I needed to get new tires for a trip out of state. They were very busy that morning and they did not have the tires I wanted in stock. They were still able to get me the tires from another location and finished up the installation on the same day. They were very friendly and easy to work with. I highly recommend.

My wife and I were on our way back to New Mexico when one of our truck tires got badly damaged. And it was not the most common Michelin around. I called ahead to Big O Tires in Altoona (we were in Chicago) and got Shawn on the line. Within minutes he told me he had ordered the tire I needed and it would be waiting for me when we got to Altoona. We got to Big O at 2 pm and we were back on the road less than an hour later. Not only are the staff at Big O efficient, they are also courteous and friendly. They are a credit to the community!

Stop to get gas tonight realized I had a nail stuck in my tire. Went to Walmart first to see if they could get me in to get my tire patched, they told me no, I’d have to come back another day and probably make an appointment. Stopped in to Big O tires to see if they could do anything to help me out. It was 20 till six they closed at 6 o’clock so I thought maybe at least I can make an appointment for the next morning. The guys at the counter were super friendly, they said oh we’re gonna be here for a little bit anyways it won’t take us long. They patched my tire had me out of there in less than an hour. I know where I’m headed anytime I need tires now!

WORST BIG O EVER Balanced tires wrong, had to return 50 miles. Broke lug covers, said they were missing, LIAR, lost center cap. Free rotation for $900 set of tires cost me $80 to replace lug covers & center cap.

Says they have the tires online and you can pay and set appointments but then the store cant get them and cancel great job

We had to special order our tires, took awhile for them to come in due to weather, manager got us in fast and gave us a discount for having to wait for tires to come in. All employees was wearing masks and required everyone entering to wear one. Great customer service!

Quick service. Great pricing since I had a 1/2 off oil change and paid $25. Had to go back though since they didnt tighten the oil filter all the way. They got me in immediately and got it fixed in about 5 min. Friendly staff, and very comfortable waiting room chairs.

I have been bringing my vehicles here for service and tires for 10 years and have never been disappointed. Honesty has been hard for me to come by in the repair business. These folks have never steered me wrong. We were recommended a possible repair at our last visit, several techs looked at it today and agreed there wasn’t anything wrong with the part so they didn’t charge us for it. 👏🏻We have had several sets of tires recommended and installed at this location and all sets have lived up to the recommendation.Thank you for your honesty and friendliness, couldn’t recommend enough!

Very disappointed in this company. Daughter purchased two tires on 10/5/20 and didnot purchase tire protection plan. On 10/8/20 less than 50 miles later tire sidewall blows out and Big O does not stand behind it because she did not purchase their plan. Easy to install defective tires on vehicles that do not purchase their plans. She did not hit anything. Tire was obviously defective. They will no longer have our business!!!

Not happy that I paid extra for a warranty and still had to pay 40 dollars. I understand that my tires aren’t big o tires however your sales person recommended the tires I bought with the warranty! I will be going back to discount tires for my other 4 vehicles and for my tires when I need new ones. You also lost my dad as a customer who has 6 vehicles and my brother too.

Went there without any appointment. I just want to check their prices and proceed to replace all 4 tires including alignment. Our initial goal was to shop at the outlet store in Altoona. They offer us a free roundtrip shuttle while the car is taken care of. 5 stars for extra effort and customer service!

The guys at this store handled our emergent situation quickly and professionally. We were helping an elderly lady who had tire problems while passing through from California. She was nearly in tears from worry but these guys stepped up and found her tires from another store. The tires were delivered and installed very quickly and the price was great. We went from great worry and tears to great relief. They got her back on the road and she was able to continue her journey.

Staff took extra measures to ensure that my vehicle left the shop with a much safer, smoother and satisfying ride than when I arrived. Since I had no appointment my first thought would be a long wait, however within a few minutes car was being diagnosed, wait was minimal, ride home was very bumpy so I called and guaranteed they would make it better.They did. The staff at Big O was very friendly and very helpful with all my questions. My favorite mechanic was Dustin. He was quick, helpful and very knowledgeable. The store is clean, the front end guy Joe, is very nice and helpful and seemed very genuine in thanking me for coming in. I would highly recommend this shop and the good thing is they dont just do only oil changes and tire repairs.

