In the past I have had great service but Fall 2021 has been disappointing. I ordered a textbook for local delivery. I got an email advising book had been shipped. 2 days have passed and still no delivery. I have called for 2 days and no one in Blacksburg will answer. If I let the phone ring long enough it forwards to College Park where they assist as much as they can but at this point the status of the text book is unknown. I tried to use a local business and I am regretting it plus my daughter can not do her homework. UPDATE: I finally got communication through facebook messanger and was told they are short staffed and deliveries have not been made and they dont know when deliveries will even be attempted. I was advised to go pick up the book at the store. UPDATE2: My daughter went to pick up the book. A supervisor was finally called to help get her the text book. She was advised that the book was not out for delivery and was misdirected. It had a shipping label printed and then the book was mailed to her so now when it arrives (no telling what day that will be) she will need to return the book back to Bookholders. The book never went out for local delivery from store to apartment. So local delivery really means my daughter is taking 2 trips to the store to take care of the issue.

NEVER sell any of your books through bookholders! Sold books twice with them now and both times have required multiple months and repeated phone calls to receive the check for the money the owed me. Im still waiting on my second check and the books were sold last year and despite calling the store and requesting the status on the check, they will either say it hasnt been printed or that it has been lost in the mail (heard this more times than Id like). If you dont keep on them about your money, you will never get it and theyll just pocket your cash.

You wont receive your check from here if you do the Advantage process. Either get the cash at the time of selling or dont sell here. Maybe the process of buying from here is more consistent, but with selling, it doesnt work out well.

I ordered a book on January 19th 2021 and paid extra for it to be delivered before the semester smarts. However, its February 22 and I am still waiting on the book. When I tried to cancel the order and have it refunded, I was told to wait until Friday the 19th. Miraculously, the book gets delivered on Friday, but not to my address. I again contacted them asking for a refund and was told to call around some of the local post offices to find the order. They were unable to give me an exact location either. I did not know that I am paying for shipping and supposed to hunt down the book. Never again. Will return the book once I find it lol.

DO NOT SELL BOOKS HERE! Like another person who reviewed this store, if you go forward with the Advantage option when selling books, you will never get your check. Ive been waiting for over two months for my check and there seems to be no hope in them ever giving it to me. Its either Hasnt been printed yet, In the mail, or some other lame reason. Do yourself a favor and either sell through the Cash Now option or dont sell your books to Bookholders at all.

This is a great place to take your used textbooks to if you want to earn some actual money. I sold my textbook back to school ONCE before I realized that you can make way more money through Bookholders. I have left books with them to sell and been pleasantly surprised when I receive a check in the mail! The best way to make the most money back off your textbooks is to leave them with them to sell and wait. I know people want money right away these days, but you will make so much more if youre willing to wait.

These guys are awesome! I bought a book one afternoon and then two hours later the TA sent an email saying that I bought the wrong book. I went in that evening and they gave me a full refund. I’m so glad I didn’t order it through an entirely online vendor.Also, they are very close to campus, a short walk for students.

The books are available at a reasonable cost. You can even exchange your old books for a price. You can also purchase almost any remotes like I-clicker and guides for SAT.. APs but also general text books for VT at a significantly lower rate as compared to the Uni BookStore!!

Absolutely do not sell your books here. I gave them a bunch of books back in August and they never sent me a check. Ive called them multiple times and they promise me to send me my check but still havent done so. Supposedly theyre going to resend it at the end of February even though my books were mostly sold by October. Nothing but problems here.

Massive collection of books, and not just textbooks and the like. Youll find fiction, non-fiction, childrens books, and even a shelf full of free books. The staff are super helpful. If youre visiting for the first time, you have to use the provided kiosks to search for books. You cant just search through the stacks. In addition to books, youll find an assortment of Hokies shirts, sweatshirts, etc.

