I came in to buy premade sandwiches for my children for lunches. The store was clean and organized very well. Found what I was looking for very quickly. Unfortunately they only offered ham and chicken lunch meat sandwiches, and I did not want that. An employee on the floor asked me if we needed help and I told her what I was looking for, she said they did not have a Italian sub but give her a minute and she will be right back. She left for a minute and came back with a paper and pen and asked what we wanted on the subs! She made me five italian subs on the spot! Her name was Daphne and she was awesome! She made the subs fast and was so nice. Very helpful and because of her alone, I will keep shopping there. She went out of her way and added work on herself she didnt have to do to make a customer happy. She is the best employee there I have dealt with! Thank you Daphne, you really helped me when I was in a rush and needed food fast!

This place is ALWAYS crowded. Seriously, even when it should be dead youll take forever to get in their lines and out. Try opening more than three registers besides self checkout please. Otherwise its great, but that flaw is jarring and frequent enough to drop two whole stars.

Excelent shopping. Its like a whole diffrent world inside Kroger. So much good stuff to choose from both healthy and devilishly tempting. Great prices, clean and always a friendly smile from their workers. And this Kroger has a Starbucks in it!

Steve in the Kroger pickup has exemplified a great customer service employee. His courteousness and professional are top notch. He has assisted over the phone and also answered questions while loading our car. He is a large reason why we have highly recommended the kroger pickup to our entire family (whom now almost exclusively shops this way). Its closest grocery store to Publix I visited since I left Jacksonville FL that carries food products and finer varieties not available in WV area I lived before moving here. Cheeses, seafood, and spirits I had family ship or bring up themselves visiting. Courteous staff and Starbucks to boot..

Always busy! Good luck finding a parking spot. It is my first choice of places to do my grocery shopping, however, they do run out of sale items super fast & they dont do rainchecks.

I went to this store for ten years. They never fail to have the best food. The bakery and the frozen food department are my favorite. There were a couple of times I’ve encountered a genuine lunatic, but those are fairly rare.

Kroger is generally great, but lately they are often out of many items. Yesterday they didnt have Miracle Whip, Kroger kidney beans, Kroger pepperoni (They always run out.), White Bagged Onions, and several other items like 4pks of Campbells tomato soup (maybe single cans, too). They were out of many other items, too. I went to Walmart for Campbells soup and pepperoni where they were cheaper anyway! There were many wrong prices, too.Before Thanksgiving, I asked the meat department about oysters. He said theyd be in on the 17th. I called on Nov 17 & he said they didnt come in. I actually got a chance to stop in that day for something else and they had oysters! Kroger used to be more on top of things. Covid has been going on about a year now and should no longer be an excuse.

Much better than the only other Major grocery chain Walmart!! I called Walmart told me they had no Minnie mouse cakes Im sure they did and didnt look but I called Kroger they said yes and more than one so I went in to look they had a couple with decorations and a lot of photo cakes very cute ones I picked one and asked if they could add decorative pink polkadot bows like Minnies hair bows around the corners she said probably Im sure theyll put them on there had the entire thing ordered and paid for within 10 minutes. The store was clean the person that was running the self checkout had to print an extra receipt one goes back to the bakery he was very pleasant and nice knew exactly what and how to do that I love this Kroger plus you can get hard liquor such as whiskey, bourbon, vodka all in Kroger

I always find what I want and then some. The employees are very nice and respectful.

Lots of good products but it is a small town so items are limited to the likes of the locals. Always clean and fresh. Staff are very pleasant and knowledgeable. Often crowded at the most unusual times so check out can be tedious. Best grocery store in town.

Always great value and great selection especially fresh produce and health food products ( All Plant Diet Eaters). Plus fresh fish and Butchers Department. Also the finest selection of Beers, Wines & Liquor ( State Liquor Store) Certainly the Best Selection of Single Malt Whisky. Very friendly and helpful staff. Its great to be a to shop in a very pleasant environment and get bang for your Bucks......

There is an employee there by the name of Kailee that is an absolute gem. She knows everything you would need to know about carts and produce. I go to kroger just for her expertise. Delightful.

