Greg and son are great. Look forward to doing business again.
They were very friendly and helpful. The floor was marked for social distancing. I called a head so the part was ready. Very fast in and out.
Greg and the other tech whose name I didnt catch really helped me in a pinch. I own a pressure washing business and was having mechanical trouble with my machine on the job. They were able to take me in on short notice, service the machine and have me out the door in about an hour. Granted I had to pay for the last-minuteness of my appointment, but it got me back to the job so I could finish it that day. All in all, very helpful and under the circumstances, I would say reasonably priced. Thanks Greg!
Ive been to this place many times over the years. Overall, they seem like honest people who do quality work. But I do make every effort to avoid taking something in unless I absolutely have to. I can understand why people are complaining about the customer service. They arent very welcoming but I dont go to a small engine shop for a smile and to make friends. I avoid taking things in because its way too expensive. Lately Ive been buying cheap $150 lawnmowers and just replace them every five years or so. Its cheaper than taking it in and paying half or more of its value to repair it. I have also been renting chainsaws from Home Depot rather than taking mine in. Its cheaper and they provide everything I need. But if for some reason I HAVE to take a small engine in then I would go back. It might take a while to get it back and it will likely be expensive but they will fix it.
Good service that has been around the small town of Antioch what seems like 20-30 years. I felt like I went back in time for a brief moment. Prices were fair. Parking lot pretty much doesnt exist. You may get 2 cars in there.
Disappointed that they are the closest warranty repair center and they want a $30 deposit to estimate a warranty repair. Why sign up to do warranty work and charge a deposit? Worst part was leaving the location and smelling like I was in a bar in the 80s. Had to throw a brand new mask in the trash from the cigarette smell. F**king gross!
Price snow blower
I was really in a spot where the part that I needed for an engine and Greg and his team really came through great job
Antioch small engine has fixed my snow blower and lawn mower in the past and I can say they are reasonably priced and have been fixed quickly. I seen some people on the reviews complain about the $30.00 deposit, he asks for a deposit because in the past, customers have dropped off equipment to get fixed and after the repairs have been made they decide not to pick and not want it anymore, so the owner of the company gets stuck with it after he puts time and money into fixing it .Grege and Tina work very hard at there business and they are honest good people.
Hands down one of the top 3 customer service experiences of my life. Repaired our weed eater quickly and even gave me a quick demo on how to do it myself in the future! I was skeptical because of the review rating, but I decided to give them a try anyway since they were close to our home and I was in a pinch. So happy I did!!!
Fixed my riding mower, even picked it up and dropped it off! Works perfectly!
Just used them for the first time for a snowblower. Some other places didnt even bother to return my call, glad they did, even though Im sure they were very busy. Had it done in a timely manner too. Excellent service.
I personally had a great experience despite the low rating with negative reviews. The Mrs of the place is very knowledgeable, automatically knew my part. Like any business, know one likes to spend money(reason for 4star) but thanks to them I saved 2hrs when cutting my lawn.
I have had my lawn mowers, and snow blower there over the last ten years and they have always done a good job. They get done in good time and I think reasonably priced. If this was helpful please click on “like”
Highly recommended for any small engine repair. Extremely reasonable prices and knowledgeable, I wouldnt take my business anywhere else.
I had my 2 week old MTD Yard Machines snow blower serviced here after menards would not offer me a return or exchange. Antioch small engine handled all of the warranty info and it was repaired at no cost to me. I had a good experience so I also brought my older generator to get a tune up that was done at a reasonable price. I have recommended Antioch small engine to many people after having a good experience working with them.
Employees did not wear masks and did not require customers to wear masks. Very important.
AWESOME FAMILY BUSINESS, HONEST HOLSUM GOOD FOLKS.☝👍🤜🤛💕💞👑
The prices are high, owners kind of rude and very grungy place.
They have very knowledgeable people who know how to repair. I have been there several times with different repairs. They have helped me over and over
Service people did okay job on my item but very overpriced. Went to Ace Hardware for another lawn item to be fixed and Ace had better prices for service.
They may take little bit longer, but precision cant be rushed. Thanks.
