Its such a beautiful place and worth checking out. Our appetizers (brussel sprouts, tuna, burrata and pasta) were phenomenal. The cocktails were also really tasty. Sadly our entrees disappointed. The crab fried rice was just okay and the roasted chicken was actually awful, couldnt eat it. The service and atmosphere were delightful though.
Came here for my birthday dinner and was offered free champagne but as I couldnt take alcohol, we requested for dessert and they agree! ordered two of their dishes, pork loin and chicken. anyway they change their menu quite often so I dont think it will exactly be the same. but the food is for sure delicious. Chicken is delicious and not dry. Pork loin is tender and delicious as well.Price is on the steep side but to celebrate a special occasion with nice service from Kristen (she looks very sincere), it is well paid.
Google maps takes you to the wedding venue. Its actually the first place on the left. The alpacas are right outside.Beautifully decorated inside and out. We dined outside because of our dog. (Our preference) Lorenzo, our waiter was very attentive and accommodating.I had the Louis gold standard margarita which was good but I enjoyed the saints and sinners drink more. The buratta was earthy, fresh and delicious. I got the coffee steak which was superb. A little different from your traditional steak but it was nice to have something a little different. For dessert we had their apple bourbon puff pastry with ice cream that was to die for. Not too heavy and was great to finish off out meal.
If angels were able to make biscuits and they came down from heaven and developed a biscuit to make you think you were about to drift into heaven... this would be that biscuit. As a southern lady and a connoisseur of biscuits I give this biscuit 11 stars out 10. Make God bless the biscuit maker and her/his hands and heart.
The place is so well put together. The bartenders are great. Food and drink selection is spot on.
The food is both interesting and delicious. I ordered the coffee rubbed steak and potatoes, the crab fried rice, and a brownie with salted caramel and ice cream. There was a minor issue with our order and our waitress and the manager took care of the issue gracefully. I forgot the waitresses name but she wore glasses and her name began with a C. She was attentive and a pleasure to talk to. The environment was also very charming which added immensely to the dining experience.
This must be the finest restaurant within 50 miles. Upscale New American dishes on a limited menu. Perfectly executed with no disappointment. What more can I say - nothing more.
Great atmosphere and fantastic food. Homemade pasta and the venison (if on the menu) is a must.
We had dinner here this evening and it was amazing. The staff was over the top helpful and courteous and the ambiance of the building is impeccable. If a guy took me here on a first date, there would definitely be a second date.We had the pork belly and grits appetizer and it was melt in your mouth good. The ribeye was delicious too. Also, make sure to save room for the chocolate pot de creme dessert.
Amazing atmosphere and the food was amazing. Service was exceptional as well. All around five stars! Definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Austin!
Food was delicious! I got the duck confeit, which was the special for that night. It was very tender duck and flavorful. My best friend got the lamb chops. He said they tasted amazing, perfecly cooked. Very friendly staff. The restaurant is kept clean and tables are located good distance from each other. The ambiance setting is just right. The decor is amazing! One of a kind, Vietnamese church relics and detailed wood cravings are just spectacular. Definitely recommend! Its a little dark if you go at night so make sure to drive slow and follow GPS. Its next to Camp Lucy a wine country resort and venue rental.
Amazing food full of flavor. We had the Tile fish and the coffee rubbed steak. So good!! I cant recommend enough. Really cool experience.
Great dinner to celebrate my birthday. Great service and food. Obviously ambiance was top notch. I kept thinking if this were culturally appropriate or not but then I thought this town hall would be demolished anyways so I was thankful that Tillie’s could preserve it. The four star is only because of the limited menu. Now, we are going through a pandemic and I’m all for shopping locally but still I thought that the menu could have been offered a few more options. Definitely needs more dessert. The one we had failed miserably and we all just left it on the plate. Mac and cheese, cornbread were so good. Poke bowl was also disappointing, more rice than anything else. Husband had to ask for soy sauce cause it was just rice and few pieces of fish. Overall it felt uninspired and hastily put together. But all in all, will be back! Just no dessert and poke bowl ha ha.Off note, I loved the Thai curry but not sure how rest of the Texas peeps tolerate that heat. It’s not jalepeno heat, it’s Thai chilli mouth tingling heat. I enjoyed it to the last bite. Thanks for the experience!
