I got my car in late sept. and within 2 weeks i had transmissions issues, going to Aamco was good choice because they figure out the issue within moments of having my car, it did take a little time for them to fix it because that’s the closest Aamco beside Hackensack in this area, but i can’t agree more with one of the manager mike i believe his name is said “the good news is you called the right place, but the bad news is you called the right place” meaning they are busy, but i must say it is worth it because my car has been running smoother then even before i every drove it. i would definitely recommend them if you need help with transmission issues.

TimeLine-(friday-monday) My Husband made me an appointment 8/06/2021 (Friday), when calling to check on my vehicle, I was told it may get looked at Saturday, Possibly Monday (which defeats the point of having an appointment ) all day Saturday I wait, as time pass by I realize No call or anything..., Monday arrives and the Rep Ben calls my husband, stating that I needed a new transmission, my husband informs Ben that he’ll see if I would like to move forward with the repair and that I would be making the decision, Ben stated ok that her understood …fast forward I go to amaco to pick up the vehicle and pay the fee for checking the trans...this when it gets weird!, so im just going to break down in order because I don’t want this to happen to anyone else ! Especially Women! Because I see a lot of past reviews(Kamla Gangadin,Daisy,David, Donovan, Rabat,wellington,Howard,Kamla,Taimur,Taherra,Reese )Reviews all have the same issues which is no coincidence referring to having a male company to not be ripped off which needs to be investigated and will be ..moving forward.. So here goes my trip to amaco… I go inside I wait for a little not a long time, I was called over to the desk by Ben, he asked me what car was I there to pick up, I Stated the Vehicle and he said that he spoke with my husband and what was my decision I stated to him that I would be taking the vehicle home because I dont make impulsive decisions, before praying & checking my finances, after I said that to Ben He offers financing with 0 interest, I said Thank you but, right now no thank you, he asked why its no interest ... I said can’t run my credit im in the process of purchasing a Home,and ill be buying a new car soon, he stated that who wants a car note i said lucky for me ill be paying cash if anything, just unsure of what vehicle i want rn, he goes to say if you buy a 3k or 4k car you should just get the new trans i he asked me how much i paid for the car i said it was a gift when that didnt work he said no one wants a car note i said yeah i’ll be closing out on --ill post the rest in next review in photos the review is too long to post

I own a 2011 Cadillac Escalade which was in need of a transmission. After searching around for a day or so I found AAMCO of Bloomfield. A family owned and operated business. Apon my arrival I was greeted by Dawn who was very pleasant & attentive when it came to assessing the complaints of my vehicle. Shortly after I was contacted by Mike who was also very attentive & helpful as he described step by step what the next few procedures were going to be. Mike presented to me a breakdown of 3 different options to choose from which included 3 different levels of warranty & even an option to finance my repairs. I chose to go with the re-manufactured option as it was the more cost effective route & faster turnaround. Never have I felt so comfortable making such a decision. Ive been in shops that try pushing certain services to scam you out of a few hundred dollars... Not here! The diagnostic charge was waved after agreeing to move forward with the repair. As promised by Mike it took exactly 5 days for me to get my baby back & better than ever! Extremely happy with the service provided by Mike & his team! They have definitely gained a new & loyal customer with me!

This was my first experience doing business with this Amoco location but whenever I have transmission trouble Amoco is where I go the service is a little bit pricey but its worth it Mike seems like a really good guy he gave us several options of payment even offered us financing options as well. Engine light was always on. Totally ripped me off. They kept the car for weeks! I had to pay for a rent a car. They charged me a lot of money to “ fix” my car. A few days later they engine light was on again and they told me that it needed a new engine.

