If I could give this shop 10 stars, I would. I went to Austin to try out different brands of sewing machines to find the perfect small machine to travel with for quilt retreats. I was looking at both new and pre-owned machines, and had a budget in mind, so not in the shop as the biggest spender. I was made to feel so welcome, and I was shown machines in my price range that had the features I was looking for. After visiting another shop or two, I decided on a machine from Sew Much More, primarily because the outstanding customer service made me want to give them my business--and they had a machine that fit my needs, too. I didnt decide on a machine until I got home--about 200 miles away. I was going to have it shipped, but in visiting with the lovely sales person realized we were from the same town, and she was visiting shortly. She delivered my machine to my doorstep! I truly cannot say enough about how wonderful this shop is. Shout out to Kara in particular, but honestly everyone was kind.

I went by today to see about a repair on my sewing machine. Just to get an estimate it was going to cost $40, then the lady came back and told me with labor and parts it would cost me $200, along with 8 week repair back wait. My machine was only $300, she then tried to sell me a new machine. They were not helpful with options or advice. I went to Northwest Sewing Center, they fixed it within an hour! For $28.00! Sew Much More Scam! I will never go back there.

Friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful personnel. I dropped off my sewing machine for repair and servicing and will pick it up when they call me upon completion. They expect a 1 month turn-around time, because they have so many machines being serviced right now. I think thats a good thing. 👍Ill update after I pick up my machine. The store has lots of fabric, notions and machines...Bernina, Elna, and others. Lots of notions and books. It looks like a great place for quilters and I saw a long arm there as well.A great place for sewers to shop!

Very disappointed with the service lately. I have had to take back my machine (s) 2 or 3 times for a redo. The latest one, they couldnt duplicate the problem. I get that. But to have a machine for 3 weeks for a redo is very disappointing. Then tonight, while changing the bobbin (less than 2 days after picking it up), I noticed that there is a crack in the white plastic near the bobbin case from tighting the star screw to tight. I would think the technician would have noticed it. Need to find another dealer to perform service.

They’re always super condescending in this store. They’re able to act like this because it’s a niche craft. If you would give the customer a second to explain what’s going on, that would be appreciated.Instead you’re quick to employ sharp condescension and defer help to others.

I was looking for a basic introductory sewing machine. I ended up not getting a sewing machine here (because I received one from family), but the staff (shout out to Kara) was amazing; extremely professional and helpful. I thought these guys were a trusted family business. I probably spent$10K in their store over the years. I was on first name basis. I had them service a serger machine before I put it away on a shelf for several years. When I pulled it out recently, I learned they had broken off a necessary part, and had packaged the broken piece within the box. THEY NEVER SAID ANYTHING. They charged me the full amount for the service. When I emailed about it, they had an employee say I could bring it back in for repair. No apology, no explanation. I dont live in Austin anymore, so I told the employee I was trying gorilla glue (on a very expensive machine). I havent heard from anybody since.

My experiences here have always been wonderful. They do often get very busy during a sale or when they have a special event going on. They are good about finding someone to help you, or making sure they havent forgotten you. I have always found them to be helpful. And, they are always cheerful. The place has a nice feeling when you go in and watch what is going on.Also... They always check your machine first before submitting it to the repair people to make sure it isnt something simple that you dont need to pay for. For example, when I brought my machine in to get repaired... I hadnt used that machine in over a year and everything kept getting birdnested and breaking thread. We discovered I was threading it wrong. I could have felt stupid very easily. But they didnt make me feel that way at all. I walked out of there without having to pay for a repair I didnt need AND a really good feeling about myself.Ive NEVER had a sewing machine shop ever do that before! So Sew Much More gets my five star vote for that service too!

