I love the aesthetic of this book store, the cats are adorable, and the people working there are very friendly. I think their assortment of books is incredible, and I couldnt help but buy a few things. When a book I was looking for wasnt there, the person working there offered to order it for me which went above and beyond my expectations. Love this place!!

It is so nice to have a bookstore in Boone! My daughter and I purchase books here weekly and we are always met with kindness and a willingness to help. I highly recommend this shop! Gone are the days of actually purchasing books. With everything digital, I appreciate the opportunity this shop affords me to actually buy a book. Terrible. I was not allowed to shop due to my health condition preventing the wearing of a useless mask, even though the Boone Town order exempts me! Talk about fascism. LGBTQ friendly, but not if you have a medical situation.

Really cute and well stocked book store. Went in thinking about several different science fiction titles and walked out with three. Theyre paying attention to Covid too. Youre asked to please wear gloves or use anti-bacterial before browsing the books and they keep track of whos in the store to keep a low max. Thank you and very well done!

Seriously amazing. The personal care they give each reader is beyond imagination. Truly a one-of-a-kind business with passionate people who literally make the receiving experience (and getting, of books) truly special. Its absolutely the only place Ill shop for books. You cant imagine - or beat - the truly special experience of receiving recommended books based on my interests. Nobody does what they do!

The owner is arrogant and rude. The store is quite small and you are met at the front by an employee giving you instructions as if you can’t read. It plainly says on the door no entrance without a mask, which I had. I also used the hand sanitizer, so what more did we need to do or know? Because I didn’t stand still and listen to all the spiel from the employee, I was accused by the owner of harassing her. My sister added that she didn’t want to be in there long with others, because she had stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, and the response was I don’t care. A horrible experience.I simply wanted to purchase a book and be on my way. Instead, I was treated very rudely, so I left without a purchase and will never return. It is quite clear that they have much to learn about serving the public and the first step would be to show compassion instead of arrogance.

Well decorated on the inside and out, but The signs out front say it all, the books mostly are about far left activism, almost as the owner is trying to force people to lean that way. This is a very politically driven bookstore mostly catering to the minority crowds :( I’m a strong supporter of local businesses, unfortunately I felt uncomfortable after my visit.

I ordered books from Foggy Pine, and I am beyond happy. They went the extra mile to find a book theh didnt have on stock, and I am thankful for it.

After seeing the ad on The Late Show for this magical place I knew I had to order some books. I was slightly disheartened, albeit understanding and appreciative, that it is currently (mid pandemic) only open for online orders for mail delivery or drive through/basket pick-up until I saw a special option, the mystery box. The mystery box order option provides the closest experience, that I have tried, to visiting a book store in person without stepping foot inside. I was so pleased Mary (the owner) provides this service! My favorite thing about local cozy book stores is being able to seek recommendations from the literary experts. It is immediately apparent that Foggy Pine Books is that kind of special provider. Upon order I supplied a message they requested saying a little about myself, what I’ve read or authors I’ve enjoyed in the past, and any directions of interest. Mary selected with near mind reading precision exactly what I was searching for. I have only put down the first book they selected for me so I could write this review. Mary also provided a handwritten note explaining the choices and some more details about the books outside of their paperbound context. I sure miss visiting book stores in person but this experience really remedied the nostalgia. I’ll definitely be ordering all my future books from Foggy Pine Books and I am looking forward to the days when it is safe to shop there in person. Thank you, again, Mary and Foggy Pine team!

Best bookstore in Boone and a must if you’re walking down the iconic King Street. A fantastic variety, wonderful easy to navigate website with online ordering, and a comfortable environment to browse in and find your next favorite read.

I am a bit wary of bookstore staff as a rule. Typically they seem....maybe a little too cool for school...too hip for ster...or perhaps just too darn busy for friendly....but the humans working Foggy Pine were wonderful!! Store was great and the people were better!