My check engine light was on for over year because I love to procrastinate. I took my car into Aamco for diagnosing the issue and repair. Mike was in contact with me since day 1 of dropping my vehicle off until the car was ready for pickup. He explained what each issue was in-depth and told me which was a priority to fix now, and which one could wait a bit. I have no knowledge about cars and was scared I would get taken advantage of with price and unnecessary repairs, however Mike put me at ease. He completed all repairs and did tell me that one issue may require a second fix and the check engine light would go back on (It did, I’ll see you seen Mike hahaha)All in all, I am extremely pleased with the service I received and will definitely bring my car back in for future service and repairs.

Getting a flat on your Saturday afternoon with your full family in the car is never easy, but luckily we were in the area and went to our trusted friends at our local Aamco to help us. When we got there, the door was locked and we thought we were out of luck, but the owner even though he had already closed, reopened the shop to make sure he could help us swap the tire and we could enjoy the rest of our day trouble free. I took my car there on a Saturday morning and was told it would be looked at Monday afternoon. 3pm Monday afternoon and no call or update. So i call and owner Mike is very condescending saying they wont be able to get to it til Tuesday morning. It seemed like he didnt want my business anyway as he kept suggesting i pick up the car if i didnt like it. Very unprofessional. I told him i would pick car up and hung up on him. He then has the nerve to be offended and call me back to ask why i hung up on him. I went to pickup my car within the hour and all of a sudden my car was allegedly going to be checked soon. I did not go there for a personal favor but as a paying customer. I packed up my kids and went home. Waste of a weekend. Dont waste peoples time if your not equipped for the volume of work and then act like your doing them a favor. I hope all AAMCO locations are not like this one. I would not recommend. I will visit another AAMCO where hopefully they know how to treat people. Thats the best part about America. You spend your money where you feel welcome.

Seemed to busy for them to handle, there is no parking except a Valero gas station and when asked to move in the garage they put it off dont let your vehicle get towed, they also would not give me a price for a simple transmission fluid change in my opinion these guys will take u for a very expensive ride

I read a lots of good reviews for this place. I went in at 10 am. I drove about 12-15 miles from home to go specifically this place. I was told that I would get my car back same day. Couple of hours go by I hear nothing from them. So I decided to call around 4 pm. They won’t give me the mechanic who took my vehicle. Finally after couple of calls I got hold of the guy around 6, he goes to tell me that he didn’t even the time to look at my car. Like I wasted my whole day and money going back and forth by Uber . He assured me that I would have the car back by end of the day. Really bad customer service.

Don’t waste your time coming to this location!!! Made an appointment to dropped of my car for a simple transmission fluid change.. they didn’t even look at my car!!!!! It was there for 8 hours and NOTHING was done! Instead of calling me and telling me they won’t have time to look at it.. no they wasted my time! I took a day off from work for nothing.. What’s the point of making an appointment if your “backed up with other cars”? what a joke!!!!!

I must say I usually don’t trust mechanics but mike here at AAmco Mike made my experience a lot easier and a lot more comforting. I brought him a Tahoe that I bought off craigslist for a very cheap price. He helped me understand what I needed to do to fix it. The owner tries to push you a few thousand dollar repair when my car didnt need it. I only needed a transmission fluid change which the car never had. I took my car to another transmission place and they serviced my car and checked the transmission and said there was nothing wrong that he could see even after driving it for 30mins himself. The owner of AAMCO on Bloomfield Ave in Bloomfield is very pushy....which is very unprofessional.

WARNING! Monday 10/15/18 I made an appointment with Mike to have my transmission flushed, because it was suggested by Jiffy Lube. I wanted to go to a place that specialized in transmissions, so I contacted AAMCO. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY. I explained that I needed a transmission flush, and Mike went on about an (unnecessary $63) point inspection to determine any issue that may be wrong with the car. Keep in mind I ONLY needed a transmission flush and to find out if my vehicle was having any transmission problems. I already knew about the additional repairs that needed to be performed. I also explained that I needed my car back before 1pm which is why I booked an appointment instead of just randomly dropping it off. My appointment was at 9am today Friday, October 19 and I called at 1pm. He explained that they have not preformed the flush and that he still needs to drive the car. Yet, he found time to complete the costly point inspection that I didnt need. He couldnt even tell me whether there were any problems with my transmission. COMPLETE WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY!