Bathrooms need bleach. Rotten produce. Deli salads had age on them. Deli slow. Completely busy. No parking. And only 2 cashiers! Plus plan on packing your own groceries.

The staff never wants to help you and are constantly preoccupied with something other than actual work. The shelves are inconsistently stocked and the produce is bad more often than not. Sadly in small town SE Ohio, we are almost forced to shop here. After visiting the store many times over the years I have now experienced the situation where there are no registers to check out at except 6 of the small self check out places. I asked several employees for help finding an item that their website said was in stock and nobody actually said they would help. They just said I don’t know and went along their own way leaving me confused on if anyone their knows anything about customer service.

This store use to have a large inventory of items that you never see anywhere else. in the last year, they have reduced their inventory and variety of products. They still offer more than other grocery stores, but only marginally so.

Great meat and fish section and doing a great job with Covid.

Higher end grocery shopping without the higher end prices. Great selection of all foods, wines, and beer. Enjoy trying new cheeses from there amazing array.

Decent prices and the best selection of products out of all the grocery stores in town.I grew up with Krogers and wish that they were in all states.The only thing that I wish they still had is the olive bar. I think that it is a mistake for them to remove it but its their decision to remove it. Hopefully they will bring it back some time soon.

Best selection in town! Love the cheese bar, the deli, the bakery, the meat and seafood department and an amazing variety of fruit and veggies! Outstanding organic selection and I love the cultural foods and local foods both offered in this store. The make up selection is the only part lacking. But they have star bucks so it makes up for the makeup! My number 1 favorite store in the county!

I was amazed and pleasantly surprised to find a really nice grocery store in Athens. It is well stocked with lots of fresh food, a Starbucks, small deli and bakery. Lots of health food items also. Clean inside, decent parking out. This is the nicest Krogers I have even SEEN!

The best meat department I know of. You name it they have it. Everyone at store is helpful and friendly. Check out time is fast. All round great store

The lady at the pharmacy was doing a bit much

They got rid of the door by the pharmacy, and they upgraded the software on the self checkouts, so now they take forever to process each scanned item on a good day, and you can count out the multiple seconds when its busy. They also consistently screw up my prescriptions so I have to wait longer than 30 days to refill.

I love the store and products. I especially love private selection and simple truth. #1 reason i shop Krogers because they UFCW! union strong. I diike the market trend with self check out. that 1 on 1 interaction is priceless

Policy says if two people walk up to the counter, and one forgets their ID, and they both leave the building, one can return and purchase said liquor. So the power-tripper behind the register getting a tingle from refusing to sell me a small bottle of rum twice needs a refresher course. This Kroger store has a great selection of all kinds of food. Really good Deli dept., large organic foods section and even a sushi bar if you are so inclined. Plus an excellent assortment of craft beers. Very friendly and helpful staff only adds to the shopping experience.

Best place to shop for great food deals. Always fresh all organic veggies and an awesome selection of other natural foods, gluten free, vegan and local foods.

Starbucks in the store. Better quality and selection of produce than anywhere else in Athens. There are a few things you cant get here and several higher priced items we purchase at Walmart instead. I prefer Kroger to the other options in Athens. This Kroger also has the gas station.

Great modern layout, full sized Kroger. I found everything I needed. Staff were exceptional! Well kept store and parking lot. Busy, but that is not a negative.

Kroger in Athens, Ohio is a great place to grocery shop. Their produce section is especially awesome.

Huge place. Good parking. The checkout guy was very helpful signing us up to the free Kroger card. Saved $4 on the spot. They even had fireworks.

I love So Delicious ice cream! One of the best non-dairy ice creams. It is made with cashew milk, coconut milk, or soy milk.

When you need some food or things this is a great place, they have it all baby.

They have any fruit or vegetable you need and some you have never heard of. I love picking a vegetable or fruit and googling a recipe for it. My favorite new try is Jack Fruit.

Used to be a great store but nothing has been the same since they started renovations. Items are often out-of-stock, employees are in bad moods, the store looks dirty, and theyve completely stopped selling several items I used to buy.

