Visited Austin Kayak to get some ideas on what type of Kayak I should look at purchasing. Met Zack who also used to live in Murfreesboro, TN and he was a huge help. While they did not have a selection of kayaks for sale Zack still took the time to explain the differences between kayaks. I may not have purchased a kayak yet, but with the knowledge they shared with me I am better prepared to find something that will fit my needs.
You will be waiting!!!!! I placed an order for a kayak on 8/6. The order was shipped on 8/10 from a warehouse 300 miles from my house. I still have not received my order. I should have driven the 5 hours and picked it up myself. I was given 8/27 as a delivery date and now it has been moved out to 9/7, who knows if that date will hold. I know there have been labor shortages, supply chain issues, etc. The delivery company cannot tell me any reasons other than “that is when it is scheduled”. It is very frustrating. I understand it technically isn’t ACK but they are their delivery company and it is a reflection on them. I won’t order from them again if I have to wait over a month for my items.
I’ve ordered from Austin online in the past and it was a good experience. Just shopped in store and the customer service was just as good. Their pricing is right inline and their in-house selection not bad. Hope to see bigger locations in the future.
Called main store 800# that distributes and the rep spent a lot of time on phone with me about crossbars, which they were out of, so I would be buying elsewhere. This saved me money because a local store quote for crossbars was high. Ended up ordering Malone Airflow2 for $170 online from another vendor. Went to local store and was able to buy everything else for first time kayak owners, with helpful staff who showed us how to load and tie down the kayak. We had just purchased another kayak, but they wouldnt even show us how to strap it down. Returned it and bought the kayak from ACK. It was the kayak we really wanted, and due to supply chain issues, had been unavailable. Knowledgeable staff willing to help.
I was searching for a kayaking PFD (Astral YTV) but all the vendors didnt have any in stock in my size because of the pandemic and disruption in the supply chain. Austin Canoe and Kayak showed they had a couple in stock when I was looking to purchase it online. I called the customer service number and verified they were in stock and even had a discount so I ordered it. It was sent out right away and I received it very quickly (ordered mid-week and had it to go kayaking that weekend). Very happy with the product and services was great! I would definitely buy from Austin Canoe and Kayak without hesitation in the future.
Pre-ordered a kayak from them. It is supposed to ship today. Instead I get a call that they waited to long to process the payment, are unable to process the transaction, and I would have to use another form of payment or start the wait over again. They dont even have the same one available online. So I would have to change colors, and go back into the queue and hope that this doesnt happen again. All the while I had also ordered a paddle that was supposed to be in stock. I made the online order, and then get a notice that it too had a 29 day back order. After 3 weeks, the estimated shipping date gets bashed back another month. They say they are unable to help in any way shape or form. My first attempt to do business with them was for a $2k order, and they completely failed. That doesnt count outfitting it. That will add up to another $3k. This was my first and last experience as a customer there. I am sure someone else will be happy to sell me a kayak, and keep a business relationship as I outfit it. Dont waste your time with this company.
UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES SHOULD ANYONE DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!!!! I ordered a paddleboard in March with them hoping to keep my money local. The expected ship date kept being pushed back from May to August. I would call and they assured me it would be on the next truck. I contacted the manufacturer directly and learned that the board was never going to ship. The manufacturer informed me that ACK had an account status where no orders would be shipping. They were feeding me fraudulent info on my order.So update. Aaron worked diligently to find me a replacement order. He was successful in reconciliation in this case. They redeemed some of my faith.
I ordered a kayak in FEBRUARY for my sons birthday in May, the original estimated ship date was early April. I went in to inquire and they told me the boats were in but that there was a problem with the seats. That hobie sent a load of boats with no seats. My sons birthday came and went. (I rented a house on the river his birthday weekend planning to surprise him with it, didnt recieve it.) I went in again in June and was told it would ship June 15th to the warehouse in Kentucky then to them. I waited another month, went in to inquire again a few days ago (July) and they said their system still showed it to ship June 15th but that they hadnt recieved anything. This is a $5k kayak that is already paid for, summer is winding down, and I still cant even get a solid answer on where or when the kayak will be in. No one seems to be accountable for anything at this store.
