Highly recommended. Fair, honest, and good to their word. I run a diesel shop in Houston and broke down while visiting Austin. I was able to diagnose the problem myself, but did not have the tools with me to make the repair and needed to get back on the road asap. I did not tell the shop I knew what the problem was and just dropped off the truck with a check engine light complaint. The shop diagnosed the problem correctly, bid the job at a fair price and even worked with me on getting the truck back early so I could get out of town on time. The guys kept great communication during the repair and upheld every commitment they made to me. When I picked up my truck I also overheard a discussion they had with another customer about repair options on their car. I was very impressed to hear the exact same advise I would have given the lady that knew nothing about the car she had, and was very impressed to see he was giving good advise even though he was recommending to not spend any more money on her car.Very impressed all the way around and I will be using them again in the future.

I had a minor but huge safety issue with my car making it so the brake lights wouldnt turn off even if the keys were out. Turns out its a disc that fits on the brake pedal that broke. Went to Suns Automotive and they helped me fix it but the part was really hard to find. I ended up driving to Round Rock to get it. They were able to fix it same day even though they were extremely busy.

Got there at 3pm to get an oil change they close at 6pm but was told they were full...better luck next time Thanks.

I got a tune up on my 2010 vehicle.The price ended up being lower than what was quoted initially, which was great!The place as a whole has a nice atmosphere.They are nice people who dont mind me sitting and waiting inside for my vehicle, even if it takes a few hours.

Really great service at this place. I brought my old Ford into Foundation because it wasn’t running right. I replaced the carburetor myself and my shade tree mechanics weren’t up to par. The guys up front(Shannon and Daniel) we’re honest on their prices and had my truck running right in 24 hours. The hourly on labor is real fair there and they got it all done with the one hour of diagnostics they quoted me. The mechanic(Roddy) even came out and told me everything he did. A couple of vacuum leaks fixed right and a gasket I forgot to put on and it’s a everyday driver again. I will definitely be bringing it back for my rear end work I need to get done.Shade tree mechanic humbled. Thanks Foundation!

I came here for my wife’s car inspection and they got the car in and out in less than 30 minutes. They are really laid back and Shannon who helped me was super helpful! The waiting area has a very homey feel, with comfortable seating and nice AC. The music was really uplifting, and the vibe was just great!The car needed a bulb replaced and they did it at a very reasonable price (no extra $$$ for ‘labor’ as most auto shops would charge).I was so pleased at the service that I decided to return for my own car inspection the same day.I’d definitely recommend this repair shop for any of your car repair /maintenance needs. These guys are the BEST! My first visit they worked on some warning/engine light issues and basically fixed the cruise control problem at no charge! This time they had to rebuild my front differential and did some brake work and general inspection and repair and it was done quickly, thoroughly and at a very fair cost! Our truck died at the convenience store a few evenings ago - thankfully, next door to Foundation Auto Repair. Immediately, a Foundation employee came to assist. He first tried jumping the battery which did not work. Then he proceeded to crawl under the truck in the parking lot and inspect. He found the starter was bad, tried a few tricks for quick repair but no luck. The next morning, truck still immobile at the convenience store, Foundation took over. They got the truck into their shop, parts ordered and full repair on starter replacement and sent us home same day with a fully functioning truck. Foundation always does a great job at a fair price. I have taken multiple cars there for many years. They demonstrate a high level of integrity and I never worry about whether I’m having something done that is unnecessary. In January I went to have my car repaired told Shannon I had taken it to Pep Boy and was told the gas tank needed to be replaced. He quoted me $1700. I went back to Pep Boy who said $1400. I called, he matched but on pickup charged me $1500. 2 months later still smelling oil, took it to Mini dealer and low and behold I am being told the housing is where the leak was...call and recorded Shannon saying they did what I told them to do...seeing I am not a machine not sure how that makes sense. They had my car all day, with oil leaking all over, took my money and not fixed the problem...No single woman should go here...pretending to be Godly, yeah right!! RIP off. People should not be fooled by the FAKE reviews...….stay away!!!!! I dont know where the lying is coming from, BUT STAY AWAY...U WILL GET RIPPED OFF!!!!