After seeing all the one star reviews I still went into the place and now I know why everyone is giving this place a bad review. Please understand that this place does not want anyones business. Yesterday I brought my leaf blower in to buy a replacement carburetor so this place of business could make money and the lady working in front turned me away since I did not remove the carburetor which is held on by two small screws. I went two blocks north to Antioch Auto and they got my business and were very helpful. I will never go here again. I dont know how a place like this can stay in business.
We had the worst experience. When we called we were told that it is $30 to quote for repair on our riding tractor. Their website says 24 hrs., they told us 7-10 days. They made us sign to approve for $200 in repairs which we did not want to do, but the woman said they wouldnt accept the mower unless we did that. We were emphatic that we wanted a quote first before any work was done because we did not want to spend more than $30 to see what was wrong. We already knew it needed a new battery and the mechanism to raise and lower the deck. We could get it running, but the PTO wouldnt engage. They called us after 10 days and told us they took out the carburetor and cleaned it and that it needs a new one for $500. I reminded them we wanted a quote before any work was done. They said they were going to charge us for 1.5 hrs. of labor and they also put in a fuel filter that we didnt ask for. We told them we didnt want to spend more than $200 to have it completely fixed. We immediately went to pick it up and they insisted they wouldnt release it unless we paid the balance in cash. This is one of the worst scams I have seen. He did tell me he could scrap it for us if we didnt want to take it back.
I brought them an MTD snow blower to repair in December right after purchasing the equipment. They claimed they were an authorized warranty repair center for that brand, and they were lying. I found that out several weeks later (in the middle of winter) when I called to get a status update. They said they were still in talks with the company to get authorization to do warranty work for that brand. After they did get authorization, in February, I was told at that time that I had to wait for them to finish prepping lawn mowers for the spring before they would then get to my snowblower. It was snowing that week. I got the snowblower back in April.
They are in the wrong business, Greg and Tina.Any business would be the wrong business with their attitude. No idea about customer service. Perhaps bouncers at an orphanage. The wrenchs are great, someone should recruit Steve or he should start his own shop. Id back him $.
Very helpful in finding/fixing a power washer i had. They had an alternative part in stock (used) at a great price which got me back in business that day.
A few years ago had my mower repaired (under warranty). After 3 weeks I called for an up date and the owner yelled at me over the phone and actually had me in tears. I contacted the Better Business Bureau, that is how upset I was. And now years later I sign up with Google and feel like I need to share my experience with others. I have NEVER in my life been treated that bad by a business owner. Hopefully he will not treat anyone else that bad!!
We use them to repair chainsaws and we buy specialty chains from therr. Whenever we have service done, they get it done quickly. The owners are very friendly, too!
Tried to drop off a warranty repair last Saturday. Website showed the place was open from until 8:30AM-2Pm as did the sign on the door. I came in around noon and the place was locked up tight with no one there. I tried calling and no one picked up the phone either. Needless to say, Ill be driving 20 minutes further to a different place so I dont have to deal with these clowns again.
These folks are rude and insufferable, with an approach best described as the customer is always wrong.. There simply is no customer service. They should not be in business, but there are not many options in Antioch for the service they provide. After dealing with them once, Ive decided to haul my lawn and garden equipment 3x as far to a neighboring town, to a business with a very high rating, rather than deal with them again.UPDATE: 10/24/18 Nothings changed. My spouse recently risked 2nd hand smoke (chain-smoking owners of this biz smoke constantly inside) to get help on piece of equipment. He left fully disgusted at their lack of basic customer service.
I was sent here by the customer service team at Menards trying to resolve why my Generac pressure washer wouldnt pull over. I walked in, and the place smelled of burned rubber and he was smoking a no filter cigarette. He continued to smoke his cigarette behind his desk and tell me that he could take a look at it and it will likely be covered under warranty.I went to the truck, got the unit and brought it inside to fill out paperwork. I filled everything out and then he told me he needs a 30$ deposit to make sure Im going to pick up my brand new 300$ unit. I found this outrageous and left. People with breathing problems beware.
Been going here for 15 + years Greg is very reliable, fair priced and honest!
These clowns need to be shut down......period.
