Called about a simple question about an exercise bike. They didnt know the answer so they told me to call another different number. I asked if they could put me on hold and ask someone to let me know the answer. They told me that they would, but after being on hold for a long while, I just automatically got transferred back to their main number to a totally different person and still no answer to my question!!!!!! Guess I wont be buying anything from this store!!!!

Not a lot of well knolaged people of products . But it was a nice clean place. I might add in to say it used to be that you needed to know basics or the fiction to products. befor taking a role in that department. I have worked retail and my business is retail in computers, servers, software, and such. We are an IT service. Other than prices little bit much on some items I can get less at other places. I can say hunter game cams youll need to compare to bass pro as well.

I was in this store for over an hour & NOBODY asked if I needed any help. (which I did.. Im 53 and couldnt get the shoes I wanted on the back of the top shelf) There was a kind man, customer, who helped me thoughAnd I wanted to get my 9yr old a Royals t-shirt... they had a very small selection for the kiddos. I think I may have seen 2 styles &less than 20 youth shirts.Then I go to the CHIEFS section. Still noone has offered any assistance. I get a couple shirts & go to the middle of the store.Still no help. I pick up what I wanted & head to the check out.I get up there and all I can say about the cashier is HELLO MISS GRUMPY PANTS!THE ONLY REASON THIS IS NOT A 1 STAR IS BECAUSE IT IS NOT THE TYPICAL SERVICE I USUALLY RECEIVE HERE.

This single star review is because of my experience with a staff member in the store. This staff member treated me and my mother in such a derogatory manner and I will never buy anything from this store. I was quickly showing my mother how to properly kick a soccer ball and this man comes around the corner does not bother to make eye contact and says “don’t get the balls dirty thank you”. In that moment he treated us as children and as if we were not paying customers. During checkout this same man told us that he could not scan one of the shirts because it did not have a proper tag and it will “confuse the system“. We bought another shirt from this brand and informed him that the prices were the same yet he refused to even scan or look up any code to check out the other shirt. All that being said I did not see that man interact with any other customers in the same manner and find it hard to believe that he treated us the same as he treats other customers in the store.

Academy Sports has a lot of great stuff. I got a Bells bike rack that was really easy to use and also got baseballs and a bat with a tee-ball setup for my kid. However, appearantly they dont recognize Nascar as a sport because I went there looking for some Nascar gear for the next race at Kansas Speedway and Academy had none. Maybe a licensing issue but that bummed me out.

I called ahead to ask about a product. Very helpful on the phone as well as when I arrived. Great staff guys!

We were greeted when we first walked into the.store.The Associate asked if we needed help finding anything, if we did to let her or another Associate know, The store was clean.and very.organized! Great shopping experience! We.will definitely be shopping the store again

For a box store its nice. Of course during this pandemic, its hard for them to keep up on stock. But they have been surprising me recently.

Very disappointed in how the managers did not put forth any effort to help my friend find her keys .that were lost in the store. They never went and looked back on the cameras.So she called her sister. About the problem that she was having. So we get there . Called road side .while waiting on the tow truck. the last of the management locks up not one of the came to the car . To see if all was well.Knowing that she was lost her keys. No they called the police. Not to see if we needed help !!! More to the point that were up to no good. That wasnt the case 😕

I bought a set a lifting weights here. The place is nice, cleaned, and organized. The staff is friendly and helpful get my weights set from checkout and loaded on to my car. It is place to get your sports supplies!

Went in for a large trampoline. All the units were in the warehouse. Was happy it was found brought up quickly and loaded into my truck for me ....

I live about 30 miles away so I check online & call before making the drive. Academy gets 3 stars because online is wrong a lot more than right. Even after calling to verify the gun is there it isnt. I am told been out of stock for months. Ammo is limited in todays world but same thing. Will not waste my time going there again. I was a long time buyer.

