When my father became ill, it became apparent to us that we would need a vehicle that was both easy to park and comfortable for tall people.It was a no-brainer to choose the Subaru Forester. The comfortable seat height plus the leg and head room made it an easy decision. When I approached John E. and told him I wanted a base model, he pointed out the range of models available, but did not try to hard sell a fancier model. He couldnt have been nicer! Combined with the professional and personable staff at Dewey Griffin, we were able to purchase a base model Forester without any problems. Sadly, my father is gone now, but you should have seen him smile when he first saw that new Forester!Thank you, Dewey Griffin, and John E., for helping me find a vehicle to transport my father.

My boyfriend and I went to Dewey Griffin Subaru in search of my first car. Prior to this I had never owned anything newer than a 1997. Our two stipulations were that it be AWD and it fit our huge dogs. We went in thinking I was just going to look and test drive, but Justin showed us a Subaru outback and we were sold. After exploring vehicle and dealership options elsewhere; Brian was a breath of fresh air. He was straightforward, experienced, knowledgeable, and friendly. He was able to coordinate communication etc between two buyers (my father and I), in different locations, with ease. Lori from finance was also great to work with; Being efficient, accurate, and also very friendly/enjoyable. I couldnt recommend the dealership enough, and of course my new Subaru Outback is/has been amazing; Wow - It does it all relative to my transportation needs.

By far the best car buying experience I’ve ever had! All of the staff I interacted with were truly so helpful, kind and not at all like the typical “car salesman” style. They’re not there to haggle you or pressure you. I’ve never felt so comfortable purchasing a car. I can’t say enough good things! Of course I absolutely love my Subaru Outback as well! I will DEFINITELY be purchasing my future cars from them and recommend them to anyone who’s looking to purchase a car!

We were traveling to Birch Bay, Washington when our hatch door became stuck and couldn’t get it open. I called a dealership in Seattle and they said they were short handed and it will take several hours before someone could look at it. So I called the Subaru dealership in Bellingham and Carla, the front desk service attendant, told us what to do over the phone and in less than 30 seconds, our hatch door opened. Due to her expertise, we continued on our way without a problem. Thank you again for being so friendly and efficient. We will forever have a positive memory of our trip.

We brought our 2014 Forester here for an oil change. We both work outside of their service hours so we did a night drop. On the night drop sheet we asked for an oil change and noted that we did not need a call for authorization for an oil change.I called to pay for the service and to request an after hours pick up, and was told the cost was $105.xx (higher than I was expecting since I was told a synthetic oil change was $73.95). I asked if this was just for the oil change and was told yes by a service person named Bob. I then asked to apply the $5 off Valpak coupon and was reminded of the $73.95 oil change price which is written on it. I asked why the stated oil change price didnt match my bill and was finally told there was also a $20 charge for a tire rotation. I didnt ask for a tire rotation and my tire store had just performed this service for free (now my tires have effectively been un-rotated).I asked if I could apply a second $5 off Valpak coupon for the tire rotation, but was told I could not apply both (even though it says valid with other Valpak offers right on it). The conversation was hurried to end before I could contest the charge any further.Its not much money, but Im annoyed that it seems like they are trying to sneak that extra service and cost in. Apparently you need to ask for an oil change without a tire rotation if you do not want that to automatically happen.

I called looking for a specific Forester which was already sold. Kevin stayed on the line while searching the database and found that the exact model will be at my local dealer in August (the local dealer did not offer to search for the car). He then welcomed me to the Subaru family. I am about four hours away from Bellingham and I am not buying a car from Kevin. If this is an example of the customer service and satisfaction Kevin strives to attain while on a cold-call, I imagine that buying a car from him in person would be a very positive experience. If you are planning to visit this dealer, find Kevin!

