Very thorough and professional service from an old school mechanic. He appreciates older quality vehicles and the owners who appreciate maintaining their vehicles properly and thoroughly.
I was calling to get a diagnostic quote for a cylinder misfire showing on my code reader & a variable idle on my MINI. Before I could even get that far he stops the conversation, angrily tells me that I’m talking over him, then says he’s not going to work on my car and hangs up. Weirdest business call I’ve ever had and was doing some introspection on my approach-then I checked the reviews here & on Yelp. Don’t let this guy make you question humanity, just believe the negative similar reviews and go somewhere else!
Great repair job, great service, reasonably priced.
Spoke with Ron about an issue with my 2010 BMW X3. He did what few auto experts do.... provide me helpful advice before collecting payment. In this particular case, it was not something that Ron could assist with so he pointed me in the direction of someone who could. He spent 20 minutes on the phone with me without requesting a dime. If that doesnt tell you what type of mechanic Ron is, nothing will. A trustworthy mechanic, what else could you ask for?
Went to Ron a few times and he was always very professional. A little over priced but always thought he did great work so never thought twice about that. Called today 10/29/20 and wanted to get my brakes done. After setting a date to bring it in Ron absolutely flipped on me saying i was pushing him to do my brakes next day and got mad at me when i asked if he knew roughly how much it would cost. He gave me an estimate a few months ago and he was so mad at me that I had “lost” the paperwork with the estimate. I’m sure he has been doing brakes for 20 plus years so was sure he could give me a “rough” estimate. I did ask him if he could do next day, but was very understanding when he said his next opening was next Wednesday. He ended up saying he didn’t want to do the work because I was pressuring him. He ended up hanging up on me and that was that. Sorry Ron but you’ve got to get your temper under control. Your attitude today was completely uncalled for. I have never written a review on anything or anybody, but I have also never been talked to the way you talked to me today. Today’s display was worth a negative review.
Ron, the owner and operator has been fantastic to work with. Its not common finding someone competent with higher end European cars and rare to find someone trustworthy who is competent with them. He has been both in my experience. My BMW Z3 needed the engine replaced and things like that with these cars are always some kind of expensive but Ron seemed to go out of his way to keep the cost reasonable, providing alternative options to things that could have made him a lot more on the repairs. A very honest individual not to mention a pleasure to work with. He kept in touch regularly, asked before making any changes to the plan, made different options clear, provided progress reports, made honest assessments and always seemed to have a upbeat and genuinely helpful attitude. Hes the sole owner and operator so a little patience is required but considering hes running that place on his own I was amazed how fast my car got done. A little patience and youll like the results.I highly recommend him for European car repairs.
Ron, the owner, knows his stuff. I have taken my Mercedes there for 3 years and trust him completely. Hes always good about explaining, even showing me the issues, and checking with me about what to proceed with.
The owner Ron is an amazing mechanic and he is honest to a fault.
Ron is a great mechanic! Honest and trustworthy! We recently bought a used 2004 Mini Cooper and have taken it to Ron for some work. Hes straightforward and to the point.
Took my 2003 ML in to Ron at the AutoHaus of Bend last week to replace the engine assembly belt. In and out quick, but found Ron a bit distressed by some negative reviews on the net about his lack of customer skills. This surprised me as Ron has always been professional and courteous with me. Actually, the first time I talked to Ron on the phone about two years ago it was obvious that he is extremely knowledgeable about foreign luxury cars and is totally dedicated to perfection. However, he also has certain expectations of his customers and rightfully so. Show up at your scheduled appointment time and prefers no waiting around as he has a very small office space. Fine with me. He calls when the car is ready and I pick it up. I know that he will provide expert workmanship and his price will be better than the dealership. I also show him the respect that he deserves as a busy, hard-working and honest professional. Too bad some people cant handle that. I truly value being one of Rons preferred customers and just want to give him two thumbs up!
Ron just did a bearing job on my car. A tire place tried to charge me 1,200$ for bearings and saying my suspension needed replacing to fix a grinding noise. Ron only charged 745$ for front bearings, oil change, tune up and drive train inspection, grinding noise gone and according to him my suspension is fine and i believe him more than the tire place. He is a mechanic you can trust, and trust in the auto repair industry is very rare. Respect him and his time, call for appointments and you will be happy with Rons work i promise.
Ron is great. He obviously loves cars and he takes excellent care of my Mini Countryman. He goes the extra mile for his customers - today I picked up my car, and he had it warm and running for me, so it would be comfortable on a chilly winter day. As an artist who loves attention to detail, I appreciate what he does and find him easy to work with.
