A great place to stroll around. Plenty of local shops selling art, garden decor, and books. There are also a few bars and restaurants. Check out Cafe Brio, which has some of Californias best coffee and pastries north of San Francisco (and competitive with the city, as well!)Also wonderful to visit the Farmers Market, where there is often live music, dancing, and people just hanging out on the lawn. A great central area for Arcata. Well worth a visit!
The plaza includes a nice lawn where you can relax and some shops and restaurants you can walk to. Parking is OK, but if there is an event, you may need to park a couple blocks away.If you are looking for a calm, relaxing day where you can tour some unique shops, etc. this is a nice place to visit.
Fun place to be on weekends for the weekly farmers market and local events. Definitely a nice place to kill a couple hours as long as there is an event.
Has many different types of stores. Well maintained. Has a really fun farmers markets on Saturdays
Always enjoy the farmers market when I visit the area. Great little shops everywhere. This is an old town that has not sold its soul!
It was pretty fun I seem to go there whenever theyre having some sort of Celebration and its very busy and busy comma however when I think about it later it seems like it was just sort of boring.. go or dont go depending upon your threshold for entertainment. Oh, PS it looks like theres about 3 or 4 bars next to each other that would have some potential for fun at night :)
Be prepared to be accosted by homeless. But! If youre down for some day drinking or excellent comfort food, and into making weird random friends, this is the place.
Great place to hang out and walk around. Many community events, such as the Farmers Market and start of the Kinetic Sculpture Race.
Awesome shopping, boutique stores, have sushi, get a drink, make a night of it. Something for everyone.
Great place that has bars and restaurants nearby. Plenty of interesting people who are in the town square.
Wonderful Saturday farmers market. Many things to see and buy, they had dozens of vendors, music playing, kids, tourists, students. Wandered around to other shops.
Seems like most of the people reviewing think this is for the actual plaza. Its for the furniture store on the corner.
Great people watching, great people in general. Always musical.
Wonderful place, excellent nearby restaurants, close proximity to crabs field.
Lots of cool activities here almost daily. Worth your time to drive by.
Loved the small market on the square. Great vendors.
An extremely quirky town. This plaza regularly hosts markets and festivals
I dont know what to say. You just have to go there.
A great place to meet up, centrally located, east to find. Parking is kind of a pain, but thats everywhere in Arcata.
Nice area downtown to come and see for sure
To avoid confusion... the green space is called the Arcata Plaza. Somehow this Google listing is connected to a furniture/gift store that sits adjacent to the Arcata Plaza and that store is named Plaza. Someone at the City should look into fixing this! The phone should go to City Parks & Rec, not the store!!!
What an awesome place for people watching, farmers markets, and public events. The square offers 360 degree views and a seemingly endless sky.
Nice and cute town to hangout and relax enjoy life.
Lovely plaza, with a great farmers market thats definitely worth a stop.
Good food at Farmers Market
Nice and Interesting never a dull moment
Easiest way to take a deep breath of Arcata.
Lots of gift options, hobo, candles, jewelry and cards. Always worth a look.
Great place for local art supplies.
Great local shop and design Center.
This place is awesome! There are a lot of unique and pretty cool stores around the area. Good places to eat and if you look around that one right corner you might just find a kind of food you never had before. I highly recommend the Jamaican place that is usually off g and 11th i think it is. Little cart. Try it! Its yummy! Its just a little push cart but for real, bring your business to that boy! HEHE! On top of that there are some hippies but they come in peace. mainly just a friendly compliment and a wave. Always open to a good conversation tho, some people just get so caught up in themselves ya know. The kids on the street dont harm anyone or anything really. Might ask for a little spare change but not drama like these guys are talking. Anyways give the plaza a chance. its a chill spot. Obviously tho there is drama between the hippies and the Ball licking Yuppies! PPPHUUCK YOU YUPPIESSSS!!! You dont like the homeless in Arcata or the hippies then GET THE PPPPPHUUUUUCCCCCKKKK OUTTTT!!!!! The hippies, and EVERYONE AND ANYONE, NO MATTER HOW CRAZY, NO MATTER HOW WEIRD, NO MATTER WHO THEY ARE, ARE WELCOME IN ARCATA!!! THATS WHY ARCATA IS ARCTA AND IS NORTHERN HIPPY HILL. GOT A PROBLEM WITH IT? GO COMPLAIN SOMEWHERE ELSE!
