I got the bacon egg and cheese biscuit its still more like a bun but it really works! They use shredded cheese..I wanted to go w American but its not available, but again..it all works and it was really good! The bacon jam is cold ..it has a good taste its like bacon bits w jam mixed in...if it was warm I would have liked it more, glad I ordered regular bacon instead of just bacon jam and got that stuff on the side. The eggs were fluffy so, I was impressed w that lol.

The establishment has ensured safety for all patrons! It’s a quite yet cozy little spot. Was walking by when the workers where putting out the sign so decided to stop on by. This is my first experience here at Slake. Such friendly and open environment!I ordered the :Lemon poppyseed muffinThis is so yummy!I will say because it’s such a big muffin that there are parts that are more dryer throughout as I’m eating this muffin. The texture is what you expect minus some dryer parts.Overall it’s was an amazing muffin and space that is why they got all 5s!!!

Weird and slow staff. Stood at the empty counter for over couple minutes before somebody came out. The lady let me talk about breakfast for a while before informing they stop serving it at 10:30. They gave me a bag of chips but no napkin to wipe my hands and then the server gave me a weird look and attitude when I asked for an extra napkin with my food. They’re not rude or anything, just could be friendlier.I tried the chicken sandwich. It was pretty good but very messy and falling apart. Fountain drinks are Maine Root, which is cool. The ginger soda is awesome. Not sure if I’ll ever bother making a point to come back and try the breakfast.

Excellent breakfast and top flight service. If youre staying in downtown Austin and looking for breakfast, you cant go wrong with Slake. Its counter service, but with an emphasis on SERVICE. The person at the counter was super friendly, answered our questions, and provided useful recommendations. The food was fresh, satisfying, and exactly what we were looking for. We had struggled to find a decent breakfast in Austin and wished we had found Slake earlier. Stumbled upon Slake since it was on the same block as our hotel. What a gem! Cozy breakfast spot in the middle of downtown. Easy walk from most hotels. Great coffee, and friendly staff. The fresh salsa for the tacos was also incredible. We were impressed to find out the establishment also supports a non profit that helps build wells in Africa for villages to have access to fresh water. We were able to buy some whole bean coffee that further supports those efforts!

Seemed like a fun space, pretty quiet in the morning. Breakfast menu is limited but seemed like a decent mix of options. Got the Ditry bird biscuit. Biscuit was obviously overcooked and very dry. The fried chicken meat was good but the breading was way overcooked and tasted burnt. The queso was a little too thick, the egg was cooked perfectly but the star was the bacon jam. The flavors are there but everything just got torched in the kitchen.

I didnt really like this place and only came here because it was close to my hotel. My hash was not dry or crispy, and the ham it was served with was more of a sandwich cold cut than a traditional breakfast ham. I couldnt taste any salt or pepper in the potatoes. Everything was overpriced. If youre in Austin to experience good food, I would go somewhere else.

Poor service, food was not prepared at time for pickup. Almost 15 minutes past the time they claimed it was ready on Ritual. And this, after the first time I visited they couldn’t even refund an item I had paid for that they ran out of stock of. Had to have Ritual customer service take care of it. This burger was the worst burger I’ve ever seen, wet; cold and completely thrown together. The chef has some explaining to do, I will not be returning. I don’t care if the food is free! I will not reward poor service with continued patronage.

Light cheese sauce with a little cheese sprinkled on top, so I didnt feel guilty after eatting it. If you want it CHEESY then you might be disappointed, however I liked it considering Im on vacation and I can spend a few more calories on dinner.Only subtracted a star due to the breakfast cut off time. First off, I was blown away with the customer service that I had from this place. I felt we were treated in their home, they were the host, we were the guest. D Extremely attentive to our needs and explained menu items with enthusiasm.Continue with this 5 star customer service. It truly was one of the best, if not the best experience I’ve ever had.The food and drinks were delicious. I’ve had several sandwiches here and I tend to want another due to the rich and tasteful food but I know my limits, lol. They are affordable. The only thing that to me personally wasn’t pleasant was the restrooms as uni-restrooms. There are two. One was extremely clean the other, I’m sure men use it more because of the urinal.I do not like places that do this because as women we need to sit and there tends to be urine on the floor and toilet. Therefore, it takes cleaning before one can use the restroom and two, it tends to smell of urine. I am saying this in general. For this particular location, one restroom smelled of urine however the second one across the hall was better.Hope this helps.