Ron is the only mechanic in Bend that I will let work on my Land Rover. He’s professional, thorough and goes above and beyond to get the job done. I appreciate that he keeps me updated with status reports and his invoices are exceptionally detailed, so I know exactly what I’m paying for. Good guy who does good work.
I bought a BMW and the first day I got it the starter went out. I called Ron at autohaus and he was not only knowledgeable, kind, and willing to help me with my problem on such short notice, but he also did I great job! He fixed the starter in less than a day from the day he started The job. I was truly impressed by the job he did and his high level of professionalism. I would definitely recommend Ron to anyone looking to get some quality work done or in a pinch of a situation like I was in. 5 star work and 5 star service.
Ron is the greatest! I brought my 65 Mercedes in and he helped me out instantly! He was really busy but took the time to fix my little car and look over some over issues. He gave my car love! An excellent local company! I would trust nobody else but him. Thank you!
Serviced my MBZ and Mini Cooper S here and always had an excellent experience. Ron gives you detailed information and scrutiny about your car, and always looks out to save you money instead of just posting and adding to your bill. Keep in mind that he works by appointment only, so don’t try to show up there as he works by himself and has a very specific schedule.
My family has been going here for 10 years or more. We cant speak highly enough of Ron/Autohaus. Always a pleasure.
Ron is EXCELLENT. Hes honest and great at what he does. We recently had an estimate of work from Autohaus, went on a trip BEFORE having the work done with Autohaus, and then broke down and had to go to a BMW dealer in PDX.The estimate from the dealer had some of the same recommendations as Autohaus, BUT easily 3xs more. While stranded, Rons talked us through what he thought was valid work on the dealer estimate, helped determine what was needed to get back to Bend and Autohaus. He also told us what other parts would also be good to replace while in that part of the engine. When we got back, we did the other repairs at a FRACTION of the cost of the dealer AND Ron uses OEM parts, same as dealer. He did cooling system, CVs, bushings...All great work (I looked). Were planning on keeping our bimmer maintenance with Autohaus and all of our future cars as well.He has been emotional once in a call, but that often comes with genius. (I work with engineers)If youre looking for a cappuccino while your car is serviced, go elsewhere. If you want an honest, genius mechanic that is passionate about bimmers and German engineering, Ron is the mechanic to go to.
This guy offers way cheaper price compare to dealership, I saved more than half on fixing power window.
My BMW lost power yesterday morning at 8am and Ron had it working by 10am. What incredible timing and service! I highly recommend him!!!!
Owner has a very short fuse. I tried to get him to do a ppi. Everything seemed fine until he tried to charge me an extra 50 dollars for picking the car up from the dealer. I was not particularly happy with this but ultimately OK, as sure its his time and so on. But upon hearing my disappointment, its kind of sad to spend 250$ on a car you might not buy, he flipped and decided he does not want to do it anymore. Something with his gut and my heeing and haawing. Yet again ultimately I was ok with spending the money.
Ron is a great mechanic and knows my mini s inside and out. Ive been a customer for Hes a one man shop - the bottom line hes honest, thorough and gives it to you straight on.
Ive been bringing my 1990 560SEL to AutoHaus of Bend since 2011. Ron has always treated my fairly and honestly. I was recently considering selling my car and I wanted to replace the front brakes and front brake lines before I sold the car. My car has a LOT of rust around the front and Ron spent the better part of two days trying to get the brake lines replaced and the job completed. He only charged me for 3 hours labor when he spend all that time working on the car. He is and has always been full of integrity and honesty. I bought a new 1986 500 SE with 35,000 miles and Ill always have Ron taking care of her.
Was told to take my jaguar there, however I was looking for an address near auto has so I stopped there in my old truck to ask directions, Well this man was so extremely rude that I will be taking my car to another mechanic... this world needs kindness not rude, sarcastic, meanness.
Ron is a piece of work he lets his emotions get the best of him he gets one bad customer in the morning and he takes it out on everyone else the rest of the day apparently. I called him to set a time to bring my car in to have the transmission serviced and when I called he said he was with a customer. No problem when you get a change call me back i gave hime the number well he took down the wrong number apparently and never called me back so i called about an hour and a half later and politely asked if I could schedule a time to bring it in and he freaked out and told me to go somehere else because i didnt answer when he called me back and thats long story short,...i can be a repeat customer elsewhere
What an A hole!!! I call to schedule some time to get my car worked on and explain what my car is doing and he hangs up on me. I call him back and he yells at me telling me Im interrupting his work and he is a week out. So I say thats fine lets schedule it and he refuses to work with me and hangs up on me again. How are people like this in business or even allowed to communicate to the general public?I have a Mini and there arent a lot of options unfortunately. I really just wanted my car worked on and thought by explaining what was going on with it, it would help him determine when he could take it and how long he would need it.I guess he has enough business or his hemorrhoids were flaring. I dont know but I would advise not bothering to call him.