Meat department products need to be used right away, hamburger regularly turns grey the day after purchase. They do have a nice selection of specialty plant based products but relatively expensive and a tremendous beer selection. If you are expecting to go before 10am just plan on scanning your own groceries, their small town high prices must not afford them the budget for a cashier. Overall its a kroger with below average kroger customer service, they are one of the few options in town and they must know it .

Oh how I love thee. Let me count the ways.I have shopped in many Kroger stores in my life. Some tiny, some huge. This is the store that all other stores should be modeled after. The fresh foods are amazing: very fresh and plentiful. The size is perfect. Some of these stores get out of hand and it can take you much longer just because of the immense scale of the place. The atmosphere is perfect. Its somewhere between a Whole Foods, Trader Joes, Barnes & Nobles, and a Mom & Pops. The workers are professional but not plastic. Theyre real people and I dig that. The only thing that could improve about this store is the coffee shop. Starbucks is ubiquitous and better than some fast-food coffee chains but I would still rather see a local shop in there. Also a drive-up would be marvelous.All-in-all, I highly recommend this store. When I moved away from Athens I have caught myself comparing all other Kroger stores to this one and never have I found its equal.

Grocery stores can be hit and miss: even within the same chain. This Kroger is clearly above average. The produce section has a nice selection, the bakery offers a wide variety of breads, and the beer selection is very good.

Love the click list. The wait was a little longer than usual but Im still giving 5 stars.

This store takes pride in their gigantic produce section and local/organic foods isle. They also have a Murrays cheese counter to sample cheeses from around the world.

This Kroger has an amazing organic section. It took me awhile to learn where everything was, but once I did I can finish my shopping trips with relative ease. They have a large self-checkout section which is convenient for short trips. I never have to wait more than 1 or 2 minutes at checkout. They also have a large section of Murray-brand imported cheese. Fromager DAffinois is my favorite.

Truly Overwhelming.This is probably a five star Kroger for a millennial but for this old guy it was too much.I went to this Kroger because mine is so small but oh my, this Kroger had so very much it was hard to find anything and much of what they had was modern funk that I had no interest in. They even had a Sushi bar and island. I had done my shopping but still needed shredded cheese for a salad...in one part of the store they had a cheese island with tons of cheeses I never heard of nor would ever buy because they looked weird... I search and found another part of the store with more conventional cheeses but still no shredded cheese... I kept looking and found sliced cheeses by the lunchmeats (which is a whole nother story in different parts of the store)... finally I found shredded cheeses in yet another part of the store.I did not like how the store was divided with food on each end and non-food stuffs in the middle. I didnt like all the specialty stuff, it seemed they had an isle of speciality crackers and an isle of weird soup stuff, etc.Again, if youre a millennial and like tons of alternative food offerings and if you have the stamina and patience to hike the mileage of strange isles then this is probably a five star Kroger but for this guy it was way too overwhelming, especially when you had difficulty finding something (including help which I eventually found and they were spot on accurate, thank God it brought a conclusion to the endless hiking).Lastly, Kroger always has great deals and the savings using my Kroger Plus card were great. The store is well stocked with fresh everything and clean.

Great organic section, sushi is decent.

Cashiers need taught how to make customers feel welcome. Managers need to teach cashiers how to show respect to the customers when checking out. They are the ones who contribute to their paychecks.

There is a Good reason why Kroger sells more groceries than Walmart. They have better customer service and brand loyalty.

A few weeks ago I was surprised to see that the Krogers door near the self-service cash registers had disappeared - entirely bricked up. This is very disappointing to me because I found it very convenient to find a parking spot in front of the pharmacy, slip into the store through this entrance, avoiding much of the cart traffic at the main entrance. On busy days the area in between the cash registers and the service desk is very congested, a real bottleneck. This, plus losing precious parking spaces to customers waiting in their vehicles for curbside shopping services, makes Krogers less than convenient. Frankly, since the side entrance has been eliminated, I sometimes prefer to skip Krogers altogether. I just dont need this crowded hassle after a long day at work.

Very well laid out store. East State steet Athens is a mess but worth the trip if you are close by.

I LOVE this Krogers! They have so MANY selections and that new frozen food section SAVES my family time for dinner and makes it VERY easy. This Krogers is the BEST one I have been to. I would compare it to Publix like down south has! Can NOT say enough about THIS Krogers
