Had a wonderful time at Radchads! He was professional and very nice and understanding when I approached him with a design in mind! Don’t listen to other reviews cause people don’t get their way! Tattooing is definitely art and shouldn’t be rushed! Will definitely go back for follow up art! I highly recommend!

I have went here since March for my tattoos and I can say confidently that I will continue to return. He has never been annoyed or not able to do a design and was understanding when I have to cancel due to work. Extremely professional and would recommend to anyone and everyone. (He did the stomach piece and both butterfly ones on my legs)

The guy at the front was very rude, as soon as me and my friends walked in he gave us a look and then when we were trying to explain what tattoo we wanted he would judge us for what we wanted to get and then when we asked him if we could call in to make an appointment he said we had to drive to the store and make an appointment in person because they don’t use their phone. For my first experience at a place getting a tattoo I would like to feel welcomed and not judged for the things I want to put on my body, which is why I do not recommend anyone to go unless u want a bad experience!

Chad was an amazing artist. My friend and I went in for her tattoo, Chad was so friendly and helpful making sure she got exactly what she needed. Before leaving, I asked if he was able to do a cover up of a bad tattoo which other artists had denied fixing and he agreed to right away. I cant wait and am so excited to get my bad tattoo fixed by such an insanely good artist!

I got a Tribal Sun Tattoo and the guy was very straight forward. The guy is a bit serious but his dignity and artistic standards more than make up for it. Made an appointment and got a quality tattoo within a week and a half.For new people, this place is great as long as you know what you want

I am absolutely thrilled with my experience I had at Rad Chad’s ancient art! It was a lot more professional and personable then Danny’s was. I have finally found a tattoo artist that I am very happy with and will go to as long as he’s in the area and I am as well. He’s changed the whole look and feel of the shop. My septum was done completly WRONG!!!!I went in March 20th, 2021 to have my septum pierced. It was HORRILE!! The most PAINFUL piercing Ive ever gotten, it was only so incredibly painful because it was pierced in the wrong spot! Instead of being pierced threw the sweet spot I was pierced threw my cartilage!! Not only was it EXTREMELY painful, my nose POURED blood so much that I was given napkins to hold under my chin to avoid dripping blood everywhere.. I thought the worst was over! I was sadly mistaken.. later in the day I tried to eat but could not eat due to the jewelry being so far down it would hit/scrape on my food which would again, cause extreme pain.. just a week later I had noticed that it was uneven.. it was still VERY tender to touch I looked and it had started coming OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF MY NOSE!!!!!! The staff them selfs are super awesome & sweet & definitely make you feel safe & at home!(My piercing was cleaned as directed & I cleaned it with the pre-made Q-Tips they sell in their shop)1st picture: after returning to my car from shop.2nd picture: Showing how low it had fallen to bottom of my nose.

Went to the store yesterday asking if they had space for a walk-in, if they didn’t it was okay. But they guy was SO rude, and judgemental. I recommend Rarely Suspect in Blacksburg.

Definitely recommend ancient art and the artist Chad is amazing. He’s super nice and makes you feel comfortable. Also his work is amazing! He definitely knows what he’s doing and has a lot of experience. If you’re looking for somewhere to get some work done come here!

About a year ago I had got an Angel wing from another individual on my arm for a baby me and my ex fiance miscarried. The tattoo turned out horrible, today I take my problem to Chad. Walking in the shop it smelt clean and very unique with how he had his tattoos displayed. After exsplaineing how something needed to be done, a wing going half way up my arm, I knew this would be a big task. An expensive task, Chad, with complete confidence he knew he could fix it. I am now in love with my tattoo, and it didnt break the bank while talking with Chad I felt nothing but good vibes, respect, and i felt comfortable and he made sure I was. i would highly recomend this shop, both tattoo and body piercer are very great guys and take pride in their work

The guy at the desk was rude. We called before hand to see if we can get a walk-in and he told us to come to the store to look at them (fair enough). When we got to the store he was even more rude and he treated us like we were disturbing his work and talked to us with short words and overall made us feel stupid and unwelcome. Absolutely horrible.

