My friend and I went to Valley Diner on a Saturday morning, called ahead to see if we needed reservation but didnt. We got there and were seated right away. The staff was friendly, brought us our beverages right away and took our order promptly. The food was really good. My friend got the Galaxie Grand Omlette, I had the country fried steak and French toast. The omlette was the fluffiest Ive ever had. Overall a great first time. Definitely would try again.
My neighbor Jessie & I went here for breakfast because we HAD TO HAVE a breakfast burrito & not too many places in Apple Valley have breakfast burritos on their menus. Valley Diner did not disappoint! If you’re craving a breakfast burrito like we were, you must come here. Our server, Hayden, was attentive, kind and just all around very pleasant. She definitely is an asset to Valley Diner! Thank you Hayden for your great service! See you soon!
No idea what food the positive reviewers are eating, but stay home and make a better tasting breakfast yourself. The hot Chai tasted like a keurig cup, but cost $5. Eggs are the typically fast order rubber, with no flavor. My breakfast burrito had no flavor, other than the salsa. A breakfast for two, with orange juice and coffee that costs $50 needs to be better than this.
Our server Haden was FANTASTIC! Kind, courteous, and prompt! Answered our questions, served with a smile! Food was great, had the eggs benedict and the veggie omelet w/ fruit! We will be back!!!
Nice spot. Friendly, clean, great food
Hayden was our server and she was fantastic! On top of our food and drinks and super friendly. Great breakfast spot!
Food is so delicious. Portions are big. Waitress was nice and very informative. Establishment is decorated with Marilyn Monroe, James Dean, Elvis Presley. Busy on the weekends. Closes by 3pm, so makes it hard to go for dinner.
Room temp waffle with cold butter and cold syrup. No offers to refill my coffee. Though they were quick to drop off the tab.
It’s cute on the inside. The wait staff were very nice but they weren’t very attentive to anyone. It was weird. They were all huddled around the shake station most of the time. For not being very busy, we waited an hour for food. Looked like one cook. The omelette was good but could use more filling on the inside. It was nearly all egg. The Greek salad was very small. All in all - food is good, not great. Service was nice but not attentive. Probably won’t go back.
Just left the local diner and very disappointed. My party of 4 and 1 child sat in our seats for 15 minutes before being attended to. We were never given water until our food came and had no silverware until we asked for it. The food wasnt bad, but never once the did the waitress come over and ask how our food was or if we needed anything. We had to wait another 15 minutes after we ate for her to even come over to us. At that point she left the bill and simply walked away. The sad part is were the there for the first time and had brought another waitress friend with us visiting from out of town. It was the worst customer service I have experienced in years..All of this while the restaurant was only about 15% to capacity.
Inconsistent service, sometimes terrible food. Ive been there a handful of times so COVID-19. Im trying to visit locally owned restaurants. I either get a server that is wonderful or one that totally ignores me even though its a mostly empty restaurant. Some food is ok, nothing special like breakfast menu. Their sandwiches tend to be all bread no filling. Two days ago, I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich. The white bread was all large chewy crusts, not chewy in a good way. The bread was barely grilled. The 2 peices of sliced cheese had not melted at all. If not for the thick crust, the sandwich reminded me of a type of sandwich that you would give a 5 year old - plain white bread and a slice of American cheese. Worst sandwich I ever bought. Im all for helping local establishments but they need to provide decent food and service.
Scratch made hollandaise sauce was amazing. Pancakes nice and fluffy, but not doughy.
Best Breakfast I have ever had. Big portions sizes . Friendly staff great and fast service. We love eat in there Highly recommend
The service was great and our waitress, Hayden, was super nice and was great at her job.
Clean, friendly, extensive diner menu with some untraditional items like gyros and falafel sandwich! The staff was warm and attentive. Definitely will return...with friends! (FYI: May be a little tricky to find because the design of the building puts the storefront on a one way street, with some on-street parking, but the sensible place to enter is from the parking lot side to the south).
We had the gyros. They were somewhat disappointing, because the tzatziki sauce, an essential part of gyros, seemed to have taken a key ingredient- shortcut. First of all, an authentic-tasting natural yogurt, such as Old Home Plain Yogurt is needed. Then, dont skimp on cucumber, garlic, olive oil and lemon juice. This MAKES the gyro experience! The people here are great and its a nice place for regular visits ~ breakfast, lunch and dinner!
Great extensive Diner Menu. The diner is busy and service is attentive. We did have a new server in training and the staff covers each other. The hash browns are usually fabulous. Today they werent and they cheerfully remade the order. Waffles, French toast. Pancakes, omelettes, etc are all tasty. 5 types of (bread) toast are offered. Locally owned and non franchisee business.
