My pictures are in different seasons- Both sides evaluated…. Sunny Pics- If you love tons of people around, loud music and a busy beach, great place to go and a lot to do May through Sept. do you like the quiet atmosphere with a great walk and great views? Come in Late Sept to March. I would suggest parking in Ocean Grove (next town) and walk around town first to look at the houses, then walk their boardwalk to Ashbury Park. Nice place to take pictures, get your steps, take in the nice sea air. I recommend going both season!
Love this beach and boardwalk! This is the best beach/boardwalk in Jersey because it is the most progressive, open, loving, and colorful place. All other beaches are white and trumpy and all you see is American or confederate flags. Not here! Its all love and the art here is amazing too. Many great businesses to support here as well!
Always packed with people and food prices are crazy high everywhere you go.Youre not allowed to walk dogs on the boardwalk and youre not even allowed to toss a football back and forth on the beach???? Nonsense. This boardwalk is best during the night time when theres less people around. Lots of bars to choose from and a nice breezy walk across the waterfront.
The artsy nature of Asbury Park offers much for the eye. The place is not over-crowded and so much fills the eye as you look around through the height of summer vacation. One of the better tourist areas on the Jersey shore, even if they still charge money to use the beach. The fun is seeking out the various murals throughout the boardwalk area. Will visit here again!
I was really looking forward to visiting this boardwalk and much to my surprise it did not impress as I walked the boardwalk all I kept smelling was a strong smell of urine. Not a long strip of shops like other boardwalks and very pricey not at all impressed. I did get to visit the stone pony which was kool but even that didnt offer many options in sizes and styles of t-shirts and Hoosier. For sale
What a beautiful structure with some beautiful stores inside. Great walk through and on the boardwalk. Its a must to visit!
I like this place. It is really relaxing 😌 so many buildings needs maintenance 👨🔧 thank you 🙏
One of my most favorite places in the world...full of childhood memories
Clean, quite and easy to get to. Was able to find parking easily and the food was so good!
Place was clean. Atmosphere was refreshing and friendly. Spacing was being practiced. Weather was perfect for walking the beach and boardwalk.
Very small low key boardwalk with great food options. I like how it doesn’t get super crowded especially on weekdays. Note, this is not a family orientated or kid friendly boardwalk per say. I would suggest Point Pleasant instead for that. But I love coming here as a 20 something.
Beautiful! Plenty of space to share with some of the restaurants opening.
Very nice to walk around. Beach looked great. However, many visitors ignored the mask rules. About 25% did not wear masks within 6 ft of others. But parking was ample and cheap.
Boardwalk is great, but the city needs to get busy with improvements, convention center is falling down, beautiful carousel should be restored, and start opening some of those shuttered storefronts!
Such an amazing place to unwind. Will go back again during summer for picnic and beach volleyball!
I had to go to Asbury Park boardwalk to recreate the famous sopranos “dream scene!” It was really cool to see Tillie at the wonder bar. I love the nostalgia of Asbury park boardwalk. In the theater building they have stores for shopping. There are a bunch of restaurants and a cool arcade called silver ball. It was cool seeing the Stone pony where Bruce Springsteen started.
Clean beach which makes it an awesome weekend destination and some awesome food restaurants on the boardwalk. Parking is with the app and parking meter.
I really love the way Asbury Park has transformed the beach and boardwalk. For this time of year exceptionally clean beach and boardwalk. The food options are awesome, but if you drive inland another 3 minutes, youll see some great restaurants and pubs. Use the parking app to save yourself time and money (they potentially refund you whatever unused parking time left on the app).
Amazing boardwalk. The rules are a little to strict in my opinion. No smoking, no drinking, very restrictive beach. But thats also prolly why its so nice... 4 stars
A super beautiful day with a breeze off the water. Lots of place to sit to soak up the sun & smell the salty air. A comfortable amount of people eating & enjoying the beautiful weather. Days creamy in Ocean Grove was fantastic. I had a Belgium waffle with 2 scopes of nondairy ice cream (cherry amaretto) made with coconut milk. I will be back.
A peaceful boardwalk with no rides which keeps a lot of little crying children away.. 😆 there are some nice places to eat with ocean views. Great boardwalk for the older crowd
We had a great day here at the end of August celebrating my wifes birthday. Our local friend set us up with beach passes, chairs and umbrellas right between the ocean and the Boardwalk. It was not overly crowded and groups were respectful of each other and socially distanced. Masks were not worn on the beach, but many wore masks on the Boardwalk. The area was clean and had a couple restaurants open for outside dining. I would definitely return and would recommend a trip here.
Love it here. Beautiful, diverse, and not over-crowded. You have to purchase a pass (suggested to do this the day before) to go on the beach but the pass is good from 9am-8pm. The artwork/murals on the boardwalk were beautiful. Definately visiting again.
My favorite walk in all of New Jersey. Asbury Park is a special place, and the boardwalk is perfect.
Great art, great shops and restaurants.
Partially stuck in time. Feels like a bit of a time warp. The girlfriend came when it was mostly a theme park. It would be cool if some of that was brought back. We had a great time.