Employee was very rude when I was there tonight. I opened the door to go in and he immediately blurted out, uh were closed and the signs are off. He acted very flustered like there was something happening they didnt want anyone to see. He walked to the door as to prevent me from walking any further. He did say oh what could we help you with as I was turning to leave. I told him a piercing and he said oh we are all out of equioment and our piercer is only here Friday, Saturday and......(I walked away and didnt hear the rest)

I didnt receive a horrible tattoo, but the artist was rude and there is visible mistakes. if youre a college girl chad will likely make you feel uncomfortable. i cant stand people who are unkind and patronizing and just altogether mean spirited for absolutely no reason. just reinforcing the stereotypes of tattoo artists that make people not want to get tattoos. there is an obvious mistake in my tattoo (a perpendicular line crossed over into the white) that ive already received comments on, which is very embarrassing considering this is on me for the rest of my life. i would ask for him to repair it but it isnt a reparable mistake, id have to get that part removed. i know its tempting to go to the place that takes walk ins, but hold out for a tattoo place with nice, caring staff. also, paying for the tattoo and tipping before its even started? please save your money and body

Went and got two body piercings at this location and I would recommend to anyone! I was extremely nervous given that this was my first ever body piercing, but the staff was comforting and very likable! Staff gave me lots of information on aftercare, the piercer showed me his portfolio (mentioned he had been piercing for over 10+ years!), and were very patient with my nervousness. I love my piercings so much and am elated with how precise they were done!

As a first time, I was made to feel welcome as soon as I walked in the door. Only a 15min wait for a beautiful tattoo. My artist Justin was amazing. He took a 2 dimensional picture and transformed it in front of my eyes. It was truly awe inspiring to watch how he put such thought into what I wanted. His attention to detail was what made my tattoo stand out. I look forward to the work he does for me next time!!!

I was told that this was the best place in the new river valley to get a tattoo, but apparently I was wrong. Ive been talking to someone for 2 days about what I would like to have only to receive a barrage of excuses as to why they cant do what I want. It seems to me that this establishment is only concerned about stock images that take less than an hour to do so they can make a quick buck. Youll have better luck if you go to a major city or prison to get a real tattoo versus dealing with these posers.

I went as a walk in on a Saturday and the wait was long but ABSOLUTELY worth every minute!!! Justin did a fantastic job. He was very meticulous about making sure he was giving me exactly what I wanted and that the placement was exact. He also was very laid back and did a great job lightening the mood and making me feel comfortable for my first tattoo. I live 4 hours away and plan on going back to him when I’m ready for tat-two! Great experience!

Wonderful experience for my first tattoo. My tattoo was done by Alan in a timely manner and looks awesome. It is a portrait of a lion and looks super realistic. I highly recommend.

The jewelry was insanely over priced. The receptionist was INSANELY rude and seemed to struggle with the basic phone conversation she was having while I waited? I unfortunately didn’t have any more masks as we had been hiking and been around all day. I peaked my head in the door to let the woman at the front know what I needed so I didn’t go in all the way without a mask (AS SHE WAS WAVING FOR ME TO GET AWAY FROM THE DOOR) so she gave me one while mumbling to herself “let’s follow state regulations guys”. I had used all of mine (gloves as well) and lost my belly button ring in the woods by that time.Also, masks are optional. So even if I was someone who chose not to participate in that, there was no sign stating it was necessary.

Great service! Fast easy and most of all in my books they take proper actions in making sure what you is they its suppose to be.

Ive had a good number of piercings in my day, and after a five year hiatus from having one, I decided to get my lip done this past Friday, 9/18/15.Before going into Ancient Art, Id only ever had my piercings done by one person, who I trusted very much, so I was a bit nervous dealing with new people; my nerves were very quickly assuaged by the warm and welcoming natures of the woman working at the front desk and by the piercer himself (whose names I unfortunately do not remember).Overall, the staff was at once highly professional, knowledgeable, and extremely friendly. Today (9/21/15) I walked in with a random question and the piercer gladly answered my question. The facility was also very clean and had a nice, relaxing vibe to it, despite being fairly busy. Should I decided to get another piercing (which, due to my great experience, is quite likely), I will very happily go out of my way to return to Dannys Ancient Art.

My fiancé and I went and got matching tattoos last night and I was very impressed! The guy at the front desk could have been a little nicer, but oh well! The place was very clean and the artist took his time making sure everything was sanitized and ready to go! He was very good with giving suggestions on tattoo placement and needle size and he was very fast, but very accurate! We originally wanted our script in very tiny writing, but he suggested not to go very small because it would blowout; I really respected his opinions and suggestions. I could just tell he knew was he was doing and he was GOOD at what he did by the way he talked; very intelligent and passionate. He made sure that we saw that he took everything fresh out of the package and he was just all around a sick artist! I would say a TAD pricey, but hey! Everyone has to make money. Because the tattoo meant SO much, we decided to go for it anyway, and Im glad we did! Highly recommend!

