Absolutely awesome service, communication, and all about that handling a lost customer lol. Garry, if I got it right is the best. Im sure I wore him out with questions and what not and he didnt disappoint. I put him on the edge a little here and there but he came thru w my dumb questions lol. He gave me the basic quote( Transmission) but as u know u cant see COMPLETELY whats broken inside till ya open it and he explained step by step( didnt hear alot of it) and in the end it was a little higher than quoted but I understood damn near exactly what and why....pretty cool. Scale of 1-10.....9
I havent had them fix anything yet, but the owner Gary seem nice and honest. He is actually doing research on my Nissan so he dont waist my time or money if we cant get right parts. I appreciate that.
Gary was great! He was really easy to work with and made what was wrong with my truck easy to understand. He gave me my options and tried to help me get the best deal and save money. I hope I wont have to deal with them too soon (I dont want more transmission trouble!), but I will definitely use them again in the future if I need transmission help! I highly recommend!
The team there in Amarillo was absolutely fantastic! Our transmission failed on our way back home from vacation and we were in a tough spot. The team there never pressured me and always gave me clear options, direction regarding the repair of our transmission, timely estimates on price and time for repair! I could not have had a better experience with a service team. I live in Dallas Ft. Worth and would be tempted to take any car back to them because of the quality of service they provided! Great job guys and keep it up!
Gary and the AAMCO team are amazing. I took my vehicle to a local dealership regarding some delayed shifting in my vehicle. The told me I needed a transmission replacement to the tune of $4,000. After checking prices, reviews, and recommendations, we settled on AAMCO. We discussed in detail what it was doing, what we were told, and were prepared to pay for a replacement transmission.Gary’s primary concern was being sure they were fixing the right thing and not having to go through unnecessary repairs. After running diagnostics and driving the vehicle, he informed us no replacement is needed and we just did some standard maintenance at 10% of the cost of a replacement.I appreciate his focus on finding the root cause and saving us from costly, unneeded repairs. I highly recommend AAMCO your automotive repair needs. Very honest, professional, and conduct their business with integrity.
Gary was great to work with resolving my problems
Traveling cross-country had a possible warranty covered problem. They got me in first thing next morning checked everything out found out I was good to go. Gave me some information on my car some good advice on maintenance and sent me on my way. Good guys
Very honest and transparent about every phase of a major repair. I was kept in the loop on every level. I knew that the estimate could change once the component was disassembled and examined. I fully expected the estimate to go up, but to my surprise some of the major parts were cheaper than the estimate I received and the savings were actually passed to me. I actually got more work than what was originally quoted and was kept on budget at the original estimate price. integrity in small business is why I was referred to this shop. They delivered what they said they would plus more
Be aware before you take your transmission here for repairs, bolts from the bell housing around the pump housing had backed out. all but 2 bolts were loose and were pushing against my tourqe convertor. But he claims that no such thing would cause my engine light to come on, shutting my truck down. He was very disrespectful when trying to explain the situation even hanging up on my mechanic when he called to explain the situation further. Wouldn’t even back his work and couldn’t explain why the bolts backed out when they are the ones that did the work on the transmission... wouldn’t recommend this place.
Gary is the man, end of story. I am in the Army and was driving from Alabama to Colorado on orders. My clutch went out in Amarillo on a Sunday and I was stranded. Monday morning, Gary quoted me a price almost $200 less than any other shop in town that could do the replacement work. The part came in Tuesday morning and he had me on the road by noon. Furthermore, the bill was EXACTLY what he quoted me at the the beginning. I was thoroughly satisfied and have already given his card to another customer. Thanks so much!
They did a great job
Use CAUTION! Manager will try to get you to rebuild your transmission instead of just fixing a simple problem with a good transmission while using the Its for your safety argument. But they did fix the issue after we insisted just fixing the transmission solenoids. They also fixed it fast and did a good job on it. Just watch out for aggressive upselling.
Took my sons truck in to get transmission worked on was quoted a price of $1700 when we went in to take the truck on Monday evening Gary said they would diagnose it first to make sure that the transmissions was what the problem was and he would call us before they started anything. We knew that since it was late in the afternoon when we took the truck in that they probably wouldnt do it til the next day. We waited for a call all of Tuesday and nothing, finally my son called on Wednesday and they had already started working on it. He told my son that it would probably be ready by Thursday. Later that day Wednesday he called my son and told him that when they put the computer on that there were some codes coming up about the engine but that he didnt think that it would be a big deal. Not mentioning that it was a major deal apparently. So Thursday my son gets a call that the truck would be ready that day and that the total was $2550.00!!!!!!!!! My son asked him why that much and he said that when they were in there with the transmission they found some major issues with engine that would cause problems with the transmission. I then got on the phone and called him back. I asked him if it was normal practice for them to shoot up a price over $800. He told me that when they quote a price its a base price, which I know all about when you give an estimate I know it can be more or less a little but $850. I also asked him if it was normal practice for them to not even communicate with the customer and at least let them know what was going on. My son travels for his job and Gary knew that he knew my son had to have his truck because he was leaving to Minnesota on Friday so basically its pay it or too bad. Its sad when a business takes advantage of their customers. Its hard to find good honest mechanics and Im sorry to say we still havent found one.
