This was my first visit to The Great Escape. I was extremely impressed with the large volume of products on display. I visited to glance at hot tubs and walked out a hot tub owner. Matt (salesman) greeted me while I was looking at the hot tubs and answered all of my questions and much more! I will definitely be visiting again for patio furniture.
The Great Escape Boardman is a great place to get things that will enhance both your life and your backyard. Its the only place I go for hot tubs and the chemicals needed. Also they have many options for outdoor sitting areas. I am sitting on one right now writing this review on my phone, comfortably - 5 Stars 100%
Bought a pool in Feb. Delivered in July. Ok with that. There was a hole in liner from get go. Called they said they would fix it. Now it is Sept 23.and still nothing. Water is green algae getting in my pump and filter. Bab bad service. Called 8x in last 4 weeks said they would get a hold of installers immediately.
I am very satisfied with service I experienced at Great Escape located in Boardman, Ohio.Interior Designer Michaelene Ritz, understood what I was looking for, worked with me to find the perfect outdoor table and chairs for our deck. She exceeded my expectations!I plan to visit this store again for future purchases.
Great experience purchasing a hot tub! Justin treated us great and very knowledgeable!
Very pleased with this company. From thie time we purchased a house with a pool to now with purchasing a new one online. No high pressure sales tactics. Just good old-fashioned customer care. Always knowledgeable, they never tried to sell us anything we didnt need.
Very informative and helpful; low pressure, worked to give honest etimates of budget and timeframe.
Delivery crew was friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Went smooth.
The prices arent bad, the workers are helpful. The pool testing is highly effective!
Only thing about this experience is the price. Was told 2 weeks when i ordered the pool. I finally emailed them finally because they failed to call or email me about any delays. Not happy at all.Was also getting a hot tub also but i think Ill be getting that some where else.
Fantastic quality, worth the wait, excellent service both in store, delivery, and set up. Chris at the Aurora store was great to work with.
This is my 2nd complaint over the same item. We bought a pool table in Feb....$5,000! 1st complaint, cracked leg and pockets had nails bent back which chipped the balls. So, we waited until May because pockets were on back order. They came today to install them only to find out that they were taken from a display model and they were the wrong ones! Never!! Will we purchase another thing from you!
Very good with buying our first pool. Just wish they could install sooner but we know its in high demand
First time in this store for me they have a lot of nice out side furniture to choose from we were there about 30 mins lookin to see all that they have in short time we were asked if we help we said just looking at this point .prices very to just what your looking for very please the people there we ended up buying a certain umbrella we been looking for other stores were either out or dont carrie it..
Good help and plenty of supplies in stock.
These guys are awesome!! Recommend them to anyone!!! Can’t wait for my pool!!! 😊
Plenty of supplies and small accessories for pool pumps and filters. All chemicals were in stock and priced reasonably.
Matt Harrison helped us with the purchase of our Oasis pool. He was very knowledgeable, patient, and through, from start to finish. I would recommend Matt and The Great Escape to all our friends and family. Best decision we have ever made! Thanks again!
We came in curious about getting a hot tub.. I think we asked every question in the book, but they had every answer! Steve and the staff were so nice and welcoming! They are all very knowledgeable about every detail in their products. Everything they sell is top notch. I can’t wait to try out our new hot tub 😆🥳
Excellent selection of products, nice layout, and friendly staff.
We recently purchased a pool and hot tub with Ken at Great Escape in youngstown. We are very happy with kens knowledge and customer service. Its great not to feel like just another customer! thank you ken for treating us like we mattered! we will be back once everything gets installed!
6 months to get a hot tub is not acceptable to me. Place was okay. Salesman didnt put on too much pressure. But Im not sure Id buy it from these guys
We purchased our pool in May of this year, Justin was great, pool was delivered on time and both delivery guys were absolutely great. Only giving 4 stars due to we were told it would be installed July 10th but have received no communication from installer yet. I do however understand the high demand for pool installations this year due to many reasons. We tore our 20 year old pool, deck and landscaping down 2 weeks ago in preparation for the new install. If your reading this the site is ready and needs very little prep work for new installation. Communication would be great and Installation sooner rather than later would be awesome!!We buy ALL of our supplies from Great Escape in Boardman and will continue to purchase everything from them In the future. Knowledgeable staff, great selection and the best supplies on the market!!
Good customer service.