Class act car dealer. Our 2nd car purchase from Dewey. Vehicle quality on used cars, customer service, professionalism from sales staff and even the finance team is the best you can find. No pressure and no BS. I really feel like they not only care about me as a customer but they care about the cars they offer for sale and what happens after it’s yours.We went the next weekend to buy another car in a different brand and looked in two towns. Extremely disappointed and ultimately didn’t buy a vehicle because Dewey showed us what car buying should be like. I very much respect your effort to do what’s right and know the value of taking Care of people because you can. I work the same way and am often disappointed with my experiences in customer service. Being a manager of both a local and reputable shop; the treatment I have received from upper management of this establishment has been appalling. This has been the worst experience from start to finish with a certain group of people.I dealt with Paul as my salesperson, who was phenomenal. Then to sign papers I dealt with a gentleman named Guy- who to my knowledge was a straight shooter- he advised me of purchasing the extended warranty, to which I accepted. I had a couple of minor things go on and they took care of me on them. Great.Six months later I’m having major engine problems. I take the car to the lot and within 24 hours David (my service advisor) called me and warned me of how extensive of a bill this was going to be. I politely reminded him of the warranty I had purchased and he told me that he would look into that and see what he could do.Roughly another 24-48 hours goes by and David once again reaches out and informs me that the warranty that Dewey Griffen sold me will cover nothing on the vehicle, due to aftermarket parts that were installed before I had ever purchased the car.David’s communication skills are above and beyond, and whoever does pay roll over there needs to bump his wages before he realizes how good he actually is.So the warranty is a waste of time and money, and Dewey Griffen instead of doing the stand up thing, and trying to work with the client, tells me to pack sand or pay 80% of retail for the repairs. And “they will cover the rest.”The people whom I have worked with and have excellent Report with are: David in service, and Happy in sales.Brian the service manager has been the least helpful in my experience.I cannot in good conscious recommend this dealership to anyone looking for a new-certified preowned- or used vehicle. Take your business elsewhere.

I HIGHLY recommend the team here! Will(sales) sold me the exact car I was looking for(which was kind of luck), but he made it very easy, stress free and wasnt pushy at all. I am kind of young, and had been written off by other dealers in the area, but not here. They treated me with respect, just like they would any other customer.The car then turned out to have an issue with the motor mount, which I didnt find and bring it in for until about a month and a half after buying the car. The replaced it in the most efficient way I had ever seen from a dealership, and it was complementary. The service advisor, Kyle, was amazing, he also made the whole experience very stress free, which is unbelievable for car issues.

This place blew my expectations out of the water. Will Glazier and Guy Morris were two of the most genuine people I have dealt with in terms of any business transaction, period. Fair pricing, upfront with expectations, and as about as transparent as it gets in this line of work. I did not feel like I had to haggle all day and make it a grueling experience.Of course I love my Subaru, but this review isnt about that. Will Glazier goes above and beyond for his customers. The main takeaway if you work with Will: LET HIM SHOW YOU THE INITIAL TEST DRIVE! If youre like me and havent kept up with the latest and greatest with more modern vehicles, he does a very good job at showing you cool features in the car that could be regularly used.I know when my wifes lease is up for renewal we are definitely coming back!

Folks were all very kind, worked quickly to get me the car I wanted and didn’t waste my time with other dealership style games like flashing brake lights and other undocumented mark ups. I always get my maintenance done at this place despite the distance (I come from Vancouver Canada) because of their fast and honest service. They don’t try to up sell you unnecessary parts or service. Moreover most of the time you don’t need an appointment for basic service. They also have a nice and spacious waiting area.

