We chose World Records to have my son & daughter-in-law’s wedding and reception and we could not have been happier with how the entire evening turned out. The record storefront was the perfect backdrop for the pre-wedding cocktails, photos and mingling and the concert area in the back was transformed into a beautiful wedding venue where the bride & groom were married on stage while the floor below comfortably accommodated 130 seated guests for dinner & dancing. The caterers had access to a huge kitchen & the facility rental fee also included the guest tables & chairs. Bar service was handled by World Records so that was one less thing we had to worry about (& their prices were more than reasonable). We were allowed plenty of access time before the wedding for set-up and we were not rushed to tear-down and clean-up immediately afterward. There was ample free parking for our guests and security was arranged through World Records, as well. Pat & Bonnie were very friendly, easy to work with and extremely flexible with all of our set-up requests. I feel it is also worth mentioning that they are extremely earth-conscious and recycled as much of our reception disposable materials as was possible. (Just another bonus I feel should be considered when choosing a venue). If you are looking for a unique venue to host your next event, I would strongly recommend you support Bakersfield’s locally owned, World Records! I promise that you will not be disappointed!
Pat the owner is always helpfull. They ussualy have what you need. If not they can order it for you and have it there fast. They also have great concerts there.
Pat works real hard to find all of your music needs !If they dont have the cd or album in stock your looking for they will special order it for you if you want !I have been a customer for over 20yrs & I can tell you that Pat is a great guy to work with !Give world records a shot, when buying your cds or albums .You wont regret it.It is another way of supporting our local business.
Best record store in the business! Great Concert venue. One of bakersfields rare diamonds 🎸🎤🎹🎶🎵
Just love this place and the people who run it! Great food, brew, and live entertainment at its best! The amazing music even got my husband up to dance - you know this is a happening place! Highly recommend this for unforgettable date nights, anniversaries or just to keep the F-U-N in your life!
Great concert venue! Pat has turned it into a beautiful, intimate place to showcase talent that wouldnt normally play in b-town. My hubby loves playing there!
Pat and Bonnie Evans have an amazing venue with amazing concerts. Accustics are incredible! Not a bad seat in the house . The micro brews, good wine and incredible pizzas top it off!
The BEST place to see a concert. Their 100th concert starring Elvin Bishop was out of this world. The Pattersons opened and they were terrific..Man those young ladies are first rate musicians and absolutely gorgeous to boot.Their dad aint bad either.
Number 1 place to get all your music needs. Pat & Bruce are the greatest. Able to order imports and get them in a day or two. Always knows whats going on in the music scene here in Bakersfield. Blues, Jazz and much more. Cant wait for them to open up their stage.
Legitimately one of the most important places in Bakersfield. Support them. They enrich our city, and teach new generations music history and Identity. Their concerts venue in the back is fantastic.
Excellent venue. Very intimate and not a bad seat in the house. Top Notch entertainment.
Theres just something about a real record store and World Records is that. Since 1982 theyve been doing it right and the fact that they are still around in this day and age speaks for itself. Great selection and quick turn around on no extra cost special order items. A staff that is knowledgeable, friendly and definitely music lovers makes it worth the visit. The new version of the store with food, drink and venue for live music makes World Records even more special and unique!
I love World Records!! Vinyl everywhere. All different types. If Pat doesnt have it. He will find it for you. They have concerts there with food and drinks. Stop by, you wont be sorry.
We went for an event, had a great time, stayed to look at the vinyl, will definitely recommend the shop to friends and coworkers 😁
Great hosts, sound and vibe. Never a disappointment
Such great service. Beautiful store. Just out right amazing.
World Records is unique! One of the few full-service record stores still operating, it doubles as a great concert/event venue.Besides having an extensive inventory of CDs and vinyl on hand, Pat Evans and crew will special order any music you want and get it to you quickly. The beautiful concert venue in back has hosted many well-known blues, rock, jazz and Americana artists (from Coco Montoya and Tinsley Ellis, to Los Lobos, to Ace Frehley, to Spyro Gyra) and offers an intimate space with high quality sound and lighting all at affordable ticket prices. They even offer wood-fired pizza, snacks, and beer/wine on concert nights.Stop by and meet Pat Evans, get some music, and buy some concert tickets. You can thank me later!
Great show. loved the blue Grass sax!
I absolutely love world records the music selection is awesome and the owners are fantastic people! Luv it!
Dealing records still, but not a real friendly place. Asked the guy working if he knew of anyplace that would buy a bunch of albums from the sixties. He told me no, take them to a thrift store.
Everytime I go, I have a fabulous time! Always meet new people, food is good, sound is awesome! Music is always wonderful
What a great concert venue....we just attended the concert of the legendary Petula Clark there where she put on a truly great performance.... total entertainment pleasure
Wide selection, and love that he can order whatever youre looking for
Went to a Rhonda Vincent concert at World Records. It was a great show, at an awesome venue for a smaller concert.
They got what i need
Wow! Fantastic concerts in a record store. Lovin it.
Awesome place. Bruce keeps it old school and accommodates all genres.
One of a kind venue, one of a kind staff. Fantastic!
Nice place but the music was what made the night...Rick Estrin and the Nightcats, talking about some good blues!! 💙
I been going to this store for nearly 2 decades, ever since I was in high school. This is when they were located on Stockdale. Anyways, this store is one of the best music stores in town. Pat and Bruce are 2 of the most stand up guys there is and they care about music as much as you do. If you cant find what your looking for in other places, then these guys have your back. They can pretty much find you anything you need, if they dont have it, they will get it for you in a couple of days. I mean seriously, you cant beat that. All you have to do is ask. I havent been going to them much recently do to circumstances, but when I do they never disappoint. If there was a specific cd I wanted and I couldnt find it anywhere in town, then all I would do is ask them and in 2 days, the cd will be in my hands. Hands down, the best music store in town. If you have a chance and you love music like I do, then this is your one stop shop. Trust me, they never let you down.
Lacking majorly for any good records - should be called World CDs or World Albums if they wanna keep it vintage. As a hardcore record collector Ive never been able to go in there and find anything - except when I was like 13 and grabbed a misfits cassette tape. Or maybe a few mr t experience 7s once upon a life. But now? Meh.
Great place the see a concert, nice staff, good food
Awesome place. Rhonda Vincent was on fire.
Wont buy back records unless theyre pophlar.
I love this store. I bought my first CD ever at this store back in the late 90s. They are always very helpful and their prices are reasonable. In response to the person ticked off that they didnt have vinyl despite being called World Records and saying their prices are too high; how about you take a class in business and think. They are a small business, not a chain, therefore their prices might seem a bit higher. But their customer service is far better than the chains because THEY CARE. Stop reading into the name so much...vinyl has its charm but just because the word record is in the title doesnt mean they have to have vinyl. Keep doin what youre doing, WR, you guys rock my world!
Love this place and the blues series concerts.
They had it all plus personality
Pat, the owner, goes out of his way to help his customers!
Fantastic store and a fabulous concert