Big O has treated us well. They stand behind their work. When the engine went out in our car they told us they couldnt fix it, but they still helped make the best decision on what to do and didnt rush us. They gave us the best price they possibly could on the work they did because they knew this was going to cost alot at the dealership. They are respectful, kind and understanding. They really want to help.

The people were very friendly and I was updated constantly as to where my vehicle was at in the process. I had only three issues.1. I was told over the phone that I could be in and out in 45 minutes, so I stopped over my lunch hour. I understand that things can come up and unforeseen issues arise, but I waited for close to two hours to get my car back for a 4-tire installation.2. I was not asked if I wanted the $75 tire warranty, it was just added to my bill. Had I been given the option before paying, I would have declined it.3. While I was there, a man came in requesting codes be read so he could figure out why his car wouldnt start without a jump. I was honestly appalled at the price you had given him. First, the regular price is $116 or something?? I took my car in to my local mechanic (granted, hes not a big outfit like you guys), he read my codes and said I needed to take it somewhere else and didnt charge me a thing. Also, I believe OReilly Auto Parts will read codes for free and probably others (Advance, Napa, maybe). Your regular price is gouging customers and taking advantage of those that dont know these other options. And, when this desperate man couldnt afford the discounted price of $89 (or so) he was told the lowest I could go is $49.95. While that is still ridiculous, perhaps your margins are a bit high if you can take almost 58% off the price to help a customer. Since I dont believe the person helping him was the owner or manager, I can only assume thats a price previously agreed upon by management as the lowest that can be charged while still making money. So, maybe just leave it at $49.95, and have a small bit of integrity, since I assume your code reader is probably a little more sophisticated and cost more than what they would use at the auto parts stores.

My son bought a set of tires from them. He was called and told that he needed a new battery because they had to jump his truck three times. They also told him that he needed a new rim because one of them was bent. They also told him that they couldnt align it because it wouldnt start. So I went with him to pick it up, we went in paid the invoice. Not one word was brought up about either item. Went out truck started perfectly. So moral of the story is they just wanted to RIP him OFF. They lost $80 because they didnt align it.

I had made a 12o clock appointment. Arrived at 12o clock, checked in, told them I would be going to Apple Bs for lunch while they worked on my oil change and tire rotation. I arrived back to the store at 1:20pm and they informed me they had just finished the oil change and were working on tire rotation. An hour later they inform that my vehicle was finished. No mention of a free alignment check, although they were working on my tires... The store was a mess with old ads laying around the store, the coffee pot was empty. Someone made mention that the coffee pot needed more water and was told that water for the coffee pot was low on the totem pole of things to do. Upon checking out and paying, they informed me that my vehicle took longer because they were busy that morning. Thats fine, but I was still sent to the back of the line even with an appointment. My question is, why even have the ability to make appointments if they are not honored? Peeved - best one word expression of my visit.

When shopping for 4 new tires for our SUV, I called around to several auto shops in town. Tires can be a very expensive purchase, and being new to town we had no loyalty to any company. When I called, I spoke with Zach. He quoted me under $700. I was pleased with this because it was the best deal of all the shops. When I arrived, they hooked me up with a different name brand than originally planned. Instead of a brand I never heard of, I got Goodyears. I was happy about that. Chad took care of me and Zach made sure I got the same price he quoted on the phone! Thanks guys!Now, lets work on having a pick up service for vehicles when the owners are not able to make it in. That would be very enticing for myself and many others

I took my car to get an oil change on Saturday. I had great service from Bill. I had a coupon that I wanted to use. It wasnt for the kind of oil my car takes but he still gave me $5.00 off my price. I thought that was really nice and appreciated when he didnt have to do that. He kept me informed of what was taking place with my car. I also worked with another nice guy there, I didnt catch his name but he was really nice. He was sick and didnt seem to feel well,despite that he was professional. He told me of some things that were needing repaired on my car. I explained I couldnt afford it at this time. No pressure to get it done and understood my situation. I was leaving and Bill was coming back to the shop. He said my tire looked low and had me pull my car into the bay. He filled all the tires up when he didnt have to. I really appreciate their service. The only thing I would like to see if more space for their customers to sit down. Ive been there three times and all three times Ive had to stand because all the seats were full. Other than that great service.

