King Liquor has fantastic customer service. They are attentive, helpful, and proactive. I will be returning here when I need more π·. Cheers! π₯
Just had a pretty funny exchange with the store manager... he had a meltdown because I wasnβt offered a mask and therefore did not wear one. (Iβm fully vaxxed and would have if it was offered). It was kinda cute. The other customer in the store seemed scared though. I left with a middle finger and a few curse words from the manager. Love the Austin etiquette.
The staff is extremely friendly and very knowledgeable. I had been looking for a specific scotch for a very long time and no one had ever found it for me, but the owner actually went to the trouble of finding it for me. They always recommend amazing selections and they all remember what I like. They obviously enjoy high quality beverages and are passionate about them. This is my favorite liquor store in Austin.
Friendly men work here- ran in JUST before close, and the guy running the show looked ten years younger than i; but knew all about the flavoring, pairings, subtleties, and composition of the Rum, Whiskey, and Tequilas they had there. It was amazing. Both were very friendly and kind- waiting to return next week; i am so impressed with his knowledge of alcohol hereβ‘
Overpriced. No wonder its so empty. Went in for a bottle and realized it is twice the price as it is at Twin Liquor. If youre going to rip people off at least have good service. But service was bad. Some small, lanky white guy staring you down the whole time. I left and he was still glaring at me. Get a real job dude and stop ripping people off. Be a little more personable if you expect people to buy your overpriced liquor.
Prices are a little higher than Im used to but the staff is great.
Best liquor store in town. Knowledgeable staff, great selection, and unparalleled customer service.
Good people. Prices are a little higher but the convenience makes up for it
Great selection and amazing staff
Story Time:Staring at a wall of tequila and getting nowhere. Suddenly, a nice lady walks up to me and asks, Can I help you find something? What follows is a wonderful display of great hospitality. She started kindergarten for me and worked her way up to what the critics are raving about. This place is a gem.Environment:Its a liquor store. It looks like a liquor store but it feels like a liquor library. Quiet, but vast. Vast, but organized. Organized, and well managed and maintained.Liquor:I cant even begin to touch in the vastness and selection there is for you at King Liquor.Service:Staff very knowledgeable.Extras:Tastings pretty regularly.Summary:If you dont find what youre looking for, youll find what you need.
Outstanding service!
Iβm a local - fair prices, sophisticated selection. Everybodyβs go to. Sam and Karen are tremendous.
Over priced for the area.
Possibly the highest prices in Austin! I have been to dozens of liquor stores in the greater Austin-area and this takes the cake for worst pricing. I understand that when you shop local mom and pop style stores you will be paying a bit more but on my last visit I saw pricing that was over double retail. In the case of the Henry McKenna 10 year bourbon they were asking almost triple. This is just blatant price gouging due to the current popularity of bourbon. I will not support an establishment that practices business in this way and I suggest you do the same.Update and Response to Owner:I understand how the allocation works and that you do have to push the lower end items to get the good stuff. While this is the case, somehow every other small store I visit is able to not gouge on these still. I understand paying 10% or 20% more to offset these costs but you are pushing these items at 200% more. You have Willett 6 year listed at $249.99 (I bought the same bottle last week at a tiny family-owned store for $109.99). Sorry if I dont buy the excuse.
This place is on my block, and I usually go there for their excellent beer selection. Their liquor options are extensive as well, but typically 5-8 dollars more expensive than youd pay at Specs. That said, I have no problem paying a little more for the friendly service and great selection. The staff knows what theyre talking about and Ive never received a bad suggestion. Everyone is friendly to me and my dog, Stout, when we walk there. Its a well run, fairly priced, well stocked gem on lower Burnet.
This is the only spot in the neighborhood to find a curated selection of wines and spirits you cannot get in the chains. Good prices and excellent service.
Good spot to swing in of you dont want to deal with the mega Twin Liquor stores!
I would highly recommend checking prices before buying anything here. I just assumed in this industry, there wouldnt be such a thing as price gouging, but after purchasing a bottle of whiskey to later find out a friend had just bought two bottles at a different liquor store down south for the same price as my one bottle...lets just say I learned my lesson the hard way. If you dont mind spending more, then by all means go here, but if you do, I would just check prices first.
This is my favorite liquor store in town although I mostly just get beer here. Theyre super friendly without being pushy and just want to help you find the right drink. Theres a great selection of beer thats average priced. They used to have a mystery 6-pack of beer which was exciting, but sadly, I havent seen it in a while.
Great service and selection
This is a nice store with one downfall, that woman that works in the morning (use to have a black dog in the store) is very unfriendly to rude! Notice certain types of customers she comes from behind the counter to help them and show them directly where items of liquors are placed, and other customers she seems to seem NOT up to HER preference she does NOT and has an attitude of negative towards them. I also see most of these reviews are posted by HER preference of customers. WHEN ALL CUSTOMERS MAKE YOUR BUSINESS!!! And noticed how certain customers are constantly WATCHED as if one needs to steal from THEM!!! WE HAVE MONEY ALSO!!!
I was going to go out of my way to go to another liquor store but this was on my way home, so I figured I would try here first. The second I walked in, someone working there greeted me and asked if I was looking for something specific, and I was - triple distilled tequila for margaritas. He immediately handed me a bottle. I was skeptical because of his being so sure, thought maybe it was something he was just trying to get it off the shelf. He then took me to the margarita mixes and pointed out his favorite. I decided to go with his recommendations, just to see. And these are seriously the most delicious margaritas I have ever tasted. I was expecting to spend some time looking and then having to decide blind. So glad I decided to stop here! I will be going back for sure.
Locally owned, fantastic selection and friendly!! Get what you want or try one of their suggestions. We have been coming here for years and love the business.
Fantastic selection of everything from wine to Tequila. Best selection of specialty liqueurs in town. Tons of craft beers. Highly recommend!

Best place for a kids birthday party
Best whiskey selection around. Great wine and good staff to help.
Calm, relaxed atmosphere with wines ranging from omnipresent multinational brands to offbeat, enticing bottles from smaller and independent companies. Well-organised wine and spirits shop.
I got the opportunity to spend quite a bit of time with owners and management while running a liquor promotion at Kings. The level of service is top-notch, the emplyees and ownership truly care about their customers and the customers experience
