Had some good pricing on chemical products for soldering and desoldering. No place else in town I know of for that stuff.
Vary helpful. I recommend.
Extremely rude, hostile customer service.I came in looking for some antenna cable adapters. As soon as I walked in, instead of hello, or welcome, I was greeted with Do you have your vaccine card? I said excuse me? She said I need to see your vaccine papers. No, sorry lady youre not privy to my medical history documents. I told her no, I didnt bring my vaccine records. She said well then you need to get a mask on. I told her I dont have one and asked if they had any. She said No, we dont. Youll have to wait outside and we can help you outside. I was so put off by the hostility and rudeness to a customer, I just left and will order what I need online. If youre that scared of the virus, and view every customer as a leper, just close up and do phone orders. From what I did see, the actual shelves open to customers are small and limited in selection anyways, and lots of outdated stuff collecting dust on the shelves. Its places like this that I dont mind seeing them go under when they treat customers this rudely.
This place has the worst customer service I have ever encountered, I walk inside with a part in hand the older man looked right at me and said “I don’t have it “ I then proceeded to tell him I had just spoke to someone who said they could probably find something that could work to help me get back on the road with the product that I have, the older man told me I had spoke to someone outside of the store and they didn’t know what they were talking about !!! Didn’t even point me in the right direction to help me out in any way shape or form. I don’t ever leave reviews but this one is needed !
Their stock is lacking, staff is hard to work with and the the product quality is low. Home Depot and Lowe’s has been inventory and Amazon for the small stuff.
If youre looking for something to solder then youll find it here at Frigid North. In my opinion Frigid North is the Alaskan RadioShack. There are parts for nearly everything here. Lanes of Ethernet cables, power supplies, and generic parts can be found here. Before you toss that device see if you can fix it with a part from Frigid North.Ive been a customer for decades, but I think the quality and inventory of parts here has declined. In the last five years Ive lost count of how many times Ive left the store empty handed. Parts that worked are no longer ordered, but parts that dont work are still collecting dust on the shelves. Many parts have No Returns stamped on the package, so make sure it will work.
Frigid North has always been my solution for all my electronics issues. They usually have the right solution. Best parts house in Anchorage.
We stopped in looking for a specific screw driver, to get an expanding lithium battery out of our laptop. No one had it in stock. Brain had one that he uses in back, that he lent us. We removed the battery right there in the shop! Talk about customer service!
Best electronics company in Anchorage. Very friendly staff!
They have always been overpriced, their stock has started to become very limited over the years, and today they pushed me over the edge of never returning. I bought a poe injector, which doesnt have an included power supply. (Why any manufacturer would sell a device designed to add power without the cable/transformer to get power is a little confusing, but whatever) So within an hour of buying it i returned to buy the transformer, they didnt carry one. I tried to return it and they said they were going to have to charge me a 10% fee! This place is only still in business because they are the only game in town for certain things, and from now on Ill wait for online delivery before I ever give them another dime.
The last several times weve been here, weve been met with nothing but rude and inhospitable customer service. As a commercialfisherman and business owner, you cannot expect to treat people rudely, with unfriendly demeanor and expect to be successful. There are better options than Frigid North. Ill spend my money there.
Pretty decent prices compared to competitors in town. However they recently remodeled the store and no longer put prices on anything. To get prices you have to bring everything you want to buy up front and have them check the prices. Its super inconvenient and feels a bit shady to me. Check out times can be incredibly long, so I dont want to wait in line just to find out the prices. I like to support local businesses even if they are more expensive than online but Ill probably switch to ordering supplies online in bulk.
Great customer service. Dont know what all the negative reviews were about, but that certainly wasnt my experience. Im new to the store and to building electronics in general, but the salesman was friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about my questions. Awesome experience overall!
Called talk to someone and they had no clue what I was talking about. All I was looking for was cb radio mobile and base antenna the individual didnt know what I wa asking..
Im pretty sure Anchorage would shut down if it werent for Frigid North. They have pretty much everything you cant find anywhere else, and more. The folks are knowledgeable and helpful. To me theyre like Radio Shack on high doses of steroids.
I went in looking for a green laser diode, which I found. Other items I wanted were USB Extension cables. I picked up a 10 and a 15 cable for less than BestBuy gets for the 10 cable alone. They are the only place in Anchorage Ive ever found a conductive pen. I wanted a universal charger unit for laptops.. one with many tips and a variable voltage switch if I could find it. they carry it, but happened to be sold out. The guys are knowledgeable, friendly, and the place is a great place to do business with.
Friendly staff, good quality parts and equipment. I love this place, like a candy store for engineers or techs. Thanks guys!
One of the best electronics stores ever. The bad reviews are to be taken with a grain of salt. Ive been going there for years. always left with what I went in for. Service + support was awesome.
Dont believe their lies. They close at 5:55 and they lock the doors at 6. All I needed was a cord. Go to best buy.
Reasonable prices for alaska, and super friendly staff. Expansive inventory. Glad theyre around for those last minute components.
Great place with incredible selection. I havent seen a place this well stocked in years. This has become my go-to place for parts when Im in Anchorage.
Horrible I was refused because of my trump hat
Never had a question go unanswered here, and no advice ended with me sucking down any doses of electricity. So you know they gotta be good if they can teach a dumb ass electronics.
Had a bunch of people recommend this place and not only did they not have anything I wouldn’t find already at Best Buy or Fred Meyers but the staff isn’t all that helpful and they are closed on Sundays. Highly recommend checking out Best Buy or Fred Meyers before visiting here.
Excellent customer service and good selection but very high prices. They provide a valuable service and charge accordingly.
Great place to find hard to find electronic, computer, cables, and many other electronic parts and pieces. Also meters, RF fittings and coax cable.
