Not a local but been coming to this restaurant forever. I never waiver and only order their oxtail soup. This is my comfort place and can eat here everyday. Service is excellent and the young ladies tending are awesome.

This is one of the best place to get ox tail soup....highly recommend it....also you can change regular to their fried rice..... lup cheong fried rice is so ono....almost finish the whole thing.....dont let the name confuse you they have good food....

The vegetable omelette with ham and hash browns werent that good as their oxtail. Their Kimchi fried rice is good too. I wonder if the place is under different management.

Home to one if the best oxtail soup. For over 40 years from what I can remember the soup was the best. Naturally over time people improve and n my age it better.They have a full array of local food items. I actually love the stew and Mac salad.

Stopped here because we wanted to try local coffee shops. Should not be called a coffee shop. Its food. They have black coffee though. Probably has amazing food. But very confusing for visitors.

This place is small and popular with the locals who will swear by the ox tail soup so be prepared to wait for a table. Fortunately the service is super quick so you will not wait long.As I hinted in my introduction, if you love ox tails, this is the place you need to be. The Kapiolani Coffee Shop is a small mom and pop place with fast friendly service. The Ox tail soup was full of meat nice served in light broth served with a side of white rice. Be sure to dip your meat in the freshly ground ginger and soy sauce to make it extra special. Kim-chee fried rice topped with egg. I recommend going with over easy or even sunny side up but anyway you order your egg you will enjoy the flavorful rice dish. The shoyu chicken is also worth a try. A healthy portion of chicken thighs cooked in their (Im guessing) shoyu sauce served with macaroni or green salad and white rice.

Decided to try this place instead of shiro’s. Disappointing. Burger deluxe had almost no lettuce and drenched in mayonnaise. Fries were greasy. Coffee served in a smashed styrofoam cup that barley sat flat. Good and friendly service. But that’s all I can say as a positive.

Food is pricey, but decent. Workers dont seem to know their menu. Got charged extra for something that was listed at a different price. I didnt want to cause commotion, just check your prices well on the receipt. Not a bad place overall

Parking is no hassle because they repaved the parking. The menu is catering for local foods. Ex: Oxtail soup and fried rice specials. Just have to pay with cash; no credit card accept made it hard. I hope they consider credit card purchases, which could make or break this establishment. Aloha

Great local food and service like always. Beef Curry with a small Oxtail Broth on the side is my favorite to bring back memories of times gone by. The Waimalu Shopping Center renovations are still underway but the parking is finished and wonderful.

Ordered two easy over eggs (side order) and Sweet Bread French Toast, only had one, though they said they put two in my order. Problem if there were two eggs, where was the yoke for that one.

This is where you get the real oxtail soup. I get the extra large bowl of oxtail soup every time I go there. They give the most generous portion of meat compared to most other places that try to copy the original. Four shops of rice. you better be hungry if you want the extra large. There are other entrees like plate lunches - - katsu plate, chicken, etc.

I had the fried rice and eggs over easy. Its so delicious. My coworkers had their fried calamari, and she loved it. Its truly worth the price, as the delicious taste and they give you a good portion of food. I will definitely be going back on a regular basis.

Service was excellent as usual. Efficient and friendly.Food: The famous oxtail soup was not hot, little over luke warm. Maybe thats why it did not pass the taste test.The pig feet soup was not hot also. Is this a trend? Not good.

Cash only. Generous portion. Taste is alright. XL size is just a typical soup bowl used in all asian eateries. So dont expect a super sized bowl. Not the best tasting. So wont be going back anytime soon.

The oxtail soup was good but when I asked the waitress what the difference was on the 2 larger sizes, she said one is smaller. Ok thats a given. Otherwise the meat were cooked just right and I did notice, as my cousin ordered the larger size, the bones were larger and mine had the smaller bones.

Excellent and pleasant service. Food was very good. My girlfriend loves the Ox tail soup! Very delicious! I had the calamari and Kalbi fried rice which was also very good. Cost was around $40. Not bad for the amount of food and fantastic taste.

The Food taste great and the price is reasonable. It has a quiet vibe so you can just enjoy your meal. And you dont have to wait long to get your meal.

Gotta eat the oxtail soup no matter what. I saw the sizes that they had and it definitely wouldnt be enough for me (I can eat A LOT of oxtail soup when its good). Asked the waitress and she said they have a jumbo size thats not on the menu. Ordered it, tasted amazing, I got full. Love this place and the friendly staff

Kalbi fried rice did it for me. Even my son loves it. I highly recommend this to anyone who loves fried rice.

First of all, this is NOT a coffee shop. They have cups of hot, regular coffee but that’s it. Not sure what the story behind that one is. Girl was a bad server but the older man was nice enough. Had the Spam and fried egg sandwich, hot dog for the kid, and an order of fries. $10. Not too bad. Probably not going back but it was decent for a cheap snack/lunch. But there is NO coffee. Just sayin...

I just bought a teribeef sandwich from the take out counter, and I must say it was the worst sandwich Ive ever had. The beef was very tough, and who ever put it together must have been having a bad day. The whole sandwich was soaked with the sauce that it was impossible to hold as a sandwich, and the lettuce was not even in the sandwich. Being that it was a takeout item, I didnt want to go and return it. Very disappointed cause the food there is generally good. Never going to order from the outside counter, plus the counter person was not qualified to be there.

I had the mini oxtail as usual awesome my sister had eggs spam and rice she couldnt finish all her food the fried rice meat is Portuguese sausage.

We went to try the oxtail soup and got it with the side of kim chee fried rice over easy. First time trying the soup as I usually make stew with oxtail so I wanted to try the soup. It was really good and the regular oxtail soup portion was enough. We didnt try anything else besides the 2 dishes and both were good. 👍👍

If you like ox tail soup then you should try Kapiolani coffee shop. The only thing that I havent tried there was the coffee and everything is top notch.

In one word: Meh. There is a picture of crepes on google... theres not crepes on the menu. Also it says breakfast all day on the menu, but I tried to order French toast and they said they could only do that before 11AM. Service is just okay, food is just okay.

Has large oxtail soup. Portion not as large as I expected for the price. Broth is rather salty and they dont seem to have unsalted broth to reduce the saltiness. Also the broth is rather light/thin.

Our first time eating there. Food was good except their fried saimin (in our opinion) had more veggies and meat but not enough noodles, but the taste was great. Will eat here again. I had the pork cutlet for the price I left there content, not full but yet not still hungry.

Rude waitress, but the food was ok I guess. There’s a hundred places to get loco moco and mac salad on island, next time I’ll go somewhere they greet you with a smile and make you feel like you’re home.

Server was quite rude when we asked for more lemon slices. Because we ordered 5 oxtail soups and three others in our party ordered something different. She was very stingy with giving us more lemons. We needed lemons for the oxtail soups.

Good, friendly service.We had the fried rice with eggs over easy and the Friday special: lechon kawaii. Both were excellent. I was a little surprised but glad that they offered brown rice with the lechon as an option.We would definitely eat here again!
