Never has the trucks I reserve always sends me an email two days before the designated pick up time sending me an over an hour away to get the truck. This place offers nothing.
Michael was very professional and accommodating. At the last minute, we realized that our unit was too small and with all of the demand from college Move outs and in our options were limited. Thank you for going the extra mile to help us while in a bind! Great customer service!!
Was returning a truck after hours and there’s no drop off box for keys. Don’t waste time looking for one. Also we tried calling their emergency number and can’t get them to answer their phone.
Reserved a truck a month ago. Called me day before pickup that no equipment at all or at any other nearby locations was available and changed my reservation to BRISTOL TN! Employee on phone just kept repeating Sir, Its college move-out time and everyone and their brother is moving! After he repeated this 3 or 4 times I finally said Dude I get that, that is literally why I am moving and made this reservation a month ago. My original rate was $250, definitely price gouging the college move out ppl (the same equipment in my hometown was $100). Cancelled my reservation because Bristol TN is a 3 hour round trip from Boone and I didnt even have a way to travel there. I had to be out of my apartment by 1PM the next day so this was just not doable. According to corporate they schedule the actual rental of the equipment 48 hours before pickup, regardless of how far back you made the reservation so thats how they dont have equipment youve been told is RESERVED for you. Now I have to throw away my furniture. 24 hours is not enough time to come up with an alternative, at least let me know sooner if youre not gonna have anything available. Ive used them two times prior with no issues during College move out time so IDK what happened. Terrible and unapologetic customer service. Use any other service if you can.
Equipment pickup was fine. But describe how much fuel charges are being billed to me and let me know Im being charged for it when I returned the equipment. I didnt look at the receipt until I was at home and shocked at the rate.
See many negative reviews. My experience quite different. From initial phone call to reservation center to calls and interactions with Mike and staff, from pick-up to drop off in St. Petersburg, everything was up front, professional and friendly. Not used to things going this smoothly. Thanks to all. A completely hassle free experience.
My brother made a reservation about a month in advance and when he went they simply said “it’s not here” and offered no help. You really shouldn’t go. No wonder the rating is so low.
Returned a small trailer to Boone Uhaul August 15, 2020. Facility thoughtfully laid out. Minimal wait. Employee Hawk Hawkins was professional, polite, efficient. Thanks Hawk, UHaul is lucky to have you on the team.

We set a reservation weeks in advance and when we went to get our trailer, they didn’t have it and we had to use a different agency. We were offered no compensation. Would absolutely no recommend to anyone.

Watch the hidden fees!!! its covered in the paperwork but they wont warm you about it! they charge you $30 to fold the blankets! $30 if they have to pump has in it PLUS the cost of the has itself. BIGGEST hidden charge rip off Ive ever seen. dont forget to add in the insurance, dolly fees and everything else. do NOT trust any quote they give you as realistic. Read the fine print. Certainly dont expect anyone there to act like they enjoy helping you at all -most apathetic employees ever.
Getting the uhaul was a good experience. Fast and easy.Also, I had a trouble with an overcharge, and I talked with Mike here at the store. He was an honorable guy and was able to cooperate with Uhaul corporate to get this charge removed and refunded me.
I would give this place a 0.....while waiting in line we experienced rudeness to other customers from the owner Don. Telling them if you don’t like it get out of line and I’ll take the next person. Once we got to counter we were told that our reservations were cancelled...he didn’t care, next. No sorry or nothing . We were stuck with no where to go; all other places were booked. Please don’t waste your money at this place.
The salty local in the front office shot a us a few snarks and quips as a bonus to our moving experience.They gave me a larger truck for the same price as the small truck because they didnt have any small ones to offer. They also let us have the truck as long as we needed it so long as we parked it back up at the front by the end of the evening.The overall service was much better than youd expect and the move came in at under $40. Not bad!
The woman here that helped was rude. Her name was Sam. Went there to return a key for a truck we had turned in the night before because they didnt have a drop box and she said yeah there was a drop box 1, 2, and 3 which is where you pick up keys and it is not the same as what was posted on their drop off site.
I cant believe how many trucks they have on this lot. Check in was smooth and friendly and drop off procedures were organized. Great experience!
Horrible........reservation canceled overbooked. The Owner Don wow what a horrible person. Nasty and mean to everyone he encounters. Don’t waste your time and money giving this guy business.