I wanted a sewing machine. There are projects and repairs I have in mind. I did go to other stores and checked reviews online. I was confused about what to buy. The best move was going to Sew Much More.I liked this store because of the quality machines they sell, and the staff. I could tell the Baby Lock machines are better quality than the light weight (mostly plastic) Singer machines I saw elsewhere.Valuable help from Laura and Julie:Laura took a lot of time to show me various choices. She was helpful, patient, and worked with me for almost an hour. I bought a Baby Lock Rachel. Its a more expensive than planned. I feel great about the purchase.Laura gave me a mini lesson before leaving the store, and allowed me some time to practice before going home. Because of that, I was able to quickly set up my new machine. I repaired the straps on a vinyl carrying case that afternoon.I had an appointment with Julie for my free lesson. The other person buying the same machine had to cancel. It ended up being a private tutoring session for an hour. I have some great sewing samples to keep (created with my machine). Julie wrote the information about the machine settings on the fabric, with permanent marker next to each stitch, including the width and length. That is a great reference. There is free service on the machine for two years. This is a great store to work with. The machines and staff make this store better than the rest.

I am a professional seamstress, with only five sewing machines. Having a reliable repair business is essential to my staying in business. I take all my machines, new, old and vintage, to these wonderful folks. Yes, they are often busy and I have to wait, but when my turn comes I am treated like the valued customer I know I am. They know how to repair sewing machines, not just swap parts, and they carry a full line of Bernina parts and accessories. They can order just about anything for just about any machine. Oh, and then theres the classes. Outstanding classes by top notch teachers. And the fabric. Oh, the fabric! Okay, not as much inventory as a fabric store, but things you wont find anywhere else in town. And the notions. What notions! Worth going just to shop! I found a wonderful little stick-on lamp for my sewing machine, so I can see really clearly what I am sewing!

There were several sales people but they were only interested in helping a certain type of customer. I was apparently not the type they were interested in helping. I found out they do tune ups but I think I’ll just drive my machines to San Antonio (just moved from there) so I don’t irritate these people with my lowly sewing needs.Edited to add: I did ask for help and I was treated as an inconvenience. the employees were very snobby and only wanted big sales, not to help customers.

Its time for my sewing machines annual tune-up and I am bracing myself -- there are few stores that make me feel as bad about myself as this one does. I dread my annual or bi-annual sojourn to bring in my machine for a tune-up. I bought it there a number of years ago and it is still a strong machine for my needs, but each time they try to shame me into buying a new one rather than keeping the one I treasure. Im sure Ive spent more in tune-ups over the years than the machine originally cost, and their tune-up service is not cheap. But they are good at what they do, and they know this brand, so I continue to trudge there each year. When my sewing machine does finally go, I will never return to this store. I have no idea why they think shaming is an appropriate sales technique. It reminds me of a fancy hotel where the front desk clerks put on airs, even though they are clerks. Im hoping that this review helps them revamp their sales style. Shaming is never an appropriate sales technique.

I took my Bernina in for cleaning and was immediately approached by a pleasant young woman. Within a few seconds an older woman inserted herself and dismissed her. This made me feel uncomfortable. Cynthia noticed the model of my machine and kicked into sales mode, telling me about the 145 that can thread itself. I replied that I dont have any trouble threading my machine. So she mentioned another feature of the 145 so I had to tell her that I am happy with my 135 and want it serviced. At the end of the conversation she informed me that it will take about three weeks and the charge can be around $100 but they have a $50 cushion so it could be $150. That evening I assessed my experience and was pretty sure it would take three weeks and cost me $150. So I did a little online research, located another business who has excellent reviews and picked up my machine to take to that business I did not appreciate taking my machine in for service and be given a sales pitch

Cara, their trainer, had time to give me a quick threading and bobbin winding lesson. She was super encouraging and last night I was able to set up my machine and wind, all because of them.Did it drain my savings account? Yes. Is it worth it? I sure hope sew! I brought my Babylock embroidery machine here for service, after my local shop closed. They were most helpful and professional with a machine that wasnt under warranty and they hadnt sold. Since I was coming from another town, they blocked out time for the tech to work solely on my machine so that I could wait for repairs & service to be completed, and return home with the machine and not have to make another trip back to the store for pickup. As it turns out, the tech worked on it all day and it still wasnt fully serviced, so I ended up having to return anyway. During the meantime, tho, Laura took the time to show me about 4 other machines, and she was knowledgeable about them all. I ended up buying a new one, and I was able to take it home that day, so it was ok that my original machine had to stay.Subsequently, I also purchased a new cabinet (to fit the new machine) and Laura had the guys pack it up beautifully so that it made the long trip home perfectly safe and with NO scratches or damage. As it turns out, my original machine was still giving me some trouble, so they were very agreeable about taking it back to run some more tests and diagnostics on it. They are very customer-focused and service-oriented. I feel totally at ease with them & their store policies.