We were on the search for good quality sit on top kayaks that we could easily take our dog kayaking with us. We ended up loving everything about the Wilderness Tarpon 105. Austin kayak had one in stock at the time so we ordered it and decided to order the second one which was on back order until mid October. We received our first one quickly and flawlessly. The delivery went smooth. The kayak arrived in perfect shape by a very friendly delivery company. About a month sooner than expected our back ordered kayak shipped. It also arrived quickly and flawlessly. Same wonderful experience with the delivery company. We love our new kayaks and Austin Kayak was wonderful to do business with. We will definitely recommend them to our friends and family and we will be returning customers for our future kayaking needs. Thank you!
Ive been doing business with ACK for a few years now. Dedicated expert staff that truly love the water. Been to several of their Demo Day events. Have rented fishing kayaks from them a few times.This year I decided it was time for a new rig. Did some research and stopped into the shop on Burnet on Sunday afternoon, May 24. Spoke with Brett and he checked his system. Two kayaks were already on the way from the manufacturer but he explained that shipping during Covid was unpredictable at best. He expected hed receive them mid June. Friday May 29, Brett personally called me and told me the shipment was in. He told me hed hold the boat for me until I could make it to his shop.Monday, June 1, I pick up my new ride and take it straight to the water. It was even in my first choice color. Brett explained it was last years model and gave me the manufacturers online price, which was $100 off this years price. Talk about stoked. Love my new rig. Thanks, Brett! And thanks ACK for the dedication to your (water) craft!
I feel sorry for the people that work here. I ordered a kayak from them. I even called ahead of time to make sure that they had it in stock after reading all of the bad reviews. The guy told me that he could not call to check it because they work in Austin and the warehouse is in Kentucky (that makes no sense) but that he was showing that they did have one in stock in their system and that I should order it so I would not miss out. I did order it. A few days later my order was showing as Held. They did not inform me or cancel my order. They have this thing on their phone hold that says they will call you back but they dont. I finally got a hold of them. No, they did not have it. I asked them to cancel my order. Very dissappointing experience, they should do a better job keeping track of their inventory.
Went to buy my hubby a Hobie PA 12. They had one left in stock. But it was missing the drive and seat. They are expecting the missing parts in a few days and offered to let its use parts one of the other Hobie models until the parts for ours come in. We decided to leave it with them until everything for it has arrived. They were happy to keep it there for us and very helpful and accommodating. Definitely recommend if youre looking to buy a new kayak.
Ordered a pro angler that they had in stock. 5 days after placing the order (on a sunday) I received the the drive and accessories. 6 days later and I recieved the yak. There were a few scratches on the H rail and upon contacting them recieved a 75 gift card. My local hobie dealer told me it would be June (maybe) to recieve the same yak. Maybe I just got lucky with this purchase, but based on my experience I would order from them again without hesitation.
Ive been a frequent visitor to the ACK Burnet location for the past few months (Early 2017), trying to figure out what I wanted to purchase.If youre wanting to rent a kayak, swing by a week or two ahead of time to make sure you get the one you want. Popular models tend to be reserved early when the weather is nice. Everyone I talked to was helpful and friendly, and although the interior of the shop is in need of an update (another register, fixed carpet) it reminds me a lot of rental shops in Hawaii or other coastal vacation towns.I want to add in particular how awesome it has been to get help from Liz, Evan, Stephanie, and Bryce over the last few months as Ive been renting and getting information to determine which kayak I wanted. When a particular part was stuck in manufacturing and shipping limbo the week prior to a multi-day camping float, folks were very accommodating and got me all set up the day before I was to be on the river. I couldnt be happier with the entire experience, and thats thanks to their advice and assistance.

Its April. Tourney date is 18th and stripers been here 2 weeks. I ordered NRS life jacket black friday or November last year. 2 conformation phone calls its being shipped out. No nothing and they are sold out again. What a joke of a company

If you guys are trying to buy a kayak from this company double check triple check if they have it. If they say that there are only 3 kites in stock in the website that means that they don’t have any and are just trying to hook you up and then tell you that the kayak is back ordered. I purchased a kayak from them at the end of January which they were supposed to have. After placing the order I received an email that the kayak wasn’t available and that it was back ordered. I called the next day and they told me that it was a mistake and that the kayak was available and should be shipped the next day. After waiting for 2 weeks the kayak arrived and that’s when I found out that they sent me the wrong kayak and sold the one that was available when I called. This kayak was meant to be a birthday present for my husband and the worst part is that they didn’t try to help me out in any way, terrible customer service. Supposedly they don’t have any hobbie tandem kayak in the entire store, not even a used one. Now I have to ship this kayak back and wait 14 more days to get my money back.