Been at uhaul this morning after they were suppose to be opened. No employee is here, and then I called uhaul and they were really apologetic with no course of action. We have movers waiting and have had this planned for weeks and now I am forced to sit and wait on the employee. Also their are about 8 other customers waiting. This is unacceptable customer service
Have you noticed that the manager is Don Goddard and the 5 star reviews are written by his family members with the last name Goddard!? Take a closer look! This place is a joke! They write their own positive reviews!
These guys are awesome, patient and helpful. A move is so stressful and they were very good helping me to understand the reservation and helping me to adjust things as neccesary!
One of the worst places I have ever been. Please go somewhere else, I mean anywhere else other than here. Extremely rude and unhelpful staff. Reservations online mean absolutely nothing. They called us and very rudely told us we have to get our storage unit now (almost a month before our reservation date) or we wouldnt have one at all. We got it, moved our stuff in and the owner called and yelled at us for not having done the paperwork correctly? Even though he was there when we did it..... saying he booked us for two units and again yelled at us for his mistake. We moved out early so we wouldnt have to deal with them anymore. Its one of the worst reviewed storage places in Boone for a REASON. Also fyi positive reviews are from people with limited contact with the employees and owners and from people who work here or from the flipping family itself.........scummy.

4 of us are trying to return our trucks . The app isnt working. There is no drop box. Someone pulled in and began cussing at everyone cause they were in the way. We asked if he knew what we need to do. He said, were closed, and Im not talking to you. He speed past everyone and disappeared.HE WAS WEARING A UHAUL SHIRT!!HE WAS AN EMPLOYEE!!
Tried to fill up my propane tank there. First, I was waiting for half an hour (being the only customer there), then this lady finally get back to me just to say, that they indeed fill up propane tanks, but she cannot help me, because she is not certified. I have to return in 2 hours, when certified person is here. How person may not be certified to do the job, which is one of primary service of this business is beyond my imagination.
Very rude and unhelpful employees. The store was empty and we went in asking for help locating a truck for our move and were told to “just google it like I told you to” when we asked if either of the two employees could help us look one up on their computers.
If I could give this location negative stars I would. This was absolutely the worst customer service experience I have ever had. We were told by the person who made our reservation that we were renting a u-box at the Boone location but instead, they reserved us a u-box in Johnson City, TN. After several ignored phone calls, we went to the store to figure out what was going on and was met with the manager, Don, who refused to even speak words and just shook his head with a smirk on his face the entire time I was speaking. When asked a question about what I needed to do to fix the problem that his branch created, he responded with “uhhhhhh google it?”. He was extremely rude and completely unhelpful. Honestly, it was worth the hour and twenty minute drive to TN to not have to deal with this child.
The customer service rep couldnt even be bothered to listen to what I was saying, it was like speaking to a poorly programmed automated phone line. She was completely lacking in basic knowledge of her companys available products and rental fees, ended up driving me out of the office and into a competitors office with questions that were not even remotely related to my rental, would recommend Penske over this difficult experience.

Manager is clearly angry that he works in customer service and takes it out on the people who come there. Didn’t plan on getting yelled at trying to bring a trailer back but I did. Absolutely terrible. Dishonest! I made my reservation 1 1/2 months in advance. I called a few days before pick up to ensure the reservation was still good, they almost didnt have a truck for me. After hours and hours dealing with Mr. Rude aka DON and Uhaul traffic, it was worked out, but before all of that, when I made my rservation, Don couldnt find a location in my town so he booked the next town over (an hour away!). I later found the location in my town and the manager (Don) said it wont be a problem to change. The day I rent the Uhaul, I was told to just call the new place I want to drop off and it will be fine. The Boone guys refused to change the drop off location in their system. I arrive at the new drop off location, and guess what, it is an additional $25 charge for dropping off at the wrong location. Besides this screw up, the employees at this location have the worst attitudes. One guy straight up yelled at a customer and huffed and puffed during my transaction. UNPROFESSIONAL. Luckily, the drop off location in Aberdeen, the owner was very nice and actually felt bad for me because the Boone guys really screwed up.
Are you kidding me. We arrived moments after they closed. The coward putz they have working wouldnt talk to me and turned his back to me. I was in a great mood until this idiot wouldnt accept a trailer drop off or even give a minor amount of assistance. Im done with uhaul FOREVER. This location is why.
I come here to get my propane refilled regularly for my vacation rental. The owner is always very quick to help and I never have to wait for a refill.