So clean and so much to do! Great for families, dates, or just a nice walk by yourself. My favorite was the pinball museum, but I definitely want to experience all of the shops and restaurants along the boardwalk.
Such a beautiful place. Saw a pod of whales off the coast. We were here when it was really cold and windy. Seems like a happening spot on the summer. Restaurants looked like they open after 5pm.
It was a packed but was able to distance. . .fun to walk on the boardwalk 😉😊
So cool to see the old buildings and the amazing work done so many years ago.
The dog friendly area is really nice, we had a great time!
It was most of our 1st time there and Im glad we went. The drive was only 2 hours so we just went for the day. My hubby was there in early 90s and he had said itwas really rundown when he was there. I loved the historic feel and Im sure in its day it was very beautiful. We had lunch at the Iron Whale which was phenomenal. Definitely glad we went and we will go back.
Its a nice and well maintained boardwalk near the beach. Its a nice place to walk through on good weather. It probably gets really crowded during peak season.
Had a wonderful time at the beach the walk on the boardwalk was excellent and a little mini-golf to pass the time it was a great time
Lots of options for food & drink. Spacious, well-kept boardwalk. Multiple public restrooms of decent quality. Lots of photo ops :)
Beautiful Beach just cost for entry (approx. $10+ per person😳) but clean and diverse range of respectful people! Would definitely visit again 😊😊😊
Asbury Park Boardwalk is a very clean, eclectic, wide boardwalk about a mile long lined with shops and restaurants next to the Jersey shore. It has retained some of the previous architecture along with new buildings that work well with the environment. The beach requires purchasing a pass to enter. It is recommend that you purchase your beach passes online (you can scan the qrcode in my photos or visit VIPLY Passes) the night prior to visiting the beach after 6:30pm to ensure you receive a pass. You will most likely not be able to purchase passes upon arrival as this beach is limited in allowed visitors. Overall Asbury Park and the Boardwalk were a nice day getaway to enjoy good food in a very nice environment.
Great place to walk around and grab bite to eat. If you love to people watch this place will not fail you !
This was our first time at Asbury Park. Its $7 per person and children are free. We parked and hung out left of the boardwalk where it was less crowded and quiet. The beach is clean. They have real restrooms that are clean and decent. I didnt feel like it was overcrowded and disguising. After putting our things away and walking up the boardwalk, we noticed that it was very condensed on the beach in front of the boardwalk. I didnt get the chance to check out the beach area here, but Id imagine its nice due to the fact that its so crowded there. There are some cute shops inside of the boardwalk. We stayed awhile looking through everything. Also located on the boardwalk are restaurants, an ice cream shop, and small boutiques. Forget your beach supplies? They have it all located in the boardwalk including towels, hats, toys, and food.Overall, it was worth $7 fee and I would come back.
Ive never had a bad experience here. The restaurants are great, the people are friendly for the most part and the cops wont bother you unless acting a fool.
So BEAUTIFUL...since 1978 it was run down, now its like a new beach, clean and thrilling will excitement
One of the best New Jersey beach …
Great beach and boardwalk! Very clean and well maintained. Many restaurants and foodie carts to go to.Lots of side street metered parking and there are restrooms. Usually packed during weekends of summer. And there are concerts and films shoots here from time to time.
Attended the annual Zombie Walk here. So many people in costumes and creative zombie ideas, truly something interesting to be a part of and see in person!
Love the beach. Lots lots to see and enjoy. Try it.
Asbury Park Beach is one of my favorite places to go to for some down time. I love the art you see along the boardwalk, the shops, they had a concert at one of the venues so always check out local events and the food!! 🤤🤤🤤 fried oreos, fusion tacos and plenty of restaurants to check out - I just discovered they have LINK scooters to ride around town and they were sooo much fun!! I nearly fell- thank god I caught myself!! Wear flats ladies!! It can save your life!
It was a beautiful Sunday afternoon we had a fun time walking and taking in all the sights!
Asbury Park boardwalk and beach front area is really coming back strong. All existing buildings are getting a complete face lift and repurposing. Much new high end and attractive construction is going on. Asbury park boardwalk has many nice restaurants and night spots now. Very safe to go out in evening and walk on the beach and boardwalk as well as the towns fully restored and gentrified downtown. Many beautiful stores, restaurants, boutiques. Great evening night life. Really a complete resurrection of the town and jumping back to being a high end enjoyable destination.
It was beautiful. Very clean and lots of places to eat. However, there were lots of bugs on the beach. Wish I had put bug spray. Otherwise, it was a perfect summer day.
Love this place. On the beach, cute shops, art, and music you can hear from the boardwalk at night.
Great place to visit and live if you have the opportunity to, Lots to do, plenty of places to Eat & a Great Atmosphere
Its alot better then it was ten years ago. Keep it up it gets nicer each year .
Not that big of a boardwalk but the ocean was great. Just enough stores open and lots of restaurants. Unfortunately we only had hot dogs and ice.