I feel like this company is not getting completely fair feedback or perhaps some people are not truly aware of the delays this crazy virus has caused. At any rate I wanted to say thank you for always responding when I asked for follow up on my order. I placed an order for a kayak on 6/29. Lots of research went into this purchase so I was fully aware that there is a nationwide shortage on kayaks because of production issues. My expectations were within reason given those circumstances.I was not charged for the kayak until it was in stock and available to ship so no issue there. The only ding I will give them is the last person I verbally spoke with on the phone was not particularly pleasant but he did get my order taken care of. I would imagine that dealing with these types of scenarios day in and day out takes its toll. Would order again. Thank you!
Ordered my kayak, received updates on shipping saying it would ship via UPS and I would receive it in 3-5 days. Cool, I only live 7 hours north of Austin. Its been 2 weeks and I still dont have it. And it did not ship UPS and have not been able to reach a rep from the third party shipping company after hours of being on hold.
ACK strung me along for 24 days that they absolutely had the bike rack I ordered and would ship it soon. The web site saying it would be a 5-10 day delay may be partially true, but they didn’t admit until way too late not having one and not knowing when they will.
Hi, I wanted to provide some positive feedback as I think its super important to support smaller businesses esp during these crazy times. I ordered 2 Astral PFDs which were very hard to find due to the pandemic. It took 4 weeks to get them because they are in the process of moving their warehouses to a new one in Kentucky and my order hit just when this was starting. The delay worked for me as I was also waiting for an inflatable kayak to arrive too. I cant imagine how hard it is to run a business during these crazy times. Whenever I called customer support they were easy to reach and polite. I even had to change a credit card due to it being compromised. The last week they were in contact with the new warehouse to get my shipments out. I will do business with them again. A huge shout out to their customer service team!!!
I normally have great service and accurate information. However, I ordered a Kayak on Feb 22, was told it shipped on Feb 29 with delivery on March 14. On March 3, I was notified the revised shipment date was March 21, essentially a month later. If I had known it would have taken a month, I would have selected a local alternative. Im not going to accept the shipment and ask for a refund. I believe customers should have accurate information and not be misled by Austin Kayak.
We recently placed an order for a Hobie Outback 2020. At the time we placed the order it was in stock. Payment came out of our bank account that day. My husband checked his emails for updates on when the item would ship daily, never received any updates or shipping info. It was a week of waiting, then we noticed the money was back in our account. Apparently we were not receiving the kayak period, or any of the accessories we ordered as well. No email or contact was ever made to us to make us aware of this. We just prepaid for one with a different company and will be picking it up locally in a few days. Communication is a key factor in a good business transaction, which this company lacks. We will from here on out give our money to companies that understand this.
They handled a board with material issues well.Seamless return after a clearly defective, highly priced sup didn’t perform.Their process during COVID was seamless for me. Warranty, returns, buying, and picking up all went smoothly.
Placed order 3 weeks ago as a birthday present. Two weeks later the status of the order had not changed. Contacted them several times and was told item would ship the next week with two day shipping. Another week passed with no change. Emailed and received no response. Called up and was told it would be at least another 1-2 weeks before they would know if the item was even in stock to ship. Canceled order and will not be doing business with them again. Had bought products from them in the past, but this was very poor customer service. I get that shipping has slowed for many things but I have not had issues this bad with any other company.
