If you live 2 hours+ from Service Photo πΈ,go there! They have everything you could want and if they dont, they will get it for you, right away. Huge amount of clean used cameras and lenses.Lastly, the staff is friendly and extremely knowledgeable second to none and there are several to wait on youI cant say enough of good things about Service Photo. Also they are right in the center of a wonderful area of restaurants and too may shops to count, all kinds of goodies!!Go to Service Photo πΈ and spend the day!!
Great service! It was a bit crowded on the day I visited. However, a salesperson approached me immediately and asked if I needed help. I was able to find an affordable camera upgrade and will return to purchase some lenses. ππΏ
I have been dealing with Service Photo for quite some time. When I am ready to purchase photo equipment, I donβt check any other photo supply store, absolutely no reason to. Their service, employees, price and knowledge canβt be matched. It is a pleasure to deal with Service Photo.
Okay I love this place I like it for professional photography supplies and the cameras they had but if you were an employee service a customer you should make sure that the customer has all the wiring and parts.they didnt give me a cord to charge my camera with I purchased for the first timeI wish they sell complete camera sets and kits like Amazon the representative didnt even offer me one maybe because I was black and he thought I didnt have enough moneyWhat he should have did was she offered me that Canon camera with the built-in flash
Best camera store in Maryland. New and used. Personnel knowledgeable.
Super happy about my visit here the other day... Service photo came highly recommended by friends so I went there even though I live in Pennsylvania. They were able to help me decide which of a few cameras was worth keeping and adding to, and even told me to take the older rejects to Best Buy because they apparently have a collection for recycling purchasing rather than tossing it in the landfill. Super happy about an all-in-one collapsible tripod selfie stick that works with cameras and phones that I got there and have been using non-stop ever since! And did I mention that they graciously handled all of this, as a team, on a Friday, an hour before closing! Really great service and knowledge! Thank you all!
Love this place! Buy local! The prices are as good as you can get but they also have a staff who will help you and take their time in doing so!
Service Photo Supply had a Nikon camera that I wanted but was listed as out of stock on Nikons web site. When I called to inquire about it, the associate I spoke to let me reserve it overnight. When I went to pick it up this morning, I was helped immediately--even though the shop was very busy--by a very helpful and knowledgeable associate. Im so glad I could buy local to make this purchase!
Service Photo Supply, Incorporated: A camera shop for the rich.(Read their response below. Apparently they feel they do no wrong and made no attempt to try and take a little responsibility for not treating a customer all that well beyond a minimal apology.)Today, I excitedly chose my inaugural bike trip in Baltimore to run a errand to Service Photo Supply, Inc., to try and get fixed a mostly unused, and/or secure a new, Nikon camera body. I am an excited amateur who regularly purchases lower-cost Nikon camera equipment and had a Nikon D3400 camera body that failed me soon after purchase. It was my mistake not to get it fixed under warranty, i accept that, but i thought i might try and see, if maybe for around $200 dollars, i could get my camera body fixed. I am an environmentalist that rails at the idea that a camera that cost me $4-500 to purchase, cannot somehow be rehabilitated and not become a burden to an already resource burdened planet. What i hoped to experience at Service Photo Supply, Inc., was to see an honest attempt to try and rehabilitate a fundamentally unused Nikon camera. I wanted someone to say, let me spend ten minutes trying to figure out how to fix your unused camera. What i got from Service Photo Supply, Inc. was mostly silence. Clearly from their perspective I was not a customer to pursue in a world where camera lenses can cost $25,000 or more. I used to date a Brooks Institute of Photography student in California. At the local Nikon store there was a guy named Thomas who, no matter what kind of customer you were, he would bend over backwards to try and solve your camera equipment problem. At Thomass store, although there was a strong cadre of professionals who love to come in and talk shop about the latest and most cutting edge equipment, there was also a commitment to grow and try to nurture the needs of the most average camera enthusiasts. I clearly felt this environment was not part of what I saw at Service Photo Supply Inc.. Once i was tagged as a amateur with a low-end Nikon product all i got was pretty such silence. Seriously, i would have been much happier if the staff person i dealt with had said hey maybe I can help find an alternative to fixing your D3400. But i did not, he clearly seemed to want to move me out the door. Anyway, I would not recommend Service Photo Supply unless you are looking to purchase higher end photo equipment. At Service Photo Supply, if you are rich, we will take care of you.