This was one of the highlights of my trip to Austin! I had the chickpea shashuka and the lavender lemonade for brunch. Hands down one of the best meals I ever had. I also had a lovely time chatting with one of the guest representatives, Tyler terry, who showed me around and even got to tour the vinyard! The views here are amazing, food is impeccable and the staff was so down to earth. I’ll be back for sure!
Pros-Lovely ambience, great service, nice drinks. The interiors are so beautiful and the restaurant grounds are pretty.Cons-The food is just ok. The Brussels sprouts we ordered were deep fried and oily, the focaccia bread was oily as well. The entrees and desserts were just very average. Nothing exceptional.Come for the ambience, interiors and the drinks.
Holy cow - this place went beyond my expectations! We were in town visiting and saw this place offered brunch. We headed up there not knowing what to expect (poorly dressed, no reservations). They were kind enough to squeeze us in AND everything from the moment we walked in was fabulous! The decor, the service, the food, drinks, coffee... Everything!! I highly recommend this place, especially the brunch tasting menu!
All the food was great, however, we started off wanting to pick one or two food items at a time, but our server said the kitchen preferred to get our full order so they could course the meal for us. we needed a minute to select all our food choices, but a few minutes later, we placed our full order and the server left to fetch our first drinks. several minutes later, all three of the small plates we ordered come out at THE SAME TIME, so now, not only are things not coursed, but our tiny table for two is now completely full of food. Not what we preferred, but well make it work, not the end of our meal. we start making our way into the small plates, and are only half way into our cocktails, and boom, out come our entres, with another server saying, ooh, looks like the kitchen is working fast tonight. That was it, too much, we said no. you cant leave these here, weve not even come close to finishing our apps (not to mention, we had planned to have 3 or 4 drinks each over the course of a leisurely dinner). They took the food back and let us keep eating. We took our time and put in a drink order to go with the entrees, they re-fired the meat, and brought it out, however, when the bar server brought our drinks he also brought a second drink my wife had mentioned wanting to have after her cocktail with the apps (but had been told to order when she was ready for her second drink), so here hes bringing three glasses of wine to a table for two.facepalm.I get it, if the kitchen wants to create. experience and pace the food, fine, but to tell us not to do that, and then have all our food arrive within about 20 min (3 apps and 2 entrees) cmon. I dont feel its fair to dock two whole stars, but 4 feels generous.
Burrata was really good. Wife had Shrimp and grits. It was good not great. I had coffee rubbed steak. I couldnt eat it. Extremely salty and tough. To the restaurants credit they took it off the bill. Service was extremely slow on a Saturday night.
Loved the food. Those blueberry sausage from Hudson meat ... So good! Plus beautiful hill country Vistas.
I have been trying to make it out to Camp Lucy and Tillies for a while now, and finally got to experience Tillies. I cant remember the last time I left a dining and drink experience, and left feeling so happy and relived inside. The service, atmosphere, drinks, and plates were perfect, and we only got to experience the Bar menu. We will definitely return to get the full experience of staying at Camp Lucy and enjoying every meal at Tillies.
Beautiful atmosphere and excellent service! Unfortunately the food was not worth the prices. It was good, but not great.
Absolutely incredible experience. Our server, Kristi, made everything incredible. 10/10 would definitely recommend
The best food & service...the atmosphere is very special. You will be glad you went. Quite the gem! The shrimp and grits we THE BEST! KIERSIN our waitress made us feel very special for my Birthday. Thank you!
Great place to experience very creative cuisine in a Hill country gem of a location. The staff were engaged and talented. The menu is understandably narrow due to smaller total patrons. The food itself shows the hallmark of a chef who leads with confidence and delivers on expectations. Well done, and gimme another one of those biscuits!
Really good place! Food was filling and taste was great. Great spot for anniversaries.
Kristie our server was amazing. I recommend the chicken, pan seared, it was the best chicken plate I ever had. We are going back next month. We celebrated our honeymoon dinner there. Very beautiful place, the music was very good for the ambiance. Beautiful design throughout the entry and dining area. Thank you Tillies for the drinks aswell This side of Nicaragua and the lady hancock drinks were on point. Good job to the bartender.
