Fantastic food and the service was exceptional. 1st time there and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Service was quick and friendly and I was surprised how fast the food got to us. Prices are reasonable, not the cheapest but fairly priced compared to other places. I ordered the Mushroom burger and it was huge and delicious. Well definitely go again
Its a nice place. At the time we went, it was not busy. The service was great and the food is good. I had the tri-tip sandwich. The wife had a Ruben and it was loaded with meat. Our friend ordered the cold turkey and it too was loaded with truckey. Our server, Zack, was attentive and polite. Next time we are in town, well stop by.
Average food at best. Chicken Fried Steak was frozen, pre made and pretty tasteless. Ordered cherry pie and it was huge, but again not much flavor and 99 percent filling, very few cherries and crust was not very good.
Waited for someone to take my to go order, waitress Amanda said she would be able to take my order in a minute, ten minutes go by, she again said she would be able to take my order in a minute, another 15 minutes go by and nobody would take my order, so I went to Cowgirls Cafe. Walked in and imediately was asked if I was eating there or if it was a to go order, I said it was a to go order, a waiter took my order, and I received my order in the next 10 minutes. The service and food were great 👍
Ordered the country fried steak, it was very good, the gravy was nice and creamy. My son had the waffle combo, his waffle was perfectly cooked, delicious, a lite crisp on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
Friendly staff throughout our experience. The food is consistently tasty. Typical diner fair. Pricing is reasonable. Cleanliness was on point. We enjoyed our meal.
Food was good, the carrot cake was absolutely delicious. Friendly service, not overly crowded but steady. Seemed popular with locals. Only issue I had was no one was wearing masks but since it isnt mandated in Atascadero very few wore masks any where.
This last time i came to the diner they made a small mistake and seated us after the kitchen was closed unknowingly. They were so incredibly sweet about it. They gave us a gift card and we came back the next day! For 30 dollars we got enough food for 2 meals! And it was great. (Please do yourself a favor and get onion rings and/or mozzarella sticks)
As someone who grew up in Atascadero I have been a loyal patron of this establishment for many years. These days I ride my Harley 50 miles to enjoy the wonderful service and incredible food. If youve had a better chicken fried steak Im willing to bet it was made for you by a loved one. I consider it a blessing that after everything which has transpired in the last year to still be able to visit and stuff my belly to my hearts content.
The customer service was nice but the food wasnt the best. We went because of the Maps score but after the food we could tell that it wasnt accurate.Waaay too greasy food, made not with the best supplies and slow service (I get that sometimes is hard because of the amount of people, but it place was hardly full). I cant complain about the quality of the service because everyone was really nice, but the food, unfortunately, was not.
We got there 15 minutes before closing and were welcome. Service was very attentive and food was great. Wish there was room for dessert.

The service has really diminished. The days of stacy,michelle,Stacy, monica, are all long gone. Older waitress greets me hello I reply hi Im here for a take out order, she replies oh be with you in a minute, then proceeds to talk to the customer who walked in behind me about his covid shot...10 min later youer lady asks if Ive been helped, she helps me while the other server continues her in depth discussion. Not what made me an atown customer
Love eating at A-Town Diner.... especially the BLT w/fries.... The food is always cooked as ordered and the staff is always friendly and professional. My grandkids love to go there when they visit because the pancakes are out of this world so I highly recommend anyone giving them a try when choosing a place with a good variety for the whole family

This place is amazing the whole greyhound is what i had everyone else had hamburgers and we are going back they have allot and great prices lowest i have seen anywhere and it was sooooo worth it. Im recomending to anyone its awesome.
Stumbled on this place by accident heading up to Paso. Got off the road to grab a quick bite and saw A-Town. It had a good rating on g-maps so we gave it a shot.The place has some cool history. Dug all the old photos on the wall. The staff was friendly and the food was definitely good. Would return for sure

Try the biscuits and gravy!! Its homemade for sure with just the right amount of huge chunks of sausage and black pepper throughout!! Corned beef hash was just ok... Pastrami and potatoes is what it should say ..... Chilliquilles was really a chorizo and egg scramble topped with a couple tortilla strips. But flavorful and huge portions
A-Town Diner (Virgils) has a large variety of diner food, and home cooked style meals. I am yet to have anything bad there. Most of their meals are above my expectations, and only a couple have been at a standard diner level (still really tasty and not bad at all). They offer a large menu, so give yourself some time to look it over.I have been there four to five dozen times over the years, and they never disappoint me. They are locally owned, and make amazing desserts as well. They have cobblers, fruit pies, cream pies, malts, shakes, and Im sure I am forgetting a few other desserts. One of my favorite dinners is their fried chicken, as well as one of their two different pastrami sandwiches. They also offer GLUTEN-FREE bread if needed ($1-$2 extra).The black and tan onion rings are pretty amazing, cheese sticks are pretty good, and theyre homemade pico de gallo salsa is pretty good, too.I sometimes wish they had later hours, but they are still amazing during the hours they are open from breakfast, lunch, and dinner.Be sure to call them ahead of time if you need to know their hours, because sometimes the hours posted on the Google businesses are incorrect.
2nd time me and my family tried this place. 1st time I got sick. Literly!!!! Had the chicken Parmesan which was the special That was last year in September. Yesterday I tried the philly cheesesteak sandwich. Terrible!!! No flavor what so ever, bland as hell!!! After 1 bite I returned it back and it was taken off the bill, waiter was very apoloagetic but nothing else was offered as a compensation. Went home hungry. My wife and son had salads. They were ok but not impressed. So far 2/2 on bad food!!!
Service was slow. We ordered an appetizer but they didnt bring it until they brought our dinner. I had a bacon cheeseburger and the bacon was a little raw and the burger was lacking flavor. My husband had the ribs-spicy (which they werent) and the flavor was off putting. Ordered strawberry shake from 1 server who didnt relay to our 2nd server. When we finally got her attention she was very nice but...it was the end of the meal. Dont think well be going back soon.