I have been to this place a few times. At first when I started coming here they were great could get me in and out. About the last year they cant get me in for a few hours. This time the front desk guy told me that the guy to do oil changes doesnt come in till 8 when they open at 7. I get here early to get in. Then he said I will have another guy work on it. He was complaining that we cannot find enough good help any more. I am sorry this is not my problem. I show up early as I work afternoons and dont have time to wait. Maybe you should take appointments since you are short staff. It would make it more convenient for a lot of people. Im actually going somewhere else for tires as I can make an appointment and I dont have to wait all day.

I have had at least six vehicles in and out of the Altoona, Iowa Big O and am always happy with their service. Sean went beyond expectations last weekend, getting my car done 1.5 hours after closing. Jack also is very patient, providing me exact tire pricing whenever needed. They have serviced my Buick, Accord, F-150, Toyota and even put on some mower tires for me, that I couldnt do myself. Not everyone needs the best tire in the world every time they buy tires, so they provide tire quotes at different levels of durability/quality/pricing, with up front honesty about each tires actual capability (based on experience).

Awesome!! Our family was on our way to Alabama for spring break when we heard a noise coming from the driver side rear. Upon further inspection, the lugs were loose on both rear tires. We stopped at Big O in Altoona and they helped to tighten us up and were just glad to help us out free of charge. Great staff and thanks so much for the assistance!!!

Great customer service! I went to the shop to have tires that I bought online mounted and balance. When they looked at it the said that my tie rod was broke. I had thought that the issue was just just from bad tires. Naturally disappointed at having to stay at the shop, I made mention that I needed to get to the Capitol building for opening day. He then proceeded to drive me to the Capitol while they fixed my car. They fixed in very quickly. I have never had better customer service anywhere else. I highly recommend going here to get your car serviced.

Stopped by Monday (1-4-16) after work (4:30PM) to have 4 tires resealed. The vehicle I purchased had 4 Big O tires on it so I figured thats where I would take it. When I arrived (without appointment) they were very busy. They were turning work away. No problem, when should I come back? It was decided I would come back Wednesday (1-6-16) at 4:30 PM and they would fix the tires then. I came back on Wednesday and arrived 10 minutes early. I was informed they were resealing 4 tires on another vehicle and a 2nd vehicle was having an alignment. I asked how long the wait was and said I dont mind waiting but dont want to wait 2 hours. She said we close at 6 PM so it wont be that long. I walked out at 6 PM and they hadnt even taken the keys from me. I was told its OK, we are having our garage door fixed so we will be here late anyways.

Have gotten my oil changed here a few times now and every time they have forgotten to do something. Two times forgot my sticker for my window, didn’t reset my oil light. Yesterday my got my oil changed picked my car up and my tire pressure light was still on had to go ask them to take a look, they didn’t write any tire info on my summary so I’m guessing they didn’t even check them and forgot to reset my oil light again.

I had a very poor experience. I dropped off a wheel with a flat tire. When I went to pick it up I asked if they could just put in on quick so I didnt have to. Literally take the spare off, and put the wheel back on. The new tire was already on the rim. The guy said no problem. I said if itll take too long its no big deal I can do it. He said no problem. And hour later I was gonna ask em for the keys, but they pulled it in the bay at that time. Expecting it to only be another few minutes I waited.... and waited. 45 minutes later it was done. An hour and 45 minutes total... to put on a wheel. For the record I changed from the flat to the spare in Hy-Vees parking lot in about 15 minutes, in dress clothes, in the cold. These guys are worthless!