After going to Toyota dealership them telling me I needed a brand new transmission on my Toyota Tacoma which would’ve cost me well over $5000 for a rebuilt transmission I went to Mike seeking more type of help and maybe an explanation why this happened, after dealing with Mike he did everything above and beyond to try and save this transmission and lo and behold after myself and him doing some research my car only needed a program update on my transmission which Toyota failed to find!!! So now my truck is up and running better than it did when it was brand new I did not need a new transmission only needed a program and he found the leak where it was coming from which was a transfer case and saw that a power steering pump was leaking and he fixed it all and He saved me well over $5000 !!! I could not of asked for a more pleasant honest and reliable and reasonable person then Mike Zirlo I Aamco... when I had left the truck with him I was looking at a used transmission or a rebuilt one for at $5000 plus and he still said let me try one more thing and he could’ve just said you need a new transmission and I would’ve never of known! He told me Vinnie Come and pick your truck up I think it’s fixed but I want to make sure you’re happy he let me drive it for three days after he reprogrammed it and low and behold it was fixed! I had trouble with my truck they did the transmission. The transmission did not last one year, it was back there again.They charger me more money to get another transmission instead of honoring it. After they repair the transmission the second time, the next month it was back there again.They are bad news.Mike is very bad for business, dont deal with these people at AAMCO every month some things goes wrong with this so call new transmission they installed, and my truck is only five years old this is very sad. Dont listen to what Mike said. He is a big liar, stay away from AAMCO in Bloomfield, New Jersey

I would have to agree with Reese {This place is ridiculous I would let my car sit and rot before I would ever take my car here again the. The main person there named Mike is the worse he doesnt listen to anything he just does what he wants or what he feels like to your car and expect you to pay He just keep pushing and pushing and using scare tactics to try to make u see it his way and then hit you with hidden fees when time to pay}I had a brake issue that ran me $1800, which was fine since the whole system was rusted. The transaction was fine and I did take advantage of his space since I went on vacation leaving my truck for a week. I picked up my truck everything was fine until I got home and all the brake fluid leaked out. We all are human, right! Mike fixed it no problem however he advised that the truck overheated and that I needed a water pump. This is where the trouble began. Prior to my meeting Mike I had the water pump replaced by my mechanic of over 20 years. Now to bring the story backwards I advised Mike in the first meeting that I choose his place since my mechanic of over 20 years passed away and additionally the truck broke down in front of his place.His charge if there are no further issues would be little over $700. Without revealing the pump install or questioning the pricing I took my truck to Campus Exxon, East Orange. The mechanic there questioned who told me I needed a water pump it looks new.This happened June 2018 and I am still driving this truck daily with 0 issues.I decided to make this post because I get several calls from AAMCO quality control and halfway thru my story the agent places me on hold then hangs up.

Too expensive and the customer service is not good.

Mike... Real scam artist...they try to screw up your car more so you wont be able to take your car anywhere else and squeeze money out of you any way possiable...and definitely needs a attitude adjustment.... all these 5 star reviews are 100% from friends and family.... STAY AWAY FORM THEM.....and this business!!!!!!

