This place feels like home. A very busy home where people are willing to wait, willing to take the next seat or booth ready just because the food and options are so great.A good breakfast place is tough to find in my opinion. Either it’s a greasy spoon diner, or a overly fancy place that takes away from the quality or ingredients that people crave. Egg River cafe not only has an incredibly large and diverse menu, but they offer everything from the basics to the most sophisticated options. I am simple, I can go for a Egg or two, some bacon and a cup of coffee and be content. My wife, she prefers the Eggs Benedict, add spinach and tomato. Bring the hot sauce and we are both happy.Next time, I am definitely getting a skillet or the fried chicken and wafflesIt’s busy, be patient, they also serve good sized portions, bring some home…don’t waste.

Parking lot was packed(always a good sign). Minimal wait time. Our waitress Carolina was prompt and attentive. Atmosphere is homey and comfortable. Now, lets talk food. Im generally skeptical about ordering at a new place. This place exceeded my expectations in everyway. Huge portions, seasoned and cooked to perfection. Definitely worth a stop

Place is one of my absolute favorite go to places when I am in hood river. The food is amazing. Always well cooked thought out and fresh. Every time I go I try something new. I had a cup of joe and the country short rib hash as shown in the photos. Staff was extremely busy and still performed well. Some things were slower than normal but that’s to be expected with the crazy times. Anyways go enjoy egg river!

First time visiting. Smelled wonderful walking in the front doors! Super cute place. We were seated right away though it looked very busy walking in. Service was very prompt and friendly. Cute little country chicken theme. Food was absolutely delicious, well seasoned, cooked perfectly, country gravy was heaven, fresh fruit was the best Ive had in a while. I can now see why the place is always busy when we drive by. Definitely worth a visit if in the area. We will be visiting again for sure. Parking can be tricky. Three parking in front of the building additional parking across the street.

The food is fantastic. The breakfast menu is vast with lots of tasty options. I had the biscuits and sausage gravy which was both large and tasty. The other member of my entourage had eggs over with toast, bacon and fruit. Also excellent. I highly recommend this restaurant with its chicken motif. On our return visit, sausage and eggs, eggs Benedict and a vegetarian omelet. All great with fantastic service.

Great service, great coffee, even had almond milk. (The wife was happy) The meals were all, big portions and amazing flavor. Sausage biscuit was really tasty and nice touch with sausage crumbles. Not pictured huge banana pancake, was super thick, yet fluffy... delicious!

It’s good but there was a lot of cheese in the western skillet. So if you love cheese it’s for you. Too much IMO. None the less the gravy was good. Huevos lacked any type of sauce. Kinda killed it for us. $14 a plate, so not your cheapest breakfast. Overall it didn’t live up to the hype for me, but this is a local staple, so check it out.

To use a phrase from one of their signs, “This place is eggceptional.” I had the chicken chilaquiles with eggs. Very good. Staff was pleasant as always and we snagged the seat with a pleasant view of Mount Adams. It can get very busy on the weekends so get there early. Spicy Bloody Mary is pretty good. Not best on the planet but it was good. Egg River is a must stop if you are looking for a good breakfast spot in the Hood River area.Note parking in front of the Egg River is very limited. I think there is only 4-5 spots so be on the lookout to the overflow parking lot straight across from the restaurant.

Visiting family from out of state. All of us had such a yummy breakfast! Cooked perfectly. I loved that they offered organic eggs ( an upgrade in charge worth it to me ) and also had gluten free toast which was really good too. Friendly staff, good coffee + a nice independent restaurant hometown feeling that makes it special. Highly recommend!

Wonderful breakfast spot with considerate & prompt service. I got the fried chicken & waffles. Large portion to get you through the day, if needed. Comes with fresh fruit. Nice mountain view in the front of the cafe. There is a small bar in back. About a $17 breakfast (coffee & tip included)

Came to explore this place after seeing billboard but got disappointed. Coffee is almost impossible to drink, very watered down. For food we got brisket hash and it was very peppery, dry, and not impressive for a $20 breakfast plate. Will not come back here again.

Stopped in on a road trip. Didnt expect much since we didnt do any research...just literally saw the sign and stopped. Boy were we surprised!I had a Monte Cristo plus their soup of the day...something with lentil. My friend had a scramble with hash browns. Coffee and OJ. Everything was fantastic! We were very impressed. Service was great too.If youre in the area its worth a stop!

Excellent portion sizes, got the Mexican skillet with house potatoes and was very pleased. Restroom is excellent, very clean. Staff was friendly.Latte was a little underwhelming but there was a decent amount of it, cant complain.

I was staying in Hood River for 2 nights. My accommodations were just a cross the road. Eat breakfast twice. Order the Pancakes also twice. Very good. big and fluffy. Order the big stack couldnt finished them. but next day order the short stack. Service was friendly and good.

I liked this cute little spot. Nice little diner feel. I got the salmon bagel and it did not disappoint. My husband had the short rib skillet which he said was kind of middle of the road. They did have fresh squeeze oj tho. We also got the strawberry pancakes which were good but needed salt for balance. The meal price was average. About 63 dollars for the three meals plus coffee, oj, and tip.

This breakfast spot was great! It was clean and had a nostalgic diner look and feel to it. The food was good. I had the Mexican breakfast burrito (sub ham for chorizo). There are barriers between each of the booths. We went early so it wasnt crowded at all. The service was pretty ok which is why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5. I will visit this diner again.

Great place for breakfast with lot of options. Indoor seating with of partitions and other COVID-19 precautions taken. No outside seating though. Lot of veggie options. They had biscuits and gravy but unfortunately was based on beef stock, they should provide a veggie option for that with the beyond veggie sausage option they already have.

