Had great experience shopping for bikes here and although the staff is busy, they are very helpful. They are always doing a good job repairing our bikes and giving us tips on how to maintain our bikes. I trust them with my bikes and they are so reasonably priced. You can definitely tell they care about the cycle community.
Excellent purchasing experience! Mike was very knowledgeable and provided us with many options until we found the right bikes for my wife and myself. We are very excited to start using our new rides!
Purchased a Specialized Stump Jumper and it was an easy experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and the mechanics are very knowledgeable.Tried a couple other shops and they had a better selection when it came to what I was looking for.Rode the Stump Jumper for the first time yesterday, after riding a hard tail for the past year and it rides like a dream.Im very happy with the bike and the purchase experience. They are my new home for everything MTB.Thx guys
I have been a customer of the Apex Bicycle Chain for over 12 years. I am a repeat customer because of the talented mechanics, genuine enthusiasm and caring the owner and staff provide. Today they went above and beyond this after receiving a panic call from me to replace an unrepairable, mangled derailleur, as I had 1 day left of vacation for my passion- biking NC. Before close of business I received an unexpected surprise call that the team had rallied, my bike was repaired and ready to be picked up. Exceptional people, exceptional service with a smile. There are still good people in this world.
I have been going to this store for the last few months and it’s been an absolute pleasure to work with the service department. All the employees are super friendly and knowledgeable. My bike repairs/services are done by Chris and he is phenomenal. Being new to mountain biking, he always explains things to me in plain English. He is very responsible, reliable and responsive. I would highly recommend the store and particularly Chris for you biking needs!
I have never seen before the worst attitude towards the buyer. We came today to make a gift to buy a bycicle to out little daughter. The very rude man didnt allow us to enter inside the store, because my husband was without a mask. He can not breath in a mask, he has a broken nose and has medical weaver. He even did not want to hear us. It is very very rude. My daughter waited this day and now is very upset!!!
Had never been here, stopped in 2 weekends ago with interest in finding a bike, had cash in hand...Having just left Crabtree mall, seeing very few masks in use, figured things had relaxed. Nope! Approached The Bicycle Chain in Apex maskless, as I entered I heard you need a mask! Said in not quite a yell but unnecessarily loud, from an older gentleman. All eyes in the store turned to me as I stopped in my tracks, said ok my apologies, and went to my vehicle for a mask. I then entered the store, masked....I walked around this store for about 15 minutes, wasnt greeted, nothing. Caught several associates glancing at me but that was all.I then noticed a customer walking around with his mask pulled under his nose, and said to hell with this place. I was ready to spend a good amount on a great bike, but you guys customer service is awful. No thanks.
I brought my bicycle in for a quick look for them to then schedule maintenance and had the fortune to have Colby look over my bike. He was knowledgeable and efficient.Backstory - I had, had it at another Bicycle Chain for 2 weeks (they told us the work would take 2 days ) and it wasnt completely serviced. Took it home to ride and the chain was then overshifting my large ring and coming completely off.I took it into the Apex Bicycle Chain for the quick look and then to schedule maintenance (this is how they are doing things during the covid timeframe). The issue was a quick fix and he had me out of there in less than 15 min. Apex Bicycle Chain is a further drive but well worth the competence.
No. Unacceptable. I think about how many employees walked past these bikes like this and thought it was fine or were they oblivious? This is my Carbon SL in the middle just before I noticed the ding. This is how they are treating my $12,000.00 bike imagine how they are treating yours. I am pretty sad because I wanted it to work out with these guys. They seemed knowledgeable and put up with my dumb questions.
Awesome service from this group. I had a unique issue with a early 90’s BMX I restored and they helped me out without even setting a service appointment. Though I wish they had a larger BMX supply of parts, these guys are top notch and helped me out in a pinch without giving me any grief. Did it with a smile in fact! Great guys!!
Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. I was given great service as they helped me find parts and identified options. I will be back for sure.