What can I say. I had to tow my LExus Hybrid RX450 2011 in after my cars engine and hybrid transmission light turned on. Car wouldn’t even start... after calling few places and checking out google reviews, I decided to take my car to Aamco in Bloomfield. Long story short, Mike walk me thru the multiple options that were available for my transmission replacement. I end up getting the 3 yr unlimited mileage (no one else offers that kinda warranty from what I found in my research). It’s more expensive but totally worth for the piece of mind. Mike is a master in his trade. In fact, he could be great at any thing with his work ethics. His team is Totally professional and what’s best about him is that he answers to all your concerns x10. I hope I never have to deal with transmission issues but who ever needs it, should def use Aamco in Bloomfield. To be honest I had my concerns about going to Ammco given that I had a hybrid transmission and thought it is only to be looked at by LExus ... boy! Am I glad that I didn’t go to the money pit. They prob would have quoted me more than what the car is worth. So far I have driven 1800 miles on my new (used transmission) and fingers crossed it’s running smoothly. Thanks MIke! The staff was professional and nice. The owner was very involved and professional as well. I liked that they were very honest with the time frame of when the repairs would be completed. I was able to use a coupon on my repairs which was awesome and helped my pockets a lot and even received a free car wash coupon. I would be the first to say that mechanics are just trying to rip you off, but I have to say I did not feel that way about this shop. I do plan on returning with future car issues.Joelle B.

This place is ridiculous I would let my car sit and rot before I would ever take my car here again the. The main person there named Mike is the worse he doesnt listen to anything he just does what he wants or what he feels like to your car and expect you to pay for it he doesnt understand no or not at this time maybe later he just keep pushing and pushing and using scare tactics to try to make u see it his way and then hit you with hidden fees when time to pay I would say he did this cause Im a female but I have come across men as well that said this place is the worst and the business practice is shiesty. Im going to do my best to warn people of this place

After taking my RR to a specialist, who was trying to overcharge me for a transmission kit replacement, I found Aamco online, and from the initial phone conversation with Tevin, his customer service was outstanding and that only continued in person. They were able to fix my issue for half the price - I would take my RR back there without question.

Absolute gems! I had a total brain malfunction and accidentally left my keys in the ignition and the car battery running while I was working, like a brilliant human... and while I was thrilled the car was still there when I got back to the car, I wasnt surprised when it wouldnt turn on. But I didnt know what to do! I was parked right Bloomfield Ave (anyone familiar with the area - you know how hard it is to even walk into your car without a car flying by) so I couldnt have anyone jump me. Saw the AAMCO and thought maybe it was worth a shot. Not only did they help me incredibly quickly at the end of the day, but Mike, who came to jump me, wouldnt even accept compensation for the amazing help. I think the quality of a repair shop is measured largely on the quality of the people who work there, and these guys are the best. Thank you guys again, you really saved the day!!

Great professional and honest service- I had never been to them before.The transmission on my suv completely gave out. They had a flat bed at my location within an hour. Mike, the owner, looked over the vehicle and said i need a new transmission. He located the item and explained all the options. I was informed every step of the way. They also had the car repair earlier than they stated in the quote. I was completely satisfied with the service that Mike and his team performed. I would highly recommend this shop if you have an issue.

Fixing a transmission is not cheap anywhere youd go, Mike went the extra mile to make sure I was good throughout the process including multiple phone calls so I can choose what to do to fix different problems. If youre going to spend big bucks on fixing your transmission mind as well have a piece of mind and do it right with the right people, no scams and evreything is laid out infront of you. Mike even set me up with a credit line to pay for the fix and extended my warranty. Mike is honestly a great guy I will take any vehicle to him any day. I brought my car to this AAMCO because my car had been making a groaning sound that slowly got worse over time. I had previously taken my car to 2 other mechanics and they had failed to diagnose the problem, and Mike and Bernie at the Bloomfield AAMCO were the ones to correctly identify the problem (it was the brakes) and repair it. They were very patient with answering my many questions, and they did excellent work on my car. I was very pleased with their service, and I highly recommend this shop for their competence, honesty, and excellent customer service.

The Customer Service at AAMCO on Bloomfield Ave was exceptional.I was very upset about my check engine light coming on and Mike and his team were awesome .They fixed my car and it was ready within a few hours and it rides so smooth now.I called 4 times throughout the day to check on my car, spoke to 4 different people and EVERY SINGLE TEAM MEMBER WHO ANSWERED WAS SO KIND.It was almost unbelievable.They kept me posted every step of the wayI would highly recommend AAMCOThank you Mike, Amir, and Josh .