I love bookstores, Stephen Colbert, Sam Elliott and especially Tom Hanks, so of course I had to follow the superbowl ad to Foggy Pine Books online. Their website is welcoming and I wish I could drive for two days just to visit the store in person. In fact, I wish I could move to Boone, North Carolina and get a house just off King Street so I can make the store my new favorite regular stop!Back to reality: I had to settle for ordering online and loved their vast selection. I got adventurous and didnt just order ONE book - I also asked for a 2 book Mystery Box! All three books arrived cushioned with recycleable materials in a cat-approved shipping container. These folks are psychic - (yes, I told them a bit about me and the sort of books I read) - in my Mystery Box selection they sent two wonderful books that must have been written just for me to read! (Good job, FPB staff!)

How can I not give you a 5 Star review after watching THE legendary Tom Hanks plug your store. Do you carry the Jenelle Evans book? Wait. Ill check your website.

Excellent service and very fast! Food is good. Lots of outdoor seating. Menu is basic - lots of comfort food.

They are an okay bookstore, but the politics in this place makes one feel unwelcome.

They have been so kind and helpful when Im looking for books. Their mystery box that I bought for my MIL for mothers day was awesome!

This bookstore is one of the most relaxing places in Boone. As a college student theres nothing I love more than to come to this wonderful bookstore, pet the adorable cats, chat with the staff and then buy a nice new book to read. The staff are helpful, giving wonderful suggestions. I typically read fantasy and when I had to purchase a sci-fi book for a friends birthday all I had to do was state that my friend enjoyed sci-fi and the Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Just from this description the staff member was able to direct me to several books that my friend has adored. Overall this store is a must-see for any lover of books!

Foggy Pine is awesome. Amazing customer service with knowledgeable staff, huge stock for a local store, and can order most stuff they dont have (with a discount!). All that plus the incredibly cozy setup (and toys for shoppers who have kids) make Foggy Pine a must for both tourists and locals.

I wasnt well received today when I called about my three week old order. I respect that people are overwhelmed. Ill wait to see how things play out in the next six weeks.

When I was still working my third shift job some time ago I would always stop by here and get a new book when I finished one each night. Each time I came here and was always helped by sweet and knowledgeable employees. I could always find something new and they even helped me complete my collection of The Expanse and Harry Potter. Not to mention they have the sweetest cats. I honestly feel bad since I havent been by recently. I gotta stop in for a good read and sweet pets.

Great atmosphere and the staff is always very helpful. They have a couple of very sweet cats that stay at the store that are very responsive to loving but will leave you alone if youre not into cats. Its quiet and quaint and they have classics as well as new titles.

Very relaxed vibe, the cats are chill and love to be loved. Wonderful selection of books and the staff is always willing to help with suggestions for adults and young readers as well. You will feel good supporting an Indy bookstore!

The Foggy Pine Bookstore has many staff recommended books as well as many popular books. The childrens section is sizable and there are enough books to satisfy all readers. I would suggest parking on the street behind the store if youre lucky to find a spot there. It is a good walk if you park nearer to Mellow Mushroom.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book I purchased in their cozy reading area with the most adorable little black cat reading beside me. The people theyre were super nice and very helpful and Im sure theyll help you find whatever you need!

This place is perfect. Exactly what downtown Boone needs in a bookstore. Local & intimate atmosphere, with a sense of customer service that’s just right. Mary helped me find what I was looking for, ordered the books I wanted that she didn’t have in stock & turned me on to some books to enhance my personal library. I highly recommend foggy pine bookstore for the avid reader, anyone wanting to start their own personal library, or cat loving coffee drinking kids who just happen to wander in. This place is a place to be.

So cozy. Had passed by so many times, but went in on a whim during a lunch break, bought some cool socks a new book, met a cute cat named Kel, and had a fun conversation. So much to explore, and the interior is much cozier than the exterior makes it seem.

Foggy Pine books is exactly what we need in town; a small, independent bookstore with a very thoughtful selection from toddlers to adults to scholars and everyone in between. Mary Prewitt is one of the most well-read people I know, and is committed to offering the best to her community. Really badass indie book store. They pack a lot of great stuff into a tiny store. The clerk the day I was in was knowledgeable about recent fiction (and was nose deep in a current bestseller) which only added to the atmosphere.

Great shop. Wonderful selection of books for all ages. Highly recommend supporting them.
