This is seriously the greatest brewing store I have ever stepped foot into. They have an amazing selection of brewing supplies and the owner is friendly and knowledgeable. They even offer classes if you want to learn how to get into brewing. I cant recommend this store enough. If you even have the slightest interest in brewing your own beer, this is the best place to go.

Very conversational salesfolk, and a pretty decent supply. They were also helpful in helping me find slightly less expensive options for my particular needs. And on my last visit, I discovered they have a pretty sweet deal on used (but guaranteed) kegs.

The place is PERFECT for home brewers of all experience levels. Every single person who works here is super knowledgeable and friendly... I dont think Ive ever walked in an out without having a great conversation about brewing. I actually comparison shopped them to many online retailers and couldnt beat their prices after shipping charges. The owner is very friendly and helpful and has great suggestions. As a neophyte brewer, I couldnt have asked for a better experience. I had already attended one of H&Hs Homebrewing 101 classes. Pete then walked me through my first home brew. He helped me decide on a style, and guided me through the brewing process with a very laid-back, knowledgeable approach. I appreciated that he patiently answered all my questions. The guy has a passion for brewing, which is a much better experience than home-brew shops staffed by people that seem to know nothing about brewing. Oh, and of course the shop has a huge selection of ingredients, guides, and equipment.

I was skeptical of the 5 stars on google but i checked it out and its a legit Homebrew shop. They had a large selection of malts, and hops. When asked they had good advice even for an advance Brewer like myself. Support this guy because long island needs more good Homebrew shops. 5 stars.

I started brewing in December 2013 and Homebrews and Handgenades has been my go to place. The owner Pete, has always been more than willing to help me with all my newbie questions. The shop is fully stocked with fresh hops, grain, and extracts (liquid and dry). He also has a good supply of brewing accessories (carboys,ale pales, etc).Homebrews and Handgrenades also host a monthly bottle swap where you get meet other beer nerds and tatse their brews.Bottom line is if your a novice or advanced brewer, extract or all grain, this is a great place to shop.

Great homebrew shop; by far the best on Long Island. Always has fresh yeast and hops; great selection of fresh bulk grain. Its so nice to be able to buy exactly the amount of malt you need; no more leftover bags of 1/4 or 1/2 lb of specialty grains sitting around getting old. And everything turns over so quickly, I dont have to worry how long the ingredients have been sitting like in some other shops. Great selection of equipment too.The staff are extremely knowledgeable, and always helpful & willing to chat. I have no concerns sending a new homebrewer here to get started with equipment and advice.The fact that the store is so close to home makes it that much better. All in all, I dont think a new (or experienced) homebrewer could find a better place to go.

I just bought my first home brew beer making kit off Craigslist for a steal of a deal because the previous owner became gluten intolerant out of nowhere and just wanted to get rid of his kit. So i found myself in need of a few odds and ends equipment as well as a Ingredient kit. So on my way home from work I stopped at homebrews and handgrenades . Walked in to a very clean and well organized shop with what seemed to be a massive amount of fresh ingredients as well as pre packaged kits that are the owners own recipes! I was greeted by the owner who was really cool and laid back and super helpful. I bombarded him with questions and he was more than willing to answer every one of them. He gave me a lot of pointers and handed me his business card said to call if I ever needed anything and if it was during closed business hours to Facebook message him and that he would get back to me asap. Hes the kind of guy that is passionate about home brewing and wants to really give back to the home brewers with knowledge and help. So I bought a fermonster fermenter carboy which after reading reviews is better than other carboys on the market as well as a hydrometer test tube and a thermometer for my brew kettle everything was reasonably priced and cheaper than online. So now it came to me picking out a ingredient kit so I explained what types of beers I liked and asked him if he had any summer ale kits. To my surprise he didnt have a pre packaged kit but he said its not a problem Ill whip you up a fresh kit. Right in front of my eyes he went to each container and pulled out the appropriate Ingredients and measured on the scale then grinded up what needed grinding and included a summer ale specific instructions step by step guide. I mean how much more convenient can it get ?! Theres a home brew store much closer to me but after this visit I think I will become loyal to homebrews and handgrenades for sure ! Btw check out their groupon for a homebrew 101 class I bought it and cant wait to attend !

Best homebrew store in nassau county! they have a great selection of grains, and will grind on premises! They have everything youll need to make a perfect batch of beer. If youre thinking of becoming a home brewer you should definitely stop in and speak with the owner, who also offers homebrewing classes. I love going to this store and talking shop. And they have monthly bottle swaps where folks bring in their homebrew to share and critique with others. Definitely worth a look.

Ive been homebrewing since January 2014. Ive been to a few homebrew supply shops all over Long Island, but Homebrews and Handgrenades is by far the best shop of them all. The shop is clean and brightly lit, you can get all your base and some specialty malts ground on premesis, to the oz for the majority (certain specialty grains are only available in 1lb bags), and all the hops and yeast are fresh. If he didnt have something, he would order it, and he is always helpful when you ask for his opinion of a recipe. Almost everything I learned about homebrewing, I learned through picking Petes brain. If you are thinking about homebrewing, or have been brewing for years, this is the place to go to.

Homebrew and Handgrenades to is my local, go to homebrew shop.  The owner has been helpful with collaborating on some of my recipes.  I have been to several of the monthly bottle swaps and met other local homebrewers, along with mead and wine makers.  There is a great homebrew community being built around the store.  As someone who has been buying my ingredients off line for several years and generally brewing alone, it is great to get to walk into a store, smell (and taste) the grains before buying them, speak with knowledgably, enthusiast people, and share my (usually) great homebrew. Great selection of hops and yeast as well.