I had given up the search in frustration with dealers near me, but sent an email with a simple question late on a Friday evening. Very early Saturday I had a reply, and within 90 minutes a deal was closed. It would have gone even faster, but for a request concerning my trade-in that took some time to run down. Three hours later I arrived in Bellingham and took delivery of my new vehicle swiftly and easily. Gage Daniels was incredibly helpful and patient throughout the entire buying process. We went back and forth on e-mail due to my incessant questioning and he was always quick to respond and went above and beyond to get the information I asked for. When it came time to go into the dealership, Gage had everything ready when I walked in the door and the transitions between staff members to complete my paperwork/financing were seamless.The dealership itself has a large open lobby with plenty of space for social distancing. I saw the specific 2021 Crosstrek in the color I wanted on the website. I called them to ensure it was there since I was going to be driving from down south for it. They didnt have it right then, but called me back as soon as it was available. From the second I walked into the shop, I knew this was going to be different from every car buying experience Ive ever had. Will was friendly, upbeat and hilarious and put me at ease, without making me feel like I was being taken advantage of. You could tell this team of people really cares about their job and doing whats right by the customer. Will helped me find the best trade value for my car (and caught a feature or two I had overlooked) and was up-front and honest at every step of the way. I was able to get a fair trade value for my vehicle and take home the car of my dreams. No support for the brand. Avoid. Sales person(Tony) lied and pressured my 78 year old mother(and to me, her son)on a new car purchase. The dealer south of Bellingham vastly out bid them (on invoice and on trade). Something the salesperson at Dewey Griffin said could not be done. They have consistently refused any and all warranty work on her 2011 Outback (current trade in). To which Ive had to call Subaru of America to complain to get them to address basics(failing cvt torque converter, common issue). Not supporting the warranty and brand is great if the car does not need it, but ours does constantly at 53k(fuel pump, drive train mounts, cvt trans, inner tie rod ends, etc.....). They over fill the oil on changes, and dont use the factory recommended full synthetic which makes the car run exceedingly rough with poor mpg. Id like to write something more positive, but their behavior(constant warranty denial) over multiple years (2011 to current) is mildly frustrating to say the least. Weve not had anywhere near this experience with the German cars weve had.In response to the owner, lucky for you, I copied all the records and correspondence in relation to the old 2011 Outback. It certainly did go to your dealer for oil services and denied warranty(letter dated July 17th 2015). It does not surprise me you have no idea what is going on. Your either ignorant, in denial, or obfuscating, neither of which is terribly appealing. You can see the current service sticker and in typical fashion, the car came back over filled with oil and under inflated tires(under 30psi). The cabin filter(see pic with debris) was never checked or changed(supposed to per schedule). Would you want your 80 year old mother(compromised) breathing air from this? Air filter left filthy. Pretty tough checking these, which took all of 60 seconds to change. This is how a car leaves your dealership after an oil service?After replacing the garbage oil you use (synthetic blend, not full synthetic) and setting it to the proper level (per manual), it runs smooth and quiet. Funny about that.Instead of vilifying your customers, why not actually properly service the car and address the repair/warranty issues with them?In response to the service manager, Mr Carlson, I have pictures and documentation on both my Mothers cars, and for good reason. Here is what the plugs(under warranty/contract) looked like after visiting your dealer for service. It is no wonder the car could not idle properly(over filled oil and burnt/shot spark plugs). One would think after the horrid experience(complete denial of warranty, bad service, etc..) with her Outback, you guys might treat her better after purchasing another car from your dealership! Please change your practices and support your customers. My Mothers old Outback was taken in on trade by your dealership and resold by your dealer! I find it interesting you have no idea whats going on.Regards

