Giant has the nicest cashiers first of all. They also have items that cannot be found anywhere else. Love this place!!
If I could give 0 starts I would…I’m a customer, parked there to get my groceries and run another errands in the area and in 5 minutes they managed to tow my car. It’s a big scam to take people money. The towed truck is just in the corner and they don’t even care if you are going to shop with them. Would never expect it from Giant, have been a customer for years and it was a unpleasant surprise.Good job Giant you just lost a customer.
One of the better Giant stores in the area! They have improved big time! Extremely friendly staff, and great selection!
They allow a predatory towing company to stalk customers to see if they leave the lot, park on the white line or take too long while shopping. Before entering the store, I received an important phone call and stepped off to the side of the building to talk in the shade. Within five minutes of being on the lot, my car was towed and gone.Keep that in mind, FIVE MINUTES not for the towing process to begin, but for the entire process to have been concluded. If you want to have a pleasant shopping experience and not pay an additional 150 to 250 for some exercise as you walk to the tow lot, do yourself a favor and shop elsewhere.
Ive been coming to this Giant since I was a child before they rebuilt it years ago. The quality of the meat, fruits and vegetables are always the best. The prices and selection are really good too. I like it that the store is not too big. Its big enough to have everything I need but small enough that I can get in and out quickly.
Too strict with the parking lot. I understand that I am at fault for using the parking lot to run an errand elsewhere, however i was planning to then run into this giant and purchase a few groceries since I parked there. Well that wasnt able to happen as my car got towed within 5 minutes of going to pick up a form and coming back to go to Giant. I understand needed the parking lot to not be contasntly crowded, but it was a bit much and I dont want to shop here anymore
Wow, the improvements will make this Giant location real fancy. Itll be like the McLean Giant.
Warning to shoppers: Logically, if one is running multiple errands, the grocery store would generally be the LAST one (ensuring groceries do not spoil in the summer heat). DO NOT park at this Giant if you plan to run multiple errands. They partner with Advanced Towing and have spotters in the parking lot and a truck around the corner. There are signs posted, but they are not necessarily ones you would notice, and their meaning is not entirely clear. Advanced Towing has an F rating by BBB, and a quick Google search seems to indicate that this is a towing company with ethically questionable business practices. If the tow company’s spotters see you walk anywhere else, they will immediately tow your car and you will pay a hefty fee. I suppose the grocery store itself is what one would expect from a Giant, but the affiliation with Advanced Towing should make you think twice about shopping here if you have other options.
It was nice store and stocking up after the weekend...picked up some items while waiting for my wife from office workings..
UPDATE: The number below is bogus - I got accounting. Why not a food safety line. DO NOT BUY THE MEAT!See bloated pictures below. This is now the norm (both turkey and hamburger meat). UPDATE: I called the number below and it is a generic number and after many menu prompts I was routed to accounting(?), who gave me a new number which had 4 more prompts but none made sense (all about ordering). A direct line to food safety would be more helpful. Im posting pictures below of the bloated packages, these taken on 12/8/2020 one week after my original post. This meat is going bad.ORIGINAL: Dont buy the meat! Many packages are now bloated which means the meat is spoiling and gasses are being emitted. Some are very dangerous. They are not controlling the temperature well enough. We had to return meat that was supposedly ok by date, but rancid when we opened it.
While many staff were stocking also blocking where customers needed to be and get to... Seems to have more self service checkout stations and more space in-between now than before. Will see if other services improve... Usually just get clearance stuff for breakfast and/or lunch. Photos attached but kept staff out of pictures. Have reviewed this store and chain before but gone missing again... (Diff account)
Be extremely vigilant parking here. Honestly, it gives me too much anxiety. Whole Foods and Trader Joes are safer lots. This parking lot is enforced by a predatory towing company that uses spotters and will tow cars in a few minutes after parking for any and all minor violations and sometimes no apparent reason at all. Do your research and read other reviews. Dont make any misstep (parking on the white line, stepping one foot off the lot even if going into the store, running a short errand in addition to grabbing groceries, parking crooked, you entering the store but your friend who is with you running an errand across the way, etc). They are lying in wait looking for a reason to tow. Getting groceries should not be such a stressful experience where you are worried if your car will still be there when you are done shopping.
I’m getting so these big warehouse grocery stores are too huge they should be half the size. Post COVID pandemic nowadays people have less to spend on groceries
Always a great place to shop.
