I read the other three reviews, particularly the one where a woman implied the owner was bad tempered and greedy and wondered if we were talking about the same auto electric shop in Baker City, Oregon.I was on the way back to the Oregon Coast Friday evening, 10/13/17 and when I stopped at a motel in Baker City my truck wouldnt restart. The battery was almost dead and I figured there was maybe a problem with the alternator. I mentioned it to the motel manager and she said that Clarks Auto Electric could fix my truck and they were open on Saturday. The next morning my insurance companys roadside assist person gave me a jump start and confirmed that Clarks was capable and a good place to repair my truck. So, I drove over and was pleasantly surprised when the owner, Jerry, said he could get right to work on it and had a replacement alternator in stock. The job took him a couple hours longer than usual because of a tough-to-reinstall mounting bolt, but he only charged me for one hour labor. The replacement alternator price was fair and the total bill was more than reasonable. So I wouldnt exactly call Jerry greedy and he wasnt bad tempered; in fact he was more or less smiley and cheerful the whole time he was trying to get the recalcitrant mounting bolt installed. In summary, I am grateful to Clarks for being able to replace my alternator on a Saturday. Had it been any other shop I would have had to wait over the weekend and probably would have been lucky to have it fixed the following Monday. As it turned out, I was back on the road early Saturday afternoon.I would definitely recommend Clarks Auto Electric to anyone.
Great fast service and friendly. Dont understand negative comments, they have always been great the few times I have asked for their help.
My Rav4 randomly stopped starting and we didnt know why. We towed it to these guys and they were amazing. They got it back up and running quickly, and Im quite confident they charged me way less than anywhere else would have. We were super impressed with the service. Will go back to them again for sure.
This business at first glance might make you wonder, I have always had a great experience. I have always been greated with smiles and the people there have always been helpful and extrermely fair . When I canpick up a car battery with a warranty for 15 dollars that is awesome .
This repair shop didnt fix what theyre suppose to fix On our truck..spent more than $500 dollars but nothing was fixed.
Took my 1996 F250 to get repaired. It was slow starting in the mornings and was not sounding the way a diesel motor should. I was charged for two items and asked to see the used parts. I was told they no longer had them. Truck was still not sounding correct. I called the owner and he said he would call me and try to fit me in again. He never called back. Charged over $600. Found they only changed one side and it was not done correctly. Found the other side still had original part and was not repaired as charged.
Cheats & liars. Dont trust these folks. They start out cheap but then find things that jack up the final bill.
This place is a joke! They said they could fix it spent $200 and nothings fixed. He wasnt honest and a liar!!!
My daughters van broke down east of Baker City, Oregon. We called Les Schwab believing it was the battery. They told us to get the alternator checked at Clarks. When we went to him he said it was the alternator and called places to find an alternator. He said he could not find one so my husband called around and found one at OReilleys. We were told that it could be put in that day. So my husband and I left to continue on our vacation believing that my daughter, son-in-law and 18 month old grand daughter would be in good hands. We couldnt have been more misinformed. OReilleys agreed to have the alternator delivered to Clarks. It showed up and my dutiful son-in-law paid for it. Then Jerry the owner refused to put in the alternator. His excuse was that because he didnt run that part through his accounting he was going to lose money. He also stated that he was mad because my son-in-law paid for the part before he could get to it. So because he got his feelings hurt he refused their business. Now he has stranded a small family in an unfamiliar city all for the sake of a few dollars. This man has no capacity for human kindness. No one should ever frequent his business again. If I could give this establishment negative stars I would. It doesnt deserve he one star I had to give it in order to write this review to inform the public what an awful business this is.