I purchased my first new car from Dewey Griffon, and I could not be more satisfied. I left the dealership feeling like there is likely no better dealership out there, or if there was they are among elite company. I had the pleasure of working with Will Glazier, who made the experience extremely easy and smooth. As a first time buyer I was quite nervous coming to a dealership because of all of the nightmare stories I had read and heard of, but Will made me feel as though I was a real person not just a fool to make tons of money off of. He was extremely helpful in helping me understand the benefits of the car I was interested in through great explanations and was a great resource for me to ask all kind of questions to. He is definitely someone I would recommend seeking out if youre in the market for a subaru or any car on Deweys lot. I cant imagine there are many people out there who will be as patient, genuine, and helpful as Will. Once I went back to discuss payment, I was introduced to Guy, who was also extremely friendly and a blast to work with. Guy was very straightforward and explained things in such a way that even being a first time buyer, I could understand what I was being told and offered. Guy was also very clear about the benefits of each option and explained to me which things could potentially be more useful than others. I was worried that once I went back to discuss payment all of the snakes would come out to try and squeeze me for every dollar, but after going through the process with Guy, I felt like I was being told my options but not pushed into anything. After working with Guy, I truly feel like I have a much better understanding of laws, titling, financing, and also why they are the way they are. I would and certainly will recommend Dewey Griffon to everyone looking for a car and looking to talk with genuine people, who care about there work, but also care about you as a person. Plus its not often that you get to have a car salesman who is also an incredible musician like Will, or a finance specialist like Guy who has an arsenal of funny jokes (truly funny) and an incredible past. I live in Bothell, but ended up buying a car at Bellingham Dewey Griffin Subaru because of Tony Benavides customer service, gentle manner (not pushy) and product knowledge. I recently used their service department as well. I have had experiences with many dealerships in the past, and can tell you that Tony has a unique style. The salesman was presumptive and pushy. He had difficulty remembering to keep his mask on his face, taking it off to talk several times and on the test drive he made comments like I “seemed really anxious”. After the test drive he stood far too close for comfort and he patted my shoulder while we were asking questions about the vehicle. I already don’t appreciate unsolicited physical contact from strangers, but it’s a pandemic too. The dealership kept contacting me via email and I explicitly said I wasn’t interested in the vehicle as it didn’t fit exactly what I was looking for. They continued to send me emails—one of which literally just said, “Was is something we did?”—so I admitted to having an unpleasant experience with one of their salesmen to which I received no correspondence or apology.

Absolutely A+ all the way around. Salesman Dan and Mark in the Service Dept have earned my business for life. I went in there in a total jam, worried about my 2015 Forester, which I had to abandon a couple weeks ago in Bellingham. They helped me get it over to the service dept from a parking lot across town, and then Dan set me up with a test drive of a Crosstrek and spent lots of time with me talking about all the offerings there. Totally nice guy, never pressure at all, just informative and pleasant the whole time while they were checking my Forester in for service. I was intending to trade in my Forester because of some chronic problems, and the breakdown was like the last straw. Then I got the call from Mark just now telling me it was still a great car, just badly needed some pretty simple service. He was clear and patient (I am not a car guy) and courteous throughout. Even the junior tech guy moving the cars around the lot was polite and funny when I was there. I live in Seattle, but I will now drive past five other Subaru dealers and and maybe 50 other brand dealerships to get to those guys at Dewey in Bellingham the next time I need anything car related (from a wash to new car). This is just the way it should be done.

I recently went to Dewey Griffin Subaru in all honesty expecting the worst. I personally have had a very bad time with mechanics and dealerships but Dewey Griffin was different. Had an great sales experience when I called and made a last minute appointment on Friday afternoon to view used Subaru’s.Will Glazier was patient and listened to what I was looking for. He was very knowledgeable about the Foresters. I chose a used 2015 and he went above and beyond to locate some missing accessories while I was in finance. Dewey Griffin was a super low pressure experience. They accepted my first counter offer and gave me good advice on financing and insurance. They gave myself my family the full service experience with drinks, a comfortable lounge, light food, a friendly dog for the kiddo to play with while I was signing paperwork and were accommodating when I wanted to check in on a free things before finalizing the sale. They offered free car washes and reasonable oil changes. I can highly recommend the said experience at Dewey Griffin.

Pretty awesome place. Went to look at cars and was able to browse without being pressured. The sales staff was awesome and gave me the run down on what was in the price range I was looking for. Found a 09 Honda, Civic and decided that was the car for me. The buying/financing part was smooth even with some computer hickups. The staff was very attentive and willing to answer questions. We have lived in Bellingham for just over a year, and owning an older Subaru Outback, were glad to find Dewey Griffin Subaru. They are both very professional and genuinely honest and decent.Today our car started and died repeatedly as my wife tried to leave Safeway and drive home. We put a call to them, as they had had done some work on the car a few weeks ago. Within half an hour one of their mechanics, Jack, appeared checked everything he could in the Safeway car park and got the car running again-all at no expense - except to his and the firms time. I know they have literally hundreds of good comments, but todays good deed just brings us up to the present moment, in the midst of the challenges of corona virus cautions. We feel very fortunate to have such a great Subaru repair center nearby to turn to, and to experience kindness and such responsiveness from all of their staff.