Just bought a new r5 camera body and 50 mm lens and Iβm very happy with the camera. They show me few camera to choose one and they let me try each one. Good service I will get back to the store every time that I need new equipment.
Staff (Dan) very helpful. Good advice and no pressure
Very friendly service Only full service nikon camera shop around Baltimore metro area Is that I know of
Go support your local camera shop. Love the atmosphere, knowledgeable staff. Great selection of new & used gear for your cameras
Amazing service. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable. They have a great used selection of lenses and bodies. Overall best photography supply store in the area. I will be coming back in the future for sure!
Had a great experience there. Drove from Mount Airy to Baltimore to purchase batteries and a SmallRig L bracket. Store was laid out very well and clean. Helpful staff got me exactly what I needed in no time.Wish the parking situation was betterHighly recommend!!
Great place to go in and get your hands on all the latest and greatest offerings from Nikon, Fuji,Sony, etc. Knowledgeable staff that is super helpful and friendly. They also have a great selection of bags, tripods, lighting & studio equipment, and accessories for everyone from the beginner to the professional.Be sure to check out their used gear selection. You can often find gear in excellent shape at a fraction of the cost of equivalent new equipment. They are also a repair intake facility so if you break your equipment they know what to do.
Great staff, wide selection of gear and supplies. I go here for both film/darkroom supplies as well as digital gear. The used selection is competitively priced and they usually have a wide selection of available items. New selection is similarly wide and the staff is great about giving you all the info you could need.
As always great service. Lauren and Eric.
Just so glad for my visit this last week. Camera stores, these days, are few. Great to know they are still around. Professional, knowledgeable staff.
Service Photo is my go to shop for photo equipment. I have worked with both the staff and Mr Seim. Every staff member has been kind, courteous and makes sure that I get everything Iβm looking for. Prices are exactly the same as I would pay at a online store, so I would much rather support a local camera shop. Especially, since our local shop is now closed. I wouldnβt hesitate to recommend Service Photo to anyone seeking photography equipment.
What a great place to buy a camera and accessories. The stores focus is on high quality products, good prices and amazing customer service. After making a new camera purchase Lauren, who helped me, very eagerly proclaimed now you have us too. She proceeded to show me the basics of my new camera and told me to come back with any questions. She also told me they would be happy to teach me more anytime. I am so glad I bought my camera from them. Looking forward to many more years of interacting with this store.
Great selection. Super friendly and helpful staff. Super fast camera service. Really helped me out in a time crunch.
Im *very* impressed with the service Ive received here. Not only has the communication before I decided to have my camera worked on been excellent, but also when I was in the store.I was promised that my camera, having been dropped off Saturday lunchtime, would be ready on the following Tuesday - it was, in fact, ready Monday just before lunchtime. In addition to the fast work there was no pressured sales tactics, and every single member of staff Ive spoken to has been friendly & polite. Probably the best service Ive received in any camera store, in any country or State (Ive been to a few!). Ill most certainly be back.
One of my favorite places to be. Always have you need and the staff are very knowledgeable and insightful. An amazing anchor to the photography community in Baltimore and the surrounding areas.
Had what I wanted and nice staff.
Wildly helpful and friendly. I went in knowing nothing at all about cameras AND having a niche problem to solve and they had me in and out of the door quickly and with a smile. Also, their COVID considerations are top notch.
Service photo is a great camera shop, which is even more amazing because they are the only real camera shop in Baltimore. Great staff, always interesting used gear selection, camera bags you can hold and feel. They can also take care of sending out your repairs.
First time been inside a real camera store in 5 yrs. Was a pleasant experience. See Jack - a great guy, knowledgeable & unhurried (Iβll forgive him for being a Nikon guy!)
The staff is very polite and knowledgeable of every equipment that they have in stock.
Service photo is THE place to go for professional photographers as the entire staff is very knowledgeable about the top of the line cameras and lenses.
Love camera stores and willing to spend big bucks
Very helpful sales force. Ask them any question and they know the answer.
Good Services, good customer relation & standard supply. They are ready to listen and answer all your questions.
