A cute little dessert shop with plenty of unique flavours of both ice cream and dorayaki! While it is a bit out of the way (it’s tucked away at the side of a strip mall) it is well worth a trip!I recommend going early as my fiancée and I stopped in later in the day after arriving in Albuquerque - around 8:00PM, which is an hour before they close on a Saturday - and all of the dorayaki flavours were sadly sold out. Completely understandable as it was an hour before closing. (Even so, both staff members were very nice and polite to us. Extra props to them for not giving us any nasty looks for coming in last minute, too.)That being said, we decided to settle for two of the many ice cream flavours they offer instead - he got the vanilla kuromitsu, and I got the miso caramel - both were extremely delicious! The miso caramel tastes like salted caramel, so if that’s your favourite sort of flavor, I highly recommend it. (It tastes so much like it I forgot it even had miso!) The most notable thing about the ice cream was that the consistency is unlike your typical dime-a-dozen ice cream shop, with Tonari no Mise’s being thicker and creamier. We will be back in the future, definitely at an earlier time to try the extensive flavours of dorayaki.
The flavors they have on hand are unique. They do sell out of the more popular items pretty quickly. Thats said, anything they offer is delicious.I had the miso caramel. It wasnt what I expected, but not in a bad way.
We loved it. Four of our group are Japanese nationals and I lived there for over ten years and this place is 100% legit in our opinions. Super clean. Adorable presentation. The dorayaki was scrumptious. The Tonari Sundae with black sesame ice cream brought my tastebuds straight to Gamagori. We will eagerly go out of our way to come here every time we come to NM.
Try the banana-milk. Try the mushroom ice-cream. Try the mochi with redbean ice-cream sandwich. Try everything on the menu. Try not to eat too much.
So delicious and unique. Quite easily my new favorite ice cream place within 100 miles (or more)! I loved everything I’ve tried, including the red bean (anko).
We stopped by totally on a whim during a road trip, and were so glad we did! Great dorayaki, and really enjoyed the hojicha flavored milk. There was so much on the menu I wanted to try--definitely swinging back next time Im in Albuquerque.
Unique treat thats just amazingly delicious. Cant go wrong with the strawberry cream and a banana milk!
Honestly such a pleasant surprise to have a Japanese soft serve place in ABQ, and the flavors, texture, everything is so on point (I’m especially picky about my mochis). I got the strawberry milk (what a treat) and Japanese sundae (similar to parfait), picky eater for the “plainest” thing on the menu: vanilla + kuromitsu (which he devoured, so there’s something for everyone here). So glad we opted to have dessert here before dinner. If it was closer/more convenient (open more days/longer hours), I’m sure I would have been where way too many times.I’ve no doubt of it was transported to SoCal, land of all things Asian, it would do super well too. Which, if you know, is huge.
It was a bit hard to look for the place. GPS took us to the back and when you turn its the one on the corner. The way the store was set-up is kinda inconvenient cuz then you block the sidewalk. Maybe they should have some menu flyers cuz it is hard to read their menu especially when it is very bright. Anyway, we got vanilla ice cream and they were good. I got some strawberry delight dorayaki and I think it needs a few more strawberry pcs in the middle to balance it cuz it was just on the top and the rest was cream but the pancake is really good. I also got some strawberry milk and that was really good!
So good. I’ll be back again while I’m in town. I got the sundae with black sesame ice cream and it was delicious. Very friendly service, too.
Finally something refreshing in Abq. Quality treats and drinks that you cant really find anywhere else. The staff are courteous and go out of their way to help. I highly recommend this stop for anyone wanting something refreshing. I hope it becomes a mainstay and eventually expands.
Great little shop. Loved the black seasame ice cream!
Wow! Such a cute clean lil spot. I’m so glad I was able to check them out while I was in town.
Delicious treats!!! They have a really yummy, seasonal selection--- everything from unique Ice Cream Flavors to Melon Float Sodas. Amazing to have this super cute Japanese Dessert shop as part of our Albuquerque Food Scene. Important to point out the Outstanding Customer Service as well!Dont let the slightly off the beaten path location deter you!!
