I had an oil change done on my truck at Family Auto Repair. The business, and everyone working their were very professional, and helpful. I was told the oil change would take approximately one hour, and they were done right on time. The price of the service was reasonable, and payment can be cash or credit card. I would definitely recommend Family Auto Repair to friends, or anyone else.

Today I brought my van for help. I have no experience with cars. My sister ALWAYS talks about this friendly “Family Auto” place in Alpine. I figured I would check my van in for help. The Customer Care was excellent. Teresa was so sweet and helpful. I had more than a little bit wrong! I was overwhelmed and concerned. I calmed down. Brought my car in because my check engine light came on. They ran diagnostics on it and were very honest about what was wrong with my car. They were so very nice and professional about how they presented it to me and my husband. I will definitely use them again and would hands down recommend them!

On a road trip from Tucson to San Diego, my car gave me a low tire pressure warning just outside of Alpine. I got off I-8 and found Family Auto was close by - the manager was so helpful and kind - he checked and filled the tires himself. Thank you so much! Our car broke down on our way home from Mexico. We thought we were in for a terrible time. Fortunately, we were referred to Family Auto. It was late in the day when our tow truck brought us there. Family Auto got right to work diagnosing the issue and ordering parts. They provided transportation to get us to and from our hotel, and had our car ready for us to continue home early the next morning. Everyone we interacted with was knowledgeable, friendly and professional. They were ethical and honest, and we felt like family.

Staff is very nice and helpful. They let you know about things you may need but dont make you feel like you have to do them right away. Prices have gone up since new management but all in all they do great work.

Well, they over charged for brake job. I mean simple swap of pads and rotors.

My water pump failed on my way back to Arizona. They help me out and fixed that by the end of the day and did a great job! Would definitely use again.👍

I was driving from el centro to San Diego and got a flat. I called a buddy of mine to bring a tire and he did. It was 5 pm when I got to the shop and they close at 6, but all they had to do was remove the tire from the rim and install the new one. They said No! They said it was too late to come back tomorrow. So I had to cancel all plans for the day, and leave my car on the side of the road the entire night. I would have given the guy a tip for doing me the favor, but karma will get him someday.This is the worst shop for emergency tire service.

I had a 10am appointment for an oil change. When I got there I was told that they were short staffed and I would have to wait bc another vehicle was in the oil change bay. I waited 43 minutes to get my car taken back. The car that they were working on was a vehicle that was left and did not have an owner waiting.When I mentioned that I was not impressed with waiting so long and should have been notified if they were running behind the woman told me that oil changes can take anywhere from 45-90 minutes. My car was done in less than 30 minutes.Very unprofessional.

Since I am new to Alpine & my son had used them, I brought my vehicle to have them check a coolant issue. They were so genuine & very helpful! They listened to my concerns & actually kept the car to run a few more tests to make sure the issue was resolved. I was so pleased with their service & will go back for sure!

The people who work at Family Auto at the Alpine location are all super nice, and eager to please. They’ve been very helpful at getting my older vehicles in proper repair to be able to pass smog, and to diagnose and troubleshoot issues that come up with old cars.However, as wonderful as the people who work at this location are, the business suffers from severe management issues. When there is a serious issue that needs to be resolved, the folks at this location are unable to make decision without input from corporate management from another location, and those people are absolutely, unprofessionally, completely unresponsive.There was an incident over a year ago where one of my vehicles was accidentally damaged by a technician at the Alpine location. The damage was immediately documented, photographed, and reported to upper management. From that point on, despite dozens of phone calls, text messages, emails and voice messages left by me to follow up, the upper management has done NOTHING to resolve the situation. It has left me with the unfortunate conclusion that despite the good people working at the Alpine location, this company is disreputable and not to be trusted, as their management staff members do not exercise even basic customer service skills, failing utterly to return any messages ever left in over a year. I have had to return time after time in person to the Alpine location to inquire as to the status of how we are going to resolve the damage done to my vehicle, and though the staff members of that location has expressed dismay and incredulity that nothing has been done, still no action has been taken to resolve the issue.I would love to be able to continue to have my vehicles serviced at Family Auto but cannot recommend them to anyone due to this unfortunate lack of professionalism by the management.

Yesterday, as I was leaving a Kaiser facility in La Mesa, CA to drive back to Tucson, AZ, a “low tire pressure” icon flashed on. I had no idea where to go or what to do in the area. Traffic around San Diego seemed crazy, so I got off the freeway in Alpine. Luckily, I drove by Family Auto Service. I was helped immediately by very friendly and professional employees.