Established tattoo business with a prime Downtown Blacksburg location right in the Center of all activity, on picturesque Roanoke Street. Operating for at least the last two Decades, I’ve never ventured by this shop that they weren’t busy.There’s almost always a full Lobby on most weekend nights, and I think you could say that this is the first choice of tattoo artists for the Virginia Tech community.As long as I’ve been in town, I’ve never heard anything negative about this shop. All contacts must go through my Attorney.

Sean is the best with body piercings, I prefer going to Ancient Arts vs. anywhere else

I got my first and second tattoo at this shop and the quality is excellent. I got my first tattoo in 1998 and second in 2006. I have had other tattoo artists say that the quality is awesome. I recommend this shop they only hire the best artists. Excellent work.

Well my tattoo came out great and the guy that did it was super nice. I was told to come back within three months and I could have a free touch up. I also paid $100 for it even though it was small because it is on my foot. Well, I go in two months later and I need a touch up because if scabbed in one tiny place and is faded. I ask to make an appointment and they tell me sorry, my artist was a guest and from PA so I’d have to go to PA to get my free touch up. I was so upset and the guy on the phone was just plain rude about it. I was never told my artist was a guest artist and I could only have my free touch up done by going to PA until it was too late. I would have just waiting for a local artist if that was the case! Anyway, don’t recommend going there, they lie and have awful customer service.

Ive gotten a couple of piercings here, the price is pretty decent and the piercer, Sean, is always very friendly. He does a great job and he makes sure that he pierces you exactly where you want it. They have a great selection of body jewelry here and they get you in and out quickly.

I debated on leaving this review for awhile because I didnt want to tarnish a good tattoo shop with one bad review for one particular employee. I went to this shop after debating back and forth for months about a tattoo that had a saying that meant a lot to be but I had a hard time committing to getting it. I finally decided to goafter my friend got a tattoo there and had an amazing experience. I went in and ended up having to wait an hour because they never called to tell me it was my turn. I got Andrew, he was cool at first but when it came to lifting up my bralette a little bit he got weird and started making awkward comments. He then changed the fount that I SPECIFICALLY asked for and wrote it in SHARPIE. While I was getting my tattoo done the awkward comments didnt stop. Then after I got home I realized he put the tattoo up way too high and it is actually on half of my breast and it makes me so angry every time I look at it because the placement is so bad its embarrassing ( and its not even in the fount that I asked for). I actually have considered getting covered up I hate it so much. All of the other artist there are amazing and polite, just dont get Andrew.

I got my first tattoo ever two weeks ago at Ancient Art with Chris Toler. The service was great! I was a bit nervous since it was my first, but everything worked out fine. The place is clean and nice, the people are friendly and the price is right. The tattoo healed well and I am already thinking about getting another one. I am very satisfied.

Called at 830pm from Roanoke to see if theyd do a walk-in . They said yes so I rushed from Roanoke to Blacksburg . Noone is here . Noone will answer the phone . Just wasted the gas money and time getting here because I was told to go ahead and come on . Super unprofessional .

Absolutely would not recommend this place for a piercing. For starters, they charge an outrageous price to put a cheap earring in your ear that causes so many issues. They knew I had no other piercings with them and failed to give me any information regarding after treatment. My friend that was with me had to tell me what to do. Again, nothing but issues with the piercing from this place. I had been trying to get them to help me out on multiple occasions by visiting the store and was totally dismissed. Went somewhere else to replace the earring. That place told me how horrible of a job the piercing place (this place) had done. A few months went by and still had issues, tried to get this place to help me again- nope. Went somewhere else today and they told me the piercing done by a dude at this place was totally crooked and butchered. I ended up having to pay someone else to help me take out the earring (because no one at this place would give me the time of day and were so rude). Luckily someone was able to actually provide information and be a genuine, friendly person. Absolute disgraceful place. Drive to Christiansburg- save the money AND the issues/ infections.

Clean and sterile studio and a friendly staff. Prices are a bit steep but well worth the cost. Wouldnt dream of going anywhere else!

Got my bellybutton pierced today and Vicki was amazing. She is so nice and did such a good job. i had friends with me who already had theres done and they said she did a way better and quicker job than they had at other places. Would definitely recommend!