1. Good boardwalk2. multiple options to eat3. now a days there are ride outside the boardwalk, but seems temporary.4. if these rides are not there then there is nothing to keep your kids engaged.5. overall good place to spend family time6. watch out for parking fees and beach fees
We were there early before the shops were open. Nice unexpected walk on a chilly, sunny day.
Love the Asbury park boardwalk! Parking can be a little difficult at times during the summer. I don’t mind walking so I usually park a few blocks away and walk. I love the bonfires at night (check the schedule). You can hear the outdoor concerts from the boardwalk too.
Asbury Park is the summer destination for both kids and adult if you dont mind the traffic and can find parking. The boardwalk is unique and has character with some interesting sections! I visited on July 4th, 2019 and it costs $9 per person to gain access to the beach. There are ample restrooms and benches throughout the boardwalk. The firework from Asbury Park is spectacular!
Not bad. For out of state tourists such as meParking wasnt too hard to find. Make sure you have exact change for how long you need to stay because machines wont give change. They accept CC.Food prices are high but its expected in a seasonal area.
Classic boardwalk. Can get crowded even off season. The better restaurants are in town, IMO.
“not very popular... quite...calm... less crowded...”This beach is not quite popular like point pleasant but less crowd is itself a bliss, isnt it?The boardwalk is clean and calm. 2-3 pubs are quite popular here and I can see these pubs are crowded even on a weekday. Both ends of boardwalk have old building and architecture of building is quite amazing. Beach is too not crowded muchOne can have relaxed day at the beach without disturbanceWorth a visit.
Great place to go to the beach, eat great food and watch live music.
Nice clean boardwalk.
Been in the area for over 15 years and seen lots of progress...still more to go. Good variety of restaurants but still many undeveloped stores even before pandemic. Crowd is very diverse and well behaved.
The beach was very nice, clean and well patrolled. The Boardwalk however left me disappointed. A few scattered food places but thats it. I expected more.
Lovely broadwalk.
Love the beach and boardwalk. Clean. People are respectful. Lots of good food choices, albeit expensive. But that is the norm now I guess. I remember a very different Asbury back in the 90s.good times then and now.
I GO THERE EVERY DAY FOR EXCERCISE, I WALK THE BEACH, EVERYTHING WAS GREAT UNTIL THEY TOOK DOWN THE FREE WIFI, BUT I BOUGHT A MOBILE WIFI SO IM GOOD.
Was a fun place to walk around and was able to listen to a concert at the Stone Pony for free
ONE OF THE BEST BEACH ON THE ATLANTIC. I PURCHASED SEVERAL HOMES, BUSINESS, CONDOMENEUM AND BOARD WALH BAR THERE.
Our first time to the shore/beach since the pandemic hit. It was a pleasant experience! The folks on the beach were socially distanced on groups. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves on the beach and in the water. The Boardwalk was busy. Many people werent wearing masks, but about half were. There were a couple restaurants open with outside dining. It was clean and orderly. I would go again.
Come with open eyes and experience music, art, food and vibe! #legend
What a beautiful place! Asbury Park has a great boardwalk and beach! Very clean beach and specific areas to swim. The boardwalk is a nice switch up from the best if you want to explore. I love the system of having wristbands for the beach area. Parking is very convenient and easily located
One of the best beach town. Full of shops, restaurants, and beaches of course. There are free parking on the inner streets (4-5 blocks away from the boardwalk) but you need to get there early and have a some patience.
It was super crowded, as people are eager to get out after weeks of COVID19 quarantine, but it was a respectful crowd.
If you’re looking for something fun and free check out all the Art! The boardwalk itself is top notch and the police men are very nice and helpful.
Made the trek for a day trip to Asbury Park on a Friday. Very pleasantly surprised. Its been years since I had been there. Found parking easily. Only $5 each for the beach passes. Beach was nice and clean. After lifeguards left we went and walked the boards. Boardwalk looks new. I think they had to rebuild because of Sandy. Nice to see the town is trying to preserve the historic buildings on the boardwalk. Lots of nice shops and restaurants. Got delicious Italian Ice. Took in the outside concert from the Stone Pony. Watched some street performers. Checked out the beautiful murals that are painted on the buildings. Joined a group that was playing beach volleyball. Overall nice and welcoming vibe from Asbury Park. Very different from back in the day. We will definitely go back.
Went for the Christmas festival bazaar. If you are looking for a Christmas gift come take a look. Many vendors selling everything from handmade candies, one of a kind ornaments and the list goes on. Its free so go take a stroll and check out the vendors, stores, pubs, eateries and coffee cafes. Check out the website for days and times and vendors.
Nice, BUT! Don’t bring your bike here. No bikes after 10. No scooters ever
Beautiful beach not too far away it is about a Hour drive from where I live I prefer coming here then point Pleasant diffuser beautiful and it’s a calmer environment.
New Jersey is famous for its boardwalks. I dont think this is the best boardwalk in NJ, but it still has its quirks and benefits. While its beaches arent the best, its still pretty walkable and has some views of the ocean.
Lively and a nice crowd of people. Nice shops n restaurants
