Stopped in to find a decent starter pipe, got a great Missouri Meerschaum cob for a decent price and a good tin of pipe tobacco to go along with it which I’m loving. The gentleman working was super helpful as well! Gonna have to try a cigar next time I stop by, looked like a great selection.

Great place for pipe tobacco and cigars. They also have a lot of pipes and lighters. Such a big selection of cigars. Very knowledgeable staff. This was my first time in but will likely become my go to place.

With the best selection of cigars on the East-Side of the Metro, The Cigar Merchant must be your go-to. Its a bit of a drive for me, but id never go anywhere else for cigars or pipe tobacco. The staff is friendly and glad to help you find an old favorite or something new to try. (9/28/21 - Masks are currently required to enter the business.)

Havent had a cigar in years so I stop by. Great selection of very top quality cigars for all different tastes. Cant say enough about the staff, very friendly and helpful for a novice like myself. Highly recommend.

Most relaxing environment ever. On one visit I experienced car troubles, no questions after that but we are here.I do love that they support batared women shelters in the KC area. It is sad that they are needed on the first place.A 5 star isnt high enough but that is all that is allowed.Keep doing all that you do. Looking forward to my next visit.

Stopped by to pick up a few sticks while I was in town for work. Im still pretty new to cigars, so Ive only been to a few shops, most of which are back home in GA. That being said, the selection offered at The Cigar Merchant was mind blowing! The staff was super friendly, incredibly helpful, and more than happy to answer a few general questions about accessories. Part of me wishes I had a shop of this quality and magnitude back home. My bank account, however, is very happy they are located 800 miles from my front door. Keep up the good work guys, I hope I get to stop back by while were in town.

If you live east of the metro and are a pipe smoker this is the place to go. More of a cigar shop but they do have a reasonable selection of pipes, tobaccos, and accessories at midline prices. Staff is friendly and helpful (some more than others). Bought my first pipe here 15 years ago. If your passing through town they’re worth a visit. Try the Suserwald house blend if you fancy airomatics.

Great cigar and pipe shop. Large selection of quality cigars, pipes, pipe tobacco, and accessories. All priced well. There is also a cigar lounge in the basement. Staff is friendly and helpful. We were just passing through but were made welcome.

Really not impressed, their policy of you touch it, you buy it seemed a bit rude and overkill especially seeing as you are told you must use hand sanitizer as soon as you walk in the door. When asking about certain brands or kinds of cigars i was told they dont carry that and wont get them in. Prices seemed high compared to several other places ive been. Overall i would say even if i lived right nextdoor to the place i would still make the drive to go to Outlaw cigar.

Ben and Drew are awesome! They help me locate my very first cigar... Assisted me with my lighter selection for gifts.... And picked out the cigars they knew my friend would like. Excellent selection! Great people!

The Cigar Merchant is always a great place to shop! The staff has always been courteous and helpful. Several times when we were sending care packages to friends deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan the staff at Cigar Merchant took extra care to ensure the cigars were properly wrapped so they would not dry out prior to being delivered. People always remember excellent customer service! Keep up the good work!

Loved coming to this place when I first did several years ago, really glad to be able to come back today. Great selection, friendly staff, and a very relaxed shopping experience. A nice lounge in the basement makes the experience that much better. Definitely worth it to stop in and stay a while.

When you walk in, its like a different world in there. Like I jumped back in time to an old fashioned store of some type. Very cool atmosphere. Also the gentlemen who work there are very friendly and helpful. I needed help picking out a cigar for my dad and they were very accommodating. Let me know a cheaper option on a cigar I was looking at since I went in with a price range. I will definitely be back to this place when I am in need of another cigar again.

This is a great shop if you want a decent selection of cigars, pipes and accessories. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly. They will listen to your tastes and find you exactly what you need. You can easily spend an hour or more here browsing their selection. I will only go here to get pipe tobacco because they have a great selection. Buy it in bulk, get a few ounces to try or buy a high quality blend in sealed cans. Cant go wrong here.

I have been in the store multiple times. My wife also has been in to purchase gift items and was treated like they did not want her in there. My last visit I was trying to get advice on a humidor and they told me to get rid of it and buy from them even though the one I have is very good. He acted as though he knew nothing and refused to be helpful. Called another local store and they were glad to help and gave great advice. Will he going to other local stores from now on. Whoever this guy was acts like he is better than everyone else.

A fantastic, old school cigar shop with a comfortable lounge attached. The service was fantastic, and they have an awesome selection of big brands and some great smaller brands (Aladino, etc) too. I recently started going back to the merchant after a bad experience a couple years ago. The last couple times I have gone in I have gotten fantastic service. Great selection, prices seem a little high at times but they have some budget cigars if thats what you are looking for also. By far the best place I have found in the Independence - Blue springs area for cigars, pipes and accessories.

Very large selection of cigars. Also a great shop for pipe smokers. In the back corner of the shop there are 2 large display cases full of tins and another section with some house blends.Staff is very friendly and willing to help sort through the house-blends. They will also let you know if any of the blends are bulk and renamed.

Very helpful with knowledge and suggestions for my newbie taste of cigars. Set me up with everything I needed to enjoy a quality cigar occasionally.

I am very new to cigars and have many questions as well as small budget to get started with. I have bought cigars from this store before and had very pleasant conversations with the staff. As I am on a budget and new to the preservation of fine cigars I require some advise and mentoring. I met Benjamin 09/22/2014 and brought in a budget travel humidor needing Xikar solution and advise. What I received is a pompous jerk. I will likely never return to this store. I will drive the extra mileage to another establishment that does not require you to know everything or purchase only their items. I am understanding that he may have preferred I purchase from him but the fact is I did not. That fact some how banned me from gaining ANY advise on use of the fluid or humidity gel packs that I was purchasing. I am sad that someone with experience with cigars utterly refused to to help a newbie find and experience the world of cigars. I would not recommend this store to anyone .. at least while Benjamin is in the building!

I live 2 miles from The Cigar Merchant, and go in just about everyday if not every other day. I look forward to every visit. I first walked in as a cigar novice and received a warm welcome and all the advise I could handle. Now I feel like family.

Store had a decent selection, but the people who work there have been unpleasant and talk without really listening to what youre looking for. The older guy wo works there is kinda gruff and pushy and the younger guy is very high strung and opinionated. I live in Blue Springs but will be driving to Cigar Room in Lees Summit or Diebels on the Plaza from now on.

When I buy my cigars,99% of the time this is where I purchase them. Friendly service and plenty to choose from.

Used to come here frequently. After a break of several months, I went back and found that they stopped carrying Alec Bradley cigars, a brand that makes many of my favorites. When I asked why they stopped carrying them, the person working just shrugged at me. Didnt make any suggestions on similar products to try or anything that would have felt like customer service. That attitude is why people buy things on the internet instead of in stores.

Best selection I have found in the area. The service was okay, nothing to get excited about. This is my go to shop for the time being.

If I could leave 0 stars I would . I went into the store to purchase an anniversary gift for my husband. I had my toddler son with me as I have no one to watch him while I run errands . Upon entering the store I was greeted with a disgusted look and a sarcastic can I help you. I told him I wanted to find something for my husband and then was told that because I didnt have anything specific that I wanted that I basically needed to take my child out. He beat around the bush and rudely said well they just changed the laws the bla bla bla but I dont have a problem with it. If you dont have a problem with it then why say anything at all. Instead he was rude unprofessional and lost out on a large sale considering I was willing to spend quite a bit of money and a long term customer. There was no obvious signage on the door what so ever . Definitely not how you should run a business or allow your employees to treat customers.