Nice clean store with friendly helpful staff. prices are considerably higher on name brands like Columbia, exact shirts from previous seasons that are still full price here are 5 to 9.99 at Ross so be careful about getting fooled into paying too much for old designs. They could DEFINITELY use a better selection of North Face as there was LITERALLY 3 items in the mens department yet they have signage for them like they ate a full retailer.The store inside its rather boring compared to the competition thats all over the kc market. no thrills here, no cool displays, boring store design with very little reason to go through the store vs. direct to what you need and out .

This place has the best camping and hunting gear. One of my favorite places in Belton. Staff is so helpful and friendly.

We got there around 6:30 p.m. we were getting the 10th last minute before our camping trip found exactly what we were looking for the staff were friendly we got in and out in about 15 minutes

Store is large and has a wide variety of items for sale. Employees were very helpful and friendly. Huge parking lot is blacktopped and handicap accessible. Building is easy to see from all directions. Directly off the interstate.

Store was well stocked and actually had ammunition for sale. Employees were professional and efficient.

Found what I needed..they had it in stock. Went well..went in for one, came out with three..lol.

On July 9th, I came to pick up some cleats for my son. Somehow I lost my car and my house keys. I spent 3 hours in the store alone searching for my keys they had seemed to vanish out of thin air. I notified staff and only a couple of them helped me search but nothing intricate. Eventually, all staff was notified via radio that keys were lost. The manager never approached me about the issue or to possibly review the tape recordings to see if someone may have stole them or simply dropped in a weird place. Nearly the whole staff knew that my keys were mysteriously gone. I finally gave up out of hurt and frustration and called my sisters to sit with me until my tow truck arrived, which was running late. The store closed at 10pm; we seen the staff come out about 20 mins later. Now mind you, Im waiting for my tow truck to come to tow my truck back to the house. The police were called on us because it was a car full of people just sitting in the parking lot. Im very embarrassed and hurt that this has happened. I had to come up with $200 dollars to replace my truck key.

Academy is a nice store. But they have no shotgun target loads.They sell Hoppes 12 ga. Cleaning mops for $1.99.Amazon wants over $5.00!

Purchased hiking boots for a trip to Yellowstone, Grand Canyon and 4 of the 5 Utah National Parks (Bryce, Zion, Arches, etc). Lots of hiking in various terrain (Woods, sand, rock climbing, gravel, streams, dew). The boots were a fair price and held up to the riggers of a full week+ of hiking in a variety of environments. Id buy again.

Had a wonderful experience purchasing a firearm Staff was knowledgeable and respectful upon purchase of a firearm I was placed on a delay of hold and was ensured that everything was Ok and received all of the correct information was informed that in three days time should be notified if I could receive the firearm but with not in the same day 4 hours later I receive a call to pick up firearm....

Good quality products. We couldnt find anyone to assist us. We searched all around finally went to the checkout line to see if they could get someone to help us. When he did come over to help he knew nothing about any of the products. He just gave false answers to appease us.

I rarely leave bad reviews for businesses. We are frequent shoppers at Academy and usually have good service. Today my mother and I went to do a return for my elderly grandmother on a pair of jeans she bought for my brother. She had lost the receipt. We got the same jeans just in a different color and they said they were not the same jeans (even though they were) and said they could not exchange them. They then tried to tell us we could get $2 for the jeans “per their policy”. Obviously, we declined and asked them to please just ship us the same pair in a direct exchange. They then said we had to pay for the jeans and the shipping and give them the jeans. Throughout this process the cashier, GiGi, and the manager treated us rudely and as if we were incompetent even though they were the ones not explaining things correctly and at one point I would say lying to us about what they were doing. They would tell us they were “fixing” the issue but then continuing to do the same deal we declined. Very disappointing. Sad that my grandmother spent her hard earned money on those jeans to give my brother a nice gift despite drowning in medical bills and all they can give us for the jeans is $2 back. Nor would they do a DIRECT EXCHANGE FOR THE SAME JEANS JUST IN A DIFFERENT COLOR! Ridiculous.