If I could have put zero stars it would have been better than they deserve. Customer service sucks. They lose your order and then won’t even talk to you about it. Constant lies ! Had to hunt the product down and drive over 100 miles to get it. Do not order from them
Similar to a lot of experiences as of late it appears. After many weeks since ordering a handful of parts (one of which has kept my boat out of service for over a month)I’ve contacted customer service a total of 5 time. Twice of which I was promised all the parts were in their warehouse and the order would ship by the end of that day. The last time I was informed that the order would be overnight shipped and would receive a confirmation within a few hours. Still no confirmation or delivery has appeared.I understand there have been logistical challenges lately with vendors. To contrast this with a different vendor based in California they have notified me and kept me appraised of fulfillment delays every step of the way, without me having to contact them. I don’t appreciate getting the run around and getting lied to. It’s bordering on scam territory at this point.When you’re mail ordering parts you have a lot of choices to go for. I chose ACK because they are local to Texas and have a professional looking operation but I don’t believe I will be giving any further business to ACK and would not recommend to anyone. I’d recommended you look elsewhere for a vendor that does business in an honest and professional manner.
When we needed lights for our kayak these folks have everything you need to get set up. Great products in stock and best of all great advise. When I encountered a problem with my install they where quick to help fix and solve the issue. We totally recommend them for your kayak and canoe resource and parts.Enjoy life and get out there!
I purchased a Bote Rover on 9/4/20 and after almost a month I still have not received the MSOs(titles) for the boat or the motor. I call and get a run around and no one calls me back. People that Ive talked to and dont care for your business are Bryce, Eric, Brain, and Mic Or Nick. still waiting on Shawn Gregory that was supposed to have called me back Friday 9/25/20 and he never did. but oh they are quick to take your money and promised you parts that you never get. BEWARE..
Wouldn’t ship the in stock items. Wouldn’t let me cancel the out of stock items so I could get the in stock ones. At one point it showed all my items were in stock and then the next day some of those went back to out of stock. Waited for over a month to get at least something I ordered but still got nothing. Called and was told they would ship what they had available. Waited another 2 weeks and when I called back they said they wouldn’t be able to ship anything. Ended up canceling the entire order. I guess 2k worth of items isn’t enough to make sure they keep a customer. Would not recommend this place.
Wish I would have read these reviews before I dropped 1k on a kayak that probably wont show until September. Ordered with an estimated ship date of July 1 and still have not received any updated information on the kayak. My money was pulled the day of no problem, yet cannot get anyone to answer the phone. Used the chat and they have no idea when it will ship. They can spam my email with promotions but not email me back on an order status.
I was close to ordering replacement seats for my two canoes, but first needed some information about the dimensions. I tried using the chat feature of Austin Canoes website, but no one replied. I then sent an email, which also wasnt replied to, but Ive been getting spam from them ever since.
Kayak broke on 4th trip out. I promptly contacted them and they said not to bring it back as they wanted the manufacturer to warranty it. A month and a half later it is still broken. Should have bought from Amazon. I bought here thinking the service would be good but it’s not. I’m taking the kayak back to get my money back and purchase elsewhere. I do not recommend this place.
Ordered 2 Ocean Kayaks online, and told via website and on the phone that they would arrive mid June. Guess what? Didnt happen. When we called to follow up in Mid June, they said, oops, MAYBE July 22. Constantly changing story every time we have followed up. Their salespeople are misleading. Extremely frustrated, and will never give them our business. Look elsewhere!
Havent been in to the store but ordered a kayak online and it was going to be a little longer than expected but they called us to see what we wanted to do instead of leaving us in the dark. Totally appreciate the communication. Will wait patiently for the product, very excited.
This is by far the worst customer service I have ever received from any company. Let’s start from the beginning. I ordered a kayak on June 20 with the suspected ship date of July 1. They send me a email on July 2nd saying my order was gonna be late. You obviously know by then whether or not you have the Kayak in. Then I call about 20 times with no answer. I chatted with a person online and at this point they have no clue when it will be in. Probably would be good information to pass out promptly. Also if you don’t know when a Kayak will be in don’t have a date next to it. Just put out of stock so someone could order from another company. Business 101!!! I will report this business to the bbb for a few different things. Get your stuff together or get out of customer service. Garbage company and I would not recommend for anyone to buy!

Terrible information and a hassle. I ordered a Kayak based off of the in-stock date listed on the website. After my order was placed and CC was charged, a few days later I happened to notice the In-stock date was now a month later than what was told to me on the phone and online when I ordered. When I called, it was everyone elses fault and was told they Just updated the date When asked when I could expect my order, I was told approximately 6 weeks. There was no reason not to communicate this to the customer, instead I was supposed to just accept the information on the online store isnt accurate and be ok with you all holding 2.5k of my money with no product and no communication? When I called I was told, Well you can cancel your order if you want. No problem! Im happy to spend my money at the local dealer who was MUCH more helpful. I should have went local to begin with. I heard Austin was great, but cant see it.
