Awesome place! We decided last minute for a end of season trip to Yellowstone. We didnt want to stay in a hotel and were thinking man, if only we could rent camping gear. Boom this place pops up on my feed.They literally had everything that you need. Tent, cot, sleeping bags, chairs, pillow, cooking utensils, water, buddy heater ect.They were extremely prompt. I landed at 10am. Scheduled my pick up for 10:30am. When I got to the building, they had everything ready for me next to the door. Signed my signature and packed everything into my car in less than 5 mins.

Rented a suburban with the sleep set up, great vehicle and really appreciated being able to sleep on a nice thick pad instead of in a tent. Also rented other camping equipment… Loved a few of the items enough that I will be buying my own when we get back home. We had one hiccup, with the camping stove, and the Explore team remedied the situation quickly and to complete satisfaction. A huge thank you for making my trip to Glacier and Yellowstone more comfortable!

Great folks! They were super accommodating when I needed to book a rental super last minute. They were never rude and the car was incredible! If you are exploring the Bozeman/Yellowstone area, this is the place to get your rental car!! Cant thank them enough!

Explore Rentals (Montana based) was the only company that was available to secure a rental despite our booking was in late May for a July trip to Yellowstone but they were 5-star since Day1. Online reservation was smooth, spoke to the owner directly to confirm the place was legit. The rental pick-up (office) is situated just a 5 min Uber ride from Bozeman airport. There was constant communication throughout including sharing clear instructions plus pics of the rental (Subaru Outback). The car was new, decent mileage - except for a faulty Tire Pressure indicator, the ride was a breeze. They even offered an easy rental drop-off right in-front of the departures terminal. Will definitely recommend Explore Rentals over any national level players and will use them again in our next visit.

All of the staff at Explore Rentals were incredibly accommodating and easy to contact! My husband and I rented a Subaru Outback in the Bozeman area for a week. It was in perfect condition and the pickup/drop off processes were so quick. Very highly recommend these guys!

Great rental company. Easy pickup and you can drop it off on the airport on your flight out after hours for a menial fee. Tons of equipment available for rental too. Four wheel drives are basically a requirement for driving in the Rockies in any sort of bad weather, so these vehicles are perfect for that.

Great vehicle (we had Tatanka) and perfect customer service. Bryce, Robin and Anna were all helpful and super responsive. After this week I know I will spend more time in this beautiful part of the world and I will always go to Explore for my rentals.

This is one of the best rental car I ever had. I visited Yellowstone in this winter. Subaru Outback I rented was all equipped to handle harsh winter storms in yellowstone. Car did not skid once or had any issues. Staff is very friendly and provided contactless pickup and delivery. Bryan is awesome. I highly recommend if you visiting Yellowstone in winter, explore rentals is the one you can put your trust on.

This was I believe the 4th or 3rd year out of the past 5 that I rented a Subaru at Explore Rentals for our annual backpacking trip in Yellowstone. I have rented many cars many places around the world. This is my favorite of all!!The staff is nice, fair and honest. The cars are good. We rented with Explore Rentals in January, and were so glad we did. The entire contactless experience was very easy and the SUV we rented was spotless. It definitely helped us maneuver through the mountains in the winter, as Floridians with little experience driving through snow and ice. If and when we return to Bozeman, we will rent with Explore again.

A buddy of mine and I were on a 7 day road trip through Montana and Wyoming when my Jeep started to have computer issues in Bozeman. Not sure what to do, we decided to rent a vehicle to continue on so we showed up on a Sunday morning, not sure what to expect. Not only did they have a Subaru Outback for us to use, the price was great and they were very friendly and accommodating, they even let us park the Jeep there while we continued on. The car was stellar and I was so impressed with its capabilitys I bought a new one when we got back into town. Highly recommend them, not your usual rental outfit for sure! A+ all around!

Great alternative to the chain rental companies. Supporting a local business is always a positive.. Have new and older model suburbans for your vehicle needs and will be less than the chains. Drop off and pick up is super easy.. They rent coolers, camping equipment, fishing equipment and bear spray if you need it.

We rented a 2016 Outback along with a cooler and spotting scope in December 2020. The 4WD was excellent on the snow-covered roads. We only rented the spotting scope for 2 days, while we rented the car and cooler for a week. This worked out great.The cooler was high grade and kept our food cool (and didnt freeze in the 15 degree temperatures). The service was excellent--very personable and efficient. We were contacted prior to our rental to sign all documents online. Unfortunately during our visit to Boseman, someone hit our rear bumper while we were parked in a parking lot (we were not in the car, but saw the incident happen). Only mild damage was done--no indention; but the damage required a little buffing. We immediately fully disclosed what happened to Explore. The initial estimate for the bumper damage was $500 (which we were prepared to pay). A day after we received the estimate Explore called us --they decided that there would be no charge for the buffing to the bumper--we were pleasantly surprised (understatement). They are a company of extreme integrity. We highly recommend them. If we return to Boseman, we will be using them again.