Had a lovely evening with friends, the food and atmosphere were fabulous!
Incredible food from apps, to entrees, to desserts to drinks. Incredible little gem in an amazing building that was dismantled and shipped from Vietnam. If youre looking for a nice meal out, youll be glad you went here whether its a date or a group
Gorgeous restaurant- so full of history-- like dining in Europe--- Food was wonderful-- We truly enjoyed it
Went here for brunch and it was absolutely fantastic! Will definitely be back to check out their dinner menu.
Nice ambiance. Good food. There is a need to train the waitstaff better for this price point. We will be going back.
Simply outstanding. Beautiful restaurant, amazing food, great cocktails (try the smoked Old Fashion or the Gin Fizz) great service! Highly recommended.
Fabulous restaurant, delicious food, and an amazing setting with a story to tell. Love this place.
The last time we went to Tillies, about three years ago, it was wonderful. This time, it was ok.Staff was friendly. We sat for a bit before being greeted, noting that the servers had quite a large section, both inside and out. The patio, which is located just odd the pool, seems a little odd. As far as food, it was good, although not in line with the pricing. The risotto is served extremely al dente. When mentioned, the server stated this is what the chef says it should be like. Yes, its supposed to be al dente, not stick to your teeth al dente.Bottom line, for the cost, it just wasnt on par.I think theyve gotten to big for their britches.
We ended up at Tillies by complete happenstance. Driving around killing some time hunger bells rang. We did a quick search and found it was the closest place with good reviews. When we arrived we were blown away by the ambiance and the grandeur. Although we are in jeans, we were welcomed in.The cocktails and food were excellent. The biscuits were some of the best we ever had. We were too busy eating to take pictures of everything, but it was top knotch all the way. The food was expensive, but worth every penny, including the cocktails. If you are a fan of bourbon, they have a smoked old fashioned that is great, but their signature drink, the bourbonist, was even better. We are looking forward to our next trip to Tillies, but this time we will make it a planned destination.
Almost 5* and I’ll tell you why! Ambiance, amazing! Food, amazing! I am a big tequila fan and in such a restaurant not to have Clase Azul is a big minus but totally not important to everyone! What bothered me the most is a service. It wasn’t bad, ladies were trying hard but we had a very nice waitress but she was too loud. Then they left us with a dirty knives on a table... omg... Fine dining restaurants never does that! Please pick up my dirty knife that I have been eating appetizer with and bring me a clean one!! That is my first no fine dining experience! Second, waitress didn’t ask us if we want anything else before she bring us a check...she just slide a check and that was it! To be a real fine dining you need a fine tuning but that’s all. In general food was good and the restaurant is something that doesn’t exist in Texas for sure!
Brilliant experience for a great change and the foods wonderful
The building is quite beautiful and I gather imported from Vietnam. I got very excited for some authentic southeast asian cuisine, but they didnt have that. In fact, it was a Saturday and even though we were there at 1pm, they only had a brunch menu. Mostly eggs and pancakes, which I had consumed more like 8am when I had breakfast. Almost no real lunch options, not even a burger or a club sandwich. I ended up with chicken fried steak, which was okay I guess, but a far cry from what I was hoping for! If you want brunch, save the time and the money and go to Dennys.
Food was great, service great. My only gripe was where we were seated, table for 2 seated next to windows and real close to inner tables. It was terrible. Noting like sitting knee to knee during a pandemic.
Absolutely LOVE this place.
