Great yarn shop!!! Really enjoyed my shopping experience and met some super well versed yarn shop employees!! They were extremely knowledgeable in the wooly, rustic, yarn as well as the blends and lighter smoother options for the more typical Texas weather!! I loved that as a knitter and spinner they could tell me all about the different breeds, and how the different yarns were spun!! Fantastic experience!! Will definitely go back virtually and In person when I am in the area!!

Absolutely love Gauge! When COVID started causing closures, I wanted to make sure that I found a local place to love and support. I started ordering from Gauge and they have been awesome. Their yarn selection is great and so far I havent had a single item I didnt like. Hopefully soon I will be able to visit in person. Love this shop! As a beginner knitter, they have taken me under their wing. Everyone is very patient and helpful, even if I need guidance and it’s not during a class time. Love their drop in classes. Everyone is super experienced. I was lucky to stumble on this place.

Favorite yarn shop! Amazing variety of unique, artisan yarns with tools and inspiring ideas. Also offers frequent classes for varying levels of knitting or crochet expertise. Very knowledgeable, helpful staff. Expect to pay more than Hobby Lobby, but this store is totally worth it.

An absolutely lovely knitting shop! I was in Austin on vacation, and I love to visit local yarn shops to pick up a few skeins and get inspiration for my next project. Gauge has a great selection of yarns and was very well organized. There were also lots of samples displayed throughout the shop. Most importantly, the woman who helped us out was fabulous. We chatted about some of the recent knitting trends and some of the projects we were working on--definitely one of the friendliest yarn shops Ive been to. Definitely check out Gauge the next time you visit Austin!

With having a knitting/crochet business... I can appreciate this store on so many levels. Fair pricing, large variety, and being able to go to an actual store and find exactly what Im looking for instead of having to order online and wait for the yarn to be delivered before I can start on a project. The staff here is always very helpful and the selection of natural fibers is quite good. They offer classes for knitting, crocheting and spinning. I always spend a little bit too much, but I never regret my choices!

For having gotten rid of their extensive library and moving their needles to the back, their yarn selection hasnt changed much. They have a good selection of sale yarns still. The rewards program is fairly decent as well but only if you purchase in increments of $25. Not my first choice, but not my last resort either.

While the store isnt gigantic, its my favorite go to for all things fiber. They have a great selection And a rather large selection of needles and notions. They also support local tradespeople. And if they dont have something, theyve offered to order it for me, no problem!

This place is the best! All the staff are super knowledgeable and helpful, and I am always amazed at how they remember me by name when I walk in, even if I havent been in in months. I can even send my husband to buy yarn for me if I cant get down there myself, because I know I can tell him generally what I need and the ladies of Gauge can point him to just the right thing! Every fiber crafter in Austin should shop here!

The selection of yarn and needles is small, but there is such a cozy feel it. Of all knitting stores Ive been to the staff here is by far the friendliest.

Gauge has a great variety of yarns! But staff brings up their political views without even being asked a politically slanted question. I felt really uncomfortable there. The lady seems like I should agree with her because I shared the interest in yarn. I felt like she would have become ugly if I had told her I did not agree with her. I won’t go back. There are paces in Austin that are friendlier and where you don’t have to be of their own political alignment to shop with them. Austin has a reputation as a place where the hippies and cowboys get along. But, not at Guage.

Nice little shop. Lots of variety of quality yarns compared to Michaels and Hobby Lobby, but very little compared to Hill Country Weavers. Some staff members are friendly and others are not at all and there is always seems to be some kind of problem during checkout. But they have many sales at 20% off which is always nice and the yarns they do have are less than HCW or even online stores.

Great place To Just chill with good company,or to take trendy classes or freestyle hints from the pros. Cant wait For the crawl in Oct!