Ok so Im biased because I simply love Giant. However, this location is one of my favorites because I can always find what I want, the selection of goods is always on point but the staff here make this Giant what it is. I LOVE the service and always have. Craig, Eric, Nigel, and so many others make shopping here a great experience....if you want great selection and prices AND feel like youre among family, this is the place to shop.
I think the towing policy is too strict. Partner got her car towed after dropping me off to pick something up, while she parked and went to the DMV. I ended up walking home but I didnt think it would have been an issue since I did use the store. I feel like I see someone getting towed way too often at this place anyway, by advanced towing, the slimiest company in slimesville, no less. Personally, Im not really sure why I should continue giving this store my business when theres a Harris Teeter so close by thats at least less in my face with the predatory towing practices.
Very clean well maintained and cleanliness great Customer service
Customer service was excellent, Tatyana provides. great service as well as the front end
So when u buy 🎈 s...u Gotta have them inflated, n the self chk out person YELLING across the store 😑... Giant is far from the juggernaut of its hey day
Wife parked at the Giant. Before going in to get Groceries she ran next door for an errand. Gone for no more than 15 minutes and her car was towed. That $135 we were going to spend at giant went to the towing company.Honestly not even that mad about the towing, as sign was posted. But the fact that Giant has a connection with one of the most predatory towing businesses in the area is enough for them never to get my Money again.Be aware if you park there someone is literally watching you waiting to tow your car.
They make money not only by selling groceries, but also by TOWING your vehicle. Dont go to this Giant, or any other. Go to Safeway, Harris Teeter and others.
Fresh produce, quick checkout with helpful staff, large selection for its size
Great place, lots to choose from, friendly staff!
I love this giants. New to the area and its always convenient. In and Out
Ive been to many Giant stores but this one is my favorite, been going here for the past 15 years, it is very clean the staff are friendly. Fresh products all across and their prices are right. I have 0 complaints I highly recommend the French bread backed fresh and the seafood has a special section always on sell Frozen of course. I will continue to here for sure.
Parking is way to strict. I like to do multiple errands in this area, but I wont be shopping here again as I dont want to risk getting towed.
Clean, well stocked.
Impressive selection of better national brands, imported items, and popular local products. Something about the store always seems rundown though. Maybe its the high-traffic location. The aisles are nice and wide.
Great self-checkout!
One of the best grocery stores in northern Virginia. Friendly, helpful staff.
Nice 👍💪💯 area 😊❤️💯 to shop for fresh items Worthy to Buy and Acquire. Blessedly Blessed 😇🙏❣️. Mag 😁❣️👌🔥👍 Tonya Grady
I love this Giant Store! They were the first to install plexiglass, wipes and fully implement Covid preventive measures. I feel really safe here. Employee turnover is low. The employees recognize and greet me. The selection is great, especially for seafood, ice cream, juice, tea, kosher goods, etc. They have the best supermarket bakery with the best tasting tiramisu cakes and Boston cream cakes. Elaf, Ben and the rest of team are awesome. This is the only place where the stock clerks actually help you. Returns and exchanges are stress free and quick. The staff is helpful, knowledgeable, kind and excellent.
(Edited to add: Using the Giant card works well (putting in your phone number ....not at *all*) I tossed my card long ago, but got a new one just for this purpose. Just register it at customer service for the scanner.) Please get the scan-it system working consistently! Its such a great way to shop during the pandemic -- I can use my own bags, have minimal personal contact, and be in and out in no time. But Ive tried on three trips and only successfully used it once (after spending 10 mins putting my phone number into the balky touch screen). Ive talked to the management and they know its an issue. This store has improved SO much -- the parking lot is repaved, everything is better stocked. But the pandemic has introduced new concerns. Id really like to be able to rely on the convenience of scanning as I shop, to keep the trip quick and less risky.
Their intentions are good, they did have some one-way + 6 markings on the floor. All faces covered in masks. But the staff breezes by, shoulder to shoulder! And there are no signs saying there are limits to how many Lysol, wipes etc... shelves are empty. Were all a work in progress!
Clean store. Items easy to find. Friendly staff at self checkout.
I ordered some groceries via instacartWorst experience ever. I received text message that my order was left at my door. No, it wasntThe instacart website doesnt have a phone number. I called Giant, the manager did not know what to do and did not want to do anything. In a while a knock at my door. A family of 3, including a child delivered my order. Turns out they went to the wrong building. I wonder why?NEVER again using this service! Very bad!.