Poor customer service. I talked with someone yesterday (5/23) and told them what I wanted and they said they had it and would have it ready today (5/24). I show up a couple min before 3pm and the guy actually chuckled and said he hoped I wasn’t going to show up because it was at the warehouse which closes at 3pm. Then he explained that someone purchased the same one so if I wanted it I would have to come up early on Tuesday and I could possibly get it....I’ll more than likely wait for another store to get what I want and try to avoid this one.
Twice now Ive ordered from them because their website said an item was in stock. Turns out it wasnt and I find out 3 days later. Not exactly a great ordering experience. Plenty of other places that sell the same products and actually manage their inventory properly and ship in a timely fashion.
BLUF: Customer service was sub-par, which appears to be the case among other recent reviews. Not sure whats going on at ACK, but their leadership needs to get it together and make things right.My experience was ordering a Hobie sprocket and two new masts for my drive. The sprocket was in-stock and supposed to arrive by 6/4. The masts were on back order and set to arrive by 6/22. On 6/1 I contacted the customer service using the form because I found local parts and asked for the order to be cancelled. I followed up again on 6/4 after no response and a delay with the sprocket to see if the order could be cancelled again. I received a response from Laura on 6/5 saying the order already shipped. I asked AGAIN if I could return the order and that I didnt think the back ordered fins would be included. Tim responded on 6/6 saying the order shipped in full on 6/4 and provided the tracking number. I received the package today (6/10) with only the sprocket. The box isnt even large enough to fit the mirage drive masts.
Order Thule canyon xt cargo basket extension and was told the item was back ordered. When the item was order, the website stated they have only 4 left. After the order was place I was told the item will ship in two weeks. Called customer service after the two weeks of no notification about the item. Customer service said that the other customer paid in full so the item went to them. Which I did pay in full. I also email customer service, Caden response back 3 days later. After I reply to the email I never heard back. Cancel order and order from amazon. I try to buy and support local but they have HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICES. Will never order anything from that store or website.
I am about to buy my third Hobe Kayak. They are not cheap. All in in the last one was about $3400. The first one I bought locally in the Florida Keys. IT was great. Second one I went for price and Austin Kayak won, but the Kayak came damaged and they did not stand by their product. This one I will go back to my original store in Key Largo.
Horrible - never left a bad review on anything. Order said it was in stock but took a month to get here with no email explaining delay. Ordered 20 of line, got 10 line. Not worth the time and effort of even returning it.
Ordered a Yakima Rack and Roll trailer and tongue extension kit on June 26th... called on July 3rd for status and received amazing support! We agreed to a game plan! Very pleased. Called today on July 8th to check in on the game plan... not much progress(none) has been made; but again we agreed to a game plan and they were very responsive to work things out ! Four stars for now. Ill keep everyone posted on Friday of this week if I have confirmation of my order(s) on a truck!An update here... I cancelled my order with ACK

Not a company you want to buy a Kayak from trust me, no customer service after they sell you a Kayak. And the Riot 12 is not a good Kayak. Trying to fix the cables after 4 trips on Rudder system. I have tried getting to get thru to get some help but I think they have me blocked. Also the seat has split after 4 trips.Should have bought local.

I purchased a kayak online Sunday and it said there was one kayak in the color I chose. I received an email today saying I would be refunded that it wasn’t in stock.
Stellar customer service. Had some issues due to a manufacturer changing a boat design (Pescador by Perception: boat went from a great boat to a floating picnic table). Austin Kayak went to great lengths to make sure I was happy. From my conversations with them I know that 1: these guys paddle and know their stuff and 2: they want you to find the right boat so you can get out on the water and have some fun.
Bought a kayak from ACK. Got it home and it had a crack in the hull. Took it back and Brent personally went over to the warehouse on a Sunday and helped me find a great deal on another kayak. They were not the best at returning calls during the process, but their expertise and willingness to help once I was onsite were obvious. I think they were just very busy, since it was second day after reopening because of Corona situation.

