This is a great restaurant at The Lumberjack in Johnson City. The brisket was sold out but: The Blue Burger with melted bleu cheese and grilled onions, with cucumber salad was wonderful. Probably the BEST burger I’ve had ever! And the homemade peach cobbler is to die for!

Holy chicken fried chicken!! That was the best CFC and mashed potatoes Ive had in a LONG time. The gravy is so damn good. Definitely check this place out if youre in the neighborhood.

Wow.....what can I say. I was in the area and needed some food so I decided to check this place out. I ordered the Plain Jane burger and was blown away. It was a simple burger but everything was great about it...meat was juicy, veggies were fresh and the fries were crispy.Check this place out 😎

Waited 30 min and still no waiter, no drinks. Kids were hungry and asking me for snacks. Tried to leave and the manager promised to expedite our order in the next 2min (appreciated, kids food came out soon after). However, my fried chicken had a significantly large vein that made half the piece bloody. Kids burgers were medium well after we asked for well done. The old fashioned was not that great. And the waiter that eventually served us was nonverbal the entire time. This was the weirdest and most frustrating dinner experience weve had. We live so close to this place, and its a shame we wont be visiting again. Such great potential with a great outdoor space, but the horrible service outweighs all of it. We shouldve just left when we originally decided to.

Great down to earth, casual and friendly atmosphere. Really good food at a fair price and a good selection of Texas whisky.

Simply amazing experience. They were slammed with customers and short on help, bit it was worth the wait. The staff was professional at all times and bent over backwards for all. The was so good. Cant list all we ordered but the Mac & Cheese was the best my wife and I have ever had, and we are Mac & Cheese lovers! Chicken-amazing. Roasted beets-amazing. Deviled-eggs, amazing.

I had the chicken fried chicken and it was absolutely delicious. Easy going comfortable atmosphere, shared a nice dinner with friends that didnt break the bank. I highly recommend.

This place was delicious - truly the best French fries I’ve ever had. We spent the morning in Pedernales & after hours of swimming & hiking in 100 degree weather, I felt like I was done for. Their food turned me all the way around. It was DELICIOUS home cooking, but not in a greasy way at all. I’ll be dreaming about that meal until I’m back again!

Awesome country / Texas food and unique building. I used to be a regular and five start rater, but now am at three star purely due to service issues. Sometimes it can take five to ten minutes just to get greeted -and thats if youre at the bar. Twice now Ive given up and ordered to-go from the host stand, once having a paid check in hand before being asked if I want a drink.

Always our perfect corner pub, even though its more than a pub. Killer fried chicken, great whiskey list, appys always good.

Ordered the Nashville hot chicken and was impressed by the way it looked, but The chicken only had a decent flavor, but was very very juicy and fell off the bone. It could have been alittle more spicy and less sweet though. The Mac and cheese was sub par at best. It needed some seasoning and flavor added as well. Overall it was decent food. The biscuit was about the same just a decent biscuit not much more to say. I can’t complain it was ok food not the best but definitely not the worst.

Great spot to sit on the patio and enjoy a great meal, a great view, and a cold drink. The food was phenomenal. Well be back for sure!

I would rate it zero stars if it was allowed. The negative review has nothing to do with the place itself. Its on a beautiful plot of land, incredible space and has more potential than anywhere in the area. The service was beyond horrific. I get the shortage but it felt like no one was running this place. Not once did someone come over to ask for a drink after sitting there for 30 minutes. I had to go to the bar (note: bar was not busy at all). I want this place to be great, but it was a serious let down unfortunately.

Fried mushrooms and Moscow Mules were both excellent. Fried chicken is touted as a house favorite, but the under cooked thigh was unimpressive, the single drumstick better. The single biscuit not great. Staff was nice!

Server was a 5, went out of her way for our family. But food was memorably not great- spoiled milk for our kids meal, limp fries, not fresh seafood. Mixed greens salad was good.Kind of looked upscale (like the area wineries) from the outside, but very comfortable inside. Stopped at the recommendation of another family. Glad we went, but not our first choice to go back to.