Great service, good prices, excellent doriyaki
These are the exact same dessert-type treats we discovered--and adored-- in Japan! As if that werent good enough, the sundaes are totally channelled from an adorable elderly ma and pa eatery where we ate a quiet lunch in Nara! On a day when we dont take out lunch from Magokoro, my husband picks up cream and red bean doriyakis, which we enjoy with a cup of Sencha or GenMai Cha tea....The only place we eat sweets in Albuquerque! Too, too divine!
Cant wait to get back for another treat. The bday dorayaki was insane!!
Sunflower and Honey Butter ice cream was AMAZING
It was a great first time experience. The server answered all our questions about the menu. She gave us details and even recommendations. The banana milk reminds me of banana laffy taffy.
BEST ICE CREAM IN ALBUQUERQUE, maybe in all of New Mexico. I cant believe I only heard about this place today. This is real, old-fashioned, hand-churned ice cream with perfect density and texture, not too sweet, just right in every way. Someone with an amazing palate is concocting the flavors, most with a Japanese twist. We tried the coffee, matcha, and vanilla. They were all terrific. But, TNM, please develop a super dark chocolate flavor. I know it’s not Japanese, but maybe combined with umeshu or a Japanese single-malt? It’s hard to find a great chocolate ice cream in Albuquerque. I know you’d make really special one, and the chocolate-addicts of Albuquerque would be eternally grateful.
Nice place 😍 really good I loved it ! Excellent customer service 🙌🏻
I love love love this place. Super clean too! I got the Dorayaki strawberry and cream. Absolutely delicious! My kiddo got the home made matcha (green tea). She said it was soo smooth! Our new go to plqce! I cant wait to try the red bean paste dorayaki! Highly recommend!
I went here by referral because I frequent its parent restaurant Magokoro. This desert Shack did not disappoint. I absolutely loved the ice cream that I got. It is a quaint little shop and everyone was nice. I hope to go back soon and try different desserts that they had. I got the black sesame ice cream and I highly recommend.
Typically don’t go out for ice cream. But I’d keep going back here. Black sesame was unique and delicious!
The melon cream sodas were amazing !!!!! We found out about his place through a friend at work and thank god ! The presentation of each dessert was impressive. Great location ! I never write reviews but this place earned it for sure !
Delicious deserts always hit the spot. Big fan of the dorayakis
This place has it all! Delicious dessert that looks as good as it tastes. Friendly and helpful staff make it even more enjoyable.
Delicious coffee jelly and ice cream! Wonderful find. 10/10 will be going back!
While Tonari No Mise offers some interesting and flavorful options, the staff (which was just one person) was less than ideal. We waited over 5 minutes before the employee came to the counter (he was in back preparing an order for alter customer), we then tried to make a change to our order and the server couldnt figure out how to do it, he then took the orders from two other parties before preparing ours, and then we waited another 5 minutes for a cup of ice cream to come out. In addition, the venue offers no seating, but it is nicely decorated. Im recommending that the owners hire more staff, add seating, and educate your employee on how to better use your square machine when a patron opts to cancel or change an order.
The only thing you need to know if you havent been here yet: youre missing out
Love this place! Hidden gem.
Great service, the house milks were delicious, and the staff was exceptional! I will be returning to try more and I highly recommend a trip to this sweet secret!
Closed until 9/21
Really different but so yummy
Tasted just like the best desserts I had in Japan. I love it!
Awesome strawberry/ cream & cream and red bean pancake sandwich
A great place, I cant wait til they open again to get their amazing flavors. Great customer service.
Very fun, small ice cream and dessert shop located behind the neighboring restaurant. We had mushroom and black sesame ice cream- strange and very tasty!
Really good pastries. All of their products are made in house. The mills that they sell are really good and I cant recommend them enough to people!
Great as always!

This place is great! Melon Float Soda was sooooo delicious 😋🤤
Great spot for dessert! Ill be visiting whenever I come through ABQ
The sundaes I got were really delightful! I am so excited to have a place like this in Albuquerque!
So good and so unique. Their menu is constantly rotating, so I will be coming here for a long long time!
This place is so yummy! I highly recommend the dorayaki! Theyre like snack size pancake sandwiches and theyre awesome!
Stellar customer service and energy. DELICIOUS treats.