I was disappointed, and I am now upset. Enought so to write my first ever Google Review.I placed an order for the Backwater Paddles Assassin Carbon Fiber Hybrid Paddle 250-260 cm Jun 14, 2020, with the understanding that the item was back-ordered with an estimated ship date of Monday, June 29th. Obviously this date has come and gone. Dissapointing, yes, but I understand that these are challenging times and the effect that the pandemic has on supply chains everywhere.The reason I am upset is that while waiting for the backorder to ship, I receive a Marketing promotional email from Austin Canoe & Kayak saying the product I missed out on is back in stock. So I fill out a contact form to ensure my paddle would ship. Over a week goes by and no response, no paddle.So, I go to call customer support. I wait on hold for about 20 minutes until I am prompted to leave a message, but immediately after the call ends. I call back, press 2 to be added to the que, and finally spoke with someone. The paddle is still on backorder. They received some in and I didnt make the cut for the shipment. Thats fine, but COMMUNICATE THAT TO THE CUSTOMER! Especially a first time customer.The news upset me, considering I am leaving for a kayaking trip tomorrow and have NO paddle! I canceled my order and filled out their contact form on their site, which also did not go through. I received an Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender notification.
Dont go to this place un less you call them first if you get there and if they see you they dont ask you if you need help I guess they are afraid of covid 19 but they still open their cutting I just wonder why do they open if they dont help
Terrible customer service. Received an empty box from them with no product in it yet we were charged for the items. Havent been able to talk to anyone despite emails and several attempts to phone them.
Ordered 2 kayaks and accessories, and was given shipping info and tracking number for a 3rd party shipping co Id never heard of. Tracking number showed waiting for delivery to be scheduled for over a week before I started calling them, but never got through to anyone. Contacted austin kayak a few days later, who made contact with the shipping company, and said Id hear from them. I never did. Ack made contact with them an arranged for them to hold the order, since I still couldnt get anyone on the phone. The next day, I receive word that part of my order was out of stock (but I thought it shipped?) Lost service, and never heard back. Got an email that my order was cancelled, but not what part, or all, and no refund receipt. Got home a week later, and called ack to cancel the order. They said that they would charge me a $250 restocking fee on items that they had failed to have successfully delivered to me, or I could wait a few more days, while they finally got them delivered. I took the kayaks, which showed up missing 2 anchor trolley systems and a paddle. Dont order here. Once they have your money, theyre done helping.
Order a kayak on Sunday, May 26. Website said order now and it ships Monday. On Tuesday, after no tracking info, called and was told it would ship on Thursday. Friday, we go through same song and dance, so I ask for the order to be cancelled. I get a cancellation notice email on June 1 and was told the credit card would be credited the amount in a couple of days. Today, June 26, I get a call from ACK telling me the order is ready to ship if I still want it. WTF??? I told them it was cancelled several weeks ago. Just received another email cancellation notice. Still no refund. Unfortunately, it appears Ill need to call my credit card to dispute the charge in order to actually receive a refund. Terrible customer service!!!

These Guys are the BEST! Lowest Prices and Fastest Shipping anywhere! Their customer service is amazing as well. I will always look to see if that carry what I need before going to another company. I couldnt imagine these guys getting anything but positive reviews and you should be skeptical of these reviews too! I love this company!
If they do not know when they will receive new inventory they should not allow it to be back ordered. It is that simple.May 7th, I ordered a Feelfree kayak. It was due in stock around June 8th. With everything impacted by COVID I understood and I was okay with that. 3 or 4 days later the in stock date change to June 19th. Certainly a bummer, but not a huge deal. Another couple days goes by and the date changes to May 28th. Cool! Thats good news!! And here we are on May 23rd and the in-stock date is July 20th.Basically they do not know when they will get a delivery, but they are still taking our money. And none of these delays was ever communicated with me. I had to check the site on my own!Even with the ever changing in-stock dates, they are still taking orders for this kayak!!! Seriously?!?
Today i tried to order a kayak from them but im very new to the buying online thing especially for that amount,so i had alot of questions. I was ready to order with my credit card in hand and everything but the guy who help me seem to be really erritated by the fact that i was asking questions and told me to call him back when i was ready to order.... im very disapointed at their costumer service.