Could not get help with shoes. Very few employees because manager didnt properly schedule workers. Asked for assistance 3 times and waited an hour. My 8 yr. old son wanted some football gear for the upcoming flag football season and was so pumped to go pick out some gloves and a mouthpiece from your store as we have the past 3 years. Once we walked through the door we were greated by a nice older gentleman/senior citizen stating that we had to wear a mask. I proceeded to tell him that we will be fine. He stated that we had to wear one and pointed to a little table with a box of masks and some hand sanatizer. I told the man that we wont wear one and that we will not be back. My son was devistated. That is what this whole mask thing is doing to our children. Complete mind control. Anyways, we come home and got on Amazon, which I cannot stand either, but guess what!?!?!?!? Their inventory is way better! Tons of stuff at a cheaper price! I feel bad for the underpaid, undervalued elderly man that you stuck at the front door to turn people away...it is truly sad that in a county and city that has no mask mandate, that you have chosen this stance. I will not be back to spend money at your store as we have everything at the tips of our fingers, and a way better selection.

The 2 box limit on ammo is annoying when you wait in line for an hour and a half. I get the shortage and making sure everyone gets ammo, but people drive from out of town (me included) and wait in line for 2 boxes. If they dont have bulk packs ( which you can only get 1 of) then its not worth it. Bass pro has a 5 box limit, may need to switch up.

I came to make my first firearm purchase and the 3 guys helping customers honestly were not very nice and just seemed to be mentally checked out and ready to clock out. They didnt really seem to care about my genuine questions and desire to learn. Go to the overland park location, they got through the line more quickly and really genuinely congratulated me on the decision, they offered me advice, referred me to products and made me laugh. Meanwhile I asked the employees here for some products and they just vaguely said they probably had them and didnt even bother to leave the gun counter and show me. It wasnt terrible, but the contrast in customer service is the reason for the review and I feel should be notedPSA - prepare to wait awhile if your going to the gun area. The line was long and it took 30-40 mins

We set outside waiting for the tow truck, the store closed ( which she told the people in the store what happened) as the store closed and we waited on the tow truck someone from the store called the police for suspicious activity 🤔 the police came we told what was going on meanwhile the tow truck showed up thank God so the police went on about their way. Do you think this happened because we were black? Every employee that came out the store was white!

Found the airsoft equipment my son was looking for. Staff was super friendly and helpful, since we didnt know for sure what we needed. Very knowledgeable. Store was super clean. Well organized, lots of selection.

Everytime I look for something in particular, its always not available. They said I can come back, but this is the closest one in 30 miles of where I live.

The male entry staff member and one of the two cashiers were not very cordial. The young female cashier was quick, a matter of fact, and non expressive in her dealing with us. We had an unopened item with receipt of purchase to return and it was as though we were offending in our return of the item in her tone of why we were returning it. She was disrespect to an older adult by her actions. Maybe it was a bad day for her but she needs to remember that a customer is her income whether during a return or purchase encounter. The other cashier was better, he at least showed a helpfulness, as did the man by the shoe department.

Had 3 shotguns on the gun wall...virtually no ammo .. sold out of guns or they sold out to the gun takers... to be determined....

I bought a heater for the outsideFound a better deal at Home Depot went to take back the heater no problem but had also bought the tanks of propane to make it work was not told those could not be returned at time of purchase . Now I am stuck with those. NOT SO HAPPY.

I bought my sons bike there, I asked for assistance and never got it, I had to end up taking the bike down off the second tier of the bike rack myself, not easy task. Would have been nice if an associate would have done their job and helped.

They sold me a bike rack for my car with no instructions. The website said they had plenty in stock. When i get there it’s only 1 that fits my car. It looked like it had been returned but it’s a nice bike rack so I’m thinking it’s probably in good condition and it’s on sale a little for being returned. I get home, 30 minutes away from this place, open the box and no instructions.....really. If you have something returned make sure it’s all there. They could have filled the box with bricks and the people who work there probably would have taken it and given the money to the person. But the store was clean at least.