Its fine, if not a little expensive for what you get, but comparable to others in the area. Coffee was OK and servers were very attendant.
Great breakfast and even better server! Thank you Hayden!
This is diner food done Right! The burgers and French dip are as nostalgic and comforting as the 50s music and decor that youll find near the Heart of Apple Valley.I was also happily surprised to see the offer espresso along with many other coffee options if youre not ready for a thick and delicious malt.If you enjoy breakfast and diner eats and havent found this place, do yourself a favor and hop on by.
Super delicious breakfast food. If you order from DoorDash, be sure to note/ask ‘to add syrup, butter, or any kind of condiments’ to your order. Otherwise you’ll be eating pancakes with nothing to put on it. Nothing worse then eating dry pancakes. Speaking from personal experience...multiple times.
Great food and customer service! Friendly
Long time customer at the diner. I went for ice cream with my nephew and was served by the owner. He was standing at the ice cream register counting the receipts when we walked up to the counter. He did not look up or acknowledge us at all even when I tried to order he kept doing what he was doing. It was extremely rude. We finally got our milkshakes 15 min later. They were definitely worth the wait. Ive never had a bad experience at the diner until this one but considering it was the owner and not some teenage kid I will not be returning.
Clean, friendly diner, the food was great and fast, The staff was warm and attentive. Definitely will return for more ...with friends!
Waited 45 min after being told about 10-20 min for a table. They ended up giving our table away and waited a while longer. Once we finally sat we waited Briefly for someone to take our drink order. The wait for the drinks should have been a better indication of what to expect to follow. The food started trickling out but it wasn’t the food we ordered so we waited a while longer. 45 min later we were served with bland, cold French toast but no one bothered to ask so we ate the food we were now overly hungry for.I can’t say we will drive out of our way again for this service.
We tried breakfast. If you have hours to wait for eggs, then enjoy. Service poor food ok and to top it off a waitress accidentally poured two glasses of ice water on a patron but no accolades offered l8je a free meal or anything. They left with soaked back, no manager appeared or anything to apologize. Shame this could be a cute fun place. Also they wipe table with a great yucKy cloth from a bucket of greasy water. I didn’t notice this until we were leaving. Not ever going back.
I drove 21 minutes to get there as the website indicated that it was open, but when I arrived it was closed. Signs posted stating they were closed until the 28th of August!! Google told me it was open!!:/
I went to eat here with my 2 year old son on a busy Sunday. I imagined there would be a wait which was ok however the food was the actual longest wait as it took 1 hour to come out. We had a veggie omelette and eggs Benedict. The omelette was mostly fluffy eggs with hardly any veggies feels like the eggs had too much heavy cream because the texture was almost foamy. Eggs Benedict were average; nothing special. The only thing I loved here was the cheese curds which I ordered to go and got before my meal even made it out so we had to eat that first. The fruit had slices of bruised bananas. The coffee was weak. The service was pretty good the waitresses were polite and checked on us several times. Honestly as far as food goes there was nothing special or unique to it here. I was disappointed.
Breakfast was great on really busy Sunday, waitstaff was very nice and fast! We really love this place and will be back.
Food is okay, service could be better.
Friendly staff, but the breakfast food is not worth the wait. I got a gyro omelette and it did not come with the sauce it needed and had many an eggshell throughout. It was mostly undercooked fluff and not much substance. My friend had the coffee and said it tasted burnt. I’ve eaten take out here before and found the food to be underwhelming.
Food was good not great. Service was as expected for fathers day brunch. They were swamped but did their best to accommodate.
Wow and wow again. Great food. Huge portion, very friendly, did not wait for a coffee refill, food hot and plentiful. Our server was the owner.very nice.will be going back and bring more friends.
We went to Valley Diner for lunch today. I suggested it because we wanted to support a small local business. Well not only was our food not seasoned the cook had his mask under his chin. We havent had covid and eating out is one of the things we quit doing as a precaution. Thanks to the cook today we will continue to stay home and eat. I guess support isnt needed.
The water has a chemical aftertaste. Ive tried 3 different glasses. Weve been sitting here for almost 25 min after ordering and no food yet.
I ordered pickup through DoorDash, showed up 20 minutes later, they told me I only ordered one meal and I told them that was incorrect and they insisted that I only had one meal, after a while they saw that I had two. While my other meal sat there, on top of the ice cream cooler, they cooked the other meal, and forgot to put the avocado and the toast in the second meal. 🤦🏻♂️ I don’t mean to be a Karen, but I just wish people payed more attention to detail.
Service was great, food was just ok.