I had a smooth experience, they were able to fix my bike without issues. Ill be back
Horrible service today & Chris in service said I should review. So here it is! RTraining needed badly. Kids running the show. More detailed review on Yelp. Will not be going back. Last week just spent over $600 on upgrades in Raleigh location, went to apex & not the same welcoming service staff at all!!
They fixed my bike at a fair price and on the same day I took it in. I wish there were a location closer to where I stay.
If you own a bike in the Apex/Cary area this is the place you have to have on your list for anything bike related. The team at the store is very knowledgeable and trustworthy. They are the only store I go to. Thanks for all the help so far, see you soon.
Went for a quick repair. They were able to take care of quickly and for a good price.
Excellent experience!!!! Super helpful. Learned more about bikes in 10 mins than i have in 10 years!
I was a costumer here for 10 years. I have bought 4 bikes from them. Unfortunately their mechanic, Kobe, is the reason that I will not go there anymore. I gave him the benefit of the doubt too many times...I had enough. Ill drive the extra mile to REI or their Raleigh location. He treats people like he is too cool to be bothered by questions. His standard reply starts with I cannot help you....There are excellent guys there as well, like Steve and Adam, genuinely nice people, but I tell you I have enough respect in my blood not to be treated like s^#t by Kobe. You know, it is sad, I liked these guys very much especially because they are local and they were very nice; I also I did not mind to pay extra to support locals.Alight alright alright...I understand it,...it is Covid time and bikes are hotter than toilet paper....but it will come to pass and perhaps then Kobe will be nicer but I wont be there to see that.
Great working with both Steve and Mike - these guys know bikes and enjoy working with their customers. I purchased a Diverge Pro and loving it!
Nice store. Very helpful staff. Nice guys. Completely satisfied even though Im now broke. :-)
I cannot thank Chris at The Bicycle Chain in Apex enough for his help with my conversion to tubeless wheels. He was extremely polite, helpful and professional. Their customer service is the best I have found in the area and had a feel like the way shops used to be back in the day. It’s hard to get an experience like this these days so get out and support them as much as you can!
Steve is very knowledgeable, thorough, honest, and customer-focused. He educates the customer striving to meet the customer’s needs and not just sell what is in stock.
CHRIS AND COLBY ARE DYNAMITE🧨🧨🧨! Everytime I have a bike issue they are so very awesome with speed of service and kind with their customer interaction! 🥇YOU DESERVE A BONUS!💰💵😁
We had great service from Mike picking out some bikes during this challenging season where there are so few. He was very informative, patient with our questions, and insightful to help determine what would be the best fit for our goals and price range.
Staff is very helpful and friendly. They take the time to help and answer questions.
The staff at the Bicycle Chain are top-notch. I havent been on a bike in 20 years (I got old and fat), but I decided to change that this year. I ordered a bike online and my tires lost air after one day. I took the bike in, fully expecting to replace inner tubes, but the staff took a look and realized I hadnt tightened the locknut on the valve. (I had never dealt with Presta valves before.) They took the time to educate me and then went ahead and adjusted the handle bar bracket too! They didnt make me feel stupid and were very encouraging about me getting back on a bike. Thats how you earn a customer for life!
Their mechanic has a serious attitude problem. When he said he didn’t recognize the brake manufacturer I suggested a phone call. “You want to pay me $80/hour to make a phone call?” was his snarky reply. This was after talking to someone on the phone about this specific bike and then bringing the bike to the shop. Big waste of my time. Nope, I wouldn’t want to pay him to get anywhere near my bike.
Great people and a great place to buy and service bicycles ! Wouldnt even consider going anywhere else .
Haven’t ridden in awhile but these guys were awesome. Good advice and great service. I really need them to open a shop near me.
Very helpful and passionate in their work! Thank you to Chris who helped me with adjusting my bike saddle height. Will be back here again!
Weve bought a couple bikes from them. Theyre always helpful and they take great care of the bikes. Well continue to shop with them.
