Friendly, helpful staff! When I asked a question about recent shifter repairs, the staff member didn’t hesitate to put my bike back on the rack and demonstrate the solution, tweaking it a little on the spot for me. Service is such an important part of any purchase, and East Coasters is a complete solution!

They are always very helpful. Whenever I bring my bike in there or buy something new for it, I feel like it always leaves better than it returned! This is THE place to go, really. Every time I come here I have a great experience, whether its for maintenance things or for purchasing parts and tools. The staff is always very friendly and knowledgeable, this is one of the few places Id trust with my bikes and Id be confident they would get the job done right. Their website is also really helpful for finding the right parts/tools and even lets you see what they have in stock before you head over to the store, its really impressive that theyve put this much thought into the customer experience.

When ordering a new Trek to replace my aging Trek, you guys answered many questions by telephone during this covid era and helped me find the bike that would accommodate a knee issue, the Low Step. Absolutely amazing! I took my bike in for front brakes and front wheel trueing. I had previously done work myself on replacing the shifters and the cables were too long (coiled and tucked away). These guys cut them shorter and added crimped ends to them, free of charge! Great prices and they go the extra mile for you.

I dont think I can really do justice to how great this group of people are.I went in a while back when I was having bike issues, they made some minor adjustments without charging me, and spent a ton of time helping me decide on what type of fitting was best for me.When I came in for my fitting, I got hours of uninterrupted one-on-one attention that included thoroughly discussed options on parts that I might consider replacing. I did not feel any pressure to purchase parts and was given an honest cost-benefit of each part. I left with my bike truly fitting me for the first time in years. Janet (I think that was her name, its been a while) did an awesome job.What reminded me that I needed to write a review was when I had a minor emergency with my car. I asked to borrow a tool to fix it, which the service tech couldnt do. Instead, he turned the wrench himself and helped me out of a bind.Thanks again guys.

Even during this unprecedented time dealing with Covid-19, they were great over the phone and email! I stop in East Coasters and bug them with questions, all the time. They always take the time to answer my questions, and make sure I understand what is going on with my bike. I shouldve reviewed them sooner, for all of the low-level advice theyve given me over the years, not to mention the repairs and maintenance. I just got my bike back from East Coasters. MAJOR overhaul, after 3,800 miles, and a lot of worn out parts, including front and rear suspension maintenance. Its like riding a new bike! Floating on air again, just like when I bought it in 2014. Friendly staff that fixed a broken cable housing and got my rear derailleur shifting perfectly again. Walked over to the Gucci Krogers, had a glass of wine at their wine bar, walked back and picked up my bike. Doesnt get any better than that.

You dont have to be a pro to get treated like one when you walk into East Coasters. Their staff is knowledgeable, capable, & friendly no matter if you are hard core roadie, mountain biker, or casual rider. Specifically I appreciate how the mechanics look for problems beyond what you brought your bike in for....nothing is more frustrating that to have a breakdown after your bike was in for service.I would also highly recommend their abilities for bike fittings. Really amazing customer service. They greet me like an old friend every time I come in, even though Im not in there particularly frequently. They have extremely knowledgeable staff and never seem to charge for the very minor tweaks -- we came in trying to swap out pedals that were stuck in place, not even pedals we were buying there, and they did the swap for us on the spot, no charge. East Coasters is an amazing bike shop.I have been going there for the past 3 years, but recent event inclined me to write a review. I went in to purchase a higher end bike from the store along with the advanced bike fit about a month ago. I ended up being too tall for the Speed Concept by a couple centimeters from the measurements Kirby took. Instead of adjusting my fit, he told me I has too big and researched other brands that could accommodate my size. After ordering the new bike from another shop (because they East Coasters could not sell the brand)... I brought it back to the store to get fit which I was not even charged for---because normally the fit is included with a bike purchase.The integrity and quality of service East Coasters offers is unparalleled and I would highly recommendthem for anyone with bike related needs.

Great Staff. In particular Ive worked with: Janet, Scott, Gary, and Ian. They are wicked solid people, give great advice, and troll me in email correspondence... Eli calls me dookie but otherwise he is cool too. The kid is a good dude too. I dont know his name but hes super diligent and fixes things I forget to mention whenever I bring in my bike. Im looking to purchase a Pinarello aero TT fat bike from them in the future.