Normally I usually have a great time. I will still come but I ordered a Chopped Steak and Eggs with my meat being medium rare, but I got medium/well done. Not really thrilled with that. I hope that the next time will different.

My family came from Chicago to visit and was recommended this restaurant by many people. We decided to try it out. I ordered a skillet with bacon and ham, no sausage, and toast but when I received my order it had sausage. Understandably mistakes happen so I politely asked if I could have my meal remade. Once it was brought out my toast wasnt on the plate. I asked my waitress, Gloria, if I could get my order of toast since I sent mine back with the first plate. She responded, You can just get the toast off her plate because she didnt get any and they put your bread on her plate. She was referring to someone else in my group, she couldnt be bothered to correct my meal fully and was now expecting me to eat off someone elses plate. She never brought us our check so we had to go to the register to get our total. Unfortunately we had a bad experience with our waitress and that ruined the meal for me but the food and rest of the staff were great.

This is a terrific breakfast place in Hood River. Fun and unusual offerings along with the classic diner options. Great customer service and very clean (their COVID-19 measures are top of the line). If you like chickens this is the place for you. Their chicken decor is extravagant without crossing the line to tacky. Order the chicken and egg chilaquiles if you want something awesome and unusual. Window seating gets you a view of Mount Adams.

Small place. Food was average. Ordered a Monte Cristo and strawberry lemonade. The lemonade was excellent. Just looking at the menu it seems to be expensive, but when you get your food you understand why.

We found this Cafe on Google maps and decided to give it a try. We wanted to get breakfast quick before heading out on a hike. We were sat right away. The woman who sat us brought us drinks right away. Then the waiting started. We were sat at 0855 and at 0915 we still did not have a server. We asked the same woman who sat us if we could get our check for our drinks and we were going to leave. Right after that our server appeared and asked if we were ready to order. We decided to order food. I ordered 2 pancakes and she put in and charged me for 3. Luckily the food came out quick and it was pretty good. Maybe it was just an off day but we will not return

During my stay in cascade locks I drove to Egg River 3 times in 4 days for a great breakfast. The sampler meal is so much good food! That’s what I say you get!

Nice place for breakfast... Nothing fancy and everything tasted better than average. The house potatoes had too much spice on them for my daughter’s liking but I thought they were ok. They have only a few parking spaces in front of restaurant but there are more in a lot across the street. The staff wasn’t very attentive on the morning we visited even though the restaurant wasn’t crowded.

My Florentine Benedict was the best I had in awhile and not just because covid19 kept us away. They have work hard to keep us safe as well in this smaller place. It doesnt feel small inside. Walk way is wide enough for a wheelchair.

Serving sizes were enormous. Girlfriend ordered the breakfast sampler and in came on 3 plates. Certainly enough for two. I had a Mexican breakfast burrito and it was fantastic. It was a little busy but the wait staff were efficient and friendly

Great food for a good price. The sampler platter will definitely require a to-go box but is the best option on the menu if youre hungry! Will definitely be stopping here again next time Im in the area.

This place wasnt bad, but wasnt really good either. We were looking for a place that served a bloody Mary and ended up here. Food was fine, nothing special or particularly tasty. My veggie omelet was mostly mushrooms, something that always bugs me. My friend got the chicken and waffles and said it was dry and just alright. Staff wasnt all that friendly. Again, not rude, but also could barely break a smile. I dont think wed go back.

Food & service was good. Actually it was better than good it was really good. However, paper straws for your drinks if not forced by some governing power is not acceptable to me. There is a hippie vibe that resonates in the restaurant. Will not return as plastic straws were not even an option. Our server was Ivan he was very good.

Lots of henhouse and chicken themed art on the walls to entertain while waiting for your generous servings of Locally sourced items to be beautifully prepared and proudly presented.So many wonderful traditional and newly creative choices on breakfast and lunch menu. Endless cups of teas and Good coffee. Even saw they have beer on tap.Closes at 2:00. Well stop again when in Hood River. Parking in front and directly across.

Great breakfast to start our day in Hood River! I had Sausage gravy and biscuits with eggs and sausage. They put lots of sausage in the gravy!

Don’t want to be too picky but food was OK, big portions, bit slow but professional service. Decor to me was dated and a bit tacky. All in all, good, but far from 5 star great.

One of the best breakfast places Ive ever been to. I have to stop by every time I visit the area. Juice is a bit spendy, but the food is reasonably priced and absolutely outstanding!

I ordered take-out from them once and that is what caused me to go dine-in the second time. Well, the second time, I was disappointed. My orange juice was served in a Pepsi paper cup. I am not sure what the reasoning was behind it being that the orange juice was not visible so when I finished it, the waitress never realized it, so I was never offered a refill. No water was provided either. The food was unseasoned this second time I went, and I ended up not eating most of it. Really disappointed, I was hoping to have an awesome dining experience.

Being in the area, we opted to enjoy brunch here and were NOT disappointed. The restaurant has a lovely relaxed atmosphere and politely COVID conscious. I ordered a banana and apple pancake (they were kind to accommodate my request) that is ginormous, exceeded expectations and was delish! The mushroom Swiss omelette was very good. They refilled coffees often and the service was great. I could eat here every weekend if I lived here! Highly recommend going here for good quality and quantity food.

Nice decor. Pretty good menu, and portions, but service could have been a little more on top of things. Also, I didnt feel like their COVID measures were the best. Such as, bringing a large bottle of ketchup to my table rather than an individual cup, and seating people in back to back booths rather than every other one. The best thing about my meal was the side of bacon. It was excellent!