I went in to look for a replacement crank. They didnt have the part I needed in stock, and unfortunately it was on back order, but thats to be expected with the huge surge in demand lately. Still, they were extremely helpful, knowledgeable, and engaging, even considering the thousand different questions that I asked. I have definitely found my go to spot for all things biking. Thanks again you guys!
What a great experience this has been. I recently purchased a new bicycle from The Bicycle Chain. After riding it several times I had some questions and needed some help understanding the best way to dial in the suspension and keep the pressures in check. Zach took the time to walk me through the procedure and helped me find the tools I would need to do it. He adjusted the bike to what he thought would work best as a starting point. The difference in the way the bike rides now is day and night to what it was. Now I know how to control these variables and keep them dialed in.
Good service and reasonable price...Im not a fancy bike person and Im frugal (cheap). So when my brake cable broke, I went to Walmart and checked out their one size fits all package of 4 cables for $10. I had to non-destructively open the package just to determine that none of the 4 cables would work for me. On the way home I drove past the Bicycle Chain on Highway 55 in Apex/Cary. Showed the mechanic ?Colby? my broken cable and he hooked me up right away with a cut to length outer casing and long inner cable and an assortment of end fittings. He did it quickly, with a no-nonsense but friendly demeanor, and it cost me about $10. Well worth it! I reassembled my brake system the next day and it was a pleasure to do so with quality parts. While fixing the rear brake, I realized that I had a broken spoke. Back to ?Colby? at the Bicycle Chain for a couple of spokes and spoke nuts and a spoke wrench and plenty of free advice. This time $12. Again, well worth it.I should also mention that the visits were at 6 PM on Saturday night and 4:30 PM on Sunday afternoon. Love that they were open then!
Great experience overall. I ordered my bike online through their website and was notified of an expected pick up date. The bike came in almost a week early and they called to let me know it was ready. Friendly staff and mechanics made the experience even better. I will most definitely come back to this shop.
Resurrecting my old bike and these folks are great to work with. Will definitely go back for future maintenance.
Mike & the team at Bicycle Chain Apex are wonderful! They helped me track down a BMX bike during the craziness of a pandemic & Christmas. I knew *nothing* about it & he helped to be sure I got exactly what I needed for my almost 9 year old. I’ll be back for service, add ons & future purchases!
Great experience! Colby helped me out with educating me about the issues with my bike and what to do when I run into a specific problem. The service was high quality and reliable.
Fantastic customer service. They took the time to make sure I bought the right bike, not just the bike they had in stock. The owners were extremely knowledgeable and helpful. Best buying experience!
I bought 5 bikes and accessories from Zach in 3 days. Each time I came in he was always very helpful and professional. I am so happy to have found a hometown bike store that I can go into and feel comfortable in! Zach took the time (each time!) to talk with me and my family about what our best options were-I really appreciate that!
Great service! I had a busted front derailer cable and Chris helped me out in a matter of minutes. Got help picking out a new helmet and watched some of Le Tour while I was waiting.
These guys are always extremely helpful and informative, I always go here for our bikes!
I had visited a few bike stores in the Cary/Morrisville/ Apex area before this one and everyone there was far more helpful and much, much mire friendly. I would recommend this store and team for that reason alone; however, they are very knowledgeable and take their time with the customer, want to make sure youre comfortable and satisfied with your purchase. A+ team!
I wanted a commuter bike that was a good value - a quality bike (a step up from Big Box stores) with being excessively expensive. The employee knew exactly what I meant and showed me a bike within 10 seconds that was perfect. I ride it every day to work and its been awesome. The shifting is smooth, the brakes work well, the frame is relatively light, and it fits me well. Further, I came in for a tune up after a month and I was in and out in 15 minutes with no charge. Ive been impressed with all of the employees Ive met. Theyre not just ringing things up at the cash register, but are good at listening and making suggestions that meet specific needs at a reasonable price. This store is a great asset to have in the area.
