION!
Wish I could give it 0 stars. Worst customer service I’ve ever experienced. Dennis will straight up ignore you. He must really hate his job. Not one hello or welcome. When he finished with the inspection on the truck he just said he’s going inside. Didn’t say we were done or anything. I had to yell for him to turn around to ask what the deal was. His excuse for treating people like trash was that there are only 2 of them there. Not a good excuse to make people feel so unwelcome in my opinion.
If customer service isn’t a top priority, then you need to find a different job. Sorry you’re having a bad day and shorthanded, but take it in stride and surprise your customers with positivity and people won’t leave such poor reviews! Good luck!
We rented a truck and dolly at this Uhaul for same day return. We had to pay a 20 dollar charge they said if it was returned after 7. So we were not able to return it until after which was about 8. We logged on using their APP and it would not even let us return until we were on the lot and GPS had recognized us. We followed the directions on the app. It said someone would contact us soon. They did not. When I called the day after to find why they had charged me for another days rental when it was returned by self check in and sent a screen shot of the final instruction to the site manager over there. It did not matter, they charged me anyway. I filled the tank making sure it was full of gas also. There was no way they should charge me if their store app did not recognize their own truck parked in their own lot with the keys in the drop box. I WILL NOT GO BACK TO SOMEONE THAT LIES AND CHEATS ME, TO MAKE MORE MONEY. BAD BAD EXPERIENCE!!!
Nothing personal against this location just uhaul in general. The website will let you reserve anything regardless if its available. Got a smaller trailer than I had originally reserved. If I hadnt taken it upon myself to call and make sure what I reserved was available I probably wouldnt have gotten anything. Only got 1 of the 2 dollies I requested. Made moving even more stressful and difficult. If possible I will avoid using them in the future. The staff present when I picked up was nice and helpful.
Rented a trailer for two days plus insurance. Was told by the staff that I could return it at any time the day it was due back without extra charge. After I returned it I was charged for three days for returning it 2 hours later than the time I picked it up on the first day. Insurance included. When I brought the issue up to them I was told I should have read my contract.Maybe so, but educate your people. The second star is only so more people will be likely to read the review.
Worst experience. Asked to drop off a trailer for return and the lady at the desk told me to go outside and Oscar would take care of it and then I would be good to go. After 20 minutes i unhooked the trailer and found oscar. He thanked me for doing his job and told me i was good to go and he would turn it in. The next day i realized the trailer hadn’t been turned in. So i went back down there and realized that I could turn it in with my phone on the site. I was still charged for two days even though i turned it in 2 hrs early. It was at the failure of the employees that i was charged for two days rather then one. Stay away from the frauds at all cost!
Friendly personnel, able to pick up trailer early, smooth process! Definitely somewhere we would rent from again.Only reason Im giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because our initial reservation was with the facility on N Treadaway and apparently they no longer have trailers however the only reason we know that is because we called to see about picking up early - we were not notified by them or by Uhaul directly that we couldnt do so therefore if we hadnt called we would have had to go to another facility etc.
This review is for the Customer Service Specialist, Kay Goodwill, NOT the Scan and Go feature of U Haul.I was just a customer purchasing supplies and Kay Goodwill assisted me by fairly coming and checking me out with my purchases in the order that I would have been checked out in the long line but couldnt because I was trying to use the inefficient Scan and Go feature. The feature would not work with either my data or Uhauls wifi no matter what I tried. It kept getting stuck in location. I was a computer teacher and do very well with technology so I believe it has some glitches and is NOT user friendly. But Kay Goodwill is DEFINITELY user friendly and I recommend using her assistance over the Scan and Go ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.
These people are SO incredibly nice. Due to weather I had to change my plans, and they were so accommodating and understanding. I feel like I was treated like family and would highly recommend them to anyone.
Pulled in to have propane filled a couple days ago. Pushed the button as the sign said and waited. After around 8-10 minutes no one came out to fill the bottles, but the guy working in one of the containers right next to the filling station did come up and tell me he couldn’t do it, then went back to what he was doing. I waited another 5 min and left. A question for uhaul. If you don’t want to provide this service why do you still have the equipment and advertise it. To anyone reading this, save yourself the headache an the trouble and go to WTG fuels. He came out as soon as I pulled up, filled three tanks for $37 and had me out of there in under half the time I waited for nothing at uhaul.
Sorry as heck very disappointed. Called sat up a appointment to have a hitch installed and was told it would take 2 1/2 hours to install it. Since I live 17 miles away and needed to run some errands I waited. 6 hours later still not ready so I went to the install bay just to find out that it will be ready the next day.Next day I called at 11 am and no one answers not even for the corporate call center.I haul of West Texas needs to either hire another personal to help with customer service or get one of the many other already employed employees from outside to help.If nothing else get that lady behind the glass door in the office to help out.

