We visited the Military Base on Saturday and found Marine troops performing company drills. Additionally while at the Marine museum one of the training companys drill instructor brought a platoon of troops to the museum. It appeared that the purpose of that visit was to teach the troop some history about the development of the Marine corps. I was truly impressed. I served in the Army during the Vietnam war. I think that having the museum there on base and teaching the history of the marines in the US is significant. Hats off to the Corp
Very nice and interesting. It was a good way to spend time with our marine during family day.
Awesome museum showing the history and how Marines are made. Definitely need to visit when on base.
Such a nice place to visit with your new Marine. So much meaning behind everything there. Also loved the gift shop, we had to buy coins and some clothes! Love supporting USMC. Staff was helpful and nice too!
What a testament to the most elite fighting force this country or the world has ever seen! Incredible artifacts of our military history in one beautiful location. An absolute must see and lifes bucket list item for anyone who loves the military and the United States of America!!
In January 2008 my Daughter graduated from basic training in the United States Marine Corps. We met her on family day, the day before graduation. We had not seen her since she joined the Marine Corps. What a joyful reunion. She said she never realized how great it felt to complete something! She then took us to this museum. The museum displayed the history and traditions of the United States Marine Corps. It is well worth the time it took to visit it!
I graduated from PI in September 1975. Finally made it back there in 2010. My barracks were still there. No way the Corps is going to tear down a brick building. I was in from 1975-1984. Wish I could have stayed in and retired. My wife was with me on my 2010 visit. I guess you really can not appreciate it unless you lived through boot camp. I loved it. If you graduated and have not been back, try to make the trip. Memories are great. Semper fi.
I came through Parris Island and stood on the yellow footprints nearly 30 years ago and got to bring my 15 year old son through today. It was a prideful moment for me to watch the amount of attention he paid to a museum. There is a lot of history displayed within the walls here and it is clear theyve taken the time to display it with honor.
Great place to visit a must see on your visit to Parris Island! History of the Marine Corps and uniform and weapon examples. Really educational to this family of a US Marine.
Nice museum with a lot of interesting artifacts from marine history. Make sure to have your new Marine give you a tour if you are on the island for graduation.
Really nice place with so much information. Even my wife enjoyed it!
This little museum packed a lot oh history in one place. Staff of volunteers were very knowledgeable. Nice gift shop too.
Awesome visit! Learned a lot. Organized and clean! Our Marine even enhanced the tour with personal commentary!
Its too bad that this isnt located for the general public to visit. A lot of good local history for the Marine Corps, Base, and local area town.
I really wanted my kids and Navy husband to see where I went to boot camp, 28 years ago next month (Sept 93). They were very impressed with the museum. Even 13 year old daughter!
Excellent experience. Loved to see knowledge of Parris Island and the History of the Marine Corp
What a great experience and to learn about Parris Island and the US Marine Corps. Highly recommend the Parris Island Museum.
Its not the favorite place for my kids, but being able to see this is amazing
As an Air Force Retiree (E-8) We were blown away by the displays you had. The movie outlining boot camp was great. USAF boot camp was not as intense(at least in 1968). Kudos 🇺🇲🇺🇲
Superb collection of pastime artifacts and education. Enjoyable.
A cool little museum on base that my best friend got to show me around
The PI museum is a Awesome place to go when you are in for a Graduation.
Being on PI and seeing my son graduate on a beautiful sunny day - well, sweating sunblock into my eye made me look like I was crying. The history of the Corps is so much bigger than any of us. The museum was great and seeing how much it all means to my boy is priceless.
Love this place, its awesome and very intreasting to go to and learn about the history, and some things are interactive.
Beautifully done and rich in history. Semper Fi
If you love history then this is a must stop.
Smaller, but very well done and a great 1-2 hour tour, a must do while at PI.
The history is fantastic, and understanding the sacrifice that these men and women made is something that I couldnt do. My son is among that number and Ive never been more proud of him.
History of the Parris Island area from aboriginal peoples to present as well as USMC history 1795-present day. Even saw six companies of recruits practicing for graduation. See next post.
Since, it was crowded my husband and I did not stay longer, But, the organizational was well organized. The volunteers were helpful.
Nicely done, not to long but a place you must see on the island.
Amazing museum. Fantastic history and exhibits detailing the United States Marine Corp. 🇺🇸
Well organized, gives you a clear idea of what your marine goes through.
I loved the history of Paris Island and the marines it self. It showed how the marines came about and how the women became part of the military when it was a all male branch i loved it
Very cool! Love the history!
One word, AWESOME!!!! It was great being able to show my wife and son all about Parris Island and its truly wonderful and amazing history of making Marines!!!
I was told I had to have a sponsor to get on base to see the museum. Very disappointing not being able to see this Museum. The Museum called me and explained why it is currently closed to the public. I totally understand. I will be coming back to Beaufort in the near future and will look forward going to this Museum. My sincere thanks to the USMC.
Very cool. Go if you like history!
Very nice place. Got there late, so I needed more time. What I saw was great.
I passed through Parris Island from July to October of 1995. 1st Battalion, Delta Co., Platoon 1020. My father trained here too, back in Dec 1967 to March of 1968. He was 3rd Battalion. I wanted to come here and show my daughter the Island. I wanted to see the base museum for the first time. Cool thing was, we shared the museum with recruits turning Marine, as they had a day to see the Marine history on the Island. We had both men and women from 1st and 4th Battalion in there, DIs and all. My daughter thought that was pretty cool. DIs, up close and personal. The museum is great and worth the visit. We spent about 2 hours there. Getting on base was easy. They just ran my state ID. I didnt have a VA ID card, which would have made the process quicker to get on. Overall, the day trip, up from Jacksonville, FL, was worth it. Semper Fi.
Everyone young and old should experience the history in this museum and the heroes of this country.
Very well kept, and very fun and informative.

They ran out of chicken and went they served us was cold horrible experience will never go back
Really nice displays and gift shop
Great museum. Worth the visit.
Very interesting and cool information of the Marines throughout the years.
Set up well. Very I formationnformative. Wish staff controlled traffic of visitors. It was an oppressively hot day in Parris Island and most of the visitors were just trying to escape the heat and not absorb the wonderful I formation it had to share.
Very educational and interesting. Well done.
Very beautiful and nice place to visit
Awesome to walk through with my new Marine!
This museum is located on Parris Island Marine Corps Recruit Depot. Getting to the museum is a nice trip down memory lane for the few! The museum itself has 2 floors of information and artifacts about the history of the island before it became the training center, the beginnings of training Marines in 1915, as well as the current training methods.
Awesome look into history
Not much to see but it was fun
Great, too see history
This gave me chills, and brought back memories good and bad. All in all very well, put together. SEMPER FI .
This museum is very detailed and much more than I expected. Plan to spend a lot of time here so you can really experience and appreciate the whole thing.

Small but packed with history. If you are on the island this is a place you dont want to miss.