Proof and Coopers literally saved my entire wedding two hours before the wedding. We had planned a small New Year’s Eve wedding in my parents backyard nearby and New Years Eve 2020 turned out to be rainy (the sleeting) and freezing. I could never possibly say enough about the owners and staff at Proof and Coopers. My bridesmaids, mom, and maid of honor were calling everywhere nearby to see if they’d let us take pics and have a ceremony there at the very last minute. Not only did the owners of Proof and Coopers allow us to use their space upstairs to do indoors bridal party pictures, they also agreed to let us use the outdoor patio to turn into the most perfect ceremony site. Thank you guys so much. It literally brings me to tears just thinking about what y’all did for us, without even knowing us. I am forever forever thankful and I am a Proof & Coopers fan for life.

DEFINITELY NOT BAR FOOD!!!!Has an excellent feel and old style roadhouse appearance. Has great outdoor seating in back, play area for kids and is dog friendly.The food is excellent! The fried chicken is awesome southern style with light breading and amazing biscuit dressed in honey and literally the best BLT ever with lots of good non-fatty bacon and soft Texas toast.Then theres the whiskey... tons of top end whiskey and excellent old fashions.Highly recommend!

OMG! The blue cheese burger was so delicious. Usually blue cheese can be overpowering, but they put just the right amount to get full flavor without it being too much. The service was excellent as well and very friendly.

We ordered the whole fried chicken. It was tasty, though the breast was a little dry. We got a side of potato salad and the beans. Potato salad was very herby but couldnt tell you what made it taste that way, but good for mayo based salad. Liked the amount of sausage in the beans. Had ordered fried pickles as an appetizer but it came after our food so we were stuffed by the time they got to us. Large portion so well see if we can retoast tomorrow.One thing to note, if you expect a masked establishment this is not the place. If it wasnt cold, I might have just ate outside instead.

Unique neighborhood spot where I and friends have spent many nights, but after 3+ visits waiting 20+ minutes for even a table greet, it is tough to want to go back. Great drinks, fun bartenders, unique events and amazing chicken here, but sadly the joint now feels consistently understaffed, especially during predictably peak hours.

Pretty good. Queso was underwhelming but the cuban was nice. Service checked out half way through our meal, but bartender was the best.

Ate here on Saturday with my husband. It was super packed and there was a wait. Considering how busy it gets during the lights this totally makes sense and people need to understand that. We had a great table, Dawn was a great server, and our food was delicious.Portions were very good and prices. We enjoyed the atmosphere very much and made 2 meals out of our entries. The manager was heavily involved and making sure everything was running smoothly. We definitely will be back and don’t mind waiting for awesome food!

My husband came here for brunch the morning of our wedding with his groomsmen and he loved it so much that he brought me back the day after. AND IT WAS SO GOOD! Dalton was so friendly and kind and the food was delicious. Also probably one of the best Bloody Mary’s I’ve ever had.

We took the family yesterday, and even though it rained and they had a huge party out back, they were accommodating and found us a table near the kids playground. The kids were able to play near us, while we enjoyed delicious crawfish boil. All the food was great, the chicken tenders, fries, fried pickles, queso with brisket and sausage hit the spot. Great local craft beer selection and my sister-in-law enjoyed her mango margarita. Perfect spot for kids and parents alike. Will be back when in the area.

If the business owner/manager cant support public health initiatives, then patrons and employees wont either. Were short staffed is what she said after the manager couldnt even come to the table to address my complaints. Maybe youre short staffed because restaurant workers dont want to work at a business who has a blatant disregard for public health initiatives during a pandemic. Or maybe...maybe yall just arent passionate about what you do as a restaurant. Either way, I feel like my experience shouldve been entirely comped. The queso was good. It wasnt cold like the rest of the food.

Honestly I don’t get the hype…been here several times. So disappointed every single time. Little to no flavor and went home with an upset stomach. Every. Time. And my fiancé pukes every time we leave. I don’t recommend, personally.

The chicken tenders, beets, and fried pickles were alright, but out of six people at our table, only two meals were edible. The service was slow, the server made excuses about bringing mayo to the table 10 trips and 20 minutes later. Both burgers we ordered were tasteless and dry. Burnt on both sides but medium rare on the inside. We kept asking the server to bring BBQ sauce because we thought she was bringing us salsa. Nope, their version of BBQ sauce is tomato paste with vinegar. She then offered us two gross cupcakes with old and discolored M&M’s on top “on the house.” What a joke. I’m a server myself so I always try to cut slack a bit, but between the service and food, this place isn’t worth going to.