This is my go to mechanic, in Austin! When my car started to overheat, I took it in immediately. They found a faulty fan and, since I was already there, I had them look at my rear wheel bearings, because I heard a noise.The cost of each was entirely reasonable and they had me out, within the day.

I am always weary of getting taken advantage of when my car needs service - but Foundation took care of my problem and did not give me the runaround or suggest I needed to spend a ridiculous amount of money on anything I didnt need. Its nice to know there is somewhere in my neighborhood that I can trust to take my vehicle when I have any issues.

They performed fuel injection service and driveshaft spline lubrication. The engine is so smooth now my F150 drives like new.

We have been extremely happy with the work that Dan and his crew have performed for us since they opened up their first shop in northwest Austin.We have had experiences with automotive chains where we would bring a car in for some work, even something simple like an oil change, and within a day of getting the car back, a new problem would pop up like the battery is drained. I get that this happens, but I find it troubling when the receipt says BATTERY: GOOD. Worse is when I talk to the chain shop, they say that it is against the policy of the company to check batteries. What?? Then why is it printed on the receipt??I get we are all human and mistakes happen -- thats part of life. How you respond to those mistakes makes a HUGE difference to me. I can probably count on one hand with fingers left over where the outcome of Foundations work had unexpected results. How have they responded? Usually if it is clear that there is a risk of problems popping up while performing the work, they say it up front. I can think of one case where they removed a part and accidentally damaged another nearby part in the process -- they owned up to it and replaced it for FREE without me finding out about it while driving on the road. This happened **once** in at least 10 years of taking our cars to Foundation -- I think that is a fantastic track record. More importantly -- how they responded to the error shows me that the trust Ive put in Dan and his crew for the safety and well-being of my family is well earned. If you are looking for a new mechanic, I strongly recommend and endorse Foundation Auto Repair!

My car is a 2011 Toyota Camry Hybrid, it had 130,000 miles on it. A friend told me Foundation technicians were straight shooters and did quality work. I made an appointment took the car in and had several maintenance requirements to do. Foundation told me all the work, back brakes, fuel system, transmission system, tune up and systems recalibration would cost $779. It took the afternoon and two hours of the next morning, but everything was done and the total cost was $781. I will taking my car to Foundation in the future and I thanked my friend!

You can often learn more about the true colors of a business when things dont go exactly right than when they do. Long story short, I have used Foundation Auto Repair several times over the last few years for large jobs and small. Every time has been a good experience. Today however, I got bent out of shape when I thought there was an error in quoting the job that was going to cost me a couple hundred dollars more than I could have paid. Regardless of whose fault it was (probably mine), Shannon handled it like a pro and made it right with me. I value a business that values their customers, and I will continue to use FAR and recommend them.

What can I say, they do great work and they charge me reasonable prices for it. I always do price checks on parts and Foundation charges me the same amount as it would cost me to buy them myself. No up charge, ever. As long as Im in Austin, theyre who I recommend you take your car to.

But they would check all the fluids and tires: the things they do normally when they do oil changes. they refused my offer to pay. Ive been going to foundation for years. this is why.

A few weeks ago I took my car into a Honda dealership for some warranty work and of course they said I needed a bunch of filters replaced, as well as my A/C system recharged and my brake fluid replaced.My general rule of thumb is to always decline and then consult my cars service manual and just follow the recommend maintenance schedule.It recommended the brake fluid flush every 3 years, and Honda had quoted me $200, so I called Foundation Auto who came in nearly 30% cheaper.Due to the pandemic, Foundation came and picked up my car from my apartment complex, and then took my payment over the phone and dropped it off. The turn around time was just over 24 hours.

Ive been taking my 04 Toyota Sequoia and 05 BMW to Foundation for years and they are always fair and truthful about needed repairs and solution options. Ive never once had to return for something that needed to be re-done or anything they missed. They have my highest recommendation!
