Alves crew arrived like an army of 17 men, ripped off an old wooden shake roof in 5 hours, laid plywood, taped all the seams, felted, nailed up comp roofing with new skylight flashing and all new vent and plumbing flashings. There was a 6 man crew on cleanup... working like mad to haul all the old roofing in tarps across a field to a dumpster. They were done in a day and a half... have never seen anything like that. They were professional and courteous. They loved working for Mike Alves and his sons, said they took really good care of them, bought the best trucks and equipment to make the roofing teams lives easier. PLUS, they cleaned up every scrap. Amazing.... then they came 2 weeks later and installed gutters. Miles was awesome, they did a great job, loved their company. Would give them 10 stars if I could.
Good selection of regular carpet, lots of remnants of various length. Staff was attentive and helpful. Definitely worth a look!
I have nothing, but good things to say about Alves. We recently purchased flooring from them and I have to say they have a ton of options and Stuart the Salesman navigated EVERY different option with us for the house we are working on. He was eager to earn our business and knowledgable on all the products they offer. It is refreshing to be treated so well and promptly, especially in Humboldt. We were in fact going to make a trip up to Home Depot to buy all our flooring, but we just happened to stop by and were pleasantly surprised by their inventory and their pricing. Thanks Alves!
We found the staff at Alves to be friendly and helpful. We absolutely love the flooring we purchased. We highly recommend this company.
Almost Excellent. Some minor errors on a full roofing. Used tarp to protect plants when fabric should have been used. One plant got fried from the sun heating the tarp. The furnace flue was not aligned correctly, touching wood, was corrected by our solar panel guys. The roof window replacements have a square sticker shadow showing from where a sticker had been removed. On the inside, might try one day to clean them off but not too noticeable. Not like youre looking up all the time. Otherwise great price, amazing completion time frame, excellent clean up. Make sure you move your garbage cans if on pickup day to somewhere accessible. Their vehicles can take up curb space. The true test yet to come: winter rain.
Great customer service! Their selection in flooring is outstanding and their staff is knowledgeable without being too pushy! Highly recommend!!!
The Alves Inc paving crewis the most efficient crew I have met and there truck drivers are awesome. There truck drivers did things with those trucks that you only see in movies. One of the workers even helped my mom bring her groceries in the house.
They did a small job on my roof a while ago which they didnt even finish. I unfortunately found this out too late. Months later they redid my neighbors whole roof. They blocked the alley with their dump truck and were very rude when I asked them to move it so that I could get my car out of my garage. It was early in the day so they werent even loading the truck, it was just parked. When they moved the truck they only moved it 10 or so feet back leaving it still completely blocking the alley. I called the office to have them move their truck from being illegally parked and nothing happened. Later on when I looked in the alley I noticed they had left fast food garbage all over the place. Now that I can afford the new roof that I need I will not be calling Alves.
Alves has helped me over the years with roofing repairs, new carpet installation, and road paving -- awesome company, great work, and ethical contractors. Highly recommend!
Work is shotty and rushed, more worried about getting to the next job and dollar signs than quality and care of work. Plenty of local private contractors that would appreciate doing whatever work is needed and do a great job at that.
Unbelievable service. Complete roofing and flooring services. Had my house and garage reroofed with 7 skylight replacements. 15 guys, 8 trucks, one day and spotless clean up. Having 2 homes refloored too.
Called alves for a repair on an actively leaking roof. No call back after 24 hour so I called back the next day and was told they could not locate an old estimate so they had not passed on my job to the workmen. Not only had they not done anything when I specified it was an emergency, they said I would be served in the order the request was received and mine would be submitted 24 hours after my initial call. I confirmed that they had my name and number from initial call and they assured that they did have it, just chose not to pass it on. No apology, no offer to put me at the front of the line, nothing. I suggested it would be wise for me to call another company and they agreed. This company is too busy to be polite, efficient, or decent to customers.
Sold me what appeared to be decent flooring at a good price, didnt inform me it was sifted thru, bottom of the barrel pieces. Got home and the segments were 25% the length of avg pieces(scrap pieces), and even had oil pen marks grading them ‘C’, and slashes. I called back twice, and they would provide the classic, ‘whats youre num, we’ll have the boss call you back’, blowoff tactic. Ended up just installing it(their tactics successful), cost more cause it took the installer 4x longer. If you like to support local business, id suggest elsewhere. Unless of course you prefer a business that also thinks its cool to have a rebel flag placard, distinguishing their emplyee parking spots.
Alves was recommended to us by a friend who had had them install their carpet. We liked the remnants they had available and scheduled an appointment for measuring and bidding. In order to hold the carpet they asked for a $3000 deposit and said they would have the bid to us in the next two days. A week later, after an email and 3 phone calls, no bid, no returned calls. In order to get our deposit back, we had to go back in. They said they had emailed the bid the previous day, maybe a typo? No apology or explanation. It cost them a $7000 job. Cannot do business with a company that cant be bothered with even the most basic communication
Because where else can you drop off busted up concrete asphalt and tile materials for free I know theres going to be reused again thats way cool
The guys are really knowledgeable and experienced in the flooring department, product and installation!