I sat down with a friend after leaving our hotel next door to start our day. I’m no meat eater so I ordered avocado toast she ordered a chicken breast sandwich. We stated to the waitress our dietary options. My avocado toast was brown which means my avocado wasn’t fresh. The tomatoes had a hair dangling off of it with an additional strand laying comfortably on the white plate next to my eggs! 🤢 My friend had bacon nestled beneath her bun on her sandwich after specifically stating we do not eat pork! So.. disgusted I left the food there fully paid for and tipped 18%. Never to return! Can’t understand not seeing hair on a bright white plate!

Slake Cafe is a nice cozy spot. They were very accommodating to our group of 11. I had the Texas Chop, which is the brisket. It was a drop of bbq sauce on my sandwich so if youre like me request more. There was a ton of fat on the meat which I struggle with various textures so I had to pick the sandwich apart to reassemble it to my liking. The Mac and Cheese was extremely delicious and cheesy. They brought out one of our sandwiches wayyy before all of our food was ready. Kind of odd because we all wanted to eat at the same time. Service was extremely slow especially for it being lunchtime. Our check even came slow. But the staff is super friendly. Im torn between giving the place 5 stars or 3 stars so I did 4.

*Update*Reducing stars after I realized how big of a scam the to-go orders are. You get half the food for the exact same price as dining in. They either need to get bigger to-go containers or reduce the cost. And Im not talking delivery orders... There is no reason that I should be charged for a full order and get a half when Im coming in to pick it up. Ridiculous.I only realized this after getting the same thing two days in a row and the second day they were so busy I had to get my food to-go since there was no seating available.____Quick and easy lunch. I told the server I wish I had been told beforehand that they were going to substitute greens bc it’s a different salad now and not that good. She said Ok and that she’s tell the staff. But didn’t do anything about it. Then I told another server and he said he’d figure something out, but he never returned to my table. Went here for lunch and got the brisket melt. It was way too much brisket and not enough melt. Most of my bites of the sandwich consisted of stringy brisket and bread, at that point might as well just go to a bbq restaurant for some better quality brisket. You could barely taste the cheese, mushrooms, and onions. Some barbecue sauce would also really help it.The cafe is just designed weirdly and i think they should just go full counter service. When you walk in its the first thing you see and the cafe/restaurant portion is kind of hidden. If there was a line at the counter i could totally see myself waiting in it for 10 minutes only to be told i needed to take a seat and wait for a waiter.I found the staff to be chaotic and confused. Everyone seemed to be floating around and not stationed anywhere in particular. I was served by like 3 different people which just made things confusing. I was unsure if i was supposed to receive a bill or pay at the counter as i waited for a while with an empty plate. Then i put on my coat to make it clear i was ready to leave and still never received a bill. I ended up busing my own table and paying at the counter which seemed to confuse the girl working there so i guess i was supposed to keep waiting... It does not take a full 45 minutes to eat a sandwich by oneself, to expect someone to wait even longer to get a bill is ridiculous.Idk, i know this is pretty negative but i had a lot of thoughts. It was a very awkward dining experience. I will say that i did like the ambiance of the restaurant but thats about it.

Today was my first visit to Slake Café with coworkers. I was looking forward to the visit in hopes of finding a go-to lunch spot close to work. Unfortunately, I was slightly disappointed.I had the Bahn Mi sandwich which was on the dry side (I recommend trying a salad instead, my coworkers seemed to like theirs). When I ordered the sandwich, our server asked if Id like to make it an Express Combo, which comes with a cup of soup (or chips) and a drink, so I said sure and asked if I could choose any of the drinks listed under Beverages, and she said yes. This wasnt the case - I ordered a Topo Chico and was charged an additional $2. One of my coworkers overheard her say yes to my question and had ordered a TX Tea. When we got our checks, my coworker asked why he was charged for his drink and our server said only Iced Tea or Fountain Drinks were included. One, a Topo Chico is cheaper than their Fountain Drinks, and two, if we ordered drinks that werent included, it would be nice to be told that on the front end, even though I explicitly asked beforehand. Although, to our servers defense, she may have been stretched thin with the lunch rush.Perhaps better coverage during the lunch rush is needed.