After making a reservation early and being repeatedly reassured that it was ok if we got into town a day or two after the reservation, they canceled it without any notice or warning on the receipt or by call/email. Dont even get me started on the staff. They seemed to take pleasure in turning me away. I know Im a college student but its a little disconcerting to be treated like trash because of it.
Would give 0 stars if I could. The customer service overall was the worst I’ve experienced in my life. I had an issue with my reservation when I made it, so I called the store and the man I spoke to (didn’t think to ask a name, but was probably the same guy I’ll speak about in a moment) said he didn’t know how to help me, and did absolutely nothing. That was red flag number one. The next day when I went to pick up my rental, the owner was there (Michael Goddard) and made multiple snarky and rude remarks towards me, red flag number 2. The final straw was this morning, we were called and one of the employees couldn’t find the keys to the rental we returned and blamed my boyfriend and I, turns out the owner had the keys. I finally read the reviews for this uhaul location, and have found that I am not alone at all in my horrible experience, there are more 1 star ratings than any others. Michael Goddard and Kelsey Goddard (his wife?) even felt the need to post 5 star reviews of uhaul for Boone to boost the ratings, you can read their reviews below (Michael Goddard even felt the need to call his own customers “wankers” in the review).This is a horrible establishment, and I will personally tell everyone I can not to use uhaul in Boone, I am absolutely disgusted with this experience overall.
0/5 stars...I almost never post a review, but I had to today after what just happened. The pretentious smirk Don had on his face earlier today was like he was looking down on me for some reason. I didnt think anything of it until he denied my business even tho I had a reservation made! There is something wrong here... this place is not friendly, in fact, kinda the opposite. Maybe its just Don but he seemed like he didnt want to help me from the moment I walked in this place. Most unprofessional Uhaul service if u can even call it a service.Don ruined my time, day, and the worst part of it all he was smirking down on me the whole time grinning until he could tell me that my storage space was given to someone else...
Im not sure why you cant drop off a U-Haul truck after hours at this location. Seems very inconvenient especially when the U-Haul company as a whole advertises that you can drop off after hours by using the mobile app. Very disappointing.
Their customer service rep was very nice and she was pleasant to talk to and thats it. The man at the desk was snarky, rude, and condescending. After making a reservation way ahead of time and confirming that I would not be there the date of my reservation and wanted to pay ahead of time I was screwed over. I realize that their policy is that they do not charge you for the unit until you show up but seeing as I would be out of town I had told them to just charge me because I was absolutely sure I needed that unit and I was told that they could do that by the rep. Well I get a receipt and all and then come to find out when we go to move our stuff into the unit they cancelled it without warning or notice. When we talked to the front desk associate he refused to help us smiling the entire time and making smart remarks about how we shouldve been there. To clarify we just wanted to see if we could get another unit and did not go in complaining about the cancellation. Well now thanks to that man Uhaul has lost a lot if customers because we found a local storage place owned by a sweet local lady and we are sending tons of customers her way. Thanks for nothing Uhaul of Boone and that man lost you $200+.
Horrible customer service. I never wrote these but wow. I talked to a woman about getting a U-Box delivered. She provided me with a date that worked so I booked it. Only to find out a month later that the box couldnt be delivered on that day and in fact the earliest possible date was 12 days after the reservation and too late to work for me. I then went in person to talk to someone who said they cant deliver them but I can pick them up and store them in boone. I went with that option, well I had to find out from the confirmation email an hour later that I had to go to Charlotte to pick up the U-Box. Because of this delay all of the storage facilities in town are full, I may have been able to get one a month or two ago when I made the original reservation with U-Haul. Now Im forced to get a trailer to bring my stuff to a storage facility in my hometown 3 hours away.
They deserve negative stars. The worst experience possible. We reserved a cargo van and 2 days before moving date they canceled our reservation because they wanted to rent the van on a daily basis and we reserved it for a week. Yes, they simply decided to breach our contract 2 days before move date. The worst customer service ever encountered. Do not trust this company. UHaul should be ashamed.
Rude, signs everywhere for after hours drop off but no box for keys. They acted like we committed a crime. If you can find another place I would suggest not dealing with these people, you will be inconvenienced and they do NOT care. If I could give no star I would.
Thankfully our truck was available at the day and time we reserved it for. However, they failed to make the reservation for the four days we needed (only made it two). Then, the owner, who checked us in and gave us the truck, wouldnt correct the reservation in the system and made us call the 800 service number instead. Additionally, the card I used to make the reservation, not the card I physically inserted into the card reader at the uhaul store in Boone, was charged for the rental fee. It doesnt end there. We were charged an additional $100 for extending our reservation two days. And, when my husband dropped off the truck in Raleigh, the lady he spoke with at the Raleigh store said our truck should have never been used for a one-way trip. It was old and had too high of mileage. Ive filed a formal complaint, followed up with the western NC corporate office, and am waiting for a response.
I really wish there was a 0 star. I had a reservation for a certain day at no certain time. When I got to the uhaul place, the manager Donald said that he gave my uhaul away that morning because I did not show up at 8am, when there was not even a time on my reservation! I showed him the conformation email with no specific time and he said he was sorry but there was nothing that he could do even though he had trucks sitting outside in the lot. He also told me that I could go to Banner Elk to pick up a huge truck, which I did not need. When I got to the other location, 35 minutes away, they charged me over double what I was originally quoted. Oh and on top of that, I was told that I would be called / texted 24 - 48 hours to confirm my pickup - which never happened. I refuse to use this service again. I will stick to my trailer. Terrible customer service and should be shut down. This place is a disgrace to Uhaul.