What happened? This place used to be awesome and was my go to place for tires. This last experience was sketchy. They took half a day of our time and tried to get us to pay $600 more in repairs. We went to get a second opinion and were told the repairs werent necessary.Two people I know said they had the same experience and the second opinion said nothing was wrong outside of what they originally went in for.

Lug nuts on one wheel were not tightened before 200 mile trip. Two lugs broken off rest of them ruined, wheel ruined. Had to spend night in hotel then told the next day they could not get parts. Had to rent car to get back home and will have to make another 400 mile round trip to get car back when its repaired.

I took my vehicle into this location to get an oil change and a blinker bulb replaced. After sitting for an hour the store manager stated that we needed to have a serious talk. The vehicle I drive is an older vehicle and I assumed that maybe the engine or something to that nature was seriously wrong.We sat down and the manager started to explain that my vehicle was unsafe to drive. He let me know that there was a leak in my brake line and there was a lot of fluid leaking. He continues to tell me that when he got into the vehicle he noticed that my brakes went to the floor. This is what prompted him to check the brake line. They also don’t repair brake lines.I stated that I had no problem with the vehicle beforehand. My knowledge of the vehicle only included a small oil leak while it was in my possession. I never had fluid leaking or had to press my brakes to the floor before I took it to the shop. It’s an older vehicle and it has its problems but this wasn’t on the list.The manager then told me that it was so unsafe to drive that he wouldn’t allow his own family to be in a vehicle like this. Then he said that he didn’t know what to do. He didn’t know if he should put a hold/lien on the vehicle because it was unsafe.I explained that I lived close by and that I would just take it home and park it. He topped off my brake fluid and made me sign a waiver just in case I got into an accident.I didn’t want to accuse the shop for breaking something. I didn’t take pictures of my driveway before I left or even when I parked it at their shop. I didn’t think I would need proof for this sort of thing. I just thought it was pretty obvious that the brake fluid only came from the shop to where they parked my vehicle. There wasn’t brake fluid from my spot in their lot. Also if it was this bad wouldn’t he have heard about this when they drove my vehicle into the shop? I didn’t want to escalate things either because I didn’t need them to hold my vehicle against my will either.I have learned a few lessons today. Take pictures before and after you have your property used. Don’t use Big O Tires in Altoona. When in doubt, when it comes to the law have them present it to you or even call the sheriffs office to see if it’s true.I wished I would’ve used my head. Now I have another repair on a repairman’s work. Also I’m not blaming the manager here. He didn’t do the work, he’s just relaying what his shop has done. If you’re looking for a great shop take it to the Valley West Corner Store. They will fix your vehicle right.

The worst experience Ive ever had. After a fuel filter change, my truck has never ran worse. Im not sure what they did but I know that I will NEVER be back to Big O for ANY kind of service. The general manager is a liar and a crook!

I needed a couple of tire for a boat trailer and didnt want to drive all over. I spoke to a very friendly guy at the counter, they had the size in stock, the price seemed ok so I said I would take them. After leaving I thought that the total seemed to be more than I was expecting. When I got back to pick up the first tire I asked for my service ticket, which I wasnt given a copy of they had charged, without asking $9.95 a tire for road hazard. I asked him to refund the amount, which he did. They service guy was great!I am in sales, you dont tack on extras without asking. I would buy road hazard for a vehicle that is driven daily, but never a trailer that doesnt get used often. You lost a potential costumer over that $20. bucks, you refunded me.

Stopped in today to get the oil changed my wifes car and they told me I would need to make a appointment. The guy at the desk started flipping two or three days or more head on the schedule. I have been doing business here for the last 9 years have never made an appointment for an oil change I like the idea that I could drop in and have my oil changed that day, I would not be doing business here again.

Talked to somebody on the phone and was told it would be 56 for my tire and 20 for the balance and it ended up being around 100 just to pick it up not even having them put it on the vehicle. Was told it would be the next day, showed up 4 days later and they didnt have it. 7 days later and I had to wait for them to complete the 10 minute job.