Always great customer service. Merylyn is the best. Also Echo and Tayler are always friendly and helpful.
Clean and well stocked
Great place to shop
They have remodeled, and slowly but surely it is coming together and getting better. By pandemic end, it should be a quality supermarket once again.
Good place
One way routes for customers inside. Not so many peoples inside. Polite and quick cashiers. Affordable prices. Like it.
Pre-pandemic, this was my grocery store of choice. However, despite their efforts to promote social distancing they just don’t maintain a safe environment. There isn’t enough sanitizing happening (carts, credit card readers) and I’ve seen several employees with their masks pulled down.
Well stocked supermarket. Im impressed with the varieties on offer!
Becareful during cold snowy weatger as parking lot tends to have a lot of black ice and no salt or sand.
Its an older Giant and smaller but otherwise ok.
Great location, friendly staff, clean floors, and fully stocked shelves
Cousin prices are reasonable in a people that work there are very nice and kind when you ask for help
Great Giant for the neighborhood, but this one is a little small. Ive been able to find everything I need aside from the odd niche product, and thats really the only thing keeping the Giant in Virginia Square from the full 5 stars. Definitely happy doing my grocery shopping here!
Smaller supermarket with basic selections but its not as diverse as other larger stores. Prices are somewhat high and are more in line with a larger convenience store. Later at night theyve been closing the full service check-out lane and only the self-service lanes have been open.
Very nice grocery
They got food. Incredible. Giant really brings grocery stores back to their roots.
See previous post of my review of Giant grocery store chains.
Pretty compact, but lots of variety and a nice variety of ongoing sales. Storefront was organized and clean. Friendly staff, nice florals.
Nice selection of fishes, bread, milk products etc. Customer friendly shop-assistant😀👍although today I had awkward experience on my way to exit, my kid accidentally picked free newspaper from the stand and we were already about to get in a car,( since the newspaper was from free stand), there was man who works in Giant(he had sign) in his 50s run out literally taking newspaper from my hands. I got a little a shocked, so decided to double check if the newspaper is paid, for which he yelled in his way to the store:No!!Definitely not enjoyable experience.😞
Small store with everything i need . Plenty of parking and a great staff.
Very small but has what i need. I prefer to shop here when Im in Arlington cuz its intimate and clean n well stocked. Able to run in and find stuff n check out quickly. Like to visit library then run here for a fresh lunch (good sandwiches.)
Everything was so easy to find. Im not from the area. Customer service was excellent. No complaints
The fresh fruits and vegetables are great tasting. The store is clean and well organized
My favorite grocery store for nearly 40 years. Super convenient to Virginia square metro. Good selection of name brands. Reasonable prices.
Good store, well stocked, very friendly associates.
Good place to get groceries. Been there a few times and liked it
Very lovely and clean store I enjoy the salad bar fresh .
Nice grocery better prices to compete with near by trader joes and whole foods
Well stocked.
Found some stuff, not sure which of three? Giants I visited this review request is asking for, needs more detail when prompting. Last one of the day had peanut oil for turkey frying, (turns out 3 gallons) and near clearance racks but no prices, so took to self checkout with Valentines day candies, was voiding it as too much, register asked ~$37, I said I would do $20 and they did... I could have gone less as most are 50% off, but long walk. Have seen generic oils for $11, elseWhere and may try those for comparison. Will see, a lot of oil to have laying around, once opened may go rancid. Making list of things to use with it: whole chicken 🐔, 10lb turkey 🦃, fritters (apple and corn 🌽), pancakes, sweet potato 🥔 fries, baking but deep frying additives of silicone? Odd. Will see in a little while what others. Earlier Giant in 15 mile first walk of the day was bakery and yogurts clearance, so will see, as add photos as sorting out which store is which of trip/loop errands +5 more miles after a bit at home... 20219615 UpDate oil was S.Jefferson not this, yogurt, bakery likely. Fin PeaNut on Aldi soy etc
Great service
Good produce section and service. Their house brand for organic, natures promise,is good and great value. This is closest to the original giant location.
Really good healthy foods out there, everything you want in there, what a nice price.
The best prices in Arlington for food. I like Harris Teeter better for steak. But everything else especially produce, giant!!!!!!
