First off, this looks like any normal antique shop from the street. Once inside, its an absolute WAREHOUSE of antiques. We spent almost an hour searching the 3 floors of stuff! We were amazed at every nook and cranny of stuff throughout the maze of antiques. We could have spent hundreds if not thousands in there today. We saw so many things that brought us back to our childhoods, that we giggled and laughed and some stuff evoked emotions and memories about a time long gone by, that we had forgotten about. We will be going back soon, because there were many many things we regret not grabbing while we were there. Truly an amazing walk back in time!
We loved this place and got these cute hats!!!the people who work there are so nice and sweet.really nice place to lost in time!
Wow, I had no idea how big this antique store was! It went on and on. It is three floors of all kinds of different and unique items. There is lot of variety in the antiques here. Theres everything from tools and vintage dishes to childrens toys and Christmas items! Each booth renter makes their own prices, so some stuff was up to 50% off, which was nice!
This place is a lot bigger than it looks. A little of everything for everyone. The prices are reasonable and not out of this world. The staff there is just amazing, willing to help anyway they can. This will now become a regular spot for us.
It waa ok. Looked like a consignment shop with a lot of different vendors. I did purchase a cassette tape for 3.00. which was rather much. Vinyl was anywhere from 10 to 30, for used items.
If youre looking for a place to look at knick knacks, antiques, and other curious goods, Appalachian Antique Mall is the place for you. Situated on King Street, it has three floors of different things from furniture, to decor, to rustic farmhouse style antiques, and a wide array of other things. You could spend hours looking at all the things in here, and most everything is priced competitively. Definitely check this place out on your ventures in Boone!
The young girl in pink with blonde hair was extremely rude, just because i dont wear mask dont make not valuable customer. Never again.
Got some great finds! (In other words I walked out with a box full of treasures that I was SO excited about!) Plenty of Corningware to choose from which was awesome! The staff was also super friendly!
We went I here not looking for anything in particular. There are three levels of booths with anything and everything a person could want in the way of antiques, and oddities. Everyrhing from antlers and decoys to vintage clothing and dish wear. We were very pleasantly surprised. Some booths are a bit over priced, but over all this is one of the best antique stores I have ever visited. The staff was very attentive and seemed to know the business.
Huge place. Spent about 2 hours here and still didnt see it all.
Really disappointed that I had to leave a negative review for this place, as its a great store with three floors of quality antiques for decent prices. However, I cant say the same for the customer service. The other day, I browsed the store and found an excellent rotary telephone which I was very eager to buy. I brought it to the counter and asked if I could get a small discount, as it wasnt in the best condition for its price. The cashier said she had to contact the vendor to approve the discount, which seemed logical. The vendor didnt pick up, but she left a message and I gave her my name and number if they called back, and she said shed hold onto it.The next day, I came back to buy the phone, as I didnt need the discount too badly. However, the man at the counter said he wasnt sure where it was, and told me to come back tomorrow, as the woman I had dealt with previously would be there then. I did, and after asking *again*, she briefly looked for it then checked the records to find that it had been sold... the day before.Very disappointed in this lack of quality service and honesty. The hallmark of a well-run establishment is quality customer service -- something this place is starkly lacking. Will most definitely keep shopping for antiques, but hope that this place gets its act together soon.
Nice and clean antique mall. They have an assortment of antiques from folk art to old money. Definitely a place to visit the next time your in Boone NC
A very large antique store with three floors full of merchandise. Seems to be an accumulation of old things from the surrounding area in Boone. Merchandise is moderately priced but may be higher than what you are looking for. Wonderful staff that is very helpful and kind. Always seem to leave with something every time I visit.I believe some local people contribute to the mall: some booths are themed and are made or cultivated by different artisans.
A Staple must see for Boone, NC.
We always find good stuff that we dont need but are glad to be able to buy.
Bought some coins that were dated on the coin sleeve/holder and when I examined the coins after arriving home, one of them was misdated. The store would not let me exchange the coin for another of the same year I wanted nor would they give me any kind of credit. I had not opened the coin holder. They would not even contact the vendor to discuss the issue with him/her. The store was uncooperative and unresponsive. If you are looking for coins in the Boone area try Coin Junction in Banner Elk. They were friendly and the prices were way less than half of this antique mall.
We always find a coin to add to our collection!
We purchase regulary from this establishment. On June 6, 2020 we stopped and was about to go in when a lady stopped us and said masks are required to enter, a Boone City Council requirement. The requiremernts that Boone established is that the employees must adhere to the policy. This lady lied. We kindley told her we will come back when the are open to customers. We left and went to another antique dealer behind them and was gretted with open arms, no such demands. Wish you well Appilachian Antique Mall.