Very knowledgeable, friendly staff. I ended up having to go to the Chapel Hill location for the bike I wanted, but the staff at Apex was very helpful and called ahead to make sure they had what I wanted in stock. I look forward to coming back to my local Apex store for service and accessories.
Best bike shop in the area. I have purchased multiple bikes from the Apex location and I keep coming back. Great customer service -- friendly, helpful and responsive. The store manager (Steve) is freaking awesome! I cant say enough great things about him. He worked on my Specialized Roubaix back in the 2012 timeframe (as their top mechanic) to address a warranty issue and is now running the store. Great to see the Bicycle Chain taking care of their people and promoting from within. Highly recommended.
The bicycle chain has been my go to bike shop for almost 10 years now and I can honestly say there’s no better shop around. Being part of a “larger chain”, (pun intended?) they have access to any and every part you can possibly want, usually on hand if not a few days away. Their staff has always been super friendly, helpful, and professional.I recently purchased a bike from them and overall the entire experience was perfect. Staff works with you to find the best bike for you while giving you all the information you can possibly want so you know you’re getting the best bike for you. They aren’t just some box store or a one brand only store, so you know you’ll get the best selection and best price.Whether you’re starting out or an experienced rider, you’ll feel right at home working with these guys. 11/10 would recommend (and do often).
One of best!!! We bought TWO bicycles from them, and stopped by few times for tuneup and their service and expertise is ONE of the BEST!!! Thank you for doing a great job and keep up the great work.
Knowledgeable, fast, and excellent customer service. Steve (manager) was very nice and helpful getting to the root of a drive-train issue, which turned out to not be simply derailleur alignment, and took a second look at no charge to fully resolve it.
Drove out of my way to come here and glad I did. Very nice, helpful and honest staff, gave me a used seat post at a bargain price
These guys are the best. Ive looked around the Raleigh and found that a lot of bike store employees can be arrogant and not very helpful. Not the case here. These guys are great.
I needed to replace a worn out bike for my daughter and we met Andrea. She worked with us until we found the right bike. This is the third bike I’ve purchased from this location. Knowledgeable staff, great service when you need it and a very impressive selection of bikes.
I normally dont write reviews but customer service at this place is so amazing that it inspired me to write this. I was introduced to this store by a friend of mine and bought my first Specialized bike from them during last years black Friday sale. They listen to their customers and provide amazing customer service. Lots of times they dont even charge for small tweaks which I have needed from time to time for my bike. They have become my goto place for all my biking needs.
I recently purchased a 2020 Specialized Stumpjumper 29r from Bicycle Chain - Cary/Apex. I had been looking for just the right bike for me for last 6 months after moving to Raleigh from California. I contacted Zach Howard by phone at the Apex store and and he was able answer all my questions and recommended a Stumpjumper in stock at the store. I bought it the same day. Zach was friendly, informative and knowledgeable and was able to help me decide on the right bike. So far the Stumpjumper has performed very well on the local trails and Im very pleased. Great experience overall.
Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Steve is full of good information and advice for anyone interested in cycling. They mainly sell Specialized bikes here. They have various accessories and parts available too, as well as a service department. Their inventory on shoes could be better. I wound up having to find my size of shoe at All Star bike shop in Cary. Would rather do business with Steve at the Bicycle Chain.
Representative was uninterested in speaking tome about upgrading my tires which I was prepared to purchase. He then answered the phone and never returned or asked if I needed any further help so I left the store. I had a similar experience the last time I was in the store as well but thought the previous experience was a fluke. Im sure the location has good reps but I must have gotten the one ready to punch out.
Open floor, moderate selection of Specialized products. Knowledgeable and friendly (Steve was on receipt), willing to talk shop. Spacing protocols and shielding, but no one wearing masks.
Shopping for and purchasing a bike here was a pleasure. The team spent time with me explaining the different bikes and listening to my needs. They ordered, built and inspected my bike so it was running perfectly. I love the ride and am very pleased with their service.
These guys rock. Demod a bike and finally ended up buying it and I had a great rental and purchase experience!