I had a pleasant encounter with Manny and produce… He was able to help me get the items that I needed. He was really knowledgeable
Whatever you need, you could find there
- Meats and poultry are not good most often they are not even fresh.** This is a new update of my last post:- My second very bad experience here was that I bought a rose flower pot and 4 days later my flower died without blooming. I took it back to store for refund or exchange. Customer service didnt accept to do either. I had multiple bad experiences in this location.
Great place. Not the best. Keeps most of the stuff I need on a weekly basis. Took a little while to get used to the layout. They have a good selection of produce, cheese, beers, wines and meats (aka the things I need the most). Couldnt find stuff for pest control though. Maybe I missed it. It gets crowded at times and the parking area needs a good do over.
Well, its its a convenient grocery store that is open most hours. But many times the fruit is already bad or not at all fresh and not worth buying even when its on sale - disappointing. The staff is really nice though.
Some of the best frozen food offered. Also wide range of both latin and kosher. Good offers and lots of savings!
The service is awful. I waited 10 min for help on the self check out section. when I asked again for help. A cashier told me that she didnt have any idea about who was in charge of that section. It wasnt the first time that I left the store disappointed by the service.
I went get garlic powder and they didnt have any...
Best Qaulity best prices!!
Small store with a great pharmacy staff. Helpful managers, but checkers often seem disinterested and sleep walking. Limited frozen food section. No covered parking.
Well organized and clean. Theres plenty of self checkouts so theres rarely a line. The parking lot can get full after work though.
Decent sized store so they typically have most things you will need. Produce section better than most similar sized stores so they carry things like papaya and aloe. Parking is a bit of a pain but generally space available.
Awesome grocery store. Able to find what I need.
This is really the only grocery store in the area so theres not many other places I can go to shop. The parking lot is riddled with potholes. The store is decently stocked but lacks some of the variety of even some of the most basic food stores that Im used to in other parts of the country. A fresh/hot food counter would be nice but they mostly just have rotisserie chicken out front. Most of the people working the store just look at you sideways and are rarely helpful. Seems most of them would rather be somewhere else. I would too but theres nowhere else to go.
They are the best... My favorite store....
For some reason this location is consistently running out of plastic bags. Its happened the last 3 out of 5 times Ive been there. (I suppose its incentive to remember to bring a canvas bag or two.) They also have limited staff working the registers. Last time I visited, there was only one checkout line open, which seemed to take forever. Self-checkout was available, but the layout of the store is such that people are constantly cutting in line, albeit inadvertently.
The staff here are very helpful and friendly. The only thing thats annoying is they tend to run out of the popular products if youre there on the wrong day of the week. However, when we were looking for a specific type of sausage three different people were all helping try to figure out if they had any of it anywhere and when they couldnt find it they made many suggestions. Definitely the best customer service Ive seen in a supermarket!
Smaller Giant than some, but well stocked. Its also the best run Giant in Arlington. Great staff and a fairly fast deli counter which means a LOT to me.
Good but sometimes hard to find stuff and weekends can be really crowded. Holiday stuff is in one location but then scattered throughout the store so just know if that’s what you are looking for.Downgraded for rude staff that came on the intercom to announce they were closing in 10 minutes when I walked in at 11:49 and to go to check out now. Did self checkout while staff was complaining to each other and was outside the store at 11:56 so before closing but perhaps hours for entry should be changed if going in too close to the time of closing requires a store wide announcement. Quite rude. Also had blocked aisles with empty boxes.
This giant is really convenient to get to from Arlington, but has insufficient parking and self checkout lanes. It gets extremely busy during the afternoon rush hour and on weekends. Prices are also at a bit of a premium compared to some other larger supermarkets.
Clean store, nice prices, super friendly cashiers.
I finally stopped going here. The veggies always seemed just past fresh and there seemed to be a smell of slightly rotting meat and veggies in the air. On the other hand, I could usually find what I needed and it is in a decent location.
It is my pharmacey and my grocery store. i amhappy with them.
I like this place, good selection, good service and the sales provide a good value most time.
The steamed spiceed shrimp are very good.
The cashier was waiting for me as she had no one in line. Check out was far easier & more pleasant than my using the self check out
This Giant is just your average supermarket. Theres nothing particularly unique or special about it... They tend to have good sales, but unfortunately its not that close to the Metro, so when I go, I usually just take the bus (the 38B). Stop here if you just need to pick up a few things.
Good