Lots of fun things from local artisan goods, to glassware, cabin and antique furniture
Great place super nice people. Found a really nice old floor model raido and a couple little nick knacks we couldnt live with out. Theres never enough time to look at everything but always worth the time !
Wow!!! What a place. I went in searching for something specific. I found it and much more. Beautiful pieces of glass dishes, sugar bowls, butter dishes, bowls, cups, mugs, decorations for table tops, some collectors antiques, and so much more. I spent an hour or more looking through and the prices were fair. Theres a downstairs that also has items. (It is a bit musty, so if you have allergies you may need to look quick). Loved this place! Told my daughter we have to go back!
Excellent antique store! Old military and WW2 items, Native American Indian artifacts, plenty of glassware and pottery, antique coins, military surplus, architectural antiques, old jewelry A little of everything! The staff has always been courteous and very nice to me, no complaints whatsoever! A must see in Boone.
Pretty cool store with old and not that old stuff. If youre looking for old books it is good place. They have 250 years old french books just for $30. We found there some cool old oil tins to decorate our garage.
I am not a rotten or frustrated person but This is one of the more infuriating interactions I have had in boone. This place has cute stuff at a relatively cheap price but the owner/cashier was absolutely slow and forgetful. It took this lady two minutes to think of the change between $20 and $10. She seems to be slipping mentally, and is very dismissive of customers in line, has little awareness of items in her store and refused to sell items. I left her my name and number for an item without a tag and came in another day looking for the item she said she would identify the vendor. Instead of doing that, she put the item in a pile without my name or number. When I returned she said she could take my name and number and she would look for it in the pile. Unfortunately the customer service ruins the store. Dont waste your time if you want to buy something within a reasonable time frame.
Appalachian Antiques rents booths to local vendors as well as selling items the owners find tucked away in the Blue Ridge Mountains surrounding Boone, North Carolina. The staff is very helpful and the owners plain spoken, but not necessarily deferential to folks with big money and attitudes to match. The store is crazy busy on weekends and all summer long, as many antique hunters drive over a hundred miles to visit and make it a day trip. Most items are vintage pieces, true antiques, or rustic collectibles. There are some reproduction signs and posters for sale. The selection is excellent, particularly for glassware and porcelain. Boone is a college town (Appalachian State), so dont expect to find yard sale prices for premium curated pieces on King Street, where real estate is pricey for unique, independent stores like this treasure!
Large mall for the area, little bit of everything. I thought the prices were good.
Great place of memorable artifacts and brick and brats. Love the history!
This store was a great find ! Ive always loved old antiques and unique things ! The store was great and one of the employees there was very nice and allowed me to leave some of my things I found behind the counter, although there was one female employee who was rude. She acted like I wasnt allowed to leave some of my heavier items behind the counter even though the other employee told me it was ok. She was rude to the woman in front of me also. She also accused my boyfriend of trying to steal something he had clearly just paid for at the register right beside where she was working. She was very sarcastic and snotty, but other than that my experience was great !
Ive been in this so-called antique shop many times over the years. Each time I go in I think its going to be the last but then I find myself passing by and go in out of boredom because Im just killing some time. I would not consider this an antique shop, its more like a vintage junk shop. Im not being unkind but the last time I was in was a joke. I went to the register was something that was clearly priced. When I got to the counter the owner claims that it was mismarked and tried to charge me four times what it was priced at. She then seemed surprised at my dismay that the price as marked is not the actual price. Save yourself the time and Shop elsewhere
Love this place, something for everyone, looking at all the old stuff brings back great memories, I found old post cards from where I was born in upstate New York, Ive spent hours in this place and love going back
While the store itself was very nice and had a lot of cool stuff, the lady at the counter was intolerably rude. She felt inclined to criticize my purchase and go on a political rant, which was not only unprofessional but uncomfortable. I would not recommend to a friend and I will not be returning.
Love divers collection. Service personal. Bought 4 things for less than $20.
These people are awful. Truly. They have NO place in these beautiful mountains, let alone King Street. Do human kind a favor and let them slither out of business as they should have long ago.
Last time I was here, a couple of months ago, I brought my dog in, no problem. This time they said no dogs. I spent about $300 last time. No telling how much they lost this time. Rating is for inconsistency in their policy.
Great place amazing if you are a coin collector like me
Really really really large mall, one of the largest Ive visited in the vicinity of Boone, Blowing Rock, Banner Elk & Black Mountain. Large variety, fair pricing.