Tillie’s used to be one of our “go to” restaurants. Our first time there was just after they opened, and the entire experience was exemplary in every way, right down to the s’mores on the way out. The next couple times were a bit hit or miss, but still overall very good and well worth keeping in the rotation.Through COVID, we hadn’t been back in over a year. Had friends in from out of town last week and decided on Tillie’s for dinner. We were seated, and our server appeared fairly quickly to take initial drink orders...which is when things started to go downhill. It probably took 10 minutes to get our glasses of wine, at which time server told us they preferred to take appetizer and entree orders together and they would time everything. One of our friends ordered focaccia bread as an appetizer, and we ordered our entrees...one chicken, one risotto and two shrimp and grits.A good 20 minutes + later and the focaccia had still not arrived. I asked our server, who offered a half hearted explanation I couldn’t make out, but no apology for the delay. A few minutes later the focaccia arrived. Shortly thereafter two of the entrees arrived (risotto and one shrimp), leaving two of us waiting. The third entree was brought out a few minutes later (chicken), and after an uncomfortable amount of time waiting, I told my wife and friends to please eat, don’t wait on me. They were about halfway through their entrees when my order (shrimp and grits) finally arrived. Please don’t misunderstand..the food was very good, which is the reason I’m giving three stars. That being said, the wait times for our drinks and appetizer and the poor coordination of our entrees were unacceptable. Our server did offer an “apology from the kitchen” for the extended delay on my meal, but never came by to mention the delay on drinks or our appetizer until I asked. Further, if Tillie’s wants to be a top level restaurant (which they seem to want to be based on their pricing), a manager should be aware of issues such as we experienced and should at least come talk to us.Sadly, Tillie’s is now out of my rotation. There are too many really good restaurants in the vicinity.
Exquisite atmosphere!Ribeye was perfection.Blue cheese potatoes and brussels were best I have ever had.Service was fantastic, down to the smoked bourbon.Worth the drive. 👏😋
I was at camp Lucy for a wedding- Tillies was the pool side restaurant-
We enjoyed eating at Tillie’s. The food and service were excellent. Py our server was very knowledgeable about items on the menu. I have celiac disease and she was a great help with selection options that were gluten-free and all GF items were marked.
Wedding reception was here. Very nice venue and excellent staff. In fact the staff was nothing less than amazing. This is on Camp Lucy.
Fantastic food and drinks and probably one of the most well decorated restaurants. Very artistic and home kind of feelings radiating from here. Food was beyond amazing, biscuits as an appatezier really knocked it out of the park but hands down had the best steak Ive had in a long time. Will definitely come here more often whenever Im in town.
Drinks were great and the bartenders were friendly. They have great biscuits.
Was expecting near-James Beard food and service but seating, service, and menu selections for brunch left me frustrated. Beautiful setting.
Great meal. Brittany, our server, was fantastic! Really had an enjoyable evening.
A must-see kind of place 🔥
Beautiful food and ambiance. Its an experience to be had.
Drinks were good, appetizers were very good. Problem was service and timing. Two hours after seating and an hour after ordering entrees we still did not have our food. No apologies or any recognition something was wrong. I took my disappointing burnt steak to go and regretted going at all.
Beautiful old, Vietnamese building
Not impressed with the food.
To expensive, limited menue...force to go off premises to have a decent meal...
Hand crafted drinks to the Corn biscuits, pork belly and Brussel sprouts apps are a must to start your dinning experience. The risotto was soft and creamy and the special TurDuckIn omg! melt in your mouth.
Me and my girlfriend had a great birthday dinner and stuff and especially manager Bickin came to our table and even celebrate my girlfriend birthday and said nice things. Food was great and the restaurant seems like very unique ambiance and atmosphere 👌. I would definitely came back here again to have another amazing dinner.
Fun hang out with decent food .
Everything was down right amazing. Food was so good we kept ordering more! Staff was polite but not too intrusive on my date, which was very nice. Pro tip: the dessert is totally worth it!!
Such a beautiful place with delicious food! A must when you are in the area.
I have been in many great restaurants but Tillie’s! What an experience.. just driving there through narrow country roads to the moment they open the door to the grandeur of the restaurant, outstanding service, elegant and beautiful silver ware to the most unique and delicious food.. you will be nicely surprise from their appetizers to the main course and make sure you leave room for dessert.. Thank you chef and staff for an amazing dinner
Very classy restaurant.
It was pretty good.