I just had a large problem and I had to seek a auto mechanic,Im a person that will always go to dealer for repairs but in a crunch had to try my local shop to which Ive never been beforehand.My experience with Family auto has been nothing but a 5 star treatment if there were more stars theyd have them ALL!!I had my rear differential go out on meAnd so thats where my story starts,We ALL have that thought of oh no!!Gotta walk that fine line to find a local repair shop and let me tell ya!!I was treated like as if I went to a dealerBut with a ( Im part of there family and have been going there for years) hospitality.The repair that I thought would take days to a week took only 2 days but only really 1 day because if the obstacles they had to do to get me back on the road. Customer service here is always on point, quality and care.

The rain came and that’s when I found out I needed a set of new windshield wipers. It was an hour before closing time and raining but they got me in and had the wipers replaced in no time. Also it was a very fair price. Never have been here before but I would go back. Very nice people, I was very happy.

Had an issue with my girlfriends car and we needed to be on the road quick. Explained the deal to Timmy and he grabbed Rob, the owner. He empathized with what was going on and was able to squeeze me into a busy schedule. My last minute call got me in and out in an hour and a half, and on the road. The guys there are all great, and Rob has an incredible story. It’s hard to find good mechanics, but Rob and his boys are the real deal. 11/10 recommend.

They replaced my fuel sending unit in my 2001 Silverado 1500, they did great work and pretty quick, got my car the same day. Treated me very well when I walked through the door. Great shop, highly recommend it.

Recently moved to Alpine and was looking for local mechanic. Had them preform an A/C service and oil change. Very professional and pleasant. Prices were also reasonable. Really liked the ongoing text messages providing updates while the vehicle was in the shop. Would definitely recommend and will use them again.

Family auto service has been my only service spot for my 2017 Ford Escape since I bought it. The people are amazing who work there, Jim and Theresa especially! Not only that the customer service is awesome, they have a package for oil changes and two tire rotations for $100! I always make an appointment and they are always on time and so friendly. They are honest and so helpful for me, being a single mom, plan any work that would need to be done (I also took my older BMW there) in future. I highly recommend this place. I have referred multiple family and friends as well who are just as pleased as me. Adding to my old review, I went again today to Alpine Family Auto giving them a couple hours notice I need to drop off my car and get new tires in a short time frame between work on my lunch meetings, day care etc and they nailed it in price and most importantly serviced! Theresa is just amazing woman and why I keep going back because it’s like a family ♥️🚗

The company has a free pick up and delivery service for Alpine. Jim always calls and/or sends text message alerts to remind us of upcoming automotive checkups for all of our cars. I brought in my Honda because it was having a belt issue and was making a lot of noise. Jim and his team were very nice and called me in a few hours to inform me of what was causing my car issues. Ive been coming here for a few years. They are not the cheapest, but they do good work in a timely manner! The old saying you can have cheap, quality, and fast, but you can only pick two! They do good work for a fair price! Well under the San Diego avg. shop rate of $195 an hour! They’ve worked on my Navigator, my sisters Camry, and Ive been very satisfied every time.

This organization understands the importance of communication and accuracy. Dropped off my truck for major service at 10:00 and it was ready by 2:00 as promised - and they called at every step to inform and reassure. I have found my new service provider. Highly recommended.

We trust the professionalism of the mechanics & knew that what they recommended was not just hyped up to make more profit.We agreed to the recommendations, were pleased with their work. I drive for a living so the care of my car is paramount. I need to have the service fast and thorough. I also like to interact with the mechanics, lobby folks and especially Jim. The family gets you into a service fast. They are the best in all categories, especially everything done correctly and professional. Jim and his crew make you feel like a friend and family. Are always on time and straightforward. Labor rates are reasonable. Never had a problem with any of their repairs, and never caught them telling me something that wasnt true. Best of all, they dont condescend. I know cars and I hate it when shops dont listen and waste time diagnosing the problem you already identified for them, and then propose fixes that have nothing to do with the original issue. These guys listen and actually seem relieved when you know what youre talking about. Also never had them balk at the age or type of car or requested repair, which is nice. Ive heard a lot of we dont do that in the San Diego area. That said, like all shops their mark up on parts can be inconsistent, so always show up with what you want replaced if you want the best prices on parts.