Called and asked a simple question and the guy hung up on me. Keeping it professional I see
Always luv shopping here .. plus they offer a military discount
Norm has been a great help to me. A very responsive company.
Very helpful staff great selection of parts and they will order what they dont have.
Doesnt matter what youre looking for. These guys will find it. They keep the city running!
I really wanted to like this place but have been very disappointed by the lousy customer service and high prices. I needed to replace a transformer to connect my old my roof top antenna to my HDTV for over the air digital stations. A guy at FN told me that I would never be able to get any digital channels with my current antenna and needed to buy an special HDTV antenna.... which of course is total BS. So I went to Radio Shack (where I havent been in years) and they new exactly what I needed and it works great.
I have been told on several occasions that they dont have items in stock over the phone, only to find it myself within minutes at the store. Customer service here is so-so. There always seem to be plenty of people standing around asking if you need help, but generally I leave annoyed or upset afterwards. Folks working there that may know what they are talking about, are down right rude most of the time. The others that happen to be remotely courteous are newbies and have no idea how to help you accomplish what you are after. I literally overhead an employee talking to a customer asking legitimate questions/concerns over radio configurations be told that it isnt rocket science with a look of disdain. I felt offended for the guy, while he had an embarrassed look on his face. He was obviously not a tech savvy guy, and was making the attempt to learn how to fix his issue. Do these people actually want to sell products or what? I am sure most of their business is telecom/technicians/installers with on-going monthly purchase orders--so why care about the average guy who visits with questions and a bill under 200 bucks. The only reason I use them at all is when I am in a bind and need something now, otherwise I will order it online every time.
They have pretty much any electronics you need.
This place has that electrical part you need, or the tool. Easy to miss even when youre looking for it however.
Stopped in which a bad power supply for my laptop. Gene fixed it on the spot. Great service from these guys.
Best place in town for electronics but beware some of the workers have poor customer service skills and may talk down to you.
Great people and products for everything to tinker with electronics or run control systems for billion dollar plants.
Tons of electronics! Its like a supervised radioshack with more stuff and actually helpful people.
I was working on a project building a star-tracking platform for my astrophotography hobby and Frigid North was recommended as a possible parts store. Id never been there, and was appalled at the customer service! It was like the employees enjoyed talking down to me, like those British movies where the butler puts his nose up in the air as though he can barely tolerate somebody he esteems to be lower-class. I swore Id never go back, but decided to see if things had changed several years later ... but the service was the same -- downright rude. If you cant find the part you need anyplace else, then Id say try Frigid North ... but put your patience hat on and be prepared for people who will treat you like you were far beneath them. They want nothing to do with you, so you may have to INSIST they help you, or they might walk away as though you stank. Prepared or not, you will most likely wish you had never gone. There is one employee who was helpful, kind and courteous ... I believe his name was Peter. So, ask for Peter if you decide to go ... assuming they havent fired him for being courteous.
They should not offer board work, they do not do good work. 2 leads were shorted on visual inspection and the counter guy tells me they were there already. On a chip that they replaced? From a guy who did not look at my board even? I will not do business there again.
Vast inventory. Friendly and helpful staff.
Got most of our project stuff. Very helpful
Very knowledgeable staff. They had exactly what I was looking for and then some.
My go to place for odd or hard to find electronics and or assories. Knowledgeable staff and reasonable prices.
Ive dealt with these guys for years and found them to be an excellent company with which to deal.
Extremely helpful for all types of wiring projects for my home and vehicle
Friendly and knowable staff. Very reasonable prices and Im definitely shopping for my electronic accoutrements here, from now on.
I called Frigid North with a phone order, the man on the phone was very helpful and super patient with my uneducated questions. I highly recommend these guys.
Great selection of items and always very helpful!
This is a good place to find IT cables or adaptors locally.
These guys are champions! 5:45PM on Saturday, Dec. 30th, all sticking with it and happy to help the last customer of 2017. Thanks, folks!
Regardless of what kind of a cable, adapter, or splitter needed, chances are this place will have it. Fair prices to boot.
It seems like they are always out of stock of many products and the customer sevice is very poor. Sales people don’t know much about the products they sell.
Great selection of parts and helpful staff.
Very nice! Excellent place to shop!
Helpful, knowledgeable staff, and great selection of electronic products
Great shop for personal direct help.
Had exactly the part I needed, for a change. Dinged one star because an open package was placed back out for sale without any effort to reseal it.
Friendly staff, good selection
Great variety of products and friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great selection of electronics, parts, cables and more.
Meh, not everyone is a jerk, but they come off a bit pretentious and know-it-allish, argued with me about an adapter that i had, saying that it didnt exist.
Nice place for tech stuff in Alaska
They had what I needed, but I had to put up with their talking down to before I could buy it. If I hadnt really needed the components Id have rather paid half the price to buy them online and then spent a half an hour being abused in an online chat room. At least there I could have fought back.
They always have what i need !
Great Store, great service.
Being an electronics guy this place is like heaven. Everything you could want in one place
When you need anything electrical or network related, they will have it.
Candy store for nerds and professionals. Its like RadioShack on steroids. If you need it, they have it.
Electronic candy store always had what I needed
Always have what I need
They seem to have a lot. Not everything but a little bit of this and that. A speciality type store. Plenty of parking but watch your traffic on the way out, the left side is a complete accident waiting to happen.
Horrible customer service. Wouldnt even let me finish talking about what I came for. Just kept saying no . Lol
Always seem to have hard to find items in stock or can get them for you
All kinds of electronic components you wont find in other stores.
If you need wires or cables this is the place to go!
Best resistors in Alaska
The go to place for electronic repair.
Nice people
One stop shop for electronics!
Large selection
