Great place to buy premium natural hardwoods for those that are needing to. Great sales staff that works on getting the best prices for customers and they are very helpful to make sure you know and understand what material you are getting. Giving it 4 stars simply because the wait time is long whenever you are picking up materials for yourself. They do offer delivery though which is great as long as you are not pressed for time with needing the materials to complete a project. Highly recommend!

If you like woodworking and want fantastic lumber options, this is your place. Be careful though, you may go there just to buy 10 of red oak, but you will likely leave with that and 20 of other lumber. There price on mahogany is just crazy.

Carried a flatbed load here, lots of overnight parking and everyone I came in contact with was friendly and helpful. I was escorted to an alternate warehouse and unloaded quickly. Could have been a better rate, $3,100 from Mountain City TN. but I still made some scratch.

Dont usually leave reviews, but I called this place to get quote for 50bf 4/4 cherry lumber I wanted to buy for a special project, and I wanted to make sure the quality was what I was looking for. The look of the wood was very important for this particular project. The person on the phone was not professional at all and extremely rude. He was rushed, short and annoyed with my questions. I asked if they had photos of the lumber in stock (I was looking for 75%+ heartwood) or on their website .He told me to do a google search of what cherry wood looks like- insinuating I did not know what cherry looks like, seriously ? Never going to do business with them again. Very unprofessional and not customer service oriented.

I understand the covid has businesses doing things a little different but when I have to go to the front wait for a ticket go to rhe back wait for the product then go back to the front and pay for it the compounded time wasted costs me money. Usually a half hour to do anything there lately its an hour minimum and way too deep in Austin.

Purchased a major piece of equipment today had lots of choices and took my time. Bob over at Dakota hardwoods in Austin made it easy and right. Good to see a corporation keeping experienced seasoned knowledge around.

I showed up yesterday at Dakota Lumber in my ugliest pair of jeans and an old t-shirt, all sweaty from work to buy one hardwood board. They had never seen me before, but I was treated as if I had arrived in a limousine. Looking around the office, I saw complete stocks of hardware, hinges, fasteners, glue, etc. - everything a woodworker needs.When introduced to the warehouse, my salivary glands went into overdrive! The warehouse is massive, with neatly arranged and carefully stacked stores of every type of hardwood you could desire. To me, it smelled like heaven! And unlike other places, where the lower boards have been destroyed by careless forklift drivers, this warehouse was different. No damaged boards and the warehouse was as clean and well organized as the office.As it turned out, the maple I needed was stored near the bottom of a tall stack. No problem. Nothing but positive attitude. My host climbed into a forklift and expertly removed the lumber above, and I was left alone to make a selection. All the wood looked good, so I picked a board and they opened doors, and told me the paperwork would be ready after I loaded the wood in my vehicle. It was, and the bottom line was about half what I expected. I probably shouldnt have said that! However, I have a feeling they wont use that against me. In fact, I have a really good feeling about this place, and I recommend Dakota Lumber to any furniture maker, luthier, sculptor, cabinet maker, and anyone who enjoys working with high quality wood. Ill be back. You can bet on it!

Granted I am a small business and only purchase $500 to $1000 worth of lumber a month and it was certainly my fault for showing up on OMG I cant stand customers day (AKA Friday). However all five of the people in the office looked at me when I walked in and looked away. I made eye contact with the idle woman at what looked like the front desk, said Hello, she dead eyed me for a moment and looked away. Whatever. I left and will not bother them again.