Very good food. Very good service
We made the mistake of coming within an hour of close so we rushed ourselves (the server did NOT make us) They were out of fries and dt Coke. LOL. But they had Coke zero and they substituted waffle fries so it was fine. She said they were out because they had been busy. Which is great, since this is a local, small business. Happy to support.
The extra table space really felt safe. Service was wonderful. Great breakfast menu.
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was superb!
Service was incredibly slow. Wait staff were constantly apologizing to the tables around us for forgotten items, wrong food, etc. Food did not arrive as described in the menu. We wont return.
Great food! Cute little diner. Delicious malts made right thry even give you the metal mixer cup too.
Favorite place for Sunday morning breakfast!
The waitress we were set with was very dismissive and seemed to only care about her food. We were then served with jumbo tater tots that were ice cold in the middle. We should have up and left then since the food after not only was lackluster, it was served in such small proportions for a hefty price. The manager proceeded to tell us they had the best Cajun good wed have... what a joke. I highly advise you to stay away from Valley Diner 🤢
Great food, big portions. Coffee could have been hotter.
Came here all the way from Savage for the first time. We were not disappointed! Good coffee, food, and service. Our waitress gave us recommendations from the menu and what her favorites are. She also said that the omelets are the fluffiest and best in the MN. I would agree that we have never had an omelet made so well. We will be back for sure. Not sure whats going on with this place? We usually stop for breakfast Sunday before we do erronnds. The past two visits have not been as good. We went a few weeks ago the service was okay, but the food was cold. We were compensated for the issue. Today 2/3/2020 we were seated promptly. Usually we are asked if we would like coffee or something to drink as we are being seated or shortly after. After 10 min. without any kind of acknowledgement we walked out! Not sure if well be back again. Seemed like all the regular staff was off or dont work there anymore. However that shouldnt matter.Decided to give them one last chance, and its their last. We waited over 45 minutes for our food. We noticed others were getting food that ordered way after us. Ask our server whats taking so long? She replied I just checked on your order and it will be out soon. During that time my wife went to the restroom and noticed what she ordered waiting on the pass. 10 minutes later food came to the table, and what my wife suspected was true. Ice cold pancakes and eggs. We walked out never to return. Obviously something needs to change with three terrible services in a row! Ooh if you want an omelet with the meat and veggies on the plate covered with the egg instead of in the omelet; go here. Thats changed since our first time also when I raved about the omelets.
I had pulp in my water and she tried to charge me for sprite that wasnt even strong enough and tasted like it had been sitting in a bottle with no cap .
Over one hour wait for for food! Sunday busy. Serving one table at a time. Took it to go. Hashbrowns undercooked. But the omlette was fluffy
Good pancakes and bacon. Friendly staff.
I’ve read the recent reviews regarding COVID concerns, but haven’t noticed any of those during my visit. They have signs hung up stating they’re “now hiring”. Even if they’re currently short staffed. They have stepped up and provided fantastic service as if they were fully staffed. My partner and I had no issues with our food. In fact, they didn’t skimp on portions either. Coffee comes with free refills which is always enjoyable at a breakfast place.10/10 will be coming back again. Glad to support a local business who serves their customers well.
Had a poor experience at Valley Diner this afternoon. Beyond the food issues (no cheese in omelet, stale toast, cold sausage), the diner isnt taking Covid seriously. Tables arent sanitized after use, still using full menus that arent sanitized after use, cooks arent wearing masks, and no social distancing signage/markers. Its too bad. This used to be a nice little neighborhood diner.
Best breakfast i have ever had. amazing portions sizes and just overall amazing.
Their menu was good, good prices, great service, not crowded. Our friend usually has breakfast and lunch here. Would definitely go again. Its a little gem hidden away. I hope you enjoy it!
Pancakes and French toast are good. But breakfast skillet dishes lack ingredients... I have maybe 2 mushrooms and 4 pieces of meat in mine and my husbands breakfast burrito was almost completely just hash browns inside. I don’t think this is the norm for this place.
Ive eaten there plenty of times in the past. Its a nice decent place to eat. No complaints I guess I should add that the place looks really clean. One of the reasons I choose this place over others is the seating arrangement and scenery.
Excellent. Perfect diner experience .. shakes, burger, and falafel.
Our waitress was Ramah and she didn’t even introduce herself. The cook was very friendly but the food was just ok. Over all the customer service was bad though wouldn’t recommend….
My family orders from Valley Diner quite often and its delicious everytime. It is one of our favorite places to eat! They have yummy options for breakfast, lunch and dinner! My husband, my 1 year old son and myself absolutely love their french fries! The best weve ever had 😋
Absolutely remarkable food and service. Im going back for more with friends.
Good food, short staffed
Classic diner fare with a small-town neighborly vibe. So far have not had anything even mildly disappointing from the menu.