My girlfriends and I walked in with hopes of getting piercings and firstly we were NOT greeted kindly. The man at the front desk didnt even make eye contact with us and was not very proactive at all about helping us or answering our questions. He was rude and pretentious and totally turned us off to the whole place. We were literally appalled by the way he talked to us. Never go here, go up the street to Rendezvous - much friendlier and a really good family vibe.

From the reception counter to the moment I walked out it was an overall great experience. If youre doing a walk-in on a friday be ready to wait a few hours in case others are in line before you. Cory did a fantastic job and was friendly and professional in every way. He showed me the tools they used when I asked and gave advice on how to care for the tattoo for the first few weeks.

Clean, friendly facility. I was in there less than 10 minutes for a nose piercing. They were very helpful with after care instructions. Definitely recommend.

My mom and I went to Ancient Art tattoo for the first time and we will be back. Clean facility, awesome staff, and extremely professional. Derrick tattooed me and it was a great experience. Will definitely have him tattoo me again!

I have been tattooed by Cory with no issue. Hes friendly, and done an excellent job. I do however find that their scheduling is atrocious. I have eleven tattoos, from 4 different shops and 6 different artists, but no where is as difficult at Ancient Art. Their front desk clerk is rude, unhelpful and tries to give you time and cost estimates although he has no idea what hes talking about. He tries to act like an artist, but everywhere else Id go you deal with the actual artist on these things. Honestly, I like Cory, but theres a ton of great artists and shops in Roanoke that have a more helpful staff and more variety in styles. If youre putting something permanent on your body its worth dealing with a better atmosphere.

Fast, friendly and knowledgeable staff. My wife got a microdermal and it literally took 5 minutes.

The place itself and the people are nice and the price is reasonable, but apparently its just too much to ask a tattoo artist to do some straight, parallel lines. The stencil looked different from what actually came out of my arm, and the glaring imperfections were clear once the tattoo healed. Uneven, shaky, fading, blown out line work make a bad tattoo even worse. Im getting it covered up by real artists, not just ones who specialize in cheap Pinterest tattoos in a college town.

Got my tragus pierced here and they said they had the high end jewelry but I didnt even have the piercing in a week and the balls that screw on to the post fell off. Went back had the post reput in and both the balls feel off within a day. Im better off putting my own jewelry in. Nice people but really bad jewelry thats not worthwhile.

I went here to see if they could put a hoop in my nose because I was having trouble getting it in myself. The guy (tall, big, ginger prick) couldnt get it in which was fine because it was a larger gauge. The problem started when he was putting my other hoop back in. He was not gentle at all and proceeded to shove it back into the hole while I was in tears and expressed how it hurt. Also this same hoop I had no problem getting in and out of my nose earlier after trying to put the new one in. He then told me in a very rude tone well do you want to leave without anything in the hole and it close up . I should have just put it in myself. I will never come here again. I wouldnt even get simple earlobe piercings from this place.

Great staff great work and friendly atmosphere

Loved my tattoo I got here a few years back. I also got a couple piercings done this past summer. When I came back in relation to one of the piercings, my original piercer was no longer there. The guy that replaced her was pretty cool though. When I tried to go back to try and get another tattoo, I found there was only one artist left working at the shop (according to their website). Also, most times I tried to stop by they were closed, even though their sign claimed they were supposed to be open during these time. I dont know why they are having a personnel issue with keeping artists, but I will be getting my next tattoo elsewhere in Blacksburg.

I went in to purchase a replacement nose ring that had fallen out and gotten lost earlier that day. I went to the front desk, purchased one, and one of the tattoo artists called me back to put it in. I sit down in the chair, and he immediately tries to force it into the apparently closed hole, making tears stream from my eyes in pain as my nose bled. He didnt use any rubbing alcohol or anything to numb or relieve the pain. After that, he decides that he just needs to repierce it, so then uses alcohol. Very upset with what went on and I will not be returning.

Idk about the tattoos here but I got my cartilage pierced here and they were over priced, pierced it very crooked, and were extremely rough while piercing and placing the jewelry on my ear. This is my 14th piercing and I have never been so dissatisfied with any place. My cartilage is now very infected and the piercing crooked. I paid so much more than I usually do for a messed up piercing. I do not recommend going here to get anything pierced, it was a horrible experience.

I never write reviews but after my visit today I decided to post one.. I was treated very rude when I went in to get my daughters nose pierced the gentlemen in there was very condescending and disrespectful. I went down to Rendezvous and it was great!!