I am unimpressed with this place. I came in at 5:20 with my machine to have it looked at. I intended to leave it there with them if tome constrained us. Immediately Julie took my machine from me and seemed put off that she had to help me. I tried to help unwind my pedal cord and unplug but she’s ignoring me and my efforts while asking another employee if they wanted to look at the machine. She then got snarky with the other employee, who obviously didn’t understand what she said, saying “yeah, that’s what I’m asking you.” After that, Julie complained that it was the end of the day. We all work; I work out in the heat of the summer for 8 hour shifts serving the public. Despite my physically demanding job, I do not complain and excuse my attitude because I’m ready to go home. You were still well open when I walked in. She should feel privileged to have a job. Why do you need to be rude to your coworkers, especially in front of customers? I’ve been to this store before and it has never been especially impressive to me. They also pick and choose the reviews they respond to on here. My whole take from this store and the service they presented made me want to take my machine back to Houston to have it serviced. I’m sorry to inconvenience you after my drive across Austin to visit your store.

This shop is very nice. Lots of things to see and look at. I spend 25 mins looking at things and didnt see it all... But, this is also the problem. With the 6 ladies working, only one was working the machine sales section. It was very awkward and uncomfortable when I walked in as I was being passed from one gal to the next to the next. All right in front of me. The one that was actually working the area didnt seem to want to be of help. She was currently working with an older couple so I get that but she looked at me(36 year old male) and just didnt seem too enthusiastic to get to me. So I walked around for 25 mins waiting. During this time, I pulled out the phone and just starting Googling machines and average prices and got probably a better experience that way. When I asked a gal what their price for a machine was she said no she didnt know. Didnt say let me check, lets find out, nope just didnt know Im new here. Then told me the other lady would be done soon. I looked over and she was just talking stories with the couple. Thats fine, thats a good sales person. But when there is only one and there is more than one customer in the store, train the others on how to find out price of your products... Oh well. Looks like my money will be spent elsewhere. I really was looking forward to buying a Bernina here. Great shop, poor treatment if you are a younger looking male shopper.

Ive had two experiences with this store and each time was extremely disappointed in the customer service.Heres what happened the first time I came into the store (Fall 2013):Being about 6 months pregnant, I asked first whether they had a restroom. The employee said no, then, I guess when she figured out I was actually trying to shop there, remembered that they did have a restroom.I had come into the store with a question about threading my Babylock Imagine for the blind hem foot. First they told me that my serger didnt do that function, then when I showed them my instruction manual, they attempted to help me figure out the threading. Unfortunately, they couldnt figure out the instructions and just kept asking me why I would want to use that foot anyway when the Berninas can do a blind hem. After trying for about 30 minutes to figure out the threading instructions, they told me they couldnt help me anymore and Laura let me know that had I come in earlier, they wouldnt have been able to help me at all.Im now in the market for a coverstitch machine, so I just called Sew Much More to inquire about the price for the Babylock BLCS. Laura told me that she couldnt give price quotes on the phone. I think thats a terrible policy! They are only open from 10-6 on weekdays and 10-5 on Saturdays. Austin has terrible traffic. I work full time and I have a two-month old. Im not going to drive up to their location just to get a price quote.Babylock - please consider finding a different distributor! Employees at Sew Much More cant apply the instruction manual to the machines, are downright rude in person, and have inflexible quoting policies. I will never shop here again.UPDATE:I recently had a conversation with the new manager regarding my experiences with the store. She was professional and pleasant and offered to make up for my negative experiences. I suggest that if you do shop here and walk away unsatisfied, contact them about your concerns.