No pressure and he is so very knowledgable about the cars that we felt very comfortable working with him. I think one of the best qualities about Will is that he listened to us and what are wants and needs were and did not try to sell us something we did not want. I got my Nissan Rogue today from Dewey Griffin Subaru. I saw the car online and did everything through email. Gage was so patient in explaining and sending pictures of the car via email and phone. We finalized the offer via email and I went into the dealership to buy the car today and it was real quick and Gage made it super easy buying process for me and I already decided to buy my next Subaru from here. Instead, he answered all of our questions and allowed us to compare multiple models. Take your business elsewhere. I’ve purchased a lot of cars in my life and never, ever had an experience like this, which included being lied to and having credit issues leveraged to try and force a bad deal to take advantage of me and my wife.I made the mistake of first approaching this dealership to lease a new 2020 Forester Touring. I was told by Lori Bockwoldt (the finance manager) my wife and I were approved for a Lease (after running my credit). Then she provided the numbers. The dealership offered less than the minimum KBB trade-in value for my 2017 Forester Touring (which was in excellent shape with a top-notch tint job), and only took $1,000 off of MSRP. I tried to negotiate, but they knew we had credit issues and refused to budge. It was a bad deal. So I went shopping. I found other Subaru dealerships (south of here) would sell me the exact same vehicle at Invoice, give me $1,500 more for my trade-in, and one even offered to tint the new vehicle as part of the deal; the difference was more than $3,000 in savings. The problem is these other dealerships couldn’t secure a lease because Dewey’s inquiries had lowered my credit just enough to where other dealerships couldn’t get lease approval. So, I went back to Dewey and asked Lori to confirm we were approved and able to move forward (taking a bad deal, but now having no choice if we wanted to lease a new car). She said yes. A day later she got back to me and said I was denied because there were new multiple credit inquiries (which she said were “red flags” to the lender), and some incorrect employment issues (they claimed my employment was something it was not). So, the catalyst for this mess was the fact I went shopping because Dewey was giving a bad deal, and now had new inquiries from other dealerships. And this was after I was “supposedly” approved (and she told me the approval was good for 14 days!). Now we’re unable to secure a lease anywhere. Dewey wasted more than two weeks of my time, lied to me about approval, and then created the very situation that caused the deal to fall apart because they tried to overcharge the sale and undervalue my trade-in (causing me to seek a better deal elsewhere, unaware doing so would destroy any chance to secure a deal). Once again, two different Subaru dealerships south of me offered me more than $3,000 in savings for the same thing Dewey was proposing.None of this would have happened if Dewey offered me reasonable trade-in and sold the vehicle at a reasonable (or even competitive) price. So be wary; this dealership will try to gouge you if they think they can, they will lie about approval, and those who have credit issues can find themselves locked out of securing a deal anywhere else.

Honesty, and sound integrity are the characteristics that permeate the entire staff, and this is why I decided to come here again and make a second vehicle purchase from them. They are by far the fastest, easiest, and most transparent dealership I have ever worked with. No back and forth, no games, or gimmicks. Michael Robles our sales person, was patient, knowledgeable and took his time explaining little details, I felt like I was dealing with a friend not a salesman. Never felt pressured. My 9 year old son even said what a nice guy he was! Showed us car history reports and took us for a long test drive. We got a way better car than we ever dreamed of thanks to Michael. Heath the sales manager worked on our tricky financial situation, and like Michael, you felt like you were talking to a trusted friend. He went above and beyond and took his time to get us a great finance rate on our loan, he was so patient and did not give up until I was satisfied! Then Guy, who handled our paperwork and warranty, was so friendly and had the patience of a saint. Explained the warranty to us in detail, and was very informative. Guy went through all the legal paperwork with us and again I felt like I sitting there with a friend. The Dewy Griffin team excells in customer service. Also I would like to mention they are very family friendly, they were great with my son, and they have a little playroom. Fresh popcorn while the kids watch tv, an awesome state of the art coffee machine, and a very clean and spacious facility. Another nice feature is free carwashes if you buy a vehicle from them. This is the only place I trust in Whatcom County to buy a vehicle!