Very helpful and friendly. Great customer service. I plan to take my bike there exclusively.
Exceptional customer service. Guided me the perfect hybrid for me and have serviced it thoroughly.
Very nice environment. very nice customers. But I didnt compare different shop. This is my first bicycle shop. I went there twice. Today and last time. They fix m front wheel. Probably change the tube. I was charged for $19.29. I chatted with two guys, the customers. One said he bought a bike there. I dont know what the other guy do. But we are very friendly to me.
Steve, Josh and all the staff are outstanding. Top bike pros, professional, trustworthy, willing to share knowlege. Have bought several bikes from them and go to them for all our bike related needs.
Great experience & service here. Had my new bike (assembled by me) inspected and tuned up for road safety.
Great folks. Great service department.
They know there stuff! I was outfitted and out the door with a great Specialty brand bike in no time.
Knowledgeable, friendly staff.Specialized and Cannondale bikes sold here.Complete repair and upgrade shop.Clothing, helmets, and accessories are top quality. Also in stock: electric bikes.Knowledge of local bicycle scene, clubs, rides and low traffic areas to ride. Employees are bike riders also!
We had a borrowed bike we needed serviced in short order. We were taking a ride through a national park and didnt want any surprises. They were busy but professional. When we said wed take it elsewhere we were asked to bring it in and hed see how much work it needed. After a quick but thorough check up he tightened some screws, pumped up the tires and sent us on our way. No charge. Anymore bicycle needs we know where well be shopping. Thanks for a most positive experience!!
I give them 6 stars! I had a very simple bike repair and it was completed while I waited for less than I expected to pay. These guys are professional and friendly. They have my business when I purchase my next bike!
Very helpful people, and good wide spacious place. Someone helped me put on a tire, and worked hard to help me find stuffs I need.
Went in to see if an older bike rack was worth fixing. The employees at Bicycle Chain tried to fix it but needed a new part, so they called the bike rack company, which sent a completely new bike rack. The Bicycle Chain did this without charging me, and were very quick with the turnaround. Super friendly too!
Swung by here to check out some mountain bikes as the one I bought used seemed to be on its last legs (or wheels). After demoing a really nice Specialized bike but not in the position to buy I reluctantly asked Zach to take a look a my current bike. He was able to fix a few things (I wont say what as to not embarrass myself) somewhat easily. He took alot of time to talk about everything from trails to frame fit to different price points as well. Learned quite a bit and am very grateful for the help which made my day. Highly recommend this shop and will only do business here in the future.
Found my new bike shop! Thank u, and i will b a return customer!
Best bike shop around. Every time I go in here I get good advice on bikes, gear, and maintenance and the prices are always reasonable. I won’t be going anywhere else while I live in this area!
Great help, came in with a flat tire and the guys helped me out immensely. Excellent customer service, very very fair prices.
Absolutely Wonderful people! Highly recommend. We received the best recommendations and service.
Wonderful experience and great service. They went above and beyond to help me out with a frustrating tire/wheel challenge that I had been working on. Highly recommend.
We are traveling through South Carolina and needed advice about how our bike rack was performing. We got immediate service, and it was obvious the worker cared about helping us figure out what was going on. He was able to tighten it up, and sent us on our way without charging us for the time. Thanks so much!
Steve was great and showed us a number of options in the range we wanted to pay. Steve understood what we needed.
This is my go to bike shop. The staff is always friendly and helpful. I have had my bike in the shop for repairs recently and they have done a great job and got my bike back on the road quickly and for a reasonable price. I used to do all my own repairs but I trust them more than I trust me :-) . Thanks Dan for getting my bike back on the road.
Good selection of bikes and gear and the staff are knowledgeable about bikes and are very helpful
Best service, ever if you are into biking and have issues with the bike. This is the place to go. The young guys in the back are awesome and skilled!