My used Nikon D4 arrived the very next day on my doorstep. It is in fantastic condition, better than described, and was still in its original box (that was a surprise). Best part of all - I got it for a song (compared to the going eBay sold prices). Im planning on shopping at Service Photo for my next D4 and other gear. A+
Tedd is so helpful and friendly. They have all the film camera basics and so many helpful employees. Iβve been coming to this place for years and can only say great things.
Awesome place to get everything photography.Although dont rely on them to have all the most accurate information. Example: I called and asked to confirm that they only rent out Canon and Nikon. Cool; confirmed. I asked if they rent it out converters (Im a %100 Sony) no they dont. Cool. I asked if they rent out external flashes and they said yes they do but only for Canon and Nikon. And I said well Im pretty sure my Sony camera uses the same hotshoe size as a Canon. (Ive used a few friends EF before- Canon) and the guy on the phone swore up and down left and right that Sony absolutely cannot use the same flashes. Well thats just plain incorrect. I actually just went to my friend studio and used his equipment just the same as he did and he has a Canon and I have a Sony system.. I have no issue with somebody telling me that they dont know but I have an issue with an expert telling me wrong information.
Great place with rentals, new and used gear, and guys that have no problem coming from behind the counter and helping you or answering questions. Im happy I found this place even though it is a drive from Bowie, MD. The drive is well worth it!
Great store, helpful staff. Thanks for a great shopping experience.
Love trying out new lenses for my camera. Great service and lots of help with helping me buy one from them.
Came to repair my T7i for a power module, they gave me the number for Canon HQ and didnt try to upsell me or $75 diagnostic and then ship to HQ
Great staff. Fast service. Knowledgeable employees.
High standards of Customer Service. Whooohooo!! Plus, the highest protocols of Covid Safetu Measures. YES
Great group of people. Very knowledgeable.
First time ever going to a local camera store. Very cool experience. Purchased a new fuji xf 35mm 1.4. Will come back in the future.
Unlike with the box stores and the online auction places I can aways get quick and knowledgeable information about my photo and video gear without delay. A breath of fresh air .
Friendly, knowledgeable, and extremely helpful! Thanks Al, it was a pleasure!!
Only game in town, BUT the best game in town. I absolutely love it place. I wont call it a store because its much more. There is a wealth of knowledge here that you wont believe. Someone is always there to attend to you as well as answer all of your questions. Very knowledgeable staff!
Best place in the region to purchase and sell photography equipment!
Love this store. The staff is so nice and very knowledgeable. Being someone newer to all this they made my experience so simple. Answered all my questions and some. Definitely my camera store of choice from now on.
Great place to buy photography gear. I had my Nikon D750 cleaned at Service Photo, they did a wonderful job! Thanks to all the employees!
After the latest experience, it will be my last. Let me start from the beginning, I started shopping here after the local Ritz closed. After shopping there for a few months, I had some really bad customer service experiences from one of the big camera brands and wanted to switch systems. When I took my gear in for trade, the owner proceeded to lecture me about their business model and how they βloose money somewhere in the process.β I overlooked as all of the previous time were stellar service there. Out of 4 years and countless purchases, Iβve had to return some items due to defects, or overall dissatisfaction. When you pay the prices for modern camera gear, you should be 100% happy with it. I went to exchange a camera I bought (was within my 30 day period) due to an issue not fixed by firmware update, and just not liking the camera. The employee working with us made the experience uncomfortable from the beginning. After picking out another camera for the exchange, we were then told that there would be a restocking fee (which I didnβt unreasonable). The point the really soured us when the employee lectured us about it being close to 30 days (it was 25 days after purchase, well within the return policy outlined), how there business model works, and that they were refusing to offer their return policy on the new camera we would be exchanging for. Any defects or issues would have to be dealt directly through the manufacture, and they would not stand behind it. With the modern day market, I whole heartedly support small local businesses. But when businesses treat you like this and that business prides itself on customer service, itβs really hard to go back.
The best photography services in the area! You can buy online if you want but the pros at service are always knowledgeable and give attentive customer service
Courteous staff who understand photography. Great store!