Over priced doesnt honor warranties bought a pool pump for second time and it only lasted a year if you count the 8 months not using tried to get it replaced they give us a couple parts and say that should take care of it thank God Im handy or we would be sol
Great place to check out outdoor options.
Lots of choices, just not what I was looking for today.
Im pretty critical when it comes to how Im treated when I go to places like this, because I am also in a customer care position. That being said this place definitely exceeded my already high expectations. It was 10 minutes to closing (on a Sunday no less) and I had quite a few questions. I was greeted with a smile and sincere hello! (Awesome. already off to a good start.) I address my consultant and tell him exactly what Im looking for. We walk to the back where the spas are, he shows me a few, and I pretty much unload every question you can think of. He answered everything I asked and then some. No condescending tone, no high pressure sales tactics, he was even upfront about delivery charges ( I live out of the area). They are friendly, patient, they listen to their customers, take into account every concern, and treat you with the utmost respect. They definitely earned my business and I would highly recommend them to anyone.
Quality and prices both are exceptional.
Great customer service. They were basically out of anything I wanted to buy, hence the low rating. If you need pool supplies early in the season I may go here. If later in the season Id think about maybe visiting somewhere else.
Its the best pool and spa place to go visit and to see all the merchandise that they have in their showroom! The staff is more than wonderful and willing to give you time and help you through your purchases and definitely what you need. Thank you all
Recently purchased furniture from the Great Escape in Boardman. I could not be happier with my choice and the service was great. The staff is always pleasant and ready to help without being too pushy. My wife and I made our decision after returning several times and never once felt overly pressured. Great sales experience.
Took my spa water there to get tested as other local stores were closed....The knowledge and time they spent with me was priceless, I will be back here for sure. Great service.
Looking at outdoor furniture nice place
Very knowledgeable about their products! Great help, great prices, and my new hot tub is GREAT!
Such a vast selection of patio furniture and hot tubs. We were even able to purchase our pool supplies. Its a backyard Oasis one-stop shop for sure. If you are looking for quality outdoor furniture the great escape is the place. Big discount chains may have a lower price but you will get what you pay for and sacrifice quality for price. What good is the investment if you end up replacing it every year. The sales staff was helpful but not pushy. A very positive experience.
Buyer beware, installation will not happen when they tell you. It most likely be a month or longer then what you are quoted, regardless of the weather. Had my pool delivered 3 weeks ago, and still waiting for installation, only have had one day of rain, poor customer service or care after the sale, for sure.
Was a great experience
Friendly service and a ton of cool stuff there!
Gotta say I went here to purchase pool chemicals as a last resort because nothing was working. After much trial and error had no clue what I was supposed to buy. These guys really know their stuff. My pool was crystal clear within a few days thanks to Ken and all the staff at the Great Escape. I spent a fortune at other pool stores trying to get rid of the cloudiness from overwintering and all this rain but nothing worked. Thanks to the guys at the Great Escape, I am confident that our Memorial Day cookout will be perfect.
After visiting their new store I was very impressed with the space and layout. We bought a pool from them four years ago and have always been treated with courtesy and respect. They have the most helpful and knowledgeable staff of employees. We will definitely be shopping there soon for our new patio furniture, they have a fantastic selection. And when our sunroom is finished, a spa! Thank you for making our shopping experience so enjoyable!
Very nice and helpful employees very cool store
Largest selection of patio furniture in the area! The presentation is nice and the sales associates are very helpful and knowledgeable. The prices are higher but all of the furniture seems like it will last a long time.
Bought a pool and had it delivered before mothers day and its still sitting in the box! We have called the store 3 times to see whats going on. Always the same story blaming it on the weather. Yes I understand we have had horrible weather but my complaint is no one calls or contacts you to let you know what is going on! I shouldnt have to keep calling and checking to see when my pool will be installed! When we purchased the pool the salesman told us that it usually is installed a week after the pool is delivered. Well since the pool was delivered in May we are way past that point! If I would have known it would take over a month to get a pool installed I would have went elsewhere! Each time I call the store they tell me I should get a call from the installer next week! That was 4 weeks ago!We had a pool party scheduled for this Fri for my daughter and mothers birthday...looks like that will not be happening! I guess I should have read the reviews before I purchased my pool from here! Just writing this review to maybe spare someone else from having this issue! Im definitely not happy with the service we have received from this place yet! If I could return the pool and go elsewhere I definitely would! Shop around before purchasing a pool also read reviews before making such a huge purchase! I think this company should only sell the number of pools they are able to handle with installation ect!