Proof & Cooper is a good place. Lots of fun for the family. Kids can run around outside or play games in the game room. The food is solid. The bartenders do need to work on consistency. I had to send back 2 drinks because one bartender didnt follow the recipe.

We went at 11:30/12, but the crawfish boil wasnt ready yet. That is my only downside through the entire experience.I believe our servers name was Donna. She is outstanding! Very friendly, sweet, and made us feel like family!

Their fried chicken is to die for. Everything was delicious, and their drink menu was impressive.

Proud to be Texans, theyre serving everything fresh and to order and have tons of local purveyors represented including on the bar menu. Were here on a rainy, dark, gloomy day but the outside is set up for an awesome sunny family time.

This place was a huge disappointment. We had passed by it many times and thought it looked cool from the outside and had been eager to try it. I wish we had left this place as just an idea because it was a TERRIBLE experience. Can’t speak to the food or drinks because we left after being ignored for 25-30 minutes, starting at the host stand where plenty of staff passed by us without asking if we’d been helped, etc before we finally called out to someone to ask if we could be seated. We went on the patio where ALL of the 7-8 open tables were dirty with no one in sight to clear them. We sat at the least dirty table we could find (yes, sat at a dirty table because we couldn’t find anyone to ask to bus a table), waited a while and saw a server greet the table next to us but completely ignore us and the disgusting table we were at. The whole outdoor area also reeked like sewage. Gross!! To be completely honest, it was trashy. Avoid.

This is another gem we found when we moved here we really like this place. I’ve come to find the bartenders have changed here and there the business is still good and they have the right idea with the family stuff and such a big outdoor area! The pumpkin patch season is the most busy season so make sure that you take advantage of it during the month of October! I think the only complaint I would have would be not enough parking. They definitely take a different spin on the food.

It took 20 minutes before someone asked if weve been helped, and another 5 before someone grabbed our drink order. Ordered drinks and dinner at the same time, both came out about 20 minutes later. All in all, food was decent, but the service was terrible. Was told they only had one server as an excuse, but saw several walking around. Im more upset they very little masks were worn. Some took off the masks to talk to us, several severs just didnt wear one..

Chill little place on the way to hamilton pool

My first time here. Dont be in a hurry if you order something for takeout. You will have time for a couple of beers. All the employees were wearing masks. The smoked turkey and sausage are good.

Josh and Dawn were fantastic! Great vibes and even better food!! The brisket and pork ribs were awesome but the beans and potato salad put it over the top!

Man what a disappointment compared to the first time we went here. All of the sides were cold. Fried chicken is supposed to come with biscuits, we didn’t get any. Subbed toasted bread without saying anything. You would think after how long it took to get our food it would be hot and a complete order. Ordered a cheeseburger for the kids with just meat, cheese, and catchup, came out with just meat. After it was brought back, still had to ask for catchup a third time. French fries were COLD. Drinks from the bar were really good, chicken was great, our server was nice, but everything else was pretty terrible. Probably won’t be coming back unless it’s for cocktails.

Look nowhere else, this is the MOST INCREDIBLE BBQ in Texas! Bark on the brisket, the flavor and smoke, ribs...and the sausage, WOWZA!!! Everything must be scratch-made, right down to the pickles!!! The love with which this food is prepared has NO MATCH! Christina and Adan were most kind, and helpful. Pit-master Kurt’s talent is a mouthwatering art, friendly and down to earth! Thank you for an impeccable experience!!!

Comfort food at a decent price! The fried chicken was tender and tasty. The grilled chicken was equally good. They even managed to make smoked turkey breast moist and flavorful. The quantities are quite large.

Beer is cold, food is excellent... that queso was awesome and the pulled pork too... Nashville hot chicken was delightful!

Unfortunately, they are letting the place go...service was really poor today. Back area really starting to look very worn...food was good. Waitress disappeared and we were left without service for long periods of time. Once a favorite, hopefully they get their game back!!

I don’t think I’ve ever given a place 5 stars after having to wait past the time I was told my food would be ready. The staff at Proof and Cooper immediately let me know when I arrived that my food was going to take a little longer and offered to make it up to me with a free drink or dessert. Awesome service, and the fried chicken was worth the wait!!