Had a problem with my brakes that started a few weeks back. I took it to Family Auto as soon as they opened and they had it fixed that afternoon and ready to go. The mechanic that fixed it gave me call after a diagnostic test and told me other stuff that could be changed or fixed but never pursued it anymore after I decided yes or no to it. All in all great customer service and great work efficiency.

I arranged an appointment at Family Auto Service for my Smog test. This was required by the DMV by a 5 Star test station, so I needed to look no further than Family Auto located on Alpine Blvd, Alpine. I also required an oil change, convenient to have done at the same time. Both tasks completed the same afternoon so I recommend this repair facility for getting a good estimate of time required to do the work. Cost of oil change and smog test were competitive so no complaints.Thank you everyone at Family Auto Service.

Family auto service promptly fixed a blown tire, did an oil change and checkout. They found a few problems that they estimated repair costs for. Those were promptly done at the estimated price with no bad surprises or add on. Professional shop, friendly people.

I had some semi-major work done on my car, close to $1,000.00 and I was not happy with the way it ended up, especially after being reassured my concerns were going to be taken care of, before the work was even started. After I patiently tried to resolve the issue on my own, I had to get a hold of the owner, which took some time. Rob eventually called me back and thoughtfully explained his delay. He also offered a reasonable solution. So I cant say enough how that speaks volumes for Robs integrity. I am not sure if I would return, since the problem still lies within this particular service location but knowing the owner is accessible and considerate, is comforting.

It was my first experience at Family Auto Service. I showed up just before they closed. Due to a flat tire, that popped off the bead and was shredded. It was too late to order the special tires that I needed that day. Even though their lot was full, They moved cars in their parking bays. As to accomodate my Meyers Manx Buggy being safely inside overnight. I was trying to reach a friend to come pick me up, but I couldn’t reach anyone. Could you believe, the front reception girl was nice enough to give me a ride all the way to my house, which was not close. I brought in the tires the next day. And they installed them. I know they were extremely difficult to put and took longer and more manpower than expected, because the tires had been sitting for a while. When it came to my bill, they charged exactly what they quoted me. The day before (even though it was much more labor and time than expected). The manager texted me directly after my service. To make sure I was happy. Overall a 5 Star experience! Also while talking with Parker. He explained me that they have different specialized mechanics for all types of vehicles. So feel confident in bringing your diesels, foreign, or domestic cars here for all your service needs. Parker, Chris, Jim, and the Receptionist were all amazing. Jim fit me in for a quick oil change very last minute. They were all so pleasant during this turbulent time, and even let me know as I was leaving that they disinfected my car - so very thoughtful as disinfectant wipes are not easy to come by right now.

Took my car here because the engine was making an unusual noise and the engine light was on. They worked on it and my car is running great. Family Auto is reliable and gets the job done.

I worked there for about 6 months Jim the manager is a great guy he has a good heart, but the owners take advantage of him, the workers and the clients, they mark up the prices to high... Example I was searching for a motor for my kia, since I use to work for them I knew where they get their motors for a good price, we found the same motor at a junkyard the price of the motor was $700 Family auto wanted to charge me $2000 for just the motor. Business is business but marking up prices that high is wrong especially for someone who calls themselves a devoted Christian.

My wife and I had just spent a week with our daughter in Santee and as we started home to AZ on the I-8, I noticed that one tire was well below the normal PSI. When I pulled off at Alpine, I saw a nail/screw in the tread. A service station attendant referred me to Family Auto Service just down the street. They completed the repair in less than 30 minutes and we were able to finish our 500-mile trip in good time that day.Today I received a follow-up text from them to find out if everything went well on our trip home. I brought a 2010 Mazda RX-8 with a rotary engine to have a diagnostic run to determine why the engine had major issues. Jim and the technician performed both a wet and dry compression test that showed that the engine had a major seal problem. They only charged me for one hour of diagnostic time and some gasoline used to help find the problem. Given that RX-8 rotary engines are rare and complex, these folks did a perfect job following the factory diagnostics. I highly recommend going to Family Auto Service in Alpine

My radiator cracked on our way to Arizona from SD and I am so thankful we ended up here to get it fixed. The staff was tremendously friendly which made this frustrating day much better. We were traveling with a dog and a baby and they were extremely accommodating on both fronts. They have dog treats and a little play area inside for kids. Again, very thankful for their service.

You feel welcome, prices are excellent and the work they do, they do it on the expected time, I got an oil change there, took less than 40 min for an SUV and prices where cheap. They have a small waiting area with about 6 chairs and a TV with a coffee and water stand, the also inspect your vehicle for other things and give you a quote