Great Rental ExperienceI came to Austin for a convention and my dad met me there. We rented some Hobie Anglers to use at the town lake for the day. I had to rent a truck but once I got there, the guys at Austin Kayak gave me everything I needed to get the Kayaks to the lake safe and sound. They provided the straps, instruction on usage, life jackets and an extra paddle. They even provided a hitch accessory to extend the bed on the truck to accommodate the yaks. They were very nice and made the whole process very easy. 5 stars
Havent been around brick and mortar shops in awhile but with the difficulty of finding things in stock online I decided to call the Austin location. Service over the phone was excellent. They didnt have what I wanted at the Austin location but they went out of their way to find it for me and get it transferred to the store. Drove down and made my purchase without issues and made some pleasant small talk. Overall good experience and I am glad to support local business.
I had a very good experience buying a second quality kayak from them (minor cosmetic blemish). Worked with me on substituting for a different seat, send me all the relevant paperwork so I could register the warranty. Good notification on shipping and my experience with Estes was great. Good tracking and accurate scheduling. No damage to the kayak I received (delivered to SC USA). Funny thing. The kayak I bought was manufactured about 10 miles from my house but this is where I found it and got a good price.EDIT- When I assembled my kayak seat I found a manufacturing defect. ACK was very good at replacing my seat without requiring return of the defect first; they simply sent me a label and I told them I would return the bad seat in the box from the new seat. EXCELLENT and fast customer service. I have zero hesitations about shopping with them again.
The appearance of the store is very basic, but that allows for very competitive pricing. The staff love their jobs and know the product. That make the shopping experience very nice. You can ask almost any question and they have been there and done that.
Ordered a battery in December if 19. Was not until a few days ago 2/18/20 they decided to let me know that was no longer in stock. Worst part is is a gentleman told me they could still get the battery, but then sent a email admitting he made a mistake. I give credit to admitting he was wrong. But after almost 2.5 months of waiting Austin Kayak felt no need to make it right. Won’t spend another penny with them. Sad part is I had spent over $4000.00 on kayak, motor, gear to outfit all my fishing needs. So sad. Had a good 6 year run.

Where to begin, these guys are awesome. I originally met them at the boat show in Austin .Ive been saving g for a Hobie Pro Angler for a while and decided to pull the trigger a few weeks ago .They made sure my kayak was all rigged up, I had all the right accessories, and told me a few good spots to take the kayak out to. Their customer service is great, the guys at the Austin location are incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. If you are in the market for a new kayak give ACK your business. You will not regret it.
Holy God what a nightmare of shipping problems!!! Ordered 2 kayaks about 8 weeks ago when the truck finally arrived after about 3 weeks only 1 shows up. Called the store and they say oh looks like we left on the shipping dock! No problem just go ahead and ship it. So they ship my other kayak when it gets to the hub in Atlanta they put a hold on it because these guys didnt pay theyre shipping bill! So after calling about 10 times I finally get someone on the phone they said they would clear it up. Nope took 2 weeks and several more phone calls for them to call and pay theyre shipping bill. Finally got it today! Whats ironic is when you call the answering service says thanks for calling home of award winning customer service! Exactly what award was that???

Took 3 weeks to get my kayak that was in stock, also ordered a paddle and they didnt even ship it. So now still waiting on my paddle.
I ordered a paddle, float bag and sponges. Their prices were better than what I found on Amazon and the shipping was fast. I called customer service once and they were super friendly and helpful.

Ack said there would be a two week delay on my paddle.Then they said they would drop ship so it would come directly from the manufacturer.When I contacted the manufacturer they said before they could assemble my paddle they needed to contact Ack because there was an issue with them! What?Ack has already charged me for my paddle but the manufacturer has an issue with them?
We went to ACK to ask for their help in reinstalling Thule racks that we bought from them several years ago. I traded cars and could not figure out how to put them back on. Brett and Tyler not only showed us how to do it, but they totally reinstalled our entire rack system! They were both so knowledgeable about the products we asked about and could not have been more friendly and courteous. We will be back!