Explore Rentals was amazing. We had a crew of 9 with ski/board equipment for each plus regular luggage and fit comfortably in JAWS, a 4x4 Sprinter van. We even had room to swing by and pick up groceries and supplies for a weekend up at Big Sky. The van was easy to drive and handle and on the way home we had ~4-5” of new snow and we had zero issues. The blizzak tires were amazing. This was a great decision to go with Explore Rentals and helped make our trip better.They were very easy to work with, easy to shop different options, and are also conveniently located near the airport. I placed a reservation a couple weeks ago for my upcoming Nov. 11th Yellowstone day trip and the process was super easy. Will and the guy at the counter gave me some good tips and showed me a map of the area that I will be driving through in Yellowstone (as I have never been through the Lamar Valley area of the park). I have always gotten top notch customer service from everyone at Explore rentals and will keep coming back anytime I need to rent a vehicle.My family has rented from these guys for several years. We have rented the big suburbans for our yearly family vacation and have always been impressed with the condition of the vehicles and the high level of customer service we have always received.I will update this more with a couple of pictures after my trip.

I recently rented the Camp Chef Pro stove. It worked great for a week of meals for 7 hungry guys in a cabin that had no kitchen. Highly recommended!

After this rental experience, not sure I will ever go back to the giant-chain rental car places. The service was amazing, our Subaru allowed us to get to some serious back-country cabins (sorry for the mud... I wasnt sure if we should clean it before we returned it) and it was so convenient to be able to borrow the gear we didnt want to fly in with us. We hope to come back and upgrade to a Tacoma!

On my last trip I used Phasmid for everything - all my gear and accessories I needed from fly rods and waders to my transport. So much easier to organize and put together and the gear was better than mine!The rental car was immaculate. A clean, very well maintained top model Suburban. It drove and handled the muddy roads in the Montana back country with top confidence. I never had a doubt in it or questioned it like Ive had with other rentals around the country, even when renting from the big-name guys. And trust me, when youre in freezing weather and 100 miles from the next person, you have to have good, reliable wheels!And Will (the owner) was a great resource. We got the entire trip laid out before I left the office based on what country I wanted to see, what I wanted to catch, and how I like to fish. He was super helpful in directing us to great productive spots and good camping country. Truly a one-stop-shop for the Montana experience with no extra work or research needed on my part. What a nice group of people to do business with! And if youre going to Yellowstone at the beginning or the end of the summer season, bear in mind (pardon the pun) that youll likely see snow. An AWD Subaru with snow tires from Explore can really come in handy, compared to a generic car from Hertz or Avis.

This is the best place to rent equipment to go to Yellowstone. The people are great with personable and friendly service.When walked in they knew us by name and lead us to our vehicle with all the equipment already inside.The suburban we rent was very well equipped all of the bells and whistles you would expect.

Rented an off-road version of the Mercedees-Benz Sprinter van for Yellowstone and Grand Teton. Plenty of seating for 8 people and lots of gear, with a generous mileage allowance. Also had convenient rentals for coolers and bear mace. Great for tourists/travelers who are having to fly into the area.

Easy, so easy. Personal pick up at the luggage carousel! They even put snow tires on the car for me since it was snowing. The easiest car rental I have ever encountered. The Subaru was clean and had low mileage. The wipers worked great and I felt safe driving around on the snow covered roads. I wish there were more car rental companies like this around.

I had the pleasure of renting from Phasmid in August while traveling with my mother who was in failing health and her last request was to see Yellowstone. I read online reviews and decided to support a small business instead of dealing with a corporate car rental company . I could not be more thrilled that I did. Everyone at Phasmid went out of their way to make our trip go seamlessly. They worked with me when my flight was 7 hours late arriving and again when I had to drive back to NC instead of flying back due to a rapid decline in my mothers health. Sam at Phasmid was so sweet, when we took the car back he not only helped us unload the car, he made a ramp out of plywood just to make it less bumpy to take my mom inside to use the restroom. I could have gone over the threshold but he wouldnt allow it. When we were ready to start our drive home he made sure we had cold water to take with us for the long drive. Its the little things that make a difference and they sure know that. Not only are their rates great, but you are guaranteed a specific car, you cant get that or the personal service with these big corporations. I will definitely use them again when we go back.

I just had a wonderful experience with Phasmid Rentals. Weve rented cars from Phasmid for the last 2yrs and what a refreshing experience compared to the bigger rental car companies. The owner picked us up from the airport and returned us after we dropped the car off. We rented a 2014 Subaru Outback with only 10k miles on it. It was practically brand new. Phasmid also had all the other gear we needed for our trip, but didnt want to travel with, like coolers, bear spray and tents. Will, the owner of Phasmid, was super helpful and even told us about a great lunch spot on our way out of town. We will be back to Bozeman and we will rent again from Phasmid!

