This is a great place to experience the flavor of the local area. Right in the downtown area, this place really enforces the buy local vibe.I was very excited to see that they sold root beer floats made from a local soda called Shipwreck Soda; each flavor provides details about a famous shipwreck.The reason I am only rating this place 3 stars is that the float was flat and near flavorless. I was quite disappointed because the idea was wonderful. It could have just been that particular bottle, but even so, the lack of consistency is disappointing. Im willing to try it again and if the next one is better, I would rate them 4 stars.

We have three small kids and they didn’t allow any samples due to COVID tho not one staff member wore one or any other customers except us. Then our one kid did not like the ice cream he got which was a junior and I asked if we could swap he and he said we had to pay. Then didn’t let me throw out the ice cream we didn’t want. Such a weird and disappointing experience.

Had my first banana split here and was not disappointed. Loved the atmosphere and the cheerfulnees of the employees! They also see honey there if youre oneof those that likes to collect it.

I only get the sugar free ice cream and its really good, except 1 banana split a year! Its worth the wait!

I visited this place last weekend. The place was not busy. A family was done and got up to pay for there items. I was looking forward to some ice cream, only to not be served as others were served . There was 4 young worker that did not look like myself. After several minutes of being looked at without being acknowledged or served I said have a good day and left. When I got out side the previous customer asked where was my ice cream, I told him I was not served he just shook his head as his son as Daddy why was the lady not served . He said she was the wrong color son I will explain it later. In this day of age. We all bleed red blood.

I have celiac disease and have to be very careful to not eat gluten (which can be in chocolate ice cream!). They were extremely helpful in determining that theres no gluten in their chocolate ice cream and mixed my shake with different equipment from my son in laws malt (malt=gluten). Not only were they accommodating but the ice cream was good!

Stopped in on a Friday evening after dinner down the street. Line was long but went fast. They have quick service and great ice cream. Since it was the end of a long day and there were lots of people downtown the flavor choice were limited but still something I enjoyed.Waffle cones are excellent. Good number of toppings to choose from for sundaes. Smiling faces to serve you. I will go again!

Amazing local ice cream parlor in the heart of beautiful downtown Alpena. The owners went the extra mile to restore the brick facade and the same attention to detail went into the inside. My family loves this place and the staff is always amazing.

Ive had better store boughton ice cream than this. My son had a chocolate/ pineapple shake. He said that the was no pineapple flavor to it at all. The only reason for two stars is because they do sell some really cool locally made things. I wont go back next time in town.

The smell of fresh waffle cones when you first walk in made my entire visit. Lots of cool flavors and fun souvenirs to look at while eating! I still love my your bait sucks and your boats ugly cap!

As well as having lots of ice cream choices, they also have cute and funny souvenirs and gifts. The waffle cones are made fresh. There is a small table for kids, but mine love to play around the fountain across the street while they eat their ice cream.

It was a little tight in the place, however ice cream was tasty and the staff was friendly. They had some nice Michigan products from t-shirts, coffee mugs to carry bags.

This place is amazing! Love the selection and the items available for purchase will definitely be back!

Pirates Booty is the BEST ice cream flavor in town. From the welcoming smiles when you walk in the door to the smell of homemade waffle cones its a favorite in our books!

Very good ice cream the only thing I didnt like is they didnt have really good seating for seniors in the summer they do have a picnic table out front so that helps but I had their root beer float and it was wonderful