DO NOT SELL YOUR BOOKS HERE.I listed my books here through their advantage program. The books sold, checks were printed and supposedly mailed to me. The checks were then cashed by someone who wasnt me months later and going on 2 years later bookholders still has no answer for me from their investigation into the stolen checks.I have a feeling someone is pocketing every few checks that dont get picked up right away rather than making them and then hoping people go away instead of waiting 2 years for a few hundred $.I have called and talked to managers both at this location and at the headquarters in College Park and they tell me every time that This sounds unusual. Ill look into it and get back to you by the end of the day. They never call back and I repeat this process every few days.If someone doesnt find my checks or reprint them in the next few weeks a small claims suit will be coming Bookholders way.I was brought in by the business model of selling the books for you and taking a cut. And it seems I have been burned by the under the table scam they seem to be running in the background. And to broke college students of all people!

Organized and quick. There is one employee who has a bad attitude problem with both coworkers and customers; tends to make rude remarks under his breath, but loud enough to be heard. Some of the staff lacks the answers to a lot of my questions, but usually can find an answer. Generally a good place to sell books, but look out for the rude individual with longer hair.

When I first came to BookHolders, I was expecting cheap prices and no hassle getting my books for the semester. The weekend before classes started, I put in an order for 3 books. I ended up cancelling two of those orders because of a dropped class, but no big deal.The third book was a lab manual for Physics 2306. BookHolders told me that I would get my book within 10 business days, but that never happened. I waited literally 20 days and it was coming close to the official start date to lab, so I ended up cancelling that order too. They told me that the package was lost. I ended up buying the manual at the University Bookstore which ended up being cheaper than BookHolders.The lost book was a minor inconvenience, but the two orders I canceled were on August 20. They told me that I would get my money back within 7 business days, which is no big deal. After the 7 business days, I called inquiring about my missing funds. They told me there was nothing they could do about it, so I emailed their support team. No response. I ended up calling their headquarters in Maryland and they told me that they were going to take care of my return right away. I then got my money 4 days later, which is fantastic, but this is 26 DAYS after my initial return.I am very disappointed with their business and how disorganized it was. Returns should be processed right away. Will not be shopping here again. Also, before you buy books here, make sure they are actually cheaper than what the University Bookstore offers. It may be cheaper at the bookstore.

Horrible! Gave them 5 textbooks to sell using the you get method a few weeks before the semester started (seems like prime time to sell). The you get total was $180, and a couple months later they notified me that all my textbooks had sold and I get a check for $20. I understand the you get is optimistic, but I could have gotten a lot more without waiting using Amazon.

100% would never recommend this company to anyone. On March 6th, the book that I gave Bookholders sold. According to their policy, the customer must wait 30 days after the book selling to receive a check. After the 30 day period, they told me I had to wait until a batch of checks was printed. Weeks passed on, and every time I would inquire about the process, they would say the batch isn’t ready. 5 months had passed after the 30 day period, and they finally sent an email saying my check was ready and it would be sent out to my address on August 1st. After 2 weeks of waiting, I called and the employee told me his boss wanted to hold all checks until after students return to Blacksburg so they could save money and not have to ship all the checks out. Absolutely poor management all the way around. Save your time and don’t even bother selling your books here.

Buying textbooks from this place is even cheaper than Amazon. Always check their website if you need something. My $251 math textbook cost me $19 from Bookholders to rent for an entire semester. The girl who worked there wasnt super helpful unfortunately, so look up the books on their website first before you go. When I asked for a textbook she told me they had none in stock, so I showed her on my phone that they did, then she told me the cheapest one was $171 and I had to pull out my phone a second time and show her that they had eight copies in stock marked $55. But this wasnt a huge deal, the amount of money I saved was definitely worth overlooking one employees mistakes.

I ordered a book here, said it would arrive at the store in 7-10 days and I didnt hear from them. Ive emailed them many times and its been a month now. I am now requesting a refund, because I dont need the book anymore. Now they are not responding and basically have stolen $140. Dont try to save money here

!!!!!!SCAM ALERT!!!!I gave this company 2 books in the spring, they offered me 30 dollars cash or they would hold them sell them and give me 70. I of course agreed to the 70 dollars only to find out one book sold for 4 dollars and the other which hasnt even sold is only being sold for 17. Thats 21 instead of 30 and nowhere close to 70. I called and they said theyd cut me a check for 4 dollars and the other book will sell when it sells. Im not going to hold my breath. This is a total scam, ripoff, put your books on amazon and cut off this corporate monster sucking our small town dry. BOOKHOLDERS ITS TIME TO GTFO.......