Im not a sandwich person, but we stopped and ate here passing through the area since it was recommended by family. I had the Phillycheesesteak sandwich with the au jus dipping sauce and sweet potato seasoned fries. This was by far the best Phillycheesesteak Ive ever had and Ive tried many. The only bad thing is that were passing through and wont get another chance to go there again any time soon.

Mixed feelings I hate to leave this review been here many times. Before Covid19 used to go once a month and met a friend for a bite and chat. Went back the first time since Covid, first time eating out since sat outside the tables were wiped down in front of us which was nice spoke with the owner who was very friendly. I noticed most of the employees were not wearing masks when we walked in along with my friend said the restrooms were very very dirty. When she came back to the table we decided we werent comfortable staying. We always had good food and nice people working there and clean but this time we didnt even get to order and the place wasnt clean I even noticed a musky smell or some kind of unclean smell when we walked in along with the place just didnt look as clean and employees were NOT wearing masks not even shields if they couldnt wear masks. I hate to leave this review because I had always liked eating here but not sure if I will go back now.
To be fair Ive only eaten here once. The service was excellent and fast. The food itself was just ok.

Food is so good The service was good until we had to pay we went up to the front counter and asked for bill and wanted desert the older lady was not so friendly and didnt check us out because she wanted are waitress to get the desserts and check us out we waited a good 8 minutes to be checked out so I was over it and only got my daughter her desert.

Great food and fast, friendly service. Its nice to go to locally owned business that really goes above and beyond in making sure that their customers are happy. The wait staff is very friendly and efficient. IMHO, they have the best burgers around, beating out, In & Out and The Habit by a mile. Actually, Im glad that this place is more locally known so its not inundated by tourists and you can generally get a seat for lunch right off while seeing other friends and neighbors from around town rather than a bunch of passer through people from the Bay area or the Valley.

I cant support this business anymore. Every single time my order is wrong or missing something and each time I go back I always give them the benefit of the doubt. No more.Theres also random people who dont appear to work there go behind the counter to grab coffee, cups, or whatever.The quality of food has been declining as well.None of the cooking staff are wearing masks and the serving staff keep there mask under their chin.The pandemic is hitting restaurants hard but come on...
A-Town Town Diner is exactly that a diner. It has everything you need to be a diner, and it serves it up well. I recommended for breakfast and lunch, and its popular for all three meals with everybody. I guess I just use diners for breakfast and lunch myself, but dont let my habit slow you down rumor has it the dinners are pretty nice as well. Anyway quality breakfast, quality lunch, were happy every time, and my son loves his place so I have to keep coming back and coming back. Its worth it

Great to be able to sit down. Great service. The only reason its not a 5 star is, while Virgs Original Pastrami tasted wonderful, maybe better than normal, the meat was pretty fatty and somewhat tough. Not the 1st time lately. Mesquite Chicken sandwich was very good as were the fries.
If youre trying to decide between Dennys and A-Town Diner, come to A-Town. The food is better and the service is WAY better. They take custom orders and have a variety on the menu. If your group has trouble deciding what to ear, just come here. They have something for everyone.There is some cool historic photos on the walls. I have found a favorite on the menu yet. But Ill keep trying. Chicken fingers and the waffle was pretty good. They should add it to the menu.

Lots of good food choices; breakfast, lunch and dinner, and breakfast is served anytime. Daily specials are available.I had a pastrami sandwich. It was loaded with plenty of meat, served with large cut fries. You can get a half sandwich if youre not that hungry, but its still lots of meat. The service was excellent, and the prices are reasonable. Theres plenty of free parking. Enjoy!

I always enjoyed going to this restaurant, the food was good and the staff were very friendly but seeing them open now against stay at home orders makes me angry. Our hospitals are almost full, our numbers go up daily, but you pass by this restaurant and the parking lot is always busy and people are eating inside, I doubt I will patronize his restaurant again.
Food was good, ranch was watered down. Gluten Free bun was OK but being toasted on the grill would make it a lot better. Nice place good service. Bathroom could use a little upgrade.
Great customer care. The food was delicious. The french fries were nice and crunchy And not greasy. That is always a big plus. We have the French dip and the flavor was outstanding. So I was you wasnt too salty it was perfect. The desert case is to die for. Loved loved loved their carrot cake. Definitely be going back for another piece of that soon. First time there. Even tho they were busy, we got our food fast and hot. The best pancake I ever had. The hot syrup kept it hot the whole time!
