I stopped in to check out their selection. The fact that there are no prices on many of the products baffled me quite a bit. The employee working seemed like getting up from their tablet and ringing up my purchase was an inconvenience and that I was interrupting their hobby time. The selection of GW and DnD figures were very nice and its the only place Ive been able to find Vallejo paints locally.
Friendly people, great games, and a dog named Mochi. I loved it!
A nice little comic shop that caters to the Magic the Gathering scene at Virginia Tech. They had reasonably priced storage solutions for excess Magic singles.
One of my favorite places to be in Blacksburg. They sell board games, miniatures, card games, and comics, but the best part is the community. Most nights somebody can be found playing a game: Wednesday night Commander, Thursday night boardgames, Friday night Magic, etc. There are more than enough tables for everyone. The people are inviting and more than happy to have you join their game, even if they have to teach you the rules. Its also one of the most LGBTQ friendly places in the area that Ive seen. My time in this region is temporary, but I really hope I can find another place like it when life carries me elsewhere.
Over the years the store has changed owners and locations several times. The new location is bigger and offers a really good selection of comics board games, miniature games and collectible card games. A definite need for the area.
Great place, even for women and queer folks
Great store, had a very welcoming atmosphere for magic the gathering. Wonderful comic and board game selection as well.
Great shop, with excellent selection!
Every body there is rude and they don’t even know comic book stuff yet they work at a comic book store
The staff are very friendly and helpful. Great selection of models and comics.
This is hands down the greatest hobby shop. The new location is massive with every think you need for tables top gaming and tons of place to play every thing from card games to full on table top war games
Excellent. Went in for a 36 booster box after being told Fun N Games is not fun and expensive. Cheaper than expected despite the other store telling me an estimate price. Additionally, got a board game. Was recommended not to get the expansions because they are dull and ended up saving 15$ due to that recommendation from the store clerk. Thanks! Our Online community will take our business here from now on.
Its a fun atmosphere to go down and play some games with friends and enthusiasts alike. The new location looks great.
This place has seriously changed my life. There are many amazing communities to join, and Ive met many new friends there, anf grown closer with old. I discovered my love roleplaying games at Pathfinder Society. I discovered I was a decent painter at their classes. Hell, I even discovered I enjoyed TCG here. Seriously, if youre a fan of anything tabletop related, give it a shot. 5 years ago, I did, and I never looked back.
If you like playing tabletop games, this place is great. Everyone Ive met there has been pretty cool. Support this store.
10/10 stellar service
Great selection and awesome card selection
By hobby they mean people who want to come in and play games and collect figurines and the like. There always seems to be a big crowd of folks having fun with games. Some of the people who work there are friendly and helpful, but most seem like theyd rather be painting figurines and playing games (particularly bad because much of their stuff doesnt have prices on it). Visit it to see if its your scene and decide for yourself.
Excellent customer service!
Friendly staff. Decent selection of games.
I love coming here to build and play. Come for Pathfinder!
Love the store and the community around it. The staff is really friendly once you talk to them and they always try their best to make sure you’re getting what you need.
Cool little place that I didnt expect to find.
This is a place for nerds, the people who hang out there are accepting and welcoming folks and they cater to a wide variety of gaming interests. Magic the Gathering, Warhammer Fantasy and 40k are played there all the time with free access to gaming tables and a large selection terrain.
If you enjoy hobbies this is the place you want to be in Blacksburg!
Ever since the new location and new management at the store has become a place for everyone and a fantastic environment would recommend to everyone fantastic store.
This was a cool place. I wish they had a better board game collection
Great place to play tabletop games and get the stuff to play them at a fair price
Great shop and events!
So frustrated.... came here on my way to my relatives place to get dice for my cousins Christmas present, she just started playing dnd. I verified multiple times online this was open till 10, even called around 9:40pm on my way over, but it was too late, didnt get an answer. In the future, itd be awesome if you guys advertise online if youre going to close early. I would have planned accordingly if so. :(
Great staff. Good place to play MTG, 40K, Pathfinder
Always pretty friendly and knowledgeable.
My girlfriend and I came in just to look around and the staff was very rude and condescending. After explaining that we were just looking around the guy working impatiently says to us “well if you’re just looking around I’m going to get back to my game.” He then went and sat down at a table and loudly proclaimed to the other people with him, “just somebored college kids.” Like, sorry to inconvenience you with my presence, my bad dude
This is definitely THE game store and local hangout to come to over in Blacksburg, whether you like CCGs such as Magic & PokEmon, Comic books, Board games (Both traditional games, as well as the newest and best around), Miniature Games, Role Playing Games (Table Top, Larps, or the video game kind), or just to come buy reasonably priced art supplies or simply hang out!
Overall its a great place to learn to play any of the major tabletop hobby games. There are regular groups that play Magic: The Gathering, Dungeons and Dragons, and Warhammer. I personally play DnD, and its probably the friendliest place in town to play and meet others, with two nights a week dedicated to playing individual encounters, one especially geared to new players. The runners of these campaigns are fantastic. The Warhammer events seem well-run as well. The store owner also seems willing to allot time to individuals wishing to have a place to play there own campaign or board game.As far as the retail side, its a great place to get pewter miniatures or other non-dnd games. Theyve been a tad slow in the past getting the latest DnD books, but if your just planning to walk in the store to get a new-release book, pay the lowest price possible, and go home, youre obviously better off going to Amazon. What makes this place unique is the ability to interact with other players that play the games that are the whole reason to go to the store anyway. Whenever I want to get a new gaming item, I use this store because I like to support the stores unique use as a gathering and gaming place.
The best hobby shop in the NRV
Great edh/commander environment every Wednesday
Youll love it if youre into it
Unprofessional and unwelcoming.Every time I go here, I am reminded why I never want to give them my money. Its like, who is even operating this store? Oh, probably one of the guys playing Magic and not paying a bit of attention to anything else.
The new location is great
Very accommodating