An absolute disgust. The man whoever runs that shop is an absolute tool. Very rude on the phone, and before I even mentioned that I wanted to make an appointment, he stated he had too much work and hung up. Not professional at all. Perhaps learn some customer service skills
My husband and I walked in to see if he could fix our BMW. We knock and wait, and then rudely startled by a man (guessing the owner) shouting what do we want??! My husband says hi, sir, how are you doing? And gets not very good, what are you here for? Extremely uncomfortable, my husband explains. And all the man, annoyed, said well thats a start, Im one weeks out and its best to make an appointment! Weirdest confrontation ever. No customer service skills at all. Maybe he was have a bad day, but no need to take it out on us. Tread lightly if you just walk in. But we will be taking our business elsewhere.
He was upfront about not having the help or time to fix my car however he couldnt recommend someone that would be willing to help me and he told me that he only gives estimates to his customers. I am new to town and would prefer to have a mom and pop local business work on my vehicle rather than a big corporate company. How am I supposed to become a customer if Ron wouldnt give me the opportunity to be one. I understand that he is a one man show and he sounds like an awesome mechanic but he made me feel like my money and time were not worth a penny to him.... How do you stay in business without new customers and an attitude like that? I will be taking my car elsewhere to be serviced. I hope this isnt normal customer service in bend.. I left feeling belittled and disappointed.
While I agree that Ron is a quality mechanic for a good price, his customer service is somewhat lacking. Hes always in a rush, never seems willing to do anything that would exceed expectations, in fact, more like hes trying to just do the bare minimum. Im all for saving money but I want to fix my car so that I wont have to worry about the same problem later on, not just put band-aids on it and wait til the problem gets really bad to fix it right. Also, he has no flexibility for a person with a hectic schedule. If you have to reschedule or have an emergency that prevents you from calling him back immediately, prepare for rude behavior and threats that hell never work on your car again. I understand that hes a one man shop and busy professional, etc. But so am I. Does my time count for nothing? Does my schedule not matter? So, Id much rather pay someone who treats me like they want my business and they want my car to actually be fixed the first time, even if its a little more expensive, than someone who is so inflexible and overly sensitive when someone needs accommodations for their own busy schedule. Ill be going to German Master Techs from now on.
I just called them and asked if they work on Saabs, and when I asked if he knew who might be able to help me, he said you see what I work on I dont do saabs, and hung up on me. This guy is really rude!
My daughter and I have been working with Ron for over 6 years, trials and tribulation of being a Mini owner. Ron is an exceptional mechanic whose honesty and integrity are above reproach. Ron has a very busy one man shop and works by appointment. He does not appreciate walk-ins even those who are good friends and customers nor does he do well with time wasters or those who are rude and impolite. He is very good with giving updates of his progress, no need to call to check out what is going on and he is very thorough with his report of findings but does not like to be interrupted while he is sharing information. When hes done he will always ask if you have any questions however he is so thorough hes answered any questions you may have had as well as many you never thought to ask. My daughter and I both think he walks on water but were the first to admit he can be a bit gruff at times. Bottom line is if you want warm and fuzzy go to the humane society and adopt a kitten. If you want an exceptional mechanic we dont believe you can do better than Ron.
Im not going to tell you that Ron the owner and sole operator is a saint and he is far from perfect but he is a amazing mechanic. I have known Ron for decades and i have trusted him for just as long. He has been providing quality work for the residents of bend for over 30 years and i hate it when a pillar of bend is attacked by people because they did not get exactly what they want from him so they throw temper tantrums like children. This is a man that has worked alone for a long time so he can be sure things are done RIGHT, no receptionist, no assistant and no other mechanic helping him and this means that he is responsible for everything under his roof. When you give him your car that needs repairs you can be sure that its done right the first time and that some employee wont screw it up. This is a man that has to put up with constant interruptions from idiots looking for Penske truck rental because they moved in just down the street from him (even though he put up a sign in the front window saying Penske truck was down the street yet people still walk in and interrupt his work). He is a good hard working man that all he wants to do is provide quality work to his customers and to do that he needs to focus on his work. So before anyone wants to write anymore hurtful reviews please understand the impact your words have on the man. Try providing constructive things instead of throwing mud like children. One more thing, to be clear im posting under anonymous not to hide, but because i am just one of thousands of satisfied customers and my name is not important.
Really nasty experience at this shop. The owner seems to be either on drugs or in need or of them. A very dangerous man. I would not use this shop if it was the last place on earth. Dont risk it!