A must go to when in Boone. Normally we find several things to buy. This trip not a thing. Everything seemed extremely over priced. There was a fair amount of variety but way too much repeat glass. We did find some fairly unique items but again priced way too high. I understand trying to get the most for your items but dealers need to be careful of pricing out of market. Im not afraid to buy but I know whats good and whats outrageous. Hope Im not disappointed next time. I dont wanna cross this gem off my list. Spent way too many dollars in here.
Interesting: I walked out with a 1969 North Carolina license plate for my collection! Will recommend.
Very little air conditioning in the summer and felt very stuffy. Needs more room to move around, felt like I was going to run into something every turn I made.
The place is like a museum: interesting and amazing finds from the past!
Great place, cool stuff, friendly staff!!!
Our primary residence is in Charlotte, NC. However, we own a cabin on Beech Mtn. And spend a considerable amount of time in and around Boone. My husband and I have been shopping at the Antique Mall for many years. Many times a year. We’ve purchased more items than we can count. We are avid antiquers and we’ve been lucky finding some great deals on really high quality antiques in the past. We’ve also bought a lot of junky Knick knack antiques... if we like it, we buy it. We were in the store yesterday and visited the right back corner booth on the main level. We were surprised to find the same booth that’s been there for years had the addition of some really nice 100+ year old sleds. We counted seven in the booth and we believe a few had been carried downstairs and left by customers as well. Three of the sleds were missing price tags. All of the other sleds were marked at $95 each. This was a steal!!!! These sleds are in great condition and we know enough about antiques to know the sale price should have been closer to $300 each. We spent a great deal of time trying to decide which to buy or if we were going to buy more than one since the price and quality of items was fantastic. My husband did some research on his phone while I browsed and picked out other items in the store. He and I met at the counter. I was purchasing the 1965 Carousel Gumball Machine on the pedestal that has also been at the counter for years as well as a few smaller items. When my husband handed the sled to the very grumpy older woman at the counter she immediately yelled at him that the price tag was wrong. The sled was not the $95 tag attached. We were shocked as she continued yelling at us. I explained to her that all of the sleds in the back corner booth had $95 price tags. She proceeded to yell at us both, ranting; “those sleds are over 100 years old”....”someone is getting fired”... she even accused us of retagging the sled. Not happy. She proceeded to yell at me as we both walked (she ran) back to the booth for me to show her the price tags. She started ripping the price tags off, making a big scene while still yelling at me. What did I do wrong? Obviously there’s an issue in the store and someone made a mistake. I continued to tell her that I had nothing to do with the mistake and she had no reason to yell at me. My husband came back, clearly he felt the store should have honored the $95 price tag which she refused, still yelling at us. I was embarrassed and very upset. I don’t yell at my kids in public. Yet, here I am, a 46 year old woman, being yelled at by a crusty old lady who clearly needs a lesson in customer service, common decency and humanity. I left without purchasing any of the items I wanted with the entire store looking at me as if I had done something wrong. The store lost a $300 sale and a lot of future sales because I will never, ever be back. It’s very sad and upsetting when human beings forget how to behave and act so intolerable and cruelly to one another especially when there’s simply no need for it. This store has a problem.... a human problem... much like the problem our nation is currently fighting.
I always enjoy visiting this store when Im in the area.
Nice store good prices
What a great place and amazing finds.
Nice selection although the location allows them to ge away with charging more
Great friendly place .love antique s
My friend and I stopped on Sunday, at this antique store, on our way back to the Raleigh area from Abingdon, Va,. The store and its workers were in a frenzy when we arrived, as they had lost the cash register key. I asked if we could place our shopping bag behind the counter, as we shopped, and asked the man behind the counter if he would give it back to me when we checked out. There was a particularly grumpy woman in the store barking out orders to her employees. The employees seemed frustrated and overwhelmed. When I brought my items to the counter, the man I had spoken to earlier, kept trying to ring up someone elses items, as mine. It distracted me from asking about our bag. He didnt mention it either. We left, and when we returned home and realized we had left our purchased items from, Artwalk, I called the Antique store and left a message. The recording said they would not be open until Tuesday, so I called again on Tuesday morning.Unfortunately, even though we bought items from her store, the woman refused to send me the bag, COD. She was unsympathetic, cold, and uncaring about the whole situation. She kept repeating that she was not responsible, even though she acknowledged she had the bag. Then she said that she might send them or she might not.VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!The kind man from ArtWalk, where we purchased the items in the bag, agreed to send them to us.I do NOT recommend you deal with this woman ever.Just ask her employees.
Met the owner. Super nice lady and she took care of some of the questionable items they previously had in cases.
Racist. They have a case of NAZI memorabilia. Enough said.
Lots and lots of antique selections. Staff is friendly and helpful.
Cool place, walk around and check it out