Food was great and although they were out of the draft I ordered, they had great alternative recommendations.

We have been going to Proof lately to support local business and food has been good. The fried chicken is delicious but the service ranges from mediocre to bad. Their website doesn’t give the correct hours of operation. today we went for brunch and after being sat by the bartender we waited quite some time and then called the one waiter over to Oder and were told they’re not serving breakfast this month because of the pumpkin patch. It’s just too busy. We are so tired of the poor business practices in Dripping. They make it difficult to do anything local. 🤬

Great food and lots of it.

I rented a place out here for 8 days, and ate at Proof & Cooper for 3 of those days. So, I think its safe to say I liked it. Everything I ordered was more than good. Also, more than enough. . . If I had to say something negative about the place it would be that the portions are too large - can that really be a complaint though? Really good prices as well!

It was our first visit and wow!!! Fantastic food, awesome drinks, wonderful live music and gorgeous setting. Were moving to the area so this will be a new hangout for us!

This place was just a horrible experience. First we went inside to ask about sitting outside in the open area where they had some games and seemed pet friendly. The bartender told us it would be fine to go outside. He took our order and told us he would be bringing our 2 drinks and appetizer to us. We had to get our own drinks. After about 20, watching someone else get there after us and order the same food and get it before us, and after we finished our drinks, I went back inside and cancelled our order for food. There were no apologies for our wait or any attempt to rectify the fact they forgot about us and were still intending to charge us. Poor service. Place looked cool though

Left after not being served even drinks for 20 minutes. Had to flag down someone to even order drinks. For a Tuesday night this was disappointing.

Good chips and queso, great burger, great chicken sandwich, awesome hot garlic sausage, brisket was a bit too peppery and the fried chicken was inconsistent (one piece was delicious and the other was tough and soaked in oil) but the biscuit was yummy.

Our server was the only redeeming quality of this establishment. When we arrived 3 hostesses talked amongst themselves on table splits for servers until they finally gave us the time of day. Items listed on their menu such as a Bloody Mary, were not available, later we were told it was because the restaurant did not have its liquor license. As other reviewers have commented, the food is unnecessarily unique. I ordered chicken wings. The flavoring which could only be described as “weird” maybe a brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg type mixture but not in a delicious donut kinda way. We asked to be seated indoors to avoid the heat and bugs, however even indoors we were able to experience both as the A/C was not cranked down low enough and there were several flies we had to focus on swatting away. I would not go to this place again.

Odd, funky local place. Good drink selection. Food unnecessarily different in the taste department. Chicken seems to be their specialty. All food is served on paper or plastic because of Im guessing legacy water / septic issues. Kids reign supreme when the weather is good because this place caters to Mom and Dad having a drink and cutting the kids loose in the back...

The bar tenders were great! Try their fried chicken and fried pickles, yum yum! Atmosphere is cute as heck too and they have a little garden growing. Kid friendly play area in the back. Highly recommend!

Fantastic experience. Very friendly and attentive Bartender. I forgot his name or Id totally give him a shout out. The food was really tasty, and the locals were friendly and even gave me some tips on finding the best swimming holes. Through conversation the Bartender heard it was my Birthday and comped my Dessert. I never would expect that, but it was really kind gesture. So, my next time passing through town Im definitely gonna go back.

Great atmosphere. Superb tasting and balanced mixed drinks. Generous portions for the price. Had a delicious burger. The fried chicken has a nice crunch to the breading but PLAIN tasting! One star docked for that reason. Other wise friendly staff and I would go back.

Overall decent experience. They were out of a few things we ordered (drinks and food) but what we got was delicious. Just rolled out a new menu so some of the prices we were charged didnt align with the menu. Service could have been better.

I have been here twice in the last two weeks, first for supper and today for lunch. Both visits impressed me with all meals for both visits excellently prepared attentive service.

We stopped here on our way to Hamilton pool and really enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and they had Great food and huge portions for the price. Locally sourced food made it even better. We had some Asian inspired peppers and they were uniquely good

Fried chicken is most dope, and the fried pickles are a must. Great place to hang out on a Saturday or Sunday with an awesome outdoor backyard if the weathers good. They have been great during covid with a drive-thru brisket and to-go lane.