Last night we went to Tillies which is normally a great experience. We were prepared for a limited menu but 4 entrees? REALLY?! Chicken fish vegetarian and beef. They were out of the salmon, they were out of the wine we ordered, the corn butter biscuits have been changed and now have no corn or honey in the butter, the butternut squash soup was more of a purée that was cold and the chicken 2 of us offered was so salty we had to remove the skin and it was just barely tolerable. We then were offered the option of ordering The dessert, chocolate pot a creme. They have no other desserts and it was very underwhelming. The server was quite good but put in a bad situation by the kitchen.Unfortunately it will be some time before we are willing to risk dropping a couple hundred for a mediocre to bad dinner in such a lovely setting. We are very disappointed because Drippjng is very short on nice dinner places. We’ll have to drive farther next time.
Food, atmosphere, and service are always excellent, but the prices are unjustifiably high. For many of us, that means an annual visit at the most.
We really liked this place. For brunch, it has a set menu order with set sizes and you cant order more till the end, per chefs request. So dont go here really hungry, because they serve French style, so youll engulf every course instead of enjoying. Ask for extra biscuits ahead of time, if you get into this situation.
My husband and I got married at Camp Lucy in 2016, so we were thrilled when Tillie’s opened. The first time we visited, we had an incredible, tasty, and filling meal. The ambience of the building and the staff were both incredible. We decided to return for Valentines Day this year, and were unfortunately rather disappointed. While the food was thoughtfully curated and delicious, we both left STARVING. My vegetarian entree contained 4 Brussels sprouts and about 6 tiny sprouts of cauliflower. Our bill for the two of us was $250 (for dinner and one $38 bottle of wine), and we literally drove straight from the restaurant to pick up a pizza.
Ambience and experience was exceptional overall. Very unique locale with an interesting history to go with it. Service was outstanding. Everyone was really nice. Food was OK at best. Menu almost feels like they are trying to hard to be different.
Great spot for a drive to get out of the house. The facility is really very pretty. Even saw some Llama s on their property.
A place like no other in the Hill Country. Innovative menu relying on locally sourced food. Asian inspired ambience. Wonderful cocktail menu and a varied wine list containing marvelous wines for every palate. Go eat your way through the small plates menu and you will encounter a myriad of tastes that you didnt know were your new favorites. The kitchen can be leisurely at times, but the wait is worth it.
What could have been a beautiful celebratory night in a majestic setting where we had a delicious meal, cocktails, a bottle of wine and rented a room at Camp Lucy was instead long wait times for drinks, empty glasses, biscuit that taste like KFC, over cooked entre and sub par service. My husband and I visited for our anniversary and were extremely disappointed. Upon arriving the two host were very welcoming and kind, wishing us a happy anniversary and then asking us to wait at the bar while they prepared our table. We made our way into the beautiful dining room to find it very empty and waited at the bar. We pulled up the menu with their QR code and proceeded to order our drinks. The bartender was short with us informing us that the drink my husband ordered was no longer on the menu because it was seasonal. During the time it took him to pick another they sat us at our table.Shortly after someone brought us water and then we waited quite sometime before our waitress finally came over. I was still waiting to get the drink I ordered when she took my husband order. It was at least 20 minutes from the time we ordered drinks that we finally received them. I would understand if they were busy but there couldnt have been more than 25-30 people dining in that evening and 4 -5 wait staff plus service staff to support them. When it came to ordering our food the menu that is listed online was not the menu that they had once you scanned the QR code on the table. The menu was extremely limited and the single desert offered was strange. I ordered the special, a pork chop inside a squash and my husband had the steak. While waiting for our food to arrive our drinks sat empty and we waited for our server to visit our table. She made eye contact with me and kept on walking. She finally came over and we were able to ask for a second round of beverages. When our food arrived his steak was very good but my pork chop was extremely dry. I will say the brussels sprouts were quite good but still didnt make up for the awful entre. Our waitress tried to make it better by offering me another entre but with the limited menu, there was nothing else that seemed appealing.Since we only have one anniversary a year, we like to make that evening special and are willing to spend some good money. We drove almost an hour one way to visit Tillies and got a babysitter. If I wanted to receive a short tempered and inattentive staff I would have had my toddler wait on us and cooked my own dry pork chop.
We did brunch and it was awesome! Loved the atmosphere and the food was delicious! The only thing lacking was speed of service. We were there 2 hrs... There was a large party before us. So this caused the plates to come out of order and we had to ask for the kids plates twice because they were getting restless.