I had a really nice experience at the Valley Diner! I ordered a breakfast sandwich, and it was delicious. The bacon was prepared perfectly! There were a couple of moments where I could tell staff members were less experienced, but everyone was kind and friendly. I would not recommend this place for a quick bite, but its a great place to catch up with friends.
Fast friendly great food and large menu!
A family favorite of ours. Highly recommended. Best breakfast in the galaxy!
We have two kids, and we love going to Valley Diner together. They have the most fresh, tasteful breakfast in the area. Their staff is always fast, polite, not bothersome, and always aware if youre getting low on something. Must go if youre visiting, looking for an after church spot, or your needing a new breakfast meeting place with friends to relax and enjoy the atmosphere. They offer quick dine-out service as well.
Always great food, great service and a very good price. My coffee cup is always full. The omelet is fluffy full of veggies. The hashbrowns were crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. No complaints from me.
Great meatloaf and gyros. Always great for breakfast PB&J French Toast is YUMMY! Wait staff is so friendly. This is our favorite local diner. Highly recommend.
Great little breakfast spot! Try to get there early on weekends as it fills up pretty quick. Food is great, lots of options and very reasonable is price. Highly recommend! Only thing lacking is their bathrooms, they could use a little TLC. Just don’t drink too much coffee and you’ll be fine 😁
Second time our order was canceled off door dash. So we called and asked why it was canceled yet again for no reason. Some excuse about how they were out of cheese curds so they had to cancel the entire order. No contact to us, wanted to support locally but will not even be trying. If you cannot compete an order you need to tell me why. Poor service.
We love to stop into the valley dinner for breakfast from time to time. They have great prices and a very nice staff. It seems to be a very nice hidden gem in the heart of Apple Valley.
This is a staple diner and I dont frequent this place enough. I love getting my breakfast here because of the quality and the price. The staff is also friendly and attentive. Its got that good warm feeling you know.
5 minute wait for a table, another 45 minute wait for food, why have so many tables when you cannot cook for that many people.
Delicious biscuits and gravy
Great food.
A welcome surprise! Real, fresh home cooked food served at your table in an almost-but-not-quite retro environment. NOT JUST a breakfast place: lots of choices for pancakes, waffles, burgers, wraps, soups and salads, dinners, pasta, malts, shakes and a kids menu with any choice for a fixed price. Was a challenge to choose just one, so I picked the fluffy omelet: eggs fluffed and served over the ingredients, an unusual and welcome presentation for a delicious dish. The welcoming environment, service and food brought back memories of a past and more relaxed time when meals were more social and less hurried.
I celebrated my graduation this evening in this great restaurant. happy to tell that we had a sensational evening and the restaurant was indeed one of the reasons for this strong event. The waiters helped in a very nice style, the food was delicious and my guests were very joyful. We shall no dout visit again for more events. thanks very much.
I’ve gotta give you guys a perfect 5/5 the atmosphere is very cozy and they play some very relaxing music while you dine. The staff are very attentive to everyone’s needs including my own. My rodeo omelette came nice and hot. I took my first bite and immediately fell in love with the place. The food here is very good. This was my first visit and I must say I will definitely be back. I left feeling full and very satisfied.
Its always great food here. I got the cheese burger that has the cheese inside of it. And the only reason I did not give the 5th star was there was a piece of bacon or something in the meat, other than that everything else was great 😊
Our Family loves coming to the Valley Diner for brunch after Church on Sundays. Their staff is always so outstanding and we love the hometown feeling they provide. Our Family highly recommends the Valley Diner as they serve breakfast, lunch and supper and has a lot of choices for everyone!
Atmosphere is so-so. Food is fantastic and reasonably priced. Service is good and friendly.
Valley Diner never disappoints
Always awesome!
Great fries... decent breakfast... fun ice cream flavors. This is a great neighborhood diner. We love walking over in the summer for a treat. Comfortable seating too and a little space with toys in back for kiddos... which helps when grown ups need to talk.
New Go-to place for me and my boyfriend. Super good food. Good coffee. Fun atmosphere. Elvis burger is amazing. Looks scary at first of account of the peanut butter, but I recommend it.
I eat here a lot since I work close by. I have to say the service is always excellent and they keep the place well kept constantly. Prices are convenient and they serve sizeable portions.
Great staff and food!
Great food. Fabulous service.
Incredibly delicious. Even the hash browns were good! Actually browned. Eggs were amazing, wait staff was super friendly. Cute atmosphere too. Definitely going to come here often!
Sorry to report my breakfast was not good. Eggs ordered over medium were hard. Took over an hour to get served and get a bill. Valley Diner will not be on my list for breakfast in the future.
Food is not the same every time you go as far as quality