Instead of ordering from Amazon, I ordered a kayak online to support local dealer, as their showroom was closed. Their website read (and still does) in stock ships in 5-7 days. After nearly a week they email me to say that kayak is back ordered from supplier, meaning that they never had it in stock locally in the first place. Frustrating that local dealers website is misleading. If they dont have a product in stock, then it shouldnt be advertised as such.
Ships in 1-2 weeks - No, it shipped FOUR MONTHS later, and arrived damaged and missing parts. So much for my summer on the water. Only reason they get a second star is because they offered store credit for the delay after being pestered for months (while constantly assuring me that it should ship next week.

I have ordered from them twice, a total of 3 Kayaks. The first order was shipped and I received no less than 6 texts and emails notifying me or the delivery window and that I would get a call 30 minutes prior to delivery. I needed to speak with the delivery company because the delivery location is a summer home and I wanted to shipment placed in a safe place. The delivery person never called and left the kayak in the driveway for someone to steal. I called 5 minutes later to ask the dispatch person to get them to turn around but they refused. Called ACK and got the obligatory apology and then they hung up on me. So I cancelled the second order, which caused ACK to jump and they offered to cover the shipping cost of the first Kayak if I would reconsider. So I went ahead, with assurance from ACK and the shipper that I would have a better experience. Once again, the exact same thing happend, no phone call and left in the driveway. Fortunately, I got ACK to accept full responsibility in writing before it was shipped this time because it will be 3 weeks before I can get there.So beware before you purchase that any help from ACK and their shipper ABLE, will be completely ignored.
I primarily get stuff shipped to me from Austin Kayak. They are great. I live in Dallas and get everything next day at no cost - better than Amazon Prime. The customer service is responsive and the prices are great.
Purchased a used Perception kayak from ACK San Marcos a couple years ago. The staff were friendly and patient as I was nervous about buying a kayak over the internet half a country a way. Found ACK on the Internet and could not believe the deals they have. Best price anywhere on two tandem Ocean Kayaks. Customer service was great and shipping was free. Both kayaks were wrapped and packaged well then delivered to my home in Philadelphia, PA in perfect condition.
Stopped in to the Austin store to pick up a new pair of nose plugs. ACK has a wide selection of kayaks --mostly fishing oriented models. Lots of paddles, fishing accessories, and soon roof racks, apparel, and camping gear as well.Staff was friendly and Seth even took the time to pull up American whitewater and give me beta on his favorite runs in the area.Will definitely be back!

The staff at ACK have been super helpful and are very knowledgeable in every aspect to the products they sell. I came in as a “newb” in the kayak fishing world and they helped me through the entire process as far as helping me choose a boat for what I needed it for, and also rigging it with essential items for a full day on the water. They respectively do not rent out kayaks for you to use so you can make up your mind, however they do put on a great event called demo days that allows you to try almost every boat they have in stock. I highly recommend you go to a demo day if you are looking into buying a higher end more expensive kayak. I wisely waited almost a full year to go before I made my purchase of my Hobie PA14. I had to give every other boat a chance and not just rely on internet fisherman and salesman. Regardless of whatever anyone in the reviews below experienced, I recommend ACK to anyone of any skill level.

We bought Nocqua Adventure Gear lights for our SUPs. My husband called several places locally in Florida and Nocqua, on Saturday, to try and get the lights to us by Wednesday at the latest, for our trip to the Keys. No one had them or he couldn’t get a hold of anyone. He finally called Austin Kayak Company to see if they had them, which they did. We ordered them directly through the gentleman we spoke to. He explained that they wouldn’t go out to Monday but they would ship them overnight. That evening another gentleman called to verify the shipping information and reiterated that they would be shipped overnight. I’m happy to say we received them today, Tuesday! Super excited to do a night run Thursday with the full moon,

Purchased enameled cookware from their site. The site had specifics about what was included and two pieces did not come. When I inquired I received an email back stating...that is all that is included. TWO THUMBS DOWN!
Ordering from this company has been one big letdown. I have not had an experience like this in a long time. The lack of care or attention is quite telling. Was told I would have my item this week instead I get a call saying they did not have enough to full fill the orders. I asked when they received the others that were sent out, they said two weeks ago. I asked why it took them two weeks to notify me I got a MEH response blaming someone else. I still do not have an ETA. I am disappointed to have to wait but this review is more about the lack of consideration ACK displays.