Worst customer service ever! Very unprofessional and misleading on price...got car back in pieces! Dont trust this guy!
Only talked on the phone with this guy but he was really nice and seemed to be concerned for my best interest in recommending me to someone else.
The customer service was alright at the beginning but turned out to be a terrible experience at the end. When I dropped off my vehicle I never said that I was in a hurry to get it fixed but they started on it as soon as possible. When it was done I was informed that he took it upon himself to fix some other problems that he found. I ended up being charged $145 extra for these services in which I never gave him permission to do. On top of being charged for something that he did without my knowledge, he only made the problem worse and wouldnt refund the $145 when I told him about it. Luckily, the mechanic I usually go to was able to fix these problems caused by AAMCO. After all of this they expected me to just be able to shell out the complete amount of the work done. I informed them that I could only pay a portion and asked them if they could wait till I got paid in a week for the rest, they got a little bit on the hostile side. They threatened to make me pay a storage fee. (which they cant do unless its stated in the contract) Overall, It was a terrible experience and I wouldnt recommend them. Personally, they should change the company name to ScAAMCO
Wonderful service and they did a great job fixing my car. I highly recommend them!
Got my truck in and out really quick and it runs great they kept me informed on their progress and were very professional and reasonably priced.
Good work at a fair price...you can count on AAMCO to do it right the first time.
Transmission started going out, I had previous experiences with Aamco in Bartlesville, OK for many years so I trusted them. Huge mistake, left it there for diagnosis here in Amarillo, came back day or so later for estimate being told it would need rebuilt. How much, $2800, OK fine but we will need time to get that much money together. Well be back soon, but guess what, they completely dissembled that thing down to 2000 pieces! This means we cannot ever drive our car again unless pay them $2800. So dont go there for an estimate, why, because they completely dissemble it and then extort you for $2800 to get your car back. No estimate, just pay us or good buy! If you dont have the money, to bad, your car is dissembled pay us or good buy! EXTORTION!
Took my car in to get rear main seal done on it first price was 550 then all of a student it was 850 total was 909 then they tried making me get my catalytic converter done witch nothing was even wrong with it . I got my car back with popping in driver side front suspension and my gas tank empty from a full tank
Honest car care provider - respectful, knowledgeable, professional and reasonable. The service manager was especially helpful.
I was originally quoted 1750$ to rebuild my transmission, after a day or so I received a call stating it needed a torque converter, new computer, software update and so on. The price quickly jumped to 2300$. When it was finally finished the total bill went up to 2533.00$. After driving the vehicle a few days we noticed it didnt seem right as it shifted hard and was taking a long time to go into gear. so I contacted the manager to discuss the problem and I was told it was normal. I contacted him again a week or so later and I was told I was worrying to much. After another week I took it back and when I walked in the office I was soon meet with a attitude and a raised voice trying to bully me out of his office. I left the vehicle with him and later that day he told me he did a re learn on the computer and I was fixed and could go on down the roadwhich ultimately made no difference. The transmission takes at least 3 seconds to go into drive. I will never do business with Gary waters at aamco on south western ever or recommend to anyone.
Employees very friendly and helpful. Job well done
I took my vehicle in to diagnose a delayed park to reverse shift. $2500 I have a truck with a rebuilt transmission that has a much longer delay from park to reverse. Additionally, the man who runs the counter is not friendly/pleasant to deal with.
TRAVELING OUR TRANSMISSION WENT OUT..HAD TO REPLACE IT TWICE BEFORE WE COULD LEAVE...GARY MADE SURE THE JOB WAS DONE RIGHT..THE INCONVENIENCE BECAME A CONVENIENCE DUE TO HIS GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE ..IF YOUR STUCK WITH CAR TROUBLE IN ARMARILLO.....AAMCO IS THE PLACE TO GO....THANKS FOR EVERYTHING!!!
Great place and do great work.
Service is ok
So I take my car in to have a transfer case put in I get home and have transmission fluid leaking on the ground and smoke coming out running my engine luckily I didn’t run the transmission dry but now I’m out I thousand dollars and still can’t drive my car and you would think that they would’ve started it and check for leaks before they sent him home
Good service
Friendly people