They are here to make money out of you. It was my first experience with pumping air into a tire with a Presta valve. Accidentally I unscrewed the bolt all together and the valve body fell in the tube. Called these guys and got a answer that I need to buy a tube. Went there got the tube. Asked how could I pump into this tire with a normal pump. Guy there shows me a $40 pump. I ask him is there any other alternative. He says no. And then when I push again asking for a adapter, he gives me one. I come back home, remove the old tube, and was able to locate the valve body in the tube and easily put it back. Now the $8 tube was unnecessary, still I am keeping it.
Phenomenal customer service and quality of work. I would definitely recommend bringing your bike here!
Awesome, awesome folks. They speak with you like they have known you for years. Service is top notch with extremely accurate troubleshooting. They target the exact issue. They have a customer for life as long as I live in N.C. I would refer to other folks as well.
I recently needed a recommendation for a new fork for my Crosstrail that would allow me to lock it so I could pedal out of the seat without the front suspension robbing power. John worked with me over the phone patiently to find the right product. It has worked out perfectly for my needs. I dont visit the shop much but these guys really make you feel at home. Highly recommended!David O.
Their service department has major communication issues. Sadly, this office is by far the closest shop to my house, or I’d go elsewhere. The last 3 times I’ve dropped my bike off, they don’t call or text when it’s complete. It’s always completed after the date they say it will be completed. I always have to double check the work they do, as things are missed. A brake handle not properly reattached, tire not properly repaired, brake cables “serviced” without replacing any of the sheathing or lubricating anything.I really don’t trust much of what’s been told to me by their staff, and they certainly give the impression they could care less about my business.
Best experience i’ve had in a bike shop. My husband was looking for an entry level mountain bike. He is well versed on road and TT bikes, but mtn bikes were new to us. We stopped in very last minute (one hour before closing the day before christmas!) and Zach helped us figure it all out. We left with a great mtn bike that will start us in a new direction. Test rides of 3 different bikes. Zach shared so much of his knowledge with us that we left feeling very confident and happy. Zach even showed us where to find trail info online and reviewed the essential maintenance schedule with us. He was so patient and generous and we were buying an entry level bike! Some shops just ignore you if you are at entry level. Hats off to Zach and the whole team at the Apex Bicycle Chain because they are there to truly help people no matter the price tag. I’ll be sending everyone i know to this location because i can be sure they will get treated with respect and have a quality experience.
Very knowledgeable
My experience was really good. My helper name was Steve.Steve was really nice he let us exchange a older model bike for a new one.he ordered a bike what was not in the store and we did not know if we wanted to buy it but they let us try it.Since they were really nice we will all ways go their if i need to exchange a bike or i need a new bike! Thank you Bicycle chain!
The knowledge and service provided to shoppers is BEST anywhere. They have all that is needed for biking and accessories. Id be 5 star if they had more selection. But this is the recommended place I send everyone to!
Super helpful and detailed because they know what they’re doing and care.
Great service and excellent, knowledgeable staff here. Ordered an expensive road bike through them in order to get my size. Only had me put $200 down as a deposit on a couple thousand dollar bike. Was in the store and assembled in a couple days. I had to pick up late due to work, and they were extremely patient with me, even took the time (after the shop had closed) to get it properly fitted to me. It was amazing how patient they were and kind to stay at least 30-45 mins just to help one customer. Never felt rushed or like an inconvenience. HIGHLY recommend.
Always awesome help...whenever I drop in Steve is always extremely knowledgeable and helpful even when I ask obvious ones ;)
These guys are great! I called 2 other bike shops in the area and they were both very rude on the phone. I called Bicycle Chain and they were very helpful with my questions. I will recommend them to anyone who has cycling needs.
Very knowledgeable staff, friendly atmosphere (few folks in there are bike snobs). Great selections of high end bicycles. Theyre open on Saturdays!!!!
Great customer service and quick, quality work
Just wanted to say a big thank you to The Bicycle Chain for helping me out with some lost parts. They were very helpful and took care of my issue and got me the parts I needed. Would recommend these guys to anyone. Thanks