You can read the previous comments about the propane service provided at this location. I stopped by on a cold wet day to get 3 propane tanks to be filled and was told it was to wet to get my tanks filled by both workers a female and a older male. I asked the older clerk when should I come back was it the cold or moisture prevent me from getting them filled he said it was the moisture? I went down the road to Tractor Supply and got the tanks filled. This is the second time I have been to this location and the employees have no desire to help. Good news go to Tractor Supply and they will provide the service without giving you a lie about why they can’t provide the service.
U-Haul says they will take boxes back if they were not needed. Not this store. It has been nothing but a hassle and after two weeks they claim they dont know how to make the return. Then if you call in, you end up with a representative in another city who knows nothing about the return and say go to that store and work with them, never mind that you moved to another state. The overall impression of this store is that they are crooks and do not do what is advertised all over the boxes and website. I recommend buying boxes anyplace else. The few extra pennies you will spend will be saved in time on hold and being transferred trying to get what you need.

My husband was pulling a U-Haul trailer from Austin to Lubbock when one of the tires blew out on the trailer. He was stuck on a the side of road on a desolate stretch of road outside of Winters Texas where there was no internet service. He called the U-Haul Roadside assistance number which is absolutely worthless because no one answers it-you only get a recording telling you over and over again to send an email to them. Only remember-he had no internet service! He called me and I tried to email them but 1st they make you “set up an account” which entailed filling out a form and waiting for a confirmation number to appear in my email. Never got the confirmation even after several attempts. Tried calling U-Haul and my experience was the exact same as my husband’s-no answer-only an annoying recording telling me over and over to make my request on-line.Finally, I called this U-Haul location as they were the closest to Winters and spoke to Sue. She was so nice and called my husband to reassure him and tried unsuccessfully herself to try to reach someone at U-Haul roadside assistance. Again, they simply don’t answer the phones-even for employees!!! It was getting late and Sue advised my husband that if he could safely hobble into Abilene and spend the night, they would fix the trailer for him. He did and they did. In conclusion, this rating is for SUE and the people at her store that fixed his tire. If I were rating U-haul the company, I would probably give them a “1” because of their joke of a “roadside assistance” program. Hey UHaul if you’re listening, maybe you should put Sue in charge of all of your roadside assistance because she actually acts like she cares, is responsive and takes action.
The staff was incredibly stand-offish, not able to effectively help with my problem due to complete incompetence, the only decent thing was the storage unit, but employee wise was a complete clown show.
Sue at front desk is rude and wasn’t helpful at all.
If I could give 0 stars I would. The gentleman at the desk was very rude. My husband and I were getting all the items that we were going to buy together and before we could even sit them down this man yelled at us to get 6ft away from one another. Mind you we both had mask on as well. We simply asked him can we please set this down and again Interrupted that we need to get 6 ft away from each other. So we stood away from each other. He walked up to where my husband had sat the items to see what they were so my husband stepped back. When the cashier walked back to his computer my husband stepped back up (still in the 6ft distance) and before he got to his seat yelled that’s it get out of the store I have asked you to get 6 ft away 3 times. So we left. But the rudeness and unprofessional i am of this gentleman was unreal! Will not be going back!

Rented and returned a truck, had to wait forever to get service. A month later I receive a notice from a 3rd party company stating there was damage, for $204.00,and That I had not taken out the insurance. Luckily, I had taken out the insurance and kept the proof. It was a local move, and no damage was done. I am now having to spend time proving I took out the insurance and deal with this 3rd party company, as well as U-haul. Unbelievable.
Not happy with this place they rented me a trailer and told me I couldnt take it out of town and drop off due to NO drop off stations where I was going. So i had to rent it for 7 days, I get to my destination and low and behold there is a Uhaul drop off 5 miles from where we were staying . I called and spoke with Sue and which she is the one I rented from at Abilene. She said I miss understood her. WTH I didnt misunderstand 30.00 from 148.00. Crooks is all they are.Never do business with them again.

Our experience at this U-Haul far exceeded our expectations. We were in need of a 26 foot truck and there was none available anywhere. However, this location was able to accommodate us when we thought there was no more hope. Besides getting the truck we needed, they were able to give us a very good price considering it was so last minute. We are now dedicated patrons of U-haul and of this particular location. Thank you so much!
Phenomenal people at this location, very helpful and caring! An associate named Wes went over and beyond my expectations of customer service. When we could not rent a trailer for our broken down truck, he was ready to help us locate a mechanic. At the moment he was leaving to locate a mechanic, a customer was returning a trailer. He then helped us reserve the trailer and with him and the other workers, they helped us load our truck. Wes even took his kindness to another level by giving us tips and as advice on pulling the trailer and He even put air in our tires. I will never ever forget him and all the other workers that day in Abilene Texas. My kids describe Wes as our Guardian angel.