I called and Mike answered . My EPC indicator light on the Audi went on. No walk-ins at Audi Millburn. Said hed look at it before he closes at 1:00pm. There were quite a few issues but he agreed to reset the indicator. Allowing me a bit of comfort. I appreciate his professional customer first approach. I will go back for maintenance and follow up if necessary.

I called AAMCO in (638 Bloomfield Ave.) Bloomfield, NJ and asked how much a transmission repair cost as I was told by an auto shop that my car needs a transmission fix. I was told (by David of AAMCO) that they need to run tests to see if the transmission is the problem, and to bring the car in. I dropped off my car and told David that the car drives fine when I drove it from home to their shop (but also relayed what my daughter said she felt with the car, the car hesitates at times) except the mild sound of which the muffler I know will need fixing. Got a call at my work in the school (from owner Mike) and was told transmission needs to be replaced and he gave me price quotes, which we decided on a price for a used transmission with a warranty, and he said he’ll order the transmission, but I need to deposit $1000 before the work can be done. It was decided that I was to stop by the next day afternoon to pay the deposit. Got another call at work from Mike the next day morning, he said there was a mistake in the price quote and need a $200 increase, which triggered a little doubt in me, but I did not heed my instinct. I paid Mike the deposit and on pick up day paid the balance of the $2992.21 total for an old transmission with warranty (had to find a ride to be drop off as it was far from where I live), and was told to return the car in 10 days for recheck (and was given a list of more things the car needs for future fixing aside from the muffler I know about).As soon as I drove my car away from the parking lot outside AAMCO shop (it was closing time), my car was worse than when I dropped it off for fixing. My car DROVE WEAK, there’s a smell of burned smoke, and the worst part, my car WAS VIBRATING AND SHAKING just like when you are inside an airplane with a turbulence, and the SOUND WAS MUCH LOUDER THAN BEFORE COMING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. My car is not being used, it’s only left parked on my parking lot, as I have another car I used for everyday use and work.I returned before the 10 days recheck to AAMCO (the inconvenience of finding a ride again to get to home from my very busy schedule), and notified AAMCO (David) of the problem, that my car WAS WORST FROM WHEN I DROPPED IT OFF TO THEM, and my car is not even used, just parked.I got a call after 2 days from owner Mike who stated the car has an exhaust problem, and that he is aware that the car is not being used. I debated on letting them fix the car, but I was afraid to move the car to another location because the problem might get worst from further driving. I was having doubt on their capability as auto mechanics and trust is another issue, but I do not want the car ruin, so I gave it another chance which I now regretted. Mike gave a quote of $575 for the exhaust and the muffler which he said might be $100 less at the final balance since they will be just creating the muffler from scratch. Got a call a few days from Mike that the car is ready for pick up, and he said the final bill is $575. I asked him what happened to the $100 less, he said, $575 is the final price. I told him to include the coupon discount received from the email, which then came to $512. What happened to the $100 less as discussed before? It was sales talk.I still do not use my car but turns it on every now and then. The sound is still there not as loud, but the big thing is my CAR STILL VIBRATES AND SHAKES! If I bring my car back to AAMCO, there will be other things wrong, when the problem is not even fixed, which means more money out from my pocket to their bank. There should be quality control, so customers are protected such as the Better Business Bureau keeping close eye of businesses.

I thought I needed a new transmission, so I sought out the folks at AAMCO in Bloomfield. From the start, the staff was attentive and informative and that didnt change throughout the length of the process. Mike and Amir were very helpful and communicative about any progress they were making or findings they came across regarding my car. Turns out that I didnt need to replace or rebuild the trans and the repair was much simpler and less costly than effective. They were very straightforward about the repair and communicated their intentions clearly.Sure there were a couple of bumps in the road with timing and parts and such, but thats to be expected in any repair situation. I would highly recommend repairs at AAMCO in Bloomfield. They did a great job and had GREAT customer service.