Awesome place! Called the same day I needed a car top carrier (for over a weekend) and no problem. I stopped by on my lunch hour and was ready to roll in minutes. On my roadtrip I had car trouble which delayed me by a day and the fellow was super understanding and didnt even plan on charging me for the extra day due to the circumstances. Great business and will definitely call them first next time I need anything!

Rented a subie for our 6 day vacation in the area. Staff behind the counters were friendly and the car was in good shape and very clean when we picked it up. The price wasnt too high either. We would rent from them again when we come back to the area in the future

Excellent customer service and equipment. Rented a sleeping bag and camping stove set for a week at Yellowstone. All gear was in excellent condition, the stove set came with all the extras (salt,pepper, dishwashing stuff). They have an after hours drop off which enabled us to spend more time looking for wildlife ! Would highly recommend!

This place is awesome. Super nice folks running it, and a whole shelf of free stuff that others didnt use. Got 2 cans of stove fuel, fire starter and couple cans of coke for free. Well be back here for sure.

Super clean Suby Outback, I was treated like an actual person (not a number) by someone with a brain, didnt have to deal with the BZN airport hassle, price was better than anyone else around- including the other off-airport agencies- for a way better vehicle (who wants to drive a Chevy Malibu or Corolla in Montana?). Awesome, cant recommend Phasmid high enough.

We had the absolute best experience using Phasmid Rentals. First family trip to Big Sky country and we had a wonderful time Laura picked us up at the airport and we went back to rental office for paper work. She gave the kids stickers, gave us directions and referrals for where to go and shop. She also gave us maps and visitor information. My son left his ball cap under the seat and she is mailing it back to us. When we return to Bozeman we will be renting from these guys!!! Top notch people!! Top notch service!!

Rented a 2014 Chevy Suburban from Explore Rentals based on the great google reviews (and the poor reviews for the airport rental companies). This came at a much lower weekly cost compared to all the big name rental companies, the car was in great shape even though it has 90000 miles on it. Laura came to pick us up at the airport, she was very friendly and helpful and answered all our questions patiently. At the Explore Rentals office, she even provided us with maps of the area, advice on where to visit and how long it would take as well as a pair of USB cigarette lighter chargers for our devices and a pair of binoculars, absolutely free. The binoculars in particular were a great addition, we used it for bird and wildlife spotting throughout the park. I drove the Chevy all the way down to Teton Village in Grand Teton National Park, it handled every terrain with ease. It was surprisingly good with gas mileage as well. Would rent from them again 10/10!

Ill make this simple and then you can go into the details if you wish:You are an idiot if you dont rent from these guys when you come to Bozeman if your wish is to drive a capable AWD/4x4 vehicle, especially during the ski season.We just finished 8 days in Big Sky. I was amazed that NONE of the retail car rental agencies could guarantee an AWD or 4x4 vehicle. I called several (oddly enough, the same guy answered multiple rental desks) and was confirmed that they could not promise anything at the time of booking. You had to show up and hope they had something. Even booking a Ford F-150 could not guarantee a 4x4. When you are having to drive over an hour to a ski resort on roads that are often really bad, you really dont want to mess with this. Luckily I found Explore Rental. I had never driven a Subaru Outback, but I knew they had a reputation of the best AWD snow vehicle available. Explore has a lot of them. The reputation for the car is well deserved. The Subaru that Explore rented me with snow tires felt as thought it was on rails the entire time. Most of our driving was on snow. This is definitely the car you want if you have 4 people.The customer service was amazing. They actually delivered the car to the hotel we were staying at the night before we were slated to rent the car. This made getting on the way to the slopes a lot sooner than we thought, and we were actually able to add a half day of skiing to our trip. The car was extremely clean and as described.When many reviews of other car rental agencies are not good, take note of the extremely high rating this place has.

Everything about Phasmids service is OUTSTANDING! The pick-up, the rental, and especially the advice. I would have missed some of the best parts of my 11 days in Montana had it not been for Will Casellas fantastic advice and recommendations. Even if you dont need a car, you should rent one from Phasmid just to meet the great staff and get some tips from Will.

Awful experience.When we returned the car, your employee or whoever that was never found any damage or said that there might be a damage at all. I asked her specifically if there was any problem with the vehicle and she said everything was fine. Therefore, the damage claimed by you after 2 days was questionable. When I called you up, you said that there was language gap...blablabla.... so you must charge me with whatever you said. Anyway, I suggest foreigners think more before renting a car with a local questionable car rental. I regret that I did not go to Hertz.Again, AWFUL EXPERIENCE.

We flew into Bozeman early on Christmas and left on New Years. The team delivered the car to the airport so it was ready when we arrived. We had a suburban, lightly used, very comfortable and with lots of room. We had 5 adults with all of our ski gear and luggage and fit just fine. We would highly recommend Phasmid in the future to anyone going to Bozeman or Big Sky.

Their Leica scope is top of the line meaning better reach, better contrast, better clarity, better everything. Do NOT hesitate to add this to your rental.