If there was a lower rating I would give it that. My family and I walked in to purchase a pool, I asked the salesman if he could show us to the pools. He pointed and said “back there” he was obviously annoyed because yes, we walked in about 30 min before close but we just simply had a few questions because we had already done our homework. The prices are ridiculous high and I asked the guy about a price match. (I already knew they did because it’s plastered all over the website) he said no, we don’t do that. I told him that they do and it was all over the website. He continued to say that they don’t until I told him to get his manager. He walked back with his tail between his legs and said yeah I guess you’re right 🤦🏻♂️. I asked him how much it would cost to replace a panel of one started to rust. His response, “I don’t know you’ll have to look at our website and find out.” Well, this did me in I told him that I could have done all this at home. I apparently know more about his pools than they did. What a wasted hour round trip of my time. Looks like my cash money is going somewhere else.
They dont tell you that if live a little too far away that will have to pay even for warranty work because of trip charge. To make it worse they will also sell you extended warranty and that should cover something but still have trip charge for that. If we did that at our business our owner would fire us and cover whatever was needed to keep happy customers but not there. Be Careful as they just want your money!
I was lost in the store, theres such a great selection to choose from and I just couldnt figure out what I wanted. Michealene came out of nowhere like a professional wrestler RKOing me with knowledge that left a hole in my pocket and a Patio loaded full of goodies. Half the stuff I didnt even want but she was spitting knowledge at me like Eminem in Rap God.Good place will shop again 👍
Over priced
My family purchased a pool in 2011 from great escapes. The salesman called it an on the ground pool. The pool was set in the ground 3 ft. With 2 ft. exposed. We began to have leaks in spring of 2016. Had them repaired and swam all summer. By February of this year, the pool began to loose water. We called and sent pictures to great escapes from mid March on. No one has called or even addressed our problem . When we speak to sales people, they are rude and just continue to blame installers. We want everyone to know that they do not stand behind their products. Please go somewhere else!!!
In response to RaeAnn Brents review... We bought our pool this year as well and have had terrible rain on and off all summer long so far. Called the store and they said that each day it rains, it pushes back the install date a day. So far, we have had a lot of days of rain, so we are getting pushed back a day each rain we have. The store salesman keep reassuring me that it will get installed just to give it time. I wouldnt recommend going anywhere else to get a pool because I have a friend who bought their pool a few years ago, and they have had no issues with The Great Escape since. It took more than a week for him as well due to weather, but he also assured me that it got installed in a timely manner when they were finally able to get out to him! 10/10 would recommend these guys! They know what they are doing and will help anyone who goes in or calls to ask!!
If I could give this joke of a place less than a 1 star, I would.SOME of the staff here is very knowledgeable; but some are also very rude and ignorant and you can tell they are usually in a rush to get you out of there unless you are looking to buy something.I purchased my pool here a few years ago and everything seemed to go so easily and the staff seemed really helpful. I thought this would be a great place for me to purchase a pool, and maybe eventually a spa. Everything eventually got installed and I was a little unhappy with installation due to various reasons, such as the workers would help themselves to the food in my garage refrigerator and them blasting music in our backyard, and eventually the neighbors called the authorities, but I thought over it and was hoping everything else was going to be smooth sailing. The store provides their own chemicals and they are pretty good pricing if you know what you want. But when it comes to the water testing you would be afraid to ask. The staff gets incredibly rude and wants to send you out of the store and will make up an excuse of why your water test won’t be accurate. This year it was time to close, and I was going to get a closing kit for my pool and they talked to me for a bit and one of the workers told me he had them in the back. So I waited and he eventually came back with this generic white box with writing on it. I was quite sceptical about this because I didn’t know exactly what I was getting. So I rang out and was going to go close my pool. I didn’t have any instructions so I was calling them to find out what I should do. The phone rang and rang and they eventually picked up and all you could hear is laughing in the background and the man speaking to me couldn’t even keep his composure, and it took 15 minutes just for the instructions, and then I found that I was missing chemicals from the kit, so I had to drive all the way back out there to get something that the worker had forgot to put in there. The list goes on and on about the horror stories I and other people I know have about this store, and I COMPLETELY reccomend you go somewhere else because you definitely don’t want to deal with this place. Everything they do is lazy and the workers there are terrible unless you’re interested in spending big bucks. 0 Stars.
