Mikkelsen Frames did a very nice repair on my steel bikes bent seat stay.
Very dedicated couple does clean work.
I have known Benie Mikkelsen and his wife Melody professionally and personallyfor over 40 years. I have two beautiful high performance Mikkelsen road bikes, one set up vintage, the other set up modern and I expect them to last me for the rest of my life.Ed Litton (although Ed might argue) apprenticed under him.First and foremost, this is NOT a bike shop. They are not bike mechanics. They do not assemble bikes. They do custom STEEL bicycle frame building and repair. But not just any frame building or repairs. They can build a new bike that is comparable to the best frames made in Italy. Bernies preference is to build a strong, as opposed to lightweight, frame. He does not cut corners when it comes to assembly.Their forte however is the ability to restore a damaged frame back to original. I have seen them take a rusted, bent Mercian (which have intricate lugwork and make it look like new.One thing to consider is that they are a bit eccentric. Theyre both artists. Melody is a glass blower by trade. also, Bernie had a stroke several years ago which rendered his dominant hand useless. I find their ability to work together miraculous. One last thing, they grew up in the 60s. I think this Friday, 8/18/2017 is Bernies 70th birthday. Unfortunately for them but fortunately for their customers, their pricing is still in the 80s.If you have an old classic steel bike frame or want a new one, check them out!!!