My first time stopping by this place and it was an absolute candy store equivalent to a photographer. Each person was extremely helpful and helped me get a trade done with ease! Highly recommend stopping by and see the many things they have!
One of the last but best camera stores in Maryland. The staff are very knowledgeable and helpful and their inventory is fantastic.
Excellent and friendly service. Would recommend.
Great place to get camera and related equipment. Friendly knowledgeable staff. They dont work on commission. Prices were equal to online prices. So go ahead and get down there and support a local business.
Excellent service!! My camera was in a car accident and I needed a repair estimate for the insurance company. The staff was very helpful identifying what I needed. For about $80, you get an estimate letter for the insurance company, which you can use toward the purchase of a new camera. My personal turn around time was same day, but your results may vary. The store is spacious and carries pretty much whatever film/gear youβre looking for. Easy to spot location with metered parking along Falls Road.
Great selection, awesome service (see Abe), and well adhering to COVID-19 standards. Street parking is convenient.
Staff is very helpful and knowledgeable. And I might add, doing their best to interact and take care of customers while still being covid conscios.
They have what I need and they treat me well. I am grateful they are still providing Service to area Photographers. For this reason, I buy my cameras from them. I can save a few dollars mail order. However, I do not get service through mail order. I would much rather support those who support me.
First time there. Kate Sage was very helpful and helped me find good used camera to replace the one I have used for over 5 years. One of few places which carries rolls of film.
Excellent food and customer service.
Got offered a price half what the retail price was for my camera lense (brand new still in box) and was payed with a check which is very hard for me to cash because I donβt have a bank account and Iβm a minor with only a school ID for verification.
Parked in front of store. Everyone was very helpful and knowledgeable. Have a lot of things on hand to use right away.
Iβm new to film and photography and this was my first time at Service Photo.I was helped by Josh.He was very friendly and eager to teach me things about my camera and which memory cards were best to achieve my goals. My experience in the store was how every shopping experience should be.Props to Service Photo for making a great hire. Thanks, Josh, for the help.Iβll definitely be back.
Customer service was great! They greeted me with a minute of walking in a very busy store. They helped setup my camera and recommended some lenses. Will definitely be back.
Great selection of camera-related items. These guys will do everything they can to help you find the best equipment for your needs. They also have a great selection of used equipment. I have sold them a few items, and they have given me a fair price for them. I also have rented from them several times & Im lucky to have this service so close to me!
This was just the kind of store I had been looking for! The staff was extremely knowledgable and took their time to help me understand everything I needed to know about the equipment I was buying. I also love that fact that they were able to service my camera while I waited.
They are so helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend. Jonathan is fantastic and took his time with all my questions.
Hard to find real camera shops like this one. They know their stuff and their prices are reasonable.
We went in for a rental and we spoke with Jack. He was very friendly and knowledgeable. This was our first time here and definitely will be returning soon.
Went to Service Photo Supply to purchase a strap and filters for my Nikon camera. Maureen and Kiersten were very helpful. I purchased two filters and Kiersten properly attached the strap. I will visit this store again.
Always helpful, surprisingly full selection either New or Previously Owned. I look forward to every visit. Experienced Knowledgeable Staff, Competitively priced as well. They have earned our business for many reasons. Bodies, Lenses, Lighting (Studio and Portable) etc, its all here.
First experience with this company while visiting from NYC, and I must say the pretentiousness of a few employees were utterly grotesque - the short, old woman even took the liberty of capturing my photo as I exited the store. She prohibited her fellow colleagues to not βmess with himβ, and went further with her unprofessionalism by using profanity because I asked for a receipt with my purchase. However, (2) Stars because I was assisted very well by another lady, and an older gentleman; the stars are for those two. I do appreciate the folks that kept their exemplary patience by making sure I left with my questions answered. I hope this helps future patrons because Service Photo needs to acknowledge that a few of their employees are highly passive aggressive, and needs to exonerate such behavior.
Went there for the first time today and I was nothing but amazed by the number of resources there. Friendly and helpful staff and I love that they offer the rental option at a reasonable price. Highly recommend this place for any camera and supply needs
I cant say enough wonderful things about Service Photo. They have to be the only camera shop left in Maryland and theres a reason why: theyre the best in customer service. Theyre knowledgeable and extremely helpful. Highly recommended!