Once they sale you a pool and you go back for something the manager doesn’t care about you or your concerns, they only care about selling pools to new customers, the manager is rude
Matt was very helpful. When it comes to this location he is the one to go to.
My wife and I went into this store yesterday looking to purchase a firepit. When we asked Michaelene if they provided free set up and delivery as virtually everyone else in the area does, she initially said yes as long as our purchase was $1000 or more. We said great! Then, after we found one we liked, we were suddenly told that there would still be a sixty dollar delivery charge to deliver it to our house, literally about four miles away. When asked why and if the delivery charge could be waived on a $1200 item, we were curtly told thats the way the contract is and that we could basically take it or leave it, although, to be honest, it felt more like, or... you can shove it!After asking if she could ask the owner about it since they apparently do offer free delivery when they choose to do so, we were told, Nah, I already know the answer! When I insisted that she ask, she told me that she would call back in the morning but that the answer would still be no. We should have paid more heed to other shoppers and just walked away right then, but, live and learn!Well, surprise, surprise, as promised, we found out the next morning that the owner turned out to be as greedy as advertised. And if that wasnt enough, he then chose to take the insult to us a step higher, for good measure. You see, after we were summarily informed that it would be absolutely humanly impossible to wave the delivery charge, we were additionally informed that they were returning the firepit we chose back to the manufacturer rather than sell it to us - apparently, at any price! How about that? Sweet, eh?No wonder this store has such a well deserved low review score of 3.6. It also helps fully explain why there was virtually no one else in this store besides us on three separate occasions. Man, they sure have a LOT of other bad reviews, dont they - 15 out of 45 reviews were one or two stars (with 12 of them being one star ratings). ONE THIRD of their reviews! Gee, I wonder why? Believe me, wed give this store zero stars if that was an option. Oh wait, I see that we werent, by far, the first to come to that very same conclusion! When THAT many people have a problem with this store over this long a period of time, there is something seriously wrong there! And when they just choose to continue to do the exact same things that people dont appreciate, it becomes quite obvious that this owner is either oblivious to the criticism, or just doesnt care. Either way, hes clueless! This is really a pathetic way to run a business, particularly since there are so many other places to shop that dont make you feel like your being looked down upon like your some kind of peasant. Gosh, youd think they would have figured it out by now and would have taken all of these hints to improve, wouldnt you?As a direct result of this greed and sheer arrogance, we will now never purchase anything there. And like the suggestions of many, many others who have left negative reviews, we would also highly recommend that you shop at Sheely, Lowes, Home Depot, Pool City, Target or virtually anywhere else for your firepit! Believe me, youll be glad that you were smarter than us by saving yourself the aggravation and listening to all of those people who have left those one star reviews. They all left them for a reason, and, as we found out, they were so right!
Great serviceMatt is very very very good
The salesman was very patient with my wife and I, answered all of our questions and concerns. We are both very happy with our decision to shop at The Great Escape and are completely satisfied with the patio furniture we purchased!
Great showroom, very helpful staff.
We have had our pool for 4 years. Had to buy new resin filter case. 3 new filters and now need a new liner. Horrible customer service. Sales people have a complete lack of knowledge in pools. Im pretty sure that the installers had to of done a shitty job installing because my liner is and always has been wrinkled, and now has holes. Good luck with your purchase if you are planning on buying from these guys, youre gonna need it!!!
Great salesmen but when it comes to standing behind their products they are weak. We purchased our pool on 2012 and thought we got a great deal. We had a schedule appt for the pool to be installed. I was then given the run around by the installers. The store was no help and pretty much just acted like what do you want me to do about it. Then once installed, we had problems with the skimmer. The water was not entering the filter and I called. The guy from the store actually said to me that maybe you dont have enough water in the pool. I responded that I know I have the correct amount and in that is not the problem. I spent five minutes on the phone with a very condescending man who pretty much treated me as an uneducated dumb girl. I finally said look, I have a masters degree and I am pretty sure I would know if there wasnt enough water in my pool. I was transferred to another person who then explained to me about checking the flap to see if it was sticking. A very easy fix but for someone who never owned a pool I didnt even think of that as an issue. A year later, the plastic piece attached to our chlorinator started to leak and had a crack in it. We called and it was not covered. I was then talked down to again. They said we must not of properly stored it over winter. I said we had a company close it for us and know it was done correctly. Again, he made some stupid analogy of why its not covered. He went as far as saying maybe I hit it with my car. Smh. It wasnt even stored in the garage. The company gave us the run around from the corporate office too about replacing the part.