I showed up unannounced last weekend when the shop was crammed with people registering for the Mountains of Misery ride nearby. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. I thought I just needed a small derailleur adjustment, but the staff found several problems that I hadnt identified. During my first road-bike buying experience in March 2012, I came to East Coasters to get outfitted for a touring bike -- one that would take me up thousands of feet at a time while carrying a moderate load (camping + cycling = what could be better?!). Kirby measured me out and set me up with a Lane by Trek. I depended on the team there to determine the correct gearing for the crank and cassette (because I knew nothing) as well as other durability features (tires, steel frame).Unfortunately, I it seems I made an un-wise choice in relying on them. My gearing has caused me nothing but head-aches on the 6 touring trips I have taken since! I, ignorantly, had the front crank replaced a week after getting the bike from a 2-ring to a 3-ring and was charged for it. Worse, the derailleur (that they kept on) was only capable of shifting for a 2-ring crank. Mind you, the front-shifters are made for a 3-ring crank...3-ring crank, 2-ring derailleur, 3-ring shifter....something isnt adding up. But, hey, it was ride-able!Four mechanics since (from all over the country) have shaken their heads with me over how ridiculous/painful this is as we attempt to work around the issue so I dont have to jerry-rig another solution to get me up any mountain over 800 feet (Im actually kind of embarrassed about it, now). Ive also replaced the back derailleur and cassette since he had originally installed a racing cassette instead of a touring cassette (No wonder my legs hurt so much climbing up Harding!), costing another $80. Best adjustment one could make before touring!I look forward to the day that I can afford to make this right, finally! In the mean time, lets stop moaning and ride!

The sales staff and mechanics are always helpful and quick without making me feel like theyre trying to sell me anything I dont need. Scotts still my favorite mechanic in town: the only place Id trust with things like drilling out a stripped rivnut in my frame, etc. Plus, with an NRVBA bike club membership you get a discount on parts and clothes and such!

All three people that I came into contact with, including Scott and Grayson, were friendly and professional.

Not willing to work on my older bikes. Wanted to make a bid for fixing every thing back with new parts for 3x the price of a used bike hmmm, odd business model but very friendly.

I buy a lot of high end bikes/parts (my wife says I have a problem) and the guys and gals at East Coasters go above and beyond. Whether its bike fit, finding or researching products, service, or just answering how-to questions for someone who does (tries) most of his own maintenance at home, they are the best!

I brought my bike in that I bought from not East Coasters. They were friendly and helpful and not judgy. They helped me pick out pedals and then shoes to go with those pedals. I had a headset problem and they took it apart and fixed it real quick and real friendly. Didnt charge an outrageous amount for it and my bike feels amazing now.

I want to East Coasters to take a look at some road bikes because currently I have a mountain bike my friends have nice hair and road bikes. When I went inside, I was greeted by folks that genuinely have a passion for this! I didnt get the feeling that people were there just because it was a job have a job, but rather they got excited about telling me about different bicycles and how they might work for me. Since Im taller than most, they didnt have a bike frame for me to really size myself on. Wilson set up a time for me the next day to try his bike which was a 64 frame. After trying his bike and finding thats a 64 fit me quite well, he didnt stop there. I had ridden my mountain bike over there from Christiansburg, and he gave me some good pointers on how to properly adjust my suspension, as he also is a mountain biker! My ride back to Christiansburg improperly adjusted suspension was considerably better, and the bike felt a lot more balanced! She loves her Trek verve 2. Few months after that, we were so pleased with our bike that I decided to buy a Trek Verve 3 from East Coasters Bike shop in Blacksburg. They offered a free tune up for my wifes bike and 20 dollars toward purchase of accessories. They even installed the water bottle case to my bike and the handle bar mirror on her bike. Today on huckleberry trail my wifes bike front tire was punctured by a nail. I took her front tire off and rode on trail toward East Coasters shop. They repaired the flat tire and did not charge me any money! They remembered us as a customer and they said that first flat tire repair is free. I have not seen a friendlier customer service anywhere else in my life! I am so glad we bought our bike from East Coasters shop in Blacksburg. My first trip to East Coaters was 4 years ago and they were the most impressive people I had ever met with their knowledge and experience with bicycles. They encouraged me to be the most I could be and were my biggest cheerleaders. Whenever I have a problem they are always willing to fix it quickly. When I go in there today I say Honey, Im home because that is the way it feels to me.I drive 45 minutes from my home to get to the shop oneway and pass 5 other bike shops on the way and would not consider stopping at any other shop. I even go to Florida for part of the year and I get everything I need at this shop prior to going and have not been in a shop in Florida since I have been there. I was on a business trip in the Blacksburg area, and thought Id carve out a little time to hit some of my old singletrack haunts... and maybe try out something new. Not only EastCoasters hook me up with a very nice ride at a reasonable price, but I got to join Kirby for the Thursday night ride at Pandapas Pond. Its great to know that the folks there dont just sell bikes, they ride them too! Thanks to EastCoasters, I got to inject a little bit of sanity into a trip. The service was excellent, they were very flexible, and they went the extra mile to make my experience enjoyable. Getting to hit the trails at Douthat was priceless!
