Gabe is amazing scuba instructor...very calm, very safe, VERY experienced, due to him, I was very nervous about getting back into a scuba after a scary incident 120 feet down a while back but he got settled into this amazing hobby again...but real story is about my wife (who took 15 years just to get into the water with a scuba mask on) is now well on her way to becoming a certified scuba diver - all thanks to Gabes Scuba8 magic in teaching. Truly a great teacher that creates trust during the process. Highly recommend!

My wife, daughter and I took our basic open water cert from Gabe and his group. Wonderful instructors, very patient and thorough instruction. My wife struggled with being comfortable underwater and for no extra charge was given an extra day in the pool to get comfortable. Blue Hole experience was great. Gabe worked with us on purchasing equipment that was comparable to online pricing. I highly recommend purchasing equipment and taking classes from Scuba 8.

3 generations, myself, Dad, and 12 year old daughter, were trained and certified during Covid. Not the easiest time to do so; yet Gabe and Brian made sure they found pool time; and got us certified in time for a dive trip in October. They made it happen despite the challenges. Safety was always first priority and Brian went above and beyond to make my daughter feel comfortable and spent many extra hours one on one with her. I dont think any other dive shop could have done what they did for my daughter. She is now a confident, excited, and safe diver that looks forward to our next trip and hope to continue working with Gabe and his team.

I had an absolute blast with SCUBA 8 getting Open Water Certified! Gabe and his crew are super friendly and put your safety first. We did some pool dives and then went out to Blue Hole for the weekend. Met some super cool people who were also taking the class as well! I highly recommend taking a class with Gabe—he’s very knowledgeable and has a great sense of humor! Especially if you’re a UNM student, you can get some great deals:) Can’t wait to dive again!

Very friendly staff! If you are a UNM student you can take their dive classes at a discount, so I urge you to look into that. Gabe and Bryan are super friendly and great teachers; both have been diving for a very long time and are certified for teaching, so you always feel exteamly safe! They really know their stuff. If you take their classes, you get a 10% discount on your purchase of quality gear so it is really worth it!

I did my PADI self-reliant certification with Gabe and Scuba 8. I found him patient and kind, and yet very thorough. I felt very comfortable once I had completed the certification due to his professionalism and attention to detail. Gabe and Brian have also been regular and enthusiastic supporters of our local dive club, Desert Divers. Scuba 8 as organized a number of very successful dive trips. I would highly recommend Scuba 8 for all your scuba and snorkeling needs.

I’ve done all of my training from my initial open water certification through dive master at Scuba 8. They are by far the best shop I have dealt with for providing top of the line training. I’ve been diving with other operations and helped other shops with their certification classes and don’t believe they provide the same level of training or the same attention to ensuring the students are prepared to dive on their own that Gabe and the others at Scuba 8 do. They provide a much higher level of personal service and take the time necessary to ensure every student is ready to be on their own diving safely.

Scuba 8 is actually one of the best extreme sporting companies Ive ever seen!A few reasons why:- They helped me propose to my wonderful fiancee!! (Included planning, discounts on items needed, and eagerness to work with me for months before I actually planned to pop the question)- The main Instructor Gabe is incredibly relaxed and is able to easily and concisely to talk to students about what will be happening next. Hes very comfortable in the water and is excellent in non-verbal communication (Useful when youre underwater and cant talk!)- Incredibly good prices on all gear, especially dive computers and rentals! I bought a lot of my gear almost immediately after the class because it was just too good to pass up!- We got to use dive computers while diving in Santa Rosa.- During our open water dive we were able to plan our own dive using the knowledge learned in the pool and from the coursework booklet.We met in a pool 2 weeks before the open water dive was scheduled. Here we practiced various skills in the shallow end of a pool and moved to a deeper end where we went underwater for the first time!! We practiced more skills at the deep end.2 weeks later we traveled to Blue Hole, Santa Rosa and if you can tell from the pictures the water is BEAUTIFUL!Its an incredible experience, and for me it was literally a life changing experience. See pictures!Theres only one company you should go to in New Mexico and thats definitely Scuba 8, heres why: while at Blue Hole I asked Gabe why other divers there (Not affiliated with Scuba 8) had weight belts rather than a weight integrated BCD, and it made total sense to me once he answered. He said, we take care of you and get you the best equipment to train with. And thats such a blessing.All of the gear we trained with was high quality gear, and not just the cheapest like other companies did.10/10 most fun Ive ever had doing any activity ever.

I came to SCUBA 8 while looking for a shop to provide open water diving instruction for our boy scout troop (Troop 505 ABQ). Gabe and Brian were fantastic instructing 13-16 yr old scouts. They impressed upon the scouts the need for safe diving, which at that age takes some amount of patience. They also worked around multiple schedules that made completing the class a challenge for some families. I will be recommending SCUBA 8 to the next round of scouts that plan to visit Sea Base from our troop.Since that time my son and I have continued to take classes and purchase equipment. Gabe matches prices on equipment and takes the time to work with you for the classes. Safety is always the FIRST priority in all his classes.

SCUBA 8 is the best! I have returned to diving after many years away from it. Gabe Pulu, the owner, is an awesome instructor, incredibly knowledgeable, safety oriented and reasonably priced. Love these guys. I have taken all of my dive courses with this company and have never been disappointed. The gear is in great shape, and the staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful.