This place is great!
Great pool store, they have everything you need for game rooms and outside
Tested water quickly and got us the chemicals we needed
I am very disappointed with the professionalism and knowledge of how to have an adult conversation with customers. Shame on me for not reviewing the posts. I was looking for a turn-key supplier that would help me along with my first experience with a pool. I purchased equipment that I have no idea how to operate. Im so disgusted with that one person in Boardman, I am looking on Youtube to find how to connect and will not be buying the chemicals from these guys...Buyer beware when you buy from these guys. You are on your own when you buy a pool. Dont ask for additional information. (without getting attitudes). If you can handle attitude from people that sold pools for 30 years, buy from them.
My husband and I went in exactly one week before memorial day to get our water tested and buy all products as well as a new fliter. We have bought 3 pools from lite house pools and loved our pools and service. They are out of buisness and Great Escape got our information so we were told to go to them for great service.... ya right!!! Upon going in I went to stand in line at the register as there were 3 people in line ahead of me. When it was my turn, the cashier said let me wait on anyone who is checking out. I said ok but that I was in somewhat of a hurry because I had to be at work at 2pm and it was 1:10pm. About then the manager walked in as he was in a hurry and said he will take care of me. I said oh good because I am in a hurry today. He then told me and my husband that we were not the only customers they have. I told him I know that but I was waiting in line for a while and it was my turn and I have to be back to work by 2pm. At this point in the conversation I was in shock due to the attitude and poor customer service I was receiving. I had not been angy I was just letting them know I was on a time limit. Anyway, the manager then took my water from me and informed me that testing water is a free service then he told me as he looked at me I have all day long. At that point I asked him what was his issue? he then said to me like I said, I can take all day to do this if I want to as he was laughing and sarcastic. My husband had walked up at this point and heard the way the man was speaking to me and asked what is going on here and why are you talking to my wife like that? The manager then told my husband again sarcastically I have all the time in the world and he is testing the water one small drip at a time and moving very slowly. My husband who is known as a very kind and patient man leaned over the counter and dumped our water in the sink and said to me, honey we are leaving now. We then turned around and proceeded to leave, we got about 12 feet from the testing counter and my husband felt something on his head. He turned around and the manager was using a spray bottle of water and soaking my husbands face and shirt repeatedly. Then my husband went to the front of the counter and asked the man what is your problem? The manager came around the counter to my husband got into his face and stuck out his chest and informed my husband to bring it on. At that point I called 911, I spoke to the police and as this was happening the manager then was appoligizing telling my husband it was all his fault. The manager gave my husband a free 59 dollar filter and said there was no reason for the police to come. The police came anyway and we gave our account of what happened and they suggested to contact Better Buisness and place a formal complaint as well as finding a store that treats customers with respect. I never write reviews or complain but this was a horrible experience and we feel like the manager was already provoked before we entered into the store about something. This was expecially horrible as my husband has a limp due to the fact he recently had bone cancer in which his femur and half a hip was removed as well as agressive chemo-therapy! The manager of Great Escape and the service there is unexcusable and we have told all our friends and neighbors of our horribleexperience. We will never return there again. I want everyone to hear our experience so I am taking the time (that I do not really have) to write this review as well as to contact angies list and all other avenues of complaint. Please dont go to The Great Escape in Boardman Ohio. After this experience we went to Burnett Pools on Boardman-Canfield Road and had recieved EXCELLENT SERVICE.PS. I dont know if they have cameras in there store but if they do I hope the owner of this location reviews this experience, I cant imagine his reaction to such treatment of customers.
Great selection of outdoor furniture and hot tubs
This store should be shut down. They do not stand behind there products warranty and lie about what the warranty covers.I would not buy anything from this store.
Completely satisfied with my new hot tub, a little bit of information overload but overall a good experience with friendly people.
Look elsewhere, seriously just stay away from this company. Complete lack of customer service practices.
Not a lot of selection in actual pool stuff - just furniture!
Awesome service, very knowledgeable
The employees are rude.
Nice selection
Overpriced