The owner himself assisted us in getting our truck, was super personable and friendly, and really turned our day around after being incredibly frustrated with another moving truck company that put us in a bind. Customer service at its finest!

Need more fast and friendly employees. I stood for a long time waiting to be helped with no acknowledgement. Finally the guy says next. I walked up and told him I would like to see if I can get a propane bottle filled. He said okay I will be right out. Then waited on more customers. I waited outside for while before he came out. Then he told me my bottle was too old and needed inspected. I went across town to another business and it took only a couple of minutes to have it filled and I was on my way.
Online stated they had stock of 15’ and 20’ truck. Originally I was told there were none of either without even looking. After searching for a different store that had availability online, another employee came up and was able to find one that was originally for another customer that hadn’t picked it up. They then stated that they could give the other customer a 20’ if they came later. The staff was not very helpful and the inventory isn’t stocked nor reflected appropriately online.
Due to the very long, slow moving line of people waiting for one clerk, it took me over an hour to pay for 5 gallons of propane. Yes, people were getting a little impatient. Uhaul needs to speed up the process.
I have historically loved using uhaul...until I went to this location. At this location, rudeness and incompetence come together in epic proportions. If I had more time I would elaborate. Unfortunately, uhaul was so unbelievably inefficient (even though reservations were made weeks ago and confirmed beforehand) that I’m now stressed for time on my move. Don’t expect the equipment you reserved, but do expect rude and incompetent staff, that way they’ll actually meet your expectations.

My experience with U Haul of Abilene has been nothing but excellent. Im a long term renter at the South Clack location and Ive rented three vans from this location as well. I wouldnt rent from anyone else. The staff is great and very helpful.
Well i dont exactly love this place but i do come here often to get propane filled. The service is kinda of slow because theres never more than 2 people at the counter which holds 4 employees so be prepared to wait about 15 min while employees walk right past you without saying a word.
Expect a long wait, regardless of whether you have a reservation. I have never been able to make it in and out quickly, and unfortunately there arent many other options in Abilene.
I want to thank everybody I came in contact with at UHaul here in Abilene. A couple of them even unloaded the two big items for me! They all know what customer service is. Thanks guys!
Purchased many items, they will not accept them back even unused. You can only use receipt once. Trucks have a dolly, sometimes pads that take up your space, but if you use them, you get charged. For some reason they wont take their items out of the truck you want to use to allow more space for your move.
The problem was not with U-Haul itself. They are reputable and professional but beware of the moving help they recommend on their site in Abilene Tx. I hired someone from that list named Erik from Smooth Move and the experience was awful. He was a complete slacker that charged me for work he claims he did but actually didnt. I tried to resolve the issue and was totally ignored by Moving Help. I cannot believe U Haul would promote a business that was this dishonest. Please beware of Moving Help and ERIK of Smooth Move in Abilene Tx!!.

Rented a trailer and dolly on Thursday for in town use. Returned it at 6:30 to the attendant that hitched the trailer. Original billing was about $58. Got a call Sunday from U-haul saying we did not return their trailer. Was billed $48 then another $98 for a late return. After talking to the store over they phone they could verify they had the trailer because they had rented it out and it had already left the store again. Was told they would remit the $98 charge and they returned $68 to cover the $48 and a discount. Monday morning I had to make a trip to the store because the $98 had not been remitted. Was told it would take 3 to 7 days. Tuesday morning the $98 was gone.I rent from this store about 3 times a year. They are always slow and understaffed. After this episode, I will not rent from them again as it started costing me in false over charges that they admit to be their mistake. Store needs new management and team training.
I originally sent in a review to UHAUL to compliment one of their employees, Jacob. He was very professional and helpful. I have rented from UHAUL a several times at the same location and a few of those times he was the one who helped me and he always goes above and beyond standard customer service. Two days after I sent in the review to UHAUL the manager of his store called me to thank me for my review and told me that they would be recognizing him for a job well done. I appreciate that as much as I do him. That is how you keep great employees, GOOD JOB UHAUL!!!
Made reservation on Friday June 21 to reserve 26 truck to pick up Saturday Jun 29 and was called on Thursday June 27 and told they would not have a truck. I asked rep to see if they had 20 truck and she acted a little put out, but checked and said I could pick up at another location 60 miles north of Abilene. Called Penske and got a truck. I guess when you have as much business as U-Haul losing a customer is no big deal.
The staff here has been very helpful and their vehicles in fine condition.

I have bought propane from here multiple times, I pushed the service button at the propane refill tank and someone came right out, Ive never had to wait.