Please be aware of this U-Haul location! Unfriendly to outside U-Haul Dealers, not professional, no customer service skills and not concerned with providing grade A service to U-Haul customers. They dont take kindly to non caucasions.
Holy Cow . . . this is a long rant so the gist of it is save yourself the hassle and go see Atul at the Quick Serve down the hill for your U-Haul truck and trailer rentals. Now for the rant: My son called this location to rent a storage unit for his college stuff – special deal of rent a truck or trailer and get one month free storage. He talked with two different employees before he finally acquired a reservation for a storage unit and trailer – he was told the deal was that the trailer had to be returned to a different location. No problem. My husband and I arrived to pick up the trailer and get the keys for the storage unit to be told by the third (and rather grumpy) employee that there were no notes on a free months storage unit rental under my son’s reservation. He did, however, inform us that we had to rent the trailer from a different U-Haul location and return it to the location of our storage unit for the free month. Okayyyyy, different story but we’ll play along because we really wanted the free month’s rental. Frustrated but resolved we hiked down the road to the Quick Serve to rent our U-Haul trailer. Atul was at the top of his customer service game and got on the phone with corporate to make sure we were all square with the rules of this free month special (which is not so special anymore). Atul found out that yes, indeed we had to rent the trailer in one location and return it to the location where the storage unit was located. Great, we are all on the same page now and we left with our trailer. When we returned to this location to get the keys for our storage unit and return the trailer, we were told by the fourth different employee that no, we could not return the trailer to them because it was a big deal for them to take a trailer from another U-Haul location and sent us back down to the Quick Serve to drop off the trailer. Atul at the Quick Serve U-Haul was speechless. Despite the dramalamalama, mis-information and snarky employees at this location, we THINK we are getting a months free storage rental. Ill keep you posted if my bill reflects anything differently.
I too wish I could give this place 0 stars. Don reached out to me with a half baked apology after I complained about his rude behavior. He is in the wrong business. Maybe hire someone else to work with the public because you suck at it.

Horrible - Made reservations 2 months ago and they were not able to provide what was on the confirmation. Waited two hours when we only had three hours to move that morning. I wouldnt even give them one star.