Wow. What a great group of employees. These guys are great. Very professional and for the amateur like myself they make you feel right at home and dont talk down to you. They will give you great advice. I traveled from pa to go to there store. From the time I walked in till I went out the door everyone was outstanding and will make your experience very pleasant. I was extremely happy with there knowledge and experience. I would rate more stars if I could. Worth the travel I WILL DEFINITELY RETURN.
Top pro photog shop. Great service and advice. Poster child for a family run business that successfully pivoted to a new value proposition in the new e-conomy.
I am so thankful that there are still a few real camera stores in business. Kate, the sales person who assisted me with a purchase of a new camera, was very helpful and had excellent knowledge of her products. There were no high pressure sales tactics here. Interestingly they honor gift certificates from their competitors (B&H, Adoroma, Amazon, Best Buy).
My favorite camera store Iβve spent a lot of money here (all well spent). The staff here is the best very friendly, helpful and full of good advice.
These guys know their craft
The service is outstanding. I have had several issues with used Nikon equipment under MAC warranty that they handled for me completely without any charges. The answer to any question is just a phone call away. Yes, the NY big box stores may be a little cheaper, primarily the sales tax, but the service provided is well worth the additional cost.
I have dealt with Service Photo for over 40 years. They are very well respected in the Baltimore area. The people are knowledgeable and go out of their way to assist you! Burke Seims the owner is carrying on in his fathers shoes and doing a fantastic job!
There arent many camera supply stores left in the area, and trying to get any serious gear from an electronics gear is a joke. I purchased a used telephoto lens with a scratch filter for under $250, and it works just like new. If you want the quality and inventory of B&H but want to see your equipment in person, Service is the store youre looking for. Definitely the best in Baltimore, maybe even Maryland.
Happy with my purchase, and the attention, service I received.
Service is a great place to go and a very important resource for photographers and even videographers in our region. The staff is informed and competent and helps guide you to the right choice based on your needs and abilities. I particularly like their selection of used equipment. My last big transaction there was buying a new Nikon body. I was able to trade.my.prior body and its kit lens. The whole transaction was done quickly and efficiently, and I was out photographing in about 15 minutes. I visit periodically just to see if there.is something new I didnt realize I needed.
They show a lot of patience, the store is loaded with equipment and your questions are answered without being rushed. I picked out a camer s and a few days later decided I didnt feel it was for me, so I went back and had no problem picking out another one. I have brought other equipment there and have always been satisfied, I recommend them highly!
I recently sold large lot of vintage photography equipment and I couldnt be happier with my experience. From the employees to the owner, I felt everyone went above and beyond during the entire process. The owner, in particular (Burke Seim), was wonderful to work with. He was extremely responsive, very knowledgeable, and made the entire process seamless. Hes also just a good guy who knows his photography equipment. The store also has a wonderful inventory of camera gear. I cant recommend Service Photo enough, and I will be sure to give them future business for my photography needs.
Great service. Very knowledgable about lens i was looking for. Had in stock and shjpped it same day. Also gave tips on other camera options. Great to deal with..customer service means alot and they have that 100%
Ive been doing business with Service Photo since 1972 when they were on Greenmount Ave. Ive never dealt with a better bunch of people from Burke, the current owner, to his dad, Bill and his grandfather. This store is a Baltimore landmark. Whether youre an old professional or a novice, they will give you the facts on how to get the most out of your camera and beat the New York prices. If youre going to make a big investment in photography why not buy it from a dealer you can talk to, ask questions and feel appreciated. The only thing to remember its not just the camera that takes great photographs, its the photographer.
I have not touched a camera in 10 years, so as you can imagine things have changed quite a bit. This place was recommended by a professional photographer. It was probably the best customer service experience I have ever had and they were very reasonable. The prices are great and I even picked up some used equipment. I will not go anywhere else for anything photo related....Service Photo is awesome!
While I did not purchase anything on my visit, the sales associate was extremely helpful and knowledgeable of their inventory. From this experience, I was able to decide which mirrorless camera best suited my needs and liking. I definitely plan on visiting again in the near future.
Google is asking me again about Service Photo...if you need camera gear...go to Service!Support your local shops.