So I called the store directly and verified the store hours. I arrived 10 minutes before store close at 5:20 to drop off an Ice Auger for repair. As i pulled up one of the technicians was standing by the open garage door and then closed it as i got out of my truck, So with my ice auger in hand I went to the main entrance only to find the receptionist sitting at the front counter playing on the computer and the front door locked with a closed sign hanging in the window. Now mind you i had called at 5:00 to verify store hours which the receptionist stated 5:30 closing time. Plus they are expensive $75hr for repairs plus parts
Do not bring your equipment here if you want it repaired in a friendly or timely manner, more emphasis on timely. The place is a filthy mess, with no order or file system. I placed an order for $17 dollars worth of parts, said they would call when they got them in. One week, two, weeks, 4 weeks, 6 weeks. I placed a call, inquiring about my parts, and they said, they are waiting for more orders because of the shipping cost. IT TOOK THEM SIX WEEKS TO TELL ME THEY WERE NOT GOING TO ORDER THE PARTS UNTIL THEY ACCUMULATED MORE ORDERS, OR I COULD PAY THE 11 DOLLARS OF SHIPPING. Why not tell the customer this UP FRONT. I finally just took matters into my own hand, ordered the parts off of Jacks small engine online (Way way better prices, super fast shipping) and told Antioch Small Engine to pound sand. This place has signs touting their Christian beliefs, they should really take them down because they make church going believers look like @ssh*le hypocrites. How about you take some of that wisdom from Sunday and put it into your work ethic and customer experience. The bottom line is these two people (husband and wife) resent their life choices, that they have to actually help people and fix their equipment to make money. They act as if they cannot be bothered when you walk in, and you would think they were millionaires who did not need any business. If you do not want to do the work anymore Greg and Tina (Or Tim, still up for debate), CLOSE DOWN THE SHOP!! Why continue to keep your doors open if you hate what you do so much and hate dealing with people??Maybe if you actually tried in your life, you could have made enough money and retired. But the fact is, nobody in their right mind is a repeat customer of this business, and nobody is growing your business by word of mouth. The only word of mouth spreading is to take your business anywhere else.Folks, let us all do them a favor and do not bring them your business, they would prefer you did not. Just opening the door it appears you are inconveniencing them by being in their (filthy, cigarette smoke infused and filled, greasy, dirty, filthy, parts thrown everywhere) shopThe wife, aka, the ol hag, believes that she (?) can talk to you anyway she(?) wants, but if you dare give it back to her (at least I think it is a her) she cannot handle it and throws a tantrum. Here is a tip, if you want respect, how about treating people with respect. I should have read the other reviews before making the mistake of coming here. I should have used the internet to order the parts first, it is my stupid fault for trying to grow a small town brick and mortar business. I have now learned my lesson.Antioch needs a better small engine repair shop. Folks, please let this one die so another, more qualified, friendly and cleaner option opens up. In the meantime, take your work elsewhere and stop bothering them with your repairs, you are inconveniencing them and annoying them by simply showing up, so do them all a favor and go somewhere else.I promise everyone this review is 100% accurate, and that I did not take the time to read the previous reviews until after I posted, and it was not surprising to me that every single one agreed. What is shocking is Google still has them at 2 stars. I guarantee everyone who gave them 1 star would have rather given them ZERO stars. So folks, the true rating of this company is less than 1 star.If you hate yourself, hate getting things repaired properly, hate dealing with friendly people, hate being in clean and orderly buildings, hate the smell of clean air, or are a masochist, then by all means, go here.
Ive been bringing my lawnmower and snow blower here for years. Ive always received excellent service and friendly, helpful advice!
Ordered a part online for my briggs and stratton lawn mower. Of course being a consumer, I messed up and ordered the wrong part, Greg was great, I sent him a picture of the carb through email and explained what the problem was and that I had ordered the wrong part, he was very responsive to my request and got me the right part without a problem. While in the office he had a town in getting some maintenance done. Upon reading these reviews- which disgusted me- remember that people in retail are under extreme amounts of pressure and very rarely do happy customer go out and do reviews, but to degrade a business online is just simply wrong- In these economic times discuss your problem with the owner of the business, we need small businesss in our communities.
Horrible Customer Service! I will never step foot in this place or recommend it to anyone!
The best people
Terrible service, unreliable and a very filthy nasty shop. Do Antioch a favor and close down forever. Door is usually locked anyway..
